Italian Growth to be ‘Less Intense’ — ISTAT

Leading ‘indicator is still high but slowing’

(ANSA) — Rome, February 7 — Italian growth is set to slow, ISTAT said Wednesday in its monthly report on the economy.

“Italian exports keep increasing with a positive trend following world trade expansion,” the national statistics agency said. “However, manufacturing production is slowing down.

“Households’ purchasing power is increasing and the saving rate is strengthening. Inflation remains modest.

“The leading indicator is still high but slowing down slightly compared to the previous months, suggesting a moderate pace of economic growth”.

An Undereducated Admiral

by Srdja Trifkovic

Since there are no pressing global issues that cannot wait until next week, I’ll devote my column to a book I’ve just finished reading. Its title, Sea Power: The History and Geopolitics of the World’s Oceans (Penguin, 2017), and the reputation of its author—retired admiral James George Stavridis, who ended his career as NATO Supreme Allied Commander in Europe—promised an enlightening or at least interesting read.

The first problem with this book is that it contains so many errors of judgment and fact, distortions and omissions, that already after the first chapter (“The Pacific, Mother of all the Oceans”) I could not take it seriously. Coming from a run-of-the-mill academic hack, or a New York Times Pulitzer-winning columnist, this would be unremarkable and unsurprising. Adm. Stavridis, however, is a hugely respected and influential military intellectual. Let’s be specific.

Beware the Liberal Thought Police

Two years into the Trudeau government’s term and the veneer of the “sunny ways” imagery has started to fade away to reveal a darker undercurrent of dangerous ideological division. We have seen how the steady tax increases by the Liberal government under the guise of taxing the so-called wealthiest 1% have stealthily evolved into attempts to tax the tips of hospitality and service workers. We have seen attempts to eliminate tax relief for families impacted by health challenges, such as diabetes, autism or mental health. Now, we are witnessing this same divisive and ideological movement set federal funding of youth employment in its crosshairs.

Detroit Man Pleads Guilty to Terrorism Charge for Facebook Rant Against Police

A Detroit man now faces prison time for a 2016 Facebook rant against police.

Nheru Littleton pleaded guilty to making a terrorist threat this week. That was in the form of Facebook comments making general threats against police in July 2016, including statements like “Kill all white cops!” and “F**k them police.”

Ex-College Student Indicted on Federal Terroris Charges, Accused of Setting Fires at University in St. Paul

A 19-year-old Minneapolis woman indicted this week on terrorism support charges made a brief first appearance Thursday in federal court, where a judge ordered her to remain in custody upon requests from prosecutors.

Tnuza Jamal Hassan will be arraigned on the new federal charges — which also include arson and making false statements to FBI agents — on Feb. 12, at which time a detention hearing has also been scheduled.

Hassan was arrested Jan. 17 after allegedly setting a series of small fires on the campus of St. Catherine University in St. Paul, where she attended classes until last fall. Hassan told police that she wanted to burn the school down and hurt people in retaliation for U.S. military actions overseas. She also allegedly wrote a March 2017 letter encouraging classmates to “join the jihad in fighting” and to join “Al-Qaida, Taliban, or Al Shabaab,” according to Wednesday’s indictment returned by a federal grand jury.

George Soros Spent $100K on a Local DA Race

George Soros helped tip another district attorney’s race with more than $100,000 in support of his preferred candidate — and he did it without anybody finding out until after the campaign.

A Soros-funded national political action committee (PAC), Justice & Public Safety, spent more than $100,000 on behalf of Portsmouth, Virginia Commonwealth Attorney Stephanie Morales between Sept. 9 and Nov. 4, the PAC’s FEC filings reveal. Soros’s support for Morales’s campaign has not been previously reported.

Soros has repeatedly backed left-wing district attorney candidates with massive donations typically only seen in gubernatorial, congressional or presidential campaigns. Soros spent more than $9 million on local DA races in 2015-2017 alone, allowing the New York resident to influence local criminal justice policies all across the country.

Seven Reasons to Beware the Southern Poverty Law Center

A strong case can be made to strip the SPLC of its nonprofit, tax-exempt status.

The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) says its primary mission is to fight hatred, teach tolerance, and seek justice. These are noble goals for most Americans, but this is not a noble organization. It is the exact opposite. Given the SPLC’s power and influence over the media and members of Congress, this once highly-regarded civil rights organization deserves fresh scrutiny. Here are seven reasons why the SPLC fails to serve the public interest:

The SPLC ignores basic standards of scientific research in selecting and classifying hate groups and extremists.

The SPLC’s definition of “hate” is vague. It defines a hate group as one with “beliefs or practices that attack or malign an entire class of people, typically for their immutable characteristics.” SPLC President Richard Cohen testified in December 2017 that its assessment of hate is based on opinion, not objective criteria. (See minutes 43-48 of his testimony.)

The Nuclear Option: FBI/FISA Scandal Exposes Dangerous Disregard for American Liberties and Constitutional Rights

Among the ever-evolving excuses for why Democrats and political hitmen inside the government wanted to keep all their dirty laundry secret was that airing it would reveal important “sources and methods” Department of Justice investigators use to “keep America safe.”

Now that the memo has been released, all but the most delusional partisans and bureaucratic whitewash specialists are shocked and dismayed over how thoroughly the Obama Administration had infected the DOJ with partisan politics.

Not to mention a complete disregard for individual constitutional rights and civil liberties. Constitutional rights and civil liberties be damned if they get in the way of a phony political hitjob against a political opponent!

And in case anyone wondered whether former FBI Director James B. Comey had a shred of integrity left, he settled the issue with a tweet.

“That’s it?” he inquired. Of the memo that explained how Obama justice officials used Russian-manufactured propaganda paid for by Democrats and Hillary Clinton’s campaign to apply for a warrant to spy on a private citizen working for the campaign of then-candidate Donald Trump.

Yeah, that was it, Jimmy Boy. The fact you are not shocked and outraged by it all only reveals just how thoroughly corrupted you have become.

The Next Ontario PC Leader Has No Choice But to Fight Carbon Taxes

The next leader of the Ontario Progressive Conservatives needs to take a page from Saskatchewan’s playbook, and be a national leader against carbon taxes.

Striking down the Wynne cap-and-trade carbon tax is an obvious start. Cap-and-trade is overly bureaucratic, sends billions of dollars out of the province, to Quebec and California, and lacks transparency as it doesn’t appear on our rising energy bills.

Trudeau to Facebook: Fix Your Fake News Problem or Face Stricter Regulations

OTTAWA—Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has warned social networking giant Facebook it needs to fix its “fake news” problems or face stronger regulation from Ottawa.

Trudeau told Facebook chief operating officer Sheryl Sandberg in November he was concerned the company wasn’t doing enough to stop the spread of misleading information on their platform, a source with direct knowledge of the conversation told the Star.

Facebook has been under intense international scrutiny for allowing so-called “fake news” — false and often outlandish information presented as legitimate journalism — to propagate on its network.

Berlin New Year’s Eve Sex Assault Numbers Three Times Those Previously Reported

New information has revealed that the actual number of sex assault cases that took place over New Year’s Eve was nearly three times the figure previously given out by police.

Earlier this year, Berlin police claimed that there had been 13 cases of sexual assault over New Year’s Eve but a new request for information from libertarian Free Democratic Party (FDP) politician Marcel Luthe has caused the police to substantially revise the number, Focus reports.

Police now say that there were at least 37 cases of sexual assault reported which puts the number just slightly above that of the previous year, rather than a decline as previously reported.

Dutch Sold a Pup With EMA — Lorenzin

Dossier was not truthful says health minister

(ANSA) — Rome, February 8 — Health Minister Beatrice Lorenzin said Thursday that the Dutch were not honest about their winning bid for Amsterdam to be the post-Brexit home of the European Medicines Agency (EMA). The Italian government and the city of Milan are appealing after doubts were raised about whether Amsterdam will be ready to host the agency. “Critical points have emerged in the bid,” Lorenzin told a press conference. “The Dutch sold us a pup and that is too much, even from a merchant country.

“The (bid) dossiers must be truthful.

Italy: 3 African Youths Convicted of Rimini Rapes

2 Moroccans, 1 Nigerian raped Polish, Peruvian women

(ANSA) — Rimini, February 8 — Three African youths were convicted Thursday of raping a Polish tourist on a Rimini beach after brutally beating her partner and then raping a Peruvian woman a little later on August 26 in the Romagna resort in a case that shocked the nation. The three minors — two Moroccan brothers aged 15 and 17, and a 16-year-old Nigerian — were sentenced to nine years and eight months in jail after being found guilty on all nine charges.

The three were found to be the accomplices of a 20-year-old Congolese man deemed the ringleader of the gang, Guerlin Butungu.

Butungu has already been found guilty and sentenced to 16 years in jail.

The defence attorney of the Nigerian said “the sentence is too high”.

The lawyer representing the Polish couple attacked said “the sentence is severe but fair”.

The polish couple sent a letter to the court saying they had endured seemingly “endless fear” on the night of the attack.

The young woman who was raped said she still had trouble sleeping and suffered panic attacks.

Her boyfriend said “I’m scared of the dark, the beach, the sea, and people who speak a foreign language”.

Italy: Another Two Magistrates Probed for Corruption

In Sicily

(ANSA) — Palermo, February 8 — Another two magistrates are being probed for corruption in an investigation in which former Siracusa prosecutor Giancarlo Longo was arrested Tuesday on charges of corruption, conspiracy and fraud for allegedly ‘selling’ his activity. The pair were named as assistant prosecutor Marco Di Mauro and former prosecutor Maurizio Musco, who has already been convicted of abuse of office in another case.

Their offices have been searched.

Also placed under investigation were lawyer Ornella Ambrogio and Longo’s father-in-law, who is accused of money laundering.

Longo has already been questioned in the case.

According to Messina prosecutors, Longo rigged a series of probes in exchange for money and gifts in order to favour two Siracusa lawyers: Piero Amara, who is also a lawyer for fuels group ENI, and Giusepe Calafiore.

Amara has been arrested and will be questioned in Rome tomorrow, while Calafiore is a fugitive in Dubai.

The probe is linked to another one by Rome prosecutors on sentences allegedly ‘bought’ from the Council of State, Italy’s highest administrative court.

Amara is involved in the Rome probe, which also involves former Council of State chief Riccardo Virgilio, among others.

Italy: Chaos if no M5S Government — Di Maio

(ANSA) — Rome, February 8 — 5-Star Movement (M5S) premier candidate Luigi Di Maio said Thursday that he was confident his anti-establishment group would win a working majority in parliament in the March 4 general election but warned of chaos is this does not come about. “There are two post-election scenarios: either the M5S takes over the government or chaos,” Di Maio said in a video message on Facebook “(Democratic Party leader Matteo) Renzi and (Forza Italia leader Silvio) Berlusconi have realized that they won’t get 51% together and they are saying we’ll vote again (if the election is inconclusive). “They are irresponsible because they created this situation on purpose to do a shady deal after with the government.

“But now they know that they won’t pull it off, they are panicking and they don’t have a plan B. “I am confident, very confident, that everything can change over the next 25 days and we can get to the point of having a majority”.

Italy: Islam Incompatible With Our Values — Salvini

Anti-migrant leader in town where Islamic centre to be built

(ANSA) — Perugia, February 8 — Islam is “incompatible with our values,” anti-migrant League leader Matteo Salvini said Thursday in Umbertide, an Umbrian town where a major new Islamic centre is set to be built. “The problem with Islam is that it is a law, not a religion.

In the name of a God it imposes a law, in my view incompatible with our values, rights and freedom,” said the League leader, who earlier this week vowed to shut all illegal Islamic centres in Italy. “The fact is that in the literal interpretation of the Koran, which is not a text to be interpreted but considered the word of the prophet, women are worth less than men and Islamic law is worth more than Italian law. “And therefore I don’t want people to come to Italy who believe women are worth less then men”.

Italy is Older Than Ever as Birthrate Falls to All-Time Low

Italy’s population is older than ever after another drop in the number of babies born here last year.

Some 464,000 babies were born in Italy in 2017, according to the latest figures from national statistics bureau Istat. That was 9,000 below the 2016 total, which was already 12,000 fewer than the year before that.

The trend stretches back further: over the past ten years, births have fallen by 100,000.

The declining birthrate, combined with longer life expectancy, has left Italy with a significantly older population. By the start of of 2018, for the first time ever the mean age of Italy’s residents was over 45 years old. Nearly 60 percent of them were 40 or older; nearly 23 percent were over 65. In contrast, only 27 percent were aged 15-39, and around 13 percent were 14 or younger.

Deaths also increased in 2017, leaving Italy with fewer people: just under 60.5 million by the end of last year, around 100,000 fewer than at the start.

Pro-EU Campaign Secures £400,000 From George Soros

Real Collusion: Foreign Billionaire George Soros Funding Gina Miller’s Anti-Brexit Campaign

George Soros, the billionaire globalist and convicted insider trader, has been unmasked as a major backer behind a campaign to stop Brexit.

The Hungarian-American financial speculator, infamous as ‘The Man Who Broke the Bank of England’ for his role in Black Wednesday in the United Kingdom, has ploughed £400,000 into Gina Miller’s Best for Britain campaign, The Telegraph reports.

A leaked strategy document suggests the campaign will ape the tactics of the hard-left Momentum group, which serves as a kind of Praetorian Guard for socialist leader Jeremy Corbyn within the Labour Party.

The anti-Brexit campaign hopes to put “pressure” on Members of Parliament to reject whatever Brexit deal Theresa May’s government produces and vote for a second referendum in the same way Momentum pressures Labour MPs to obey Mr Corbyn.

They also intend to organise mass rallies and concerts with a “heavy youth focus”, presumably to provide the illusion of popular support for their activities.

But his new job is not really about preserving and protecting Sweden’s cultural heritage and historical sites at all.

Qaisar Mahmood, who once rode his motorcycle around Sweden in an apparently failed attempt to discover what being Swedish consisted of, is using his position as head of the Swedish National Heritage Board not to highlight and celebrate that heritage, but to downplay Sweden’s cultural heritage and history, and to create a false narrative that will help compel Swedes to accept mass Muslim migration. He says he doesn’t want simply to alert people to Viking artifacts and the like, but to use Sweden’s history to “create the narrative” that will make Muslim migrants “part of something.”

We have already seen how that works. Remember the fake news story about the Viking burial cloth bearing the word “Allah”? Last October, a Swedish researcher gained international headlines by claiming that burial costumes from Viking graves dating back to the ninth and tenth centuries had been found to be inscribed with the name “Allah.” The intent of this was obvious: to convince Swedes that Islam had always been a part of Sweden, all the way back to the days of the Vikings, and so they should not be concerned about the mass Muslim migration that was now bringing Sweden unprecedented rape and other crime rates. Islam has always been a part of Sweden! Stop opposing mass Muslim migration!

The Viking burial cloths didn’t really feature the name “Allah” at all, as Stephennie Mulder, an associate professor of Medieval Islamic art and archaeology at the University of Texas at Austin, proved shortly thereafter, but by then the damage had been done. The idea had entered, however dimly, the popular consciousness: the Vikings were really Muslims. Islam is Swedish. Sweden was Islamic before it was Christian. The Muslim migrants are Swedes.

UK: May’s Inner Circle ‘Divided Over EU Divorce Strategy’

Theresa May’s Brexit ‘war cabinet’ has failed to reach a breakthrough today, despite “robust” talks on exactly what the UK hopes to achieve from its divorce with Brussels.

Senior ministers met at Number 10 this afternoon to thrash out what kind of future relationship Britain should seek with the European Union in the next round of negotiations.

The Prime Minister’s inner circle is reportedly deeply divided over whether to pursue a hard or soft Brexit.

UK: Terror-Linked Radical Sect Ordered to Demolish Illegal London Mega-Mosque

An East London mega-mosque built and run by a radical, anti-Western Islamic sect is illegal and must be demolished, a High Court judge has ordered.

Abbey Mills Mosque near the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford can be used by some 2,500 people, but never received planning permission, Dawn reports.

Member of the Tablighi Jamaat group constructed it in 1996 as a supposedly temporary Islamic centre on the site of an old factory.

Tablighi Jamaat preaches a supremacist, anti-Western form of Islam and has been linkedto the 7/7 terrorists, a San Bernardino shooter, and more recently the London Bridge attack.

EU Denies Spain Request to Keep Kosovo Out of Enlargement

EU spokesperson stress the strategy involves the whole region

(ANSA) — BRUXELLES, 31 GEN — Spain asked the European Union to exclude Kosovo from the enlargement process, but the informal paper sent from Madrid to Brussels “doesn’t make much difference to the Commission document”, to be published on 6th February, which “covers the whole region” of the Western Balkans, Kosovo included. This is how the European Commission answers to the request claimed by Madrid. The EU Enlargement strategy will involve Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Albania and Kosovo.

“Madrid and the other 27 European countries are free to suggest changes to the strategy for the Western Balkans,” the spokesperson for the European External Action Service, Maja Kocijancic, stressed. The opinion of EU governments is “normal” in the run-up to a new policy paper, the EU Commission spokesperson, Margaritis Schinas, reiterated.

Spain is one of the five EU countries that do not recognize the independence of Pristina and stressed that “ Kosovo is not part of the enlargement process and has its own differentiated framework”. On the other hand, Slovakia, one of the other EU states denying Kosovo’s independence, has approved the Commission plan.

Pilot of Downed Russian Jet in Syria Set Off Grenade When Surrounded by Terrorists

The pilot of a Russian Su-25 jet shot down by terrorists in Syria was fighting the militants to the last, the Russian Defense Ministry confirmed. It added that he set off a grenade once he was surrounded.

The jet, piloted by Major Roman Filipov, was flying over the Idlib de-escalation zone on Saturday when it was downed by one of the terrorists’ portable air-defense systems (MANPADs).

Filipov was struggling to the last to navigate the warplane and reported that he had been hit by a missile before he crash landed, the ministry said on Monday.

The officer fought with the militants till the last minute, waging a losing battle in the terrorist-controlled area, according to the statement. After the militants surrounded the heavily-wounded Filipov, he waited till they approached and detonated a grenade.

Filipov was an experienced pilot who had successfully fulfilled dozens of military tasks in Syria, including eliminating terrorist groups and escorting humanitarian convoys to liberated areas.

Pure Propaganda: White Helmets Stage Video of ‘Rescuing’ Babies for Western Media

This last week has been productive for the White Helmets, having expanded their their studio lot from Idlib, down to terrorist-occupied suburb of East Ghouta, Damascus, with both sites running the same familiar story-boarded scenes and production values.

It’s become all-too predictable: the same scripting and camera shots, all feeding into the same western mainstream media treatment of a made-to-order ‘civil war’ narrative, designed to elicit an emotional response from western viewers and to further reinforce the western humanitarian crisis mythology, in the hope of engineering a western imperative to escalate its intervention against the Syrian government.

This latest report released by Reuters/NBC News contains some incredibly misleading propaganda, with the headline, “Russia intensifies bombing of Syria’s Idlib after rebels down jet, killing pilot,” making this alleged incident seem like wanton revenge on the part of the evil Russians.

“Civil defense sources said air raids struck the towns of Kafr Nubl and Maasran, as well as the cities of Saraqeb, Maarat al Numan and Idlib, and that several deaths and dozens of injuries were reported as rescuers dug through the rubble.”

Notice how Reuters/NBC News try and tart-up their report by citing “Civil defense sources” , which might sound impressive to anyone who hasn’t actually been following this conflict closely for the past 7 years. What Reuters/NBC News have conveniently left out is the fact the ‘civil defense’ organization they are referring to is none other the White Helmets, and who are al Qaeda’s civil defense, operating exclusively in ‘rebel’ terrorist-occupied areas in Syria. Their base of operations is in Turkey, not Syria, and they are being funded by UK, US and EU member state governments to the tune of over $200 million since their inception in late 2013. None of these facts are ever mentioned in any western mainstream coverage of this pseudo NGO’s exploits.

Turkey’s Jihad Against Kurds

The head of Diyanet, the Turkish religious office, Ali Erbas announced that in connection with Turkey’s attack on the Kurds living in Efrin/Afrin in Syria, they will be reciting the Sura of Victory in Mosques, Al-Fath [48], reports the Turkish daily Hurriyet.

For years, we have been fed by orientalists that the greater jihad means first of all fighting the internal enemy and weaknesses.

In the discussion on this subject, anyone who stresses the importance of armed jihad, is pushed by apologists to the corner of “Islamophobes”, as Islamic jihadists are supposed to be only a margin of degenerates who do not understand the true Islam.

Meanwhile, one of the largest Muslim countries, until recently a hope for Islamic democracy, as part of its attack on the Kurdish-inhabited areas of Syria, refers to the Surah in which material goods are promised to the fighting Muslims. Speech is also about those who refrain from fighting and about the punishment that will befall them:…

Uranium One Informant Says Moscow Paid Millions in Bid to Influence Clinton

An FBI informant involved in the controversial Uranium One deal has told congressional committees that Moscow paid millions to a U.S. lobbying firm in a bid to influence then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton by helping former President Bill Clinton’s charities during the Obama administration.

The Hill first reported late Wednesday that informant Douglas Campbell gave a 10-page statement to the Senate Judiciary Committee, House Intelligence Committee and House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, and was interviewed for several hours behind closed doors by committee staff.

In the statement, obtained by Fox News, Campbell said Russian executives told him that Moscow was hiring APCO Worldwide in an effort to influence the Obama administration and Hillary Clinton.

Can’t Make Amends: China Receives Second Tibet Apology From Mercedes Benz

German auto giant Daimler has apologised to China again after sparking an outcry over an Instagram post by its luxury brand Mercedes-Benz quoting the Dalai Lama, seen by Beijing as a Tibetan separatist.

Daimler chairman Dieter Zetsche and its China chief Hubertus Troika sent a letter of apology to the Chinese ambassador to Germany on Wednesday, a company spokeswoman in Beijing, Simonette Illi, told AFP, confirming a report by the official Xinhua news agency.

Xinhua reported that the letter expressed “sincere apology to China” and that Daimler had “no intention of questioning or challenging in any manner China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity”.

Daimler, according to Xinhua, said it “deeply regrets the hurt and grief that its negligent and insensitive mistake has caused to the Chinese people”.

The second apology in two days highlights the extent to which foreign companies try to appease Beijing authorities when they run afoul of the party line of the world’s second largest economy.

‘10,000 Homeless Migrants’ In Italy as Election Nears

A humanitarian group says some 10,000 homeless migrants in Italy are living in makeshift settlements, occupying abandoned buildings or out in the open while their asylum bids are being processed.

Doctors Without Borders released a survey Thursday of migrant housing in Italy, amid an election campaign that has been marred by a violent anti-immigrant shooting spree last week and calls by leading politicians for mass migrant expulsions.

About half of the homeless migrants were squatting in abandoned buildings. Another third were living in the open, while the rest were in tents, shacks and containers.

The nonprofit said 15 had died since the end of 2016 trying to get to France along the “death pass” through the Alps used during World War II by Jews.

Rep. Keith Ellison at Rally Denouncing Trump as White Supremacist: ‘Justice for All… Whether You’re Born Here or Not’

Speaking at a rally in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday billed as “A Day of Action Against Trump’s White Supremacy,” Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN) said the goal of the anti-Trump, pro-illegal alien movement should be “justice for all.”

“Justice for all,” Ellison said. “And that means whether you’re born here or not.”…

Although the rally was organized by a number of left-wing groups, including the Women’s March, the message was decidedly about the millions of illegal aliens living in the United States who want the government to grant them blanket amnesty.

Cristina Jimenez, executive director and co-founder of United We Dream, which also sponsored the event, said that amnesty should be for all of the “11 million” illegal aliens living in the United States.

‘Customized Learning’ Means Every Student Learns Something Different

According to the people controlling our public schools, this country has been blessed by an endless stream of brilliant innovations. For examples, we had Sight-word instruction, which creates dyslexia and illiteracy, we had New Math, which the whole country hated; we had Constructivist instruction, which guarantees less success in the classroom. Point is, the hype is often far separated from reality. We have a lot of gimmicks in our classrooms that almost always share two things: they were lavishly promoted as breakthroughs; and they don’t work very well.

So forgive my hesitation when I read praise of “mass customized learning,” which the developers hail as “the only way to achieve true education reform. We have to redesign student learning from class time to curriculum and from teaching styles to learning spaces.” Translation: throw everything out the window and start anew with a big blank check…

There is no reason why the human brain is any different now than it was 50 or 100 years ago. In fact, the best students around the world are typically sitting in large classrooms, more like amphitheaters, listening to professors, just as they have for hundreds of years. The large lecture is efficient and it’s cheap. What’s not to like? Unless perhaps you don’t want efficiency and economy.

We know for sure that our Education Establishment is always finding reasons to attack the traditional classroom, the traditional lecture, and the traditional role of the teacher…

Taken to its logical conclusion, customized learning means a different academic experience for every kid. That might sound fun and exciting for a time. But surely there are things that everybody should know. Who is Shakespeare? What’s a hypotenuse? Why do people still talk about Julius Caesar?

The truth is, our progressive educators don’t like people knowing a wealth of knowledge. It’s not fair; it’s not what socialists call “democratic.” So this new approach is a good way to keep everybody ignorant and separate. Nobody will have any way to judge anybody else’s knowledge because everybody will know different things.

High School Cancels Musical After White Student Lands Lead Role

Social justice activists at a New York high school successfully shut down a production of “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” after a white student landed a lead role.

Protests of the production began when an African-American student quit Ithaca High School’s musical production due to the role of Esmeralda being given to a white classmate.

“It shows you that theater wasn’t made for you,” the student told the Ithaca Journal. “And it shows you that, if you can’t get the parts that are written for you, what parts are you going to get?”

Student activists then banded together under the umbrella of Students United Ithaca and wrote a letter that included a list of demands, saying that, while the young lady cast as Esmeralda was “a stellar actor, singer, and dancer” any production would be “lucky to have,” she couldn’t be cast in this role because she is the “epitome of whiteness.”

10 thoughts on “Gates of Vienna News Feed 2/8/2018

  1. The brick centers of learning inside the dying West are Marxist run “sh#%ho1e$” best avoided in favor of on-line educational opportunities. Meanwhile, Obama had the student loans of over a TRILLION dollars ultimately guaranteed by the American taxpayer.

How classic liberals reclaim all our great institutions, from public schools to charitable foundations, remains a puzzle.

  2. “In possibly unrelated news, the Italian birth rate has hit another record low.”

For God’s sake, what has HAPPENED to our people that they don’t want children anymore??? And this is no recent thing, this has been going on for decades. The number of acquaintances, friends and even siblings who have simply and deliberately chosen to stay barren is breathtaking. I’m actually bewildered by the phenomenon. I myself have only two and would have gone for three if my wife had wanted to and if not something bad had come in the way. But even so, our marriage has been ‘fruitful’ for Euro standards. I look around, and once you start checking out people you know, it’s astonishing how many have just one child, or none at all. In my own family, I have three siblings. Two of them opted for no kids, one mainly because she married a divorced man quite a few years older, and the other one did not want to have children but instead ‘develop’ herself. So I have two, and my third sister also. Which means that my parents made 4 children, and have a grand total of 4 grandchildren – or a birth rate of 1.0 – less than half of what is needed to keep the population constant.

In Belgium it’s on average 1.35, but you can be damn sure for authochtons it’s like in my family case – 1.0. Because in the official stats the allochton Belgians are also counted, and e.g. families of Turkish descent have at least 3.0.

In two generations, my country won’t be recognizable anymore. It’s immensely depressing.

    • “… if my wife had wanted to …” This is why. Women don’t want to be mothers and housewives any more. With the advent of the pill and abortion they control fertility. Feminism in the 1970s and the current crop of feminazis are closing the door on children. I wanted more children, after two my wife said no more.
The other problem is that the cost of raising children is so high. We are financially and physically helping my daughter and her husband with two children. Salaries have stagnated and the costs of everything has gone up. My mom never worked and there were 3 of us in the 1950s. Both my grandmothers had 7 children and never worked. They economized. Cooked, gardened, sewed, etc. My dad was a machinist.

    • Raising successful Western children is an enormously expensive, time-consuming, and fragile process that Western governments seem to actively oppose.

Most of the Ummah are more than happy to crank out 4 or 5 kids and provide them with the absolute basics for survival, which is a much cheaper strategy. Heck, with some of the handouts and set-asides available for immivaders raising kids in the West is practically FREE for many Ummah members.

      • I noted the tendency for Muslim invaders to break up Western societies and thus made it more difficult for any of us disadvantaged nonbelievers to start a family or to start a new life or to to even get a decent paying job. This happened whenever a communist system or Islamic system dominates.

Those close-knit Muslims communities are cunningly giving their own Islamic communities endless privileges to take over parts of towns via terrorizing and exploiting the western societies.

Hope it is not too late to reverse the situations.

They need to be expelled or else Western Europe is going to end up like those unproductive cesspits in Bosnia, Middle East, etc.

At the moment, those Oriental Muslims are denying us opportunities to be productive while they seek to continue to take more from us who already have been reduced to living a minimalist life in their oppressive Islamic hellholes.

        • wpass-

          In general, you are correct.

Western communities are becoming more and more atomized as time passes. There are many, many people who exist in a community of one.

The Ummah consider themselves one enormous community and tend to look out for each other, even if it is only on a very basic level.

  3. Another problem I worry about. If you don’t have children, you may be willing to lay all kinds of burdens on future generations, which you probably don’t have much interest in: Large tax bills, risky foreign policy, nuclear hijinx, high speed trains, etc.

  4. Why aren’t people having babies? Why don’t you ask the women?

Women invest huge physical and emotional resources into childbearing and rearing – but why have sons and daughters to see them die because of the greed and stupidity of their own leaders? Who wants to bring children into a totalitarian world where they will be no more than a number? A world where your daughter has to share her privacy with any adult male who professes himself a woman? And where your son may be encouraged to think he is female? Western women have been forced to do double duty since the 1960s – to bear and raise children AND go out and work but Muslim women can stay at home with their families. Don’t think European women haven’t noticed this. Men would have us believe it is because WE want to work. Ha! We are working and paying taxes so foreign women can stay at home and breed! Once again – why don’t you ask the women?
I remember quite clearly women being encouraged by doctors to take the contraceptive pill in the 1960s, how there was doom and gloom about overpopulation and dwindling resources. Then, to have fewer children was pronounced a ‘good’ thing. And men were on the plan one hundred percent. None of them wanted more than one or two children – if they wanted them at all. Women who had four or more children were denounced as irresponsible!
Governments may offer whatever they will to try to increase fertility in native European populations. Nobody believes them any more. And thinking that white women will breed with Africans is so ridiculous there only two ways to make that stupid idea work – legalise rape and criminalise all abortions – and I’ll bet the farm that is what the crazies in the EU are thinking of doing.

    • “Western women have been forced to do double duty since the 1960s – to bear and raise children AND go out and work”

Truth be told, the western wifes I know work even though they don’t have to. They will say that “they don’t want to be dependant on the man”, put the child in kindergarden, and go to work, and then, just as you do, they complain about the huge physical and emotional resources into childbearing and rearing.

I am so fed up by the “mother of all excuses” that I don’t care anymore, because by the same hand, these western wifeys don’t care about the huge physical and emotional resources a man has to put into jobs like telecom, power, oil, or north sea fishing. All they care for is how much money they can extract from their husbands. And they all have to go on family holiday – even if it ment the husband’s company will suffer. No woman as far as I can tell has any sympathy for the men, so why should I care about the “tough” job of being a mother?

The man-woman relationship is simply broken in this day and age, and the breaking mechanism, as I see it, is by providing women their new husband: The socialist state. The socialist state is the culprit that forced women to work. Not men…

  5. The authorities of Sakhalin have closed the organization “Sakhalin community of Muslims”, the very one that in 2015 stood up for the Koran. This is reported by the portal of Muslims of the Far East. Recall that in 2015, the Sakhalin court recognized certain texts of the Holy Quran as extremist, and Ramzan Kadyrov then called the judge, who adopted this decision, “Shaytan”. The story received a strong public response and reached the President of the Russian Federation. As a result, the law on countering extremist activity was amended to protect sacred texts, and the inadequate decision of the South Sakhalin judge was abolished. “It would seem that justice has triumphed, but after this hype, werewolves in epaulettes, initiating the ban of the texts of the Holy Qur’an, organized a real harassment of Muslims of Sakhalin with searches and provocations,” the Far Eastern Muslim portal writes. The “Sakhalin Muslim Community” closed by local authorities is one of the largest Muslim organizations in the Far East, which has successfully operated for the benefit of society for more than 10 years. It was she who at one time protested the decision of the Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk court to recognize the books sacred to Muslims as extremist texts, in particular, Sura “Fatih”.
