In Five Years Euro Will Become a Thing of the Past — German Financial Analyst

The European single currency project is doomed to failure, German financial analyst Marc Friedrich told Sputnik. While IMF boss Christine Lagarde is insisting on the Eurozone’s further economic integration, Brussels’ real objective is to tighten control over the EU member-states, which amounts to nothing short of a dictatorship, he opined.

Nobody can save the euro, Marc Friedrich, an analyst at financial advisory firm Friedrich & Weik told Sputnik Germany, adding that the European currency is likely to become a thing of the past in just five years.

New Unemployment Claims Drop Further, Beating Estimates

New claims for unemployment insurance dropped last week to the lowest level in 45 years, according to the Department of Labor: “Seasonally adjusted initial claims [for unemployment insurance benefits were] 215,000, a decrease of 12,000 from the previous week’s level [which was revised downward].”

Once again the economy is beating forecasters, who expected new claims to come in at 230,000. Either way, the performance of the economy continues to astound Democrats increasingly worried about the midterms and delight Republicans who voted for tax cuts and tax reform.

Selco: The Dirty Tuth About Water and Sanitation When the SHTF

Note from Daisy Luther: The biggest concerns in any long-term emergency are water and sanitation because the lack of these things can cause serious illness or even death. Because water and sanitation aren’t nearly as glamorous as guns and gadgets, they’re often overlooked in a preparedness plan. I asked Selco some questions about these important issues in this interview. The truth about it is dirty, unpleasant, and something for which you absolutely must plan.

France’s Ex-Prez Sarkozy to Face Trial for Corruption, Influence Peddling

PARIS (AP) — Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy is being ordered to stand trial on charges of corruption and influence peddling, in yet another humbling knockdown to the hard-charging conservative leader.

Sarkozy has faced multiple corruption investigations since leaving office in 2012. He was handed preliminary charges just last week in the most shocking affair: accusations that he took millions in illegal campaign financing from then-Libyan dictator Moammar Gadhafi.

How the Stasi Returned to Germany to Create the Perfect Police State

In the summer of 2018 Germany’s state of Bavaria will have the strictest police laws since 1945. Police will henceforth be allowed to carry hand grenades and infiltrate online chats without even suspicion of concrete crimes.

The lines between police and intelligence services will also become unclear. The law is sponsored by the CSU, the sister party of Merkel’s CDU and will likely sail through without any resistance.

Italy: Moroccan Terror Suspect Held in Piedmont

Rome probe into 19-year-old behind ‘intense jihad propaganda’

(ANSA) — Rome, March 30 — A Moroccan man residing in Italy was detained by Carabinieri police in a dawn raid in the northern region of Piedmont on Friday over alleged terror links.

The operation was related to a Rome probe into the “criminal activities” of Ilyass Hadouz, a 19-year-old resident in the Piedmont town of Fossano, and suspicions he is part of a terrorist association. Investigators believe the young Moroccan conducted “intense jihadist propaganda”, via a number of accounts on social media sites including Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

Hadouz is thought to have radicalised himself at home, via videos and extremist Islamist online chats.

“It’s depressing to die of old age,” he allegedly said via Facebook. “The unbelievers are set for dark days that will make their children’s hair turn white”. Friday’s is the latest in a string of operations targeting suspected Islamist terrorists this week.

These included the arrest of five people in Rome and Latina on Thursday accused of being linked to Anis Amri, a Tunisian who carried out the 2016 Berlin Christmas-market truck attack in which 12 people were killed. Interior Minister Marco Minniti called for an additional reinforcement of security checks at crowded places “in view of the Easter holidays” at an extraordinary meeting of the Committee of Strategic Antiterrorism Analysis (CASA) on Wednesday follow the terror-linked arrests.

In an interview with La Stampa newspaper Wednesday, Minniti said “the picture of the ISIS threat remains unchanged”.

Italy on High Alert: Officials Warn of Flood of Terrorists Across the Sea

ROME—When Anis Amri, the perpetrator of the 2016 Berlin Christmas Market truck massacre, arrived in Italy by sea from Tunisia in 2011, he was part of a mass exodus of tens of thousands of men escaping the Arab Spring uprisings. By 2012, Italy and Tunisia had signed a bilateral agreement to immediately repatriate all Tunisians who arrived by sea, and the number of those trying to make it to Europe dwindled to less than five percent of overall sea migration demographics.

But in late 2017, the number of Tunisians intercepted while attempting to come to Italy by sea suddenly spiked to nearly 10,000, marking a more than 200 percent increase over the year before. And in 2018, Tunisians are again on track to make up the bulk of sea arrivals that are intercepted.

Italy’s Berlusconi Launches Legal Petition to End His Ban on Running for Public Office

Silvio Berlusconi, leader and founder of the centre-right Forza Italia party, has launched a legal petition to end his ban on running for public office.

In October 2012, former Prime Minister Berlusconi was given a four years jail sentence for tax fraud, and was barred from public office. This decision was upheld by Italy’s supreme court in 2013, and although he served community service rather than jail time due to his age, the ban from running for public office remains.

The Fall of the Vatican

Plaster pieces fell down from the ceiling of St. Peter’s Basilica, a sign from the heavens

The Italian newspaper, La Repubblica, printed an article last Wednesday announcing that the Pope had expressly denied the existence of hell and the immortality of the human soul, in a recent conversation with the founder of the newspaper. On Thursday, the 29th of March 2018, the Holy See stated that the reported interview between Pope Francis and an Italian journalist Eugenio Scalfari, which claimed the Pope denied the existence of hell, should not be considered as an accurate depiction of Pope Francis’ words, but the author’s own “reconstruction”.

Scalfari, who has always been perceived as a Papal confidant, claimed Pope Francis had abolished hell, purgatory, and heaven back in early October 2017, so this is not a mistake, but a definite reiteration of a heretical thought the Pope already discussed with the same journalist in earlier interviews. News spread around the world of the Pope’s denial of hell, and the Vatican was desperate to clarify the comments made by the Jesuit Pope. A strong and unexpected sign from the Heavens was witnessed in the heart of the Vatican, when several pieces of plaster fell from St Peter’s Basilica, fortunately causing no harm, in what was a terrorizing experience and narrow escape for many tourists standing by.

The Tommy Robinson Problem: Does Everyone Have the Right to ‘Free Speech?’ (Video)

Tommy Robinson’s message is simple — he has no intention of stopping. He has the “God-given right” to freedom of speech, and he intends to use it.

He intends to use it against Islam, he intends to use it against political correctness, and he intends to use it against his opponents.

Robinson wants to stop the building of mosques, to prompt the ban of Sharia courts. His views are, to many, abhorrent, intolerable, and provocative.

UK: Anti-Grooming Gang Protests in Telford After ‘1,000 Girls Raped’

More than 100 people marched in Telford Friday demanding action against Muslim rape gangs, after revelations in the media suggested the town could have been hit by the largest grooming scandal in the UK.

The protest, organized by the Democratic Football Lads Alliance, called for a “full public inquiry” into the abuse. They were met by a socialist group of around 40 “anti-racists” who opposed the demonstration, claiming it was bigoted.

Caroline Glick: Hamas’s Partners in Its War Against Israel

On Friday, the Palestinian terror group Hamas, which controls the Gaza Strip, is inaugurating what it is calling “The March of Return.”

According to Hamas’s leadership, the “March of Return” is scheduled to run from March 30 — the eve of Passover — through May 15, the 70th anniversary of Israel’s establishment. According to Israeli media reports, Hamas has budgeted $10 million for the operation.

Throughout the “March of Return,” Hamas intends to send thousands of civilians to the Israeli border. Hamas is planning to set up tent camps along the border fence and then, presumably, order participants to overrun it on May 15. The Palestinians refer to May 15 as “Nakba,” or Catastrophe Day.

The first question that observers of this spectacle need to ask themselves is whether Hamas believes that it will be able to overrun Israel.

The obvious answer is, of course it doesn’t.

So this brings us to the second question.

If Hamas doesn’t expect its civilians to overrun Israel, what is it trying to accomplish by sending them into harm’s way? Why it the terror group telling Gaza residents to place themselves in front of the border fence and challenge Israeli security forces charged with defending Israel?

The answer here is also obvious. Hamas intends to provoke Israel to shoot at the Palestinian civilians it is sending to the border. It is setting its people up to die because it expects their deaths to be captured live by the cameras of the Western media, which will be on hand to watch the spectacle.

In other words, Hamas’s strategy of harming Israel by forcing its soldiers to kill Palestinians is predicated on its certainty that the Western media will act as its partner and ensure the success of its lethal propaganda stunt…

Degradation of European Diplomacy

In his latest Sputnik International interview, Srdja Trifkovic discusses the decision by a number of European countries, as well as the United States and Canada, to expel dozens of Russian diplomats over the Skripal case. Dr. Trifkovic was first asked for his overall assessment of the significance of this move.

ST: The overall impression is that rational discourse has given way to collective hysteria. It is indeed remarkable, the extent to which the retaliatory bandwagon has successfully started rolling while we don’t even have elementary answers to the questions concerning the case itself.

The second important and discouraging aspect is that continental European countries have duly followed the Anglo-American lead in Russophobia, and this represents a further triumph of the Atlanticist domination over Europe. It is remarkable that both Germany and France—the putative leaders of an independent European foreign policy—have been reduced to the status of automatic followers of the lead from London supported by Washington. Likewise, the initial round of sanctions in 2014 against Russia was dictated by the United States, which had nothing to lose in the proceedings, and to the detriment of most Europeans’ interests.

Overall I think that one, we have the hysterical phase of Russophobic discourse in the West which is not amenable to any rational arguments; and two, we have seen a successful degradation of European diplomacy to the status of pliant satellites comparable to East Germany and Bulgaria vis-à-vis [the late Soviet leader Leonid] Brezhnev.

Q: Do you think there was some classified evidence that was presented that proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that Russia was involved, or do you think that the fact that there are 11 countries who have not joined in the protest perhaps hints at the fact that this was not the case?

ST: First of all, I would say that President Putin, Foreign Minister Lavrov and others would not have made such categorical denials of Russian involvement if there was any possibility of a smoking gun, which could effectively show to the world that they were not telling the truth.

Secondly, it is always possible to present some equivocal evidence in the form that may hint at the modus operandi of intelligence agencies but nevertheless does not disclose outright secrets. We’ve seen that in the past. I don’t think that it would be possible for unequivocal confidential information to be disclosed to the diplomats and foreign ministers of all EU countries, as divergent as the 27 are, without risking the disclosure of methods and sources.

If you look at the countries which have taken measures against Russia, they almost read like who-is-who of those prepared to follow the U.S. lead. If you look at those reluctant to do so, including Austria, Slovakia, Cyprus, Greece, and others, we are looking at those which already have a more independent foreign policy. I don’t think it’s a reflection of the quality of actual intelligence, it is simply a reflection of the determination of decision-makers of those countries to preserve a modicum of independence.

Q: What would you say about the level to which the actions that were actually taken by individual countries, and the numbers game that’s being played? What do you think determined the number of expelled diplomats?
