Spanish investigators have concluded that the terrorists who committed vehicular jihad in Barcelona on Thursday originally planned to blow up the Sagrada Familia Cathedral with a truckload of explosives. The butane tanks that exploded and destroyed a house on Wednesday night were to have been part of the attack. The mishap with the butane reportedly made the mujahideen decide to carry out the less deadly — but still horrific — ramming attack in downtown Barcelona.
In other news, the USS John McCain, a destroyer for the United States Navy, collided with an oil tanker in the Strait of Malacca. The mishap was the second such collision in just two months. “The U.S. Navy — Your Collision Specialist”.

What started out 16 months ago as a scandal involving the alleged theft of computer equipment from Congress has turned into a national-security investigation involving FBI surveillance of the suspects.
Investigators now suspect that sensitive US government data — possibly including classified information — could have been compromised and may have been sold to hostile foreign governments that could use it to blackmail members of Congress or even put their lives at risk.
“This is a massive, massive scandal,” a senior US official familiar with the widening probe told The Post.

Former Obama administration official Jeh Johnson said the removal of Confederate statues was a matter of “public safety and homeland security” on Sunday.
In the aftermath of deadly violence in Charlottesville, Va., when a man with white nationalist ties was arrested for ramming his car into a crowd of counter-protesters last week and killing a woman, Confederate monuments across the country have been taken down. The furor in Charlottesville began with a protest by white supremacists against the removal of a statue of Robert E. Lee.
Johnson served as Secretary of Homeland Security under Obama, and he said on ABC’s “This Week” that the monuments to Confederates were helping to rally white nationalists.

There’s only one thing that has been constant throughout the duration of Trump’s presidency, and that is the reaction of the people who oppose him.
Time after time the Left has responded to Trump’s actions and words with unfettered fear, paranoia, and highly publicized meltdowns. His mere presence in the White House seems to leave them hyperventilating, sobbing, and lashing out at anyone dares to support him, or even refuses to denounce him.
Believe it or not, the emotional vulnerability of these people hasn’t improved since he took office earlier this year. The New York Daily News recently interviewed several doctors and therapists around the country, and found that they’ve seen a huge spike in patients who have been freaking out about President Trump. Apparently, these medical professionals are referring to their anxiety as “President Trump Stress Disorder.”
The question isn’t whether their pain is real or not. It’s clearly real. It’s a matter of whether or not it’s justified. When Obama was in office, we didn’t see countless conservatives breaking down mentally and losing the ability to function, despite the fact that they were probably just as outraged with Obama as the Left has been with Trump. But what we’re seeing on the Left is an epidemic of mental distress since Trump took office.

NASA’s Risky Plan to Save us From Yellowstone Could Trigger a Massive Eruption
Government officials have been closely monitoring the activity in the Yellowstone caldera. However, scientists at NASA have now come up with an incredibly risky plan to save the United States from the super volcano.
A NASA scientist has spoken out about the true threat of super volcanoes and the risky methods that could be used to prevent a devastating eruption. Lying beneath the tranquil and beautiful settings of Yellowstone National Park in the US lies an enormous magma chamber, called a caldera. It’s responsible for the geysers and hot springs that define the area, but for scientists at NASA, it’s also one of the greatest natural threats to human civilization as we know it.
Brian Wilcox, a former member of the NASA Advisory Council on Planetary Defense, shared a report on the natural hazard that hadn’t been seen outside of the agency until now. Following an article published by BBC about super volcanoes last month, a group of NASA researchers got in touch with the media to share a report previously unseen outside the space agency about the threat Yellowstone poses, and what they hypothesize could possibly be done about it.
“I was a member of the NASA Advisory Council on Planetary Defense which studied ways for NASA to defend the planet from asteroids and comets,” explains Brian Wilcox of Nasa’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) at the California Institute of Technology. “I came to the conclusion during that study that the supervolcano threat is substantially greater than the asteroid or comet threat.”
Yellowstone currently leaks about 60 to 70 percent of its heat into the atmosphere through stream water which seeps into the magma chamber through cracks, while the rest of the heat builds up as magma and dissolves into volatile gasses. The heat and pressure will reach the threshold, meaning an explosion is inevitable. When NASA scientists considered the fact that a super volcano’s eruption would plunge the earth into a volcanic winter, destroying most sources of food, starvation would then become a real possibility. Food reserves would only last about 74 days, according to the UN, after an eruption of a super volcano, like that under Yellowstone. And they have devised a risky plan that could end up blowing up in their faces. Literally.
Wilcox hypothesized that if enough heat was removed, and the temperature of the super volcano dropped, it would never erupt. But he wants to see a 35% decrease in temperature, and how to achieve that, is incredibly risky. One possibility is to simply increase the amount of water in the supervolcano. As it turns to steam. the water would release the heat into the atmosphere, making global warming alarmists tremble.

Oregon Governor Signs Gun Confiscation Bill Into Law
Oregon Gov. Kate Brown on Wednesday approved Democrat-backed gun control legislation to establish Extreme Risk Protection Orders, forcing subjects to surrender their firearms.
The law, SB 719A, allows police, or a member of a subject’s family or household, to file a petition with the court which could lead to an order prohibiting firearms possession if it is believed they pose an imminent risk to themselves or others. The bill passed the Senate 17-11 in May and the House 31-28 last month, picking up only one Republican supporter along the way.
Brown, a Democrat, signed the bill without comment this week but in remarks to lawmakers during the legislative process she called Extreme Risk Protection Orders the “best way to ensure that a person who is at risk of harming themselves or others is identified, while still ensuring their rights are protected by a court review.”
The new law will establish a process for obtaining an order issued by a judge in a civil court prohibiting the subject from possessing or buying firearms or ammo for one year. It grants police enforcing such orders the power to search for and seize guns that were not surrendered or stored with a third party such as a gun dealer. The subject of the order has 30 days to request a hearing to keep their firearms, which must be held within 21 days.
Those filing fake orders could be imprisoned for up to a year, or pay a fine of up to $6,250, or both.

Organizer of Charlottesville’s Unite the Right Rally Described as Onetime Wannabe Liberal Activist
CHARLOTTESVILLE — After using his blog and Wes Bellamy’s Twitter history to make a name for himself last fall, those platforms are now being used against Jason Kessler, the “pro-white” activist who organized the Unite the Right rally that turned deadly on Saturday.
Articles and conspiracy theories about Kessler’s past as a supporter of President Barack Obama and wannabe liberal activist who participated in the Occupy movement abound now as President Donald Trump continues facing backlash for his response to the rally that resulted in one woman, as well as two state police officers in a separate incident, dying.
On Monday, Kessler uploaded a video hoping to dispel rumors that he intentionally organized a violent rally that would reflect poorly on the so-called alt-right movement of white nationalists. He accused the Southern Poverty Law Center, as well as less extreme nationalists, of spreading misinformation about him.
Earlier this summer, the SPLC labeled Kessler a white nationalist, and wrote a profile about him that included assertions that some people on white nationalist forums have been questioning his “ideological pedigree.”
“I grew up in Charlottesville. Anybody who’s seen the way Charlottesville was this weekend understands that it’s an incredibly left-wing, commie town,” Kessler, 33, said in a video he posted online Monday.
Kessler said that he used to align himself with the city’s politically left-leaning residents, but went on to say he was “red-pilled” about three years ago.
The term is a reference to the film “The Matrix,” and has been used by alt-right followers as a way to describe someone who has taken to “white identitarian” issues and now rejects ideas such as multiculturalism, feminism and political correctness. Critics argue that attachment to white identitarianism is nothing more than a veil for white supremacist beliefs.
But old tweets, a neighbor, a liberal activist and some of Kessler’s old friends attest that he held strong liberal convictions just a few years ago..

Suspects’ ‘Sex Fantasies’ Led to Fatal High-Rise Stabbing, Prosecutors Say
A former Northwestern professor and an Oxford University employee lured a 26-year-old man into a Near North Side high rise and stabbed him dozens of times to fulfill an elaborate, violent sexual fantasy, prosecutors said Sunday.
Wyndham Lathem, a former associate professor of microbiology, and Andrew Warren, a British national, were held without bail Sunday after prosecutors made the gruesome allegations public for the first time.
The two men had chatted online for months about their shared fantasy of killing other people and themselves, said Assistant State’s Attorney Natosha Toller.
In late July, they took the first steps toward carrying out that fantasy: Lathem paid for Warren to fly to Chicago, prosecutors said, and the two came up with a plan.
The two planned to slay victims of Lathem’s choosing, prosecutors said, and then the two men would kill each other simultaneously — Warren shooting Lathem while Lathem stabbed Warren.
And Lathem had decided on their first victim, prosecutors said: his boyfriend, 26-year-old Trenton Cornell-Duranleau.
On July 26, Lathem “lured” Cornell-Duranleau to his apartment in the 500 block of North State Street while texting Warren that they would kill him that night, according to Toller.
Warren came over about 4:30 a.m. the next day, after Cornell-Duranleau had fallen asleep in Lathem’s apartment, prosecutors said. Lathem showed Warren a six-inch drywall knife saw and gave him a cellphone, with instructions to record video of Lathem stabbing Cornell-Duranleau to death, according to prosecutors.
As Warren stood in the doorway to the bedroom, cellphone in hand, Lathem stabbed the sleeping Cornell-Duranleau “over and over in the neck and chest area,” Toller said.
Cornell-Duranleau woke up and began to scream and fight back, prosecutors said…

Terry and the (Antifa) Bandits Will Inherit the Wind
As the “Russian Collusion” excuse for Hillary’s loss fails for want of evidence (and common sense) as did her “misogyny” claim before it, Hillary’s pal, Governor Terry McAuliffe, obviously thought he had another keen plan to keep his party from utter ruin. Instead, he is more likely to have stirred up a whirlwind, which will sink his party even further in the voters’ eyes.
Led by Charlottesville Deputy Mayor Wes Bellamy (a McAuliffe appointee to the local school board now on leave for racist, sexist, homophobic tweets, the city council narrowly approved removing a statue of Robert E. Lee from a city park.
The move was opposed by traditional nationalists who think erasing history and disparaging a man who did so much to restore peace at the conclusion of the Civil War is wrong…
Buses bearing hundreds of Antifa in their distinctive masks and Unabomber garb, BLM, and other leftwing street thugs descended on the site, masked and armed with bats, clubs, and tear gas spray. They infiltrated the area set aside for Unite and when the police forced the legal demonstrators into the crowd, the Virginia police did nothing to stem the perfectly predictable violence. Indeed, at 11:52 a.m. Governor McAuliffe ordered the legal demonstrators out. When the mayhem continued, McAuliffe reportedly issued a stand-down order. It sure looks as if it was a setup. And surely the left got the message — the Democratic government of Virginia will do nothing to stop you — go for it and the media will cover for you. The right, too, got a message: the law will not protect you, even when you have the clear right to such protection. You are on your own if you dare to resist us. As my Facebook friend Harry Lewis observed: the governor and local Democrats wanted to foment violence “Because they want to depict the government as unable to maintain order, and violence is an acceptable way to achieve political objectives.”…

USS Indianapolis Discovered 18,000 Feet Below Pacific Surface
It’s been 72 years since the USS Indianapolis went missing after a Japanese submarine torpedoed it in the final days of World War II.
A team of civilian researchers led by Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen discovered the cruiser’s wreckage Friday on the floor of the Pacific Ocean, 18,000 feet below the surface. The discovery brings a measure of closure to one of most tragic maritime disasters in US naval history.
The Indianapolis sank in 12 minutes, making it impossible for it to send a distress signal or deploy life-saving equipment. Before the attack, on July 30, 1945, it had just completed a secret mission delivering components of the atomic bomb used in Hiroshima that brought an end to the war in the Pacific, according to the Naval History and Heritage Command in Washington.
Most of the ship’s 1,196 sailors and Marines survived the sinking only to succumb to exposure, dehydration, drowning and shark attacks. Only 316 survived, according to the US Navy. Of the survivors, 22 are alive today.

We Are Losing Our Free Speech, Part 2
On a head stone of a man that died in 1890 at the age of 78 he had engraved a warning about the Democrats. You cannot find an area in American life where free speech from the conservative point of view is not being attacked. Conservative speakers cannot go onto a liberal college campus and speak without riots, students destroying other people’s property, and they seem to do it with impunity. But there are other areas where the freedom to express one’s self is also being targeted and that is showing respect to those that have lost their lives in domestic terror attacks.
There is one university that has begun to practice shariah law. It is Southern Methodist University. I find it disgraceful that an American University is willing to capitulate to the demands of the people that murdered, in cold blood, 3,000 Americans on American soil! Southern Methodist University prevented a student group from predominantly displaying a 9/11 memorial that featured almost 3,000 American flags to honor those slain, according to a Wednesday report.
The school blocked its Young Americans for Freedom group from displaying the memorial on Dallas Hall Lawn because of a July 2017 policy that stressed its desire to “avoid messages that are triggering, harmful, or harassing” in the location, according to The College Fix.
The college will allow the group to display the memorial at a different location, but the two groups have different opinions concerning why the request for the first location was denied…

Canadian ISIS Member Identified by Interpol as ‘Potential Suicide Bomber’
A Canadian man is on an Interpol list that identifies Islamic State fighters believed to have been trained for suicide attacks in Europe, Global News has learned.

3 Vans Linked to Barcelona Terror Attack Suspect Located, Spanish Police Say
Three rental vans linked to the suspected driver in the deadly Barcelona terror attack were located Sunday, prompting a massive manhunt in northeastern Spain for members of an extremist cell who police believe had planned to carry out “one or more attacks with explosives” in the Spanish city.
The vans were rented using a credit card bearing the name of Younes Abouyaaquob, the 22-year-old Moroccan native still on the loose who is believed to be the driver who carried out Thursday’s terrorist plot in the city’s Las Ramblas popular tourist attraction, a police official told The Associated Press. Italy Expels Moroccans, Syrian as Terror Fears Mount
Italy said on Saturday it had deported two Moroccans and a Syrian on security grounds, lifting to 202 the number of potentially dangerous Islamists expelled since January 2015.
The announcement came as security was raised after vehicle attacks in Barcelona and elsewhere, and a widely-reported warning from the Islamic State group that Italy is next on its hit list.
Administrative expulsions, which are not subject to any appeal, are one of the main planks of Italy’s strategy for preventing the kind of jihadist attacks suffered by other European countries.
Sicily decided Saturday to introduce barriers preventing vehicular access to six pedestrianised areas of the island’s capital Palermo, reflecting fears of truck attacks.
Additional barriers are to be placed on potentially vulnerable locations in Milan, a meeting of regional security officials decided.
The prefecture for the Rome region approved an increase in the number of guards for its major tourist sports and said it would step up monitoring of trucks moving around the capital.
Although Italy has not yet suffered an Islamist attack, one person died and 1,500 were injured following a stampede caused by a bomb scare in a crowded Turin square in June.

Traces of the easy-to-make but deadly explosive TATP — known as the “mother of Satan” — have been found in a house where the alleged attackers in the twin assaults in Spain were believed to be building bombs, police said Sunday.

President Niinistö: “This Weekend, Terror Came to Finland”
Finnish President Sauli Niinistö met with reporters on Sunday, expressing concern over the online debate following Friday’s apparent terrorist incident in Turku. Meanwhile the top interior ministry official said “Finland remains the world’s safest country” as Muslim and Moroccan groups condemned the attack.

Report: Barcelona Jihadists Intended to Blow up Christian Basilica of Sagrada Familia
The Islamic terrorists who carried out a killing rampage in Barcelona earlier this week had plans to blow up the iconic Catholic basilica of la Sagrada Familia, according to new reports.
The Spanish newspaper El Español has noted that the jihadist cell had a stockpile of explosives at a nearby property in Alcanar (Tarragona) and intended to use three vans to detonate them in three different points of the city in order to inflict the greatest possible damage. An accidental explosion at the Alcanar estate on Wednesday left the terrorists without ammunition and forced them to improvise the vehicle attacks in Barcelona and Cambrils, the report states.
“They were preparing one or several attacks in Barcelona and an explosion in Alcanar stopped this as they no longer had the material they needed to commit attacks of an even bigger scope,” said Josep Lluis Trapero of Catalonia’s police.
The explosion killed one jihadists and left another in serious condition.

Spain: After Terror Attack, Barcelona Under Fire Over Security Barrier
Barcelona’s authorities came under fire Saturday for failing to put up security barriers at the seaside city’s main tourist thoroughfare, Las Ramblas, the site of a deadly jihadist attack two days ago.
An outcry has erupted on social media and in the press about the absence of bollards — short concrete posts designed to stop vehicles from driving onto sidewalks, with some people even demanding the mayor’s resignation for ignoring police recommendations for such preventive barriers.
But Ada Colau, the mayor of Barcelona, Spain’s most popular tourist destination, hit back, arguing that “it’s not the right place to talk today about what could have been avoided by placing bollards at Las Ramblas.”

Target: Explosion in the Cathedral
Spanish police fear ‘dismantled’ terror cell behind van and car atrocities was planning to use truck laden with butane bottles to blow up Gaudi’s Sagrada Familia temple, writes Lizzie Dearden
Spanish officials said yesterday that the terror cell responsible for the attacks in Barcelona and Cambrils had been “completely dismantled”.
However, it is believed that an international manhunt is still under way for the man thought to be the driver of the van which rammed into pedestrians.
The cell behind the attacks was planning a series of devastating assaults, potentially including a large-scale truck bomb, investigators revealed yesterday.
A huge search was under way across Europe last night for at least one jihadist feared to be still at large after plotting the attacks, as reports emerged that the cell may have planned to target the Sagrada Familia.
Police were last night still hunting for four suspects involved in the attacks, which left 13 dead in Barcelona and another victim dead in the seaside resort of Cambrils after they were ploughed into by a van and car. Five terrorists were also shot dead by police.
Plans for numerous attacks involving explosive gas canisters were abandoned by the terrorists only after the house in which they were being stored was accidentally blown up last week, police believe.
The revelation came as the suspected driver of the van who launched the assault in the Las Ramblas district of Barcelona was named as Younes Abouyaaqoub (22).
The identities of the victims of the attacks also started to emerge, including a Spanish father run down in front of his partner and young children. The family of a seven-year-old British boy who remains missing launched desperate appeals for information about his whereabouts.

Vandals Attack Moroccan Consulate, Mosque in Spain
Moroccan consulate in the Catalonian city of Tarragona was vandalized, local media reported on Sunday. The facade of the diplomatic mission building was stained with red paint. Consulate’s employees reached out to the police immediately, demanding an investigation into the incident.
According to the press, a local mosque in a nearby city was also subjected to the act of vandalism. The place of worship has been defaced by writings of a racist nature that contained death threats to the members of the Moroccan community.

USS John McCain Collides With Merchant Ship
BREAKING: The USS John McCain was involved in a collision with a merchant vessel on Monday morning, the Navy has said.
The collision between the US guided-missile destroyer and merchant vessel Alnic MC was reported at 6.24am Japan Standard Time.
The John McCain was underway east of Singapore and the Strait of Malacca, on its way to a routine port visit in Singapore. It is now sailing under its own power and heading to port, the Navy said.
The Alnic MC is an oil tanker that sails under the Liberain flag. It is 600feet long and has a gross tonnage of 30,040.
A news release from the Navy said: ‘Initial reports indicate John S. McCain sustained damage to her port side aft.
This collision comes just two months after the warship USS Fitzgerald crashed into Filipino cargo ship ACX Crystal off the cost of Honshu.

Despite Terror, Mass Sex Attacks, Merkel Still Stands by Her Decision to Open German Borders
German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Sunday stood by her decision to open Germany’s borders to hundreds of thousands of refugees two years ago, a move she has previously defended as a necessary response to a humanitarian emergency.
Asked during a pre-election television event with voters whether she would do things differently if faced with the same situation, Merkel said in retrospect, “I still think my decision was right.”

I don’t buy the mythical “14 year old” Soros being turned. The old saying, “give me a child until he’s six and he’s mine forever” applies here. Soros was bad long before the age of fourteen. And he’ll die evil.

If I may presume to answer for Mark S, “continual” means persistent, while “continuous” means never stopping. In GS’ case, I hope it’s both!
Assuming he can reach his conscience. I’m sure you are correct about him already being ‘bad’. A sensitive, caring 14 year old would have been devastated, yet he said they were the happiest years of his life under the Nazi boot. I guess by identifying with the Nazis he was thrilled by the sense of power over life and death, not to mention the ease of robbing people of their property, of which he was a specific witness, and he has put to good use.
Many others have hubris. Stephen Hawking, for example, who thinks of himself as inhabiting the Mind of God. Unfortunately with Soros, his enormous wealth enables him to spread his poison far and wide.
Perhaps his hubris is so inflated he could not countenance being wrong. But purgatory waits for us all, His will be a particularly long stay unless he is claimed by Lucifer, before he has a chance to think about repentance. A fitting end.

FIRSTLY: Return several million times as part of reliving the individual fates of those poor souls who were enslaved or slaughtered at Auschwitz, Birkenau, Treblinka, Bergen-Belsen, and all the other Nazi concentration camps. Those ditches in the Ukraine filled with bullet-riddled Jewish pogrom victims would be a fitting finale to this beginning round of “festivities”.
Soros deserves to experience the identical same (prolonged) suffering that his treachery caused for countless millions of Jews, gypsies, homosexuals, and handicapped victims of Nazi extermination and maliciously cruel eugenics.
SECONDLY: Soros deserves to experience the rape, desperation, brutality, and drowning of all the supposed “refugees” he has encouraged to plunge into the Mediterranean Sea or perish along those trans-border trails entering the Schengen Area.
THIRDLY: Soros ought to go through each and every last one of the violent sexual assaults, mass-gropings, shredded limbs, crushed bodies, and mangling mass-murders that have happened across all of Europe for the last several years.
FOURTHLY: Were I the most sympathetic type of person (which I usually am not), Soros would deserve to undergo all of the genital mutilation, so-called “honor killings”, being-turned-into-kebab-meat, along with every last “Easy Meat” perpetual gang rape, and drug-induced “grooming-related” bout of sexual abuse imaginable in modern-day Europe.
FINALLY: Soros would finish his hundred-millionth (at a minimum) return to this proverbial “mortal coil” by enduring all of the pain experienced by bomb-vest victims (AND THE ATTACKERS), going through the mourning and grieving involved with such insanely diabolical cruelty as in how Smadar Haran unintentionally suffocated her two-year-old daughter as she “hid from Samir Kuntar with her two-year-old daughter Yael, but accidentally smothered her to death in an effort to silence her cries”.
Samir Kuntar (Qantar), famous for being “known as the dean of Lebanese prisoners in Israeli jails” was “killed in a 2015 rocket strike near the Syrian capital, Damascus”.
It would seem that the IDF has a pachydermic memory when it comes to those who bash out the brains of a four-year-old-girl on rocks at the beach.

I was there last May and there were still heaps of tourists, but less Americans.

Just for the record, the unfinished Church of the Holy Family (“La Sagrada Familia”) in Barcelona is not a cathedral, though even the BBC got this wrong yesterday (shock horror!) The city has a cathedral, but it was remodelled in the C19th, not in the best taste.
La Sagrada Familia is not to everyone’s liking, especially the exterior, but when I first saw it in 2013 I was reduced to tears, and the interior is the most beautiful I’ve ever seen (as a “collector” of churches). It probably helps that it’s not cluttered with side chapels like so many Catholic (and some Anglican) churches. While I wouldn’t exchange any of the lives lost last week for it, I’m so glad the bombers didn’t get to it.

Factually incorrect. A caldera is the basin of an extinct volcano. Think Crater Lake Natl Park, at the top of Mt Mazama, one the Cascade Range volcanoes.
Yellowstone is situated at the western end of the Bighorn Basin, which is itself the caldera of a volcano that at one point broke the back of the North American continental divide. The eastern end is the Thermopolis hot springs; the entire area is volcanic.
