Survivors of the Cedar-Riverside explosion in Minneapolis, along with some of their relatives, have filed a lawsuit demanding damages because of the incident. The explosion and fire occurred on New Year’s Day 2014 in the “Little Mogadishu” area of Minneapolis. Three people were killed in the blast and a number of others were wounded. The cause of the fire has never been officially determined, but the plaintiffs are suing the property owners and the gas company, anyway.
In other news, the Spanish NGO Proactiva Open Arms has criticized the Libyan coast guard for firing a warning shot near its “rescue” vessel looking for migrants along the Libyan coast.

On Thursday morning, for the second time in so many days, North Korea threatened to attack the US territory of Guam with nuclear weapons. Taken together with Pyongyang’s two intercontinental ballistic missile tests last month, and the US’s Defense Intelligence Agency’s acknowledgment this week that North Korea has the capacity to miniaturize nuclear bombs and so launch them as warheads on missiles, these threats propelled the US and the world into a nuclear crisis.
To understand what must be done, it is critical we recognize how we reached this point. We have arrived at the point where an arguably undeterrable regime has achieved the capacity to attack the US with nuclear weapons due to the policy failure of three successive US administrations.
The Clinton, Bush and Obama administrations all opted not to take concerted action against North Korea, instead embracing the easy road of appeasement. All three let the threat grow as they kicked the North Korean nuclear can down the road. They engaged in nuclear talks with Pyongyang that North Korea exploited to develop nuclear weapons and missile systems.
North Korea’s threats and capabilities tell us that the can has reached the end of the road. It can be kicked no further.
Unfortunately, neither the State Department nor the US media seem to have noticed. CCW Reciprocity Law Can Skewer Self-Defense Opponents, Says the Gun Dean
“Enactment of a national CCW reciprocity law could cut the legs out from under opponents of the right to self-defense and send anti-gun proponents packing,” gun policy expert and police adviser John M. Snyder told Conservative Base on Monday.
Besides the Washington Post and New York Times dubbing Snyder the “dean of Washington gun lobbyists,” he is a well-known law enforcement advisory board member for both the National Association of Chiefs of Police (NACOP) and the American Federation of Police & Concerned Citizens (AFP&CC).
“It’s time for Congress to move forward with this proposal,” he declared. “President Donald Trump already has indicated he favors such legislation,” he reminded readers. Some initial endorsements Trump received during the early days of his presidential campaign was from the National Rifle Association (NRA), the National Border Patrol Council, and the union representing Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents and officers.
Snyder explained: “Such a law would enable an individual who legally could carry a concealed firearm in a state to carry [it] throughout the country. It would enable a man or woman legally qualified to carry a concealed firearm in one state to carry in other states as well. It would under-cut the anti-gun laws of states that are recalcitrant in recognizing the right to keep and bear arms, even for self-defense. The right to carry situation in some ways would be similar to national automobile driving reciprocity.”
“The National Rifle Association, Gun Owners of America, Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms and other firearms rights organizations support some form of this legislative concept,” Snyder noted. “The Second Amendment community is in strong support of this legislation,” he added.
“On Capitol Hill, the framework for some form of national concealed reciprocity already has been set,” said Snyder, who is a former editor for NRA magazines.

CNN Analyst on Trump: “The Government’s Gonna Kill This Guy”
Phil Mudd’s bizarre on-air comments fluster Jake Tapper
CNN counterterrorism analyst and former CIA agent Philip Mudd said on air “the government’s gonna kill” Donald Trump because he disrespected the deep state.
Mudd subsequently clarified that he meant the phrase metaphorically, but the comments have caused alarm amongst Trump supporters.
“Let me give you one bottom line — as a former government official, the government’s gonna kill this guy,” said Mudd.
“He defends Vladimir Putin, there are State Department and CIA officers coming home and at Langley and in Foggy Bottom CIA are saying, this is how you defend us?’“ Mudd added.
CNN host Jake Tapper subsequently gave Mudd a chance to clarify his comments, remarking, “Obviously when you’re talking about killing you’re using that as a metaphor.”
“Well obviously yeah,” responded Mudd, before going on to say, “People talk about the deep state, when you disrespect government officials who’ve done 20 or 30 years, they’re gonna say ‘really — Vladimir Putin sends officers home and you support him before you support us?’“
Mudd’s clarification was odd because of his reference to the “deep state” immediately after he talked about the government killing Trump.

Google Cancels “Diversity Meeting” After Employee Leaks to “Right-Wing” Websites
Mr. Damore’s firing “has made it explicitly clear that any view not left (of) center is not welcome.”
Following the debacle of James Damore’s ‘Diversity’ memo and subsequent firing, Google decided a companywide townhall meeting was necessary to address staff concerns with executives planning to field employees’ questions voted on by their peers. The questions with the most votes would get asked.
A sampling of some of the most popular questions as of Tuesday, according to employees, reflects the spectrum of views on the memo and its fallout.
One question asks how Google will protect female employees who have been harassed online for criticizing the memo. Another asks whether Google lowers the bar for diversity candidates.
Some questions complain about how conservatives aren’t welcome at Google.
And one asks how Google plans to stop leaks to the press.
A person familiar added that an additional top question was: “What can we do to clarify for the entire company that there is one hiring bar,” regardless of race or gender? However, as The Wall Street Journal reports, the meeting has been cancelled because right-wing websites published the names of employees who had proposed questions, raising security concerns…
As The Wall Street Journal concludes, however, Google’s liberalism was clear at an internal town-hall meeting after the presidential election, where top executives commiserated with employees over Donald Trump’s victory, according to a recording of the meeting viewed by the Journal.
Alphabet Chief Financial Officer Ruth Porat, who publicly supported Hillary Clinton, called the election results “a kick in the gut.” Executives fielded a variety of questions over the hourlong meeting but none of the questions were in support of Mr. Trump’s victory.
Which makes the following even more troubling for giant tech firm, in the mobile app Blind, where users must use their work email addresses to verify they are employees at a given company, a survey of Google employees reflected the divisions.

For many years, whenever one Googled “jihad,” Jihad Watch was the first result. This was back in the days when Google’s results were based on the relevance of the subject matter to the search and the popularity of the site. But then Google began engaging in social engineering, attempting to manipulate opinion by changing the results of searches to lead people to sites that offered the perspectives it favored. Then when one searched for “jihad,” Jihad Watch became the second result, and then the fourth, even though our readership was steadily rising; replacing it at the top were Islamic apologetics sites with a fraction of the readership, offering soothing falsehoods about the meaning of jihad. That manipulation wasn’t enough to divert people away from the truth. Now, if you search for “jihad,” Google will give you a whole page full of Islamic apologetics, and Jihad Watch doesn’t appear on the front page at all. Is this because our readership has plummeted? No, quite the contrary. It is because Google is now fully committed not to allowing people to search the Internet, but to controlling what they find when they do. Study finds diet drinks could trick the brain into making you fatter and even trigger diabetes.
But diet products that do not taste sweet confuse the brain into thinking there are fewer calories to burn than there are.
This causes the body’s metabolism to drop, storing up the products as fat, claim researchers at Yale University, US.
Senior author Prof Dana Small said: “A calorie is not a calorie.
“When sweet taste and energy are not matched, less energy is metabolised and inaccurate signals go to the brain. Either may affect metabolic health.”

Missing Denver Man Died in Elevator After Twice Pushing Emergency Button
An elderly man who died in a parking-garage elevator had pushed the emergency button twice during an 8-minute span July 6 but got no response despite Denver code requiring elevator operators to monitor emergency notifications around the clock.
Unable to escape the elevator car — possibly because of dementia — 82-year-old Isaak Komisarchik died between the morning of July 6 and Aug. 2, when elevator repair workers finally discovered the body after multiple residents of the apartment complex reported a terrible stench.
When a Denver firefighter responded, the elevator doors were open. Elevator maintenance workers had just found Komisarchik’s body inside the car, Denver Fire Department spokesman Capt. Greg Pixley said.
A criminal investigation confirmed the number of times the emergency button was pushed, Pixley said. Now detectives are trying to determine why no one responded.

School Board Removes “Lynch” From the Name of Three Schools Because it Was Deemed Offensive
Every time that the absurdity of political correctness reaches a new peak in our culture, it’s easy to assume that it can’t get any worse. But if we’ve learned anything over the past few years, it’s that it can always get worse. For people who have their entire identity wrapped up in being oppressed and downtrodden, the limit to what they can be offended by is absolutely bottomless. Which is why it shouldn’t come as a surprise that a school board in Oregon recently voted to remove the name “Lynch” from several elementary schools. You can probably guess why.
Lynch Meadows Elementary, Lynch Woods Elementary and Lynch View Elementary were all named after a local family who donated land to the school district in the late 1800s.
In recent years, school officials say they have received complaints from people who are concerned about the name’s connotation with lynching.
‘There were an increasing amount of questions and some complaints from families of color around the name,’ Centennial School District Superintendent Paul Coakley, who is black, told the Oregonian.
‘Our diversity is increasing every year, with families coming in from Northeast Portland and out of state, so [the names] needed to be looked at,’ he added.
The fact that “Lynch” is an actual surname held by perhaps tens of thousands of people and has been around for hundreds of years, was of no consequence to the perpetually offended people who wanted these schools to change their names.

Survivors of Cedar-Riverside Explosion File Lawsuit
MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP)- It’s been nearly four years since a deadly explosion rocked the Cedar-Riverside neighborhood.
The 2014 New Year’s Day blast at an apartment complex at 510 Cedar Avenue South killed three people. A dozen survivors Thursday filed suit in Hennepin County, claiming the tragedy could have been prevented.
In 2014, Ismail Adan told Fox 9 he was devastated to learn his cousin was among the injured.
“He told me he jumped from the top into the street and he injured his hip,” Adan shared through an interpreter at the time.
Fourteen people were taken to nearby hospitals. Some of the twelve who survive sustained serious injuries and endure long, painful recoveries.
The formal cause of the explosion remains undetermined.
The twelve survivors named in the suit include either victims or their surviving relatives, each now sues both CenterPoint Energy Resources and Wadani Properties, LLC.
Allegations include negligence, fail to warn, design defects and breach of warranty.
The 22-page complaint maintains CenterPoint Energy’s high pressure gas service lines were inside the complex, instead of outside, increasing the chance of a blast.
The suit also alleges Wadani Properties failed to provide working smoke detectors.
The plaintiffs’ attorney, Aaron Eken, cites at the time of the explosion, there were several “inoperative gas heating facilities.”
Further, the suit alleges aside from the absence of gas detectors, nobody living inside was adequately warned of gas leak risks.
The suit seeks at least $750,000 in damages.

When in doubt, cry racism. It’s the left’s go-to weapon when the facts are against them. School choice advocates, then, should be heartened: Progressives lately have had to stoop low, get dirty, and hurl mudballs in our direction, because that’s all they’ve got.
This month progressives let fly three separate volleys, hoping the “racist” argument would somehow find its mark. The New York Times, the Center for American Progress, and the American Federation of Teachers all argued that educational choice is “racist,” rooted in “slavery,” and a cover for “segregation.” (One commentator also blames “anti-Catholic sentiment and a particular form of Christian fundamentalism.”) Worse, they declare authoritatively, “choice” will spell the end of democracy, as we know it…
The message, writes the Cato Institute’s Neal McClusky, is that “private school choice is the work of racists.” We can expect that message to “be a major weapon wielded by opponents of educational freedom for the foreseeable future.”
It won’t work. America’s schools are failing — both the left and the right know this. The expiration date is long past on the left’s stale “solutions” to America’s crisis in education. They’ve had their turn; it’s time for parents to take the reins. In minority communities in particular, parents want choice. They reject the lie that “school choice” equals “segregation” and, according to McCluskey, “survey literature — African-Americans speaking for themselves” — shows they “overwhelmingly” support educational choice. Kevin P. Chavous of the American Federation for Children, agrees: “[T]oday’s private school choice movement has been overwhelmingly embraced with open arms by minority families across the country … test scores, graduation rates and the number of students enrolled in college have improved because of vouchers, tax credit scholarships, and Education Savings Account programs. The vast majority of students seeing these benefits are from low-income, working-class, and minority families.”
Educational choice gives lower-income families the same opportunities enjoyed by wealthier families. As David French writes, “Wealthy Americans have enormous educational advantages. They can afford private-school tuition… They can afford homes in the best school districts. They can employ private tutors and create the most lavish and interactive home-schooling experience. The rest of America? They’re typically reduced to no choice at all. There’s the mediocre public school in the moderately priced neighborhood or the dreadful school in the cheapest district. That’s it. There is nothing else…”

Victim Killed in Professor’s Chicago Apartment Was Stabbed Over 40 Times
CHICAGO — A 26-year-old hair stylist suffered more than 40 stab wounds to his upper body in a fatal attack last month in the high-rise Chicago condo of a Northwestern University professor, police announced Friday.
The since-fired professor, Wyndham Lathem, and Oxford University financial officer Andrew Warren were arrested in the San Francisco area eight days after Trenton James Cornell-Duranleau was found dead last month.
Cornell-Duranleau suffered “lacerations and mutilations to his body, his upper body, but not to the point of decapitation,” Chicago police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said. He described the attack as “certainly very intense.”
Authorities have said the attack on Cornell-Duranleau, a Michigan native who moved to Chicago last year, was so brutal that the blade of the knife investigators believe was used in the stabbing was broken. When police found him, he had already been dead for at least 12 hours.

UK: Nigel Farage Claims Politcal Correctness Allows Grooming Gangs to Thrive
NIGEL FARAGE lashed political correctness, arguing that authorises have been put off from investigating grooming gangs in the past due to fear of being labelled racist.
Speaking on his LBC show, Farage insisted that more had to be done to put a stop to grooming gangs.
The remarks came after a court hearing earlier this week which saw 17 men and one woman convicted of rape, sexual assault, human trafficking and inciting prostitution as the city of Newcastle.

Vegans Angered as Bank of England to Keep Animal Fat in Banknotes
The Bank of England has announced it will continue to use plastic banknotes containing traces of animal fat, in a move that is likely to outrage animal rights activists.
A row broke out in November when the central bank admitted that its new five pound notes contain tallow with more than 137,000 people signing a petition demanding it “cease to use animal products in the production of currency that we have to use”.
On Thursday, the Bank said that “after careful and serious consideration and extensive public consultation there will be no change to the composition of polymer used for future banknotes”.
Vegetarian Tory MP Henry Smith was one of a number of social media users who tweeted their disappointment over the news.
Some religious groups, including Sikhs and Jains, were also unhappy that the new £5 banknotes contain animal products, with the National Council of Hindu Temples having issued a statement which said the new £5 note “ceases to be a simple medium of exchange but becomes a medium for communicating pain and suffering and we would not want to come into contact with it”.
The Bank said it “had not taken this decision lightly”, and had taken consideration of its obligations under the Equality Act 2010, but reported that the only viable alternative would be to use palm oil which “raises questions about environmental sustainability”.

Egypt Police Kill 3 Jihadists Behind Anti-Coptic Attacks
An officer also died in a shootout in the southern province of Qena on Tuesday, security officials said.
Egypt is battling a local affiliate of the Islamic State terror group, which has claimed attacks that have killed more than 100 Copts since December.
The shootout occurred after a suspected jihadist, who had previously been detained, guided police to an alleged hideout in Qena, the ministry said in a statement.
“As soon as the security forces reached the location, the terrorist elements suddenly opened fire using all types of weapons, which forced them to retaliate,” it said.
The shootout led to the killing of the detained suspect, a policeman who was guarding him, and two other suspected jihadists, the ministry said.
At the hideout, police found weapons and “gold jewellery which was probably stolen from some of the Christian victims” of a previous attack.

Number of Migrants Reaching Italy Down Since June
New arrivals are down in July as the Italian navy ship Tremiti arrives in Tripoli to continue to provide training to the Libyan coast guard.
The number of migrants who reached Italy by sea was 11,459 in July 2017, according to UNHCR sea arrivals data, down from 23,524 in June.
The number is less than half the 23,522 who arrived in July 2016. Nigerian and Bangladeshi nationals still represent the largest groups among new arrivals.

Military Transgender Funding is Unconstitutional

You see, government has NO right to go outside the bounds God has set for it. These bounds are what the Declaration calls the Laws of Nature and the Laws of Nature’s God, which we call Revealed Law — the Bible.
As we just read, God created man and woman with no in between or ability to transition out of their sex. The Laws of Nature and science distinguish individuals with 2 X chromosomes as a female, or individuals with X & Y chromosomes, as a male. How then can government be expected to secure God-given rights when it finances and attempts through a so-called sex change to mutilate the nature of the humanity God created?

Skyrocketing Male Infertility May Threaten Mankind’s Survival
Human fertility is in a downward spiral, scientists warn and modern life — with its technological and chemical “progress” — is likely to blame. Female infertility tends to get the most attention, but in this case, it’s male infertility that has made headlines, as recent research shows sperm concentration and quality has dramatically declined in recent decades.
According to the first of two recently published papers, a meta-analysis of 185 studies and the largest of its kind, sperm counts around the world declined by more than 50 percent, to 47 million sperm per milliliter (mL), between 1973 and 2013, and continue to dwindle.
The most significant declines were found in samples from men in North America, Europe, Australia and New Zealand, where many had sperm concentrations below 40 million/mL. (Men suspected of infertility, such as those attending IVF clinics, were excluded from the study.) Overall, men in these countries had a 52.4 percent decline in sperm concentration and a 59.3 percent decline in total sperm count (sperm concentration multiplied by the total volume of an ejaculate).
Male Infertility Rates Warn of Impending Human Extinction
According to the World Health Organization, 40 million sperm per mL is considered the cutoff point at which a man will have trouble fertilizing an egg, which means half of the men in most developed nations are near or at the point of being infertile. South American, Asian and African men had no noticeable decline, although this discrepancy could be due to the smaller sample sizes obtained from those countries.
As noted by Frederick vom Saal, professor emeritus of biological sciences at the University of Missouri, who was not involved in the study, these findings are a wake-up call and a warning that “we are in a death spiral of infertility in men.” Indeed, lead author Dr. Hagai Levine, who called the results “profound” and “shocking,”7 worries that human extinction is a very real possibility, should the trend continue unabated.8

Myself, I think that civilizational stress has something to do with it. Just like cancer, diabetes, and heart disease are largely diseases of civilization, so maybe infertility as well. But if it is microwaves, it should show up everywhere. Maybe it’s both? In that case, all the big cities in developing nations should show a big decline of fertility.

The thing is that I have also been awakened, and can see similiar patterns even in my country which though
not as extreme, is bubbling under the surface, even though it is a different problem. Actually it is extreme as it is regularly killing children here, in a form of violent child abuse, often covered up with culture, feminism, to have more welfare, and because of “poverty”.I used to ignore it, “none of my business”, even though I was unhappy about some things, and nor did I really understand it, so I could not express exactly what and why? It was easy to be given fudged formulaic political science human right answers, though not happy, sort of accepted them.
I did things to help people occasionally when I know them, and if they were seeking help, but not as a ‘soft soak’ as some would want, and how I see some church helpers do..

Ann Coulter did a brilliant column on woman voters years ago – possibly in the New York Post in 2007. It seems to have been taken down, Google searching brings up tons of lefty sites quoting her and having hissy fits, but not the original article.
She effectively said the neo-Marxists “long march through the institutions” depended on women having the franchise, to be effective. She claimed that every single loony-left government in western democratic nations political history, was elected by the women’s vote and would not have won otherwise, never gaining a majority among male voters at any time.

I was trying to find the original Ann Coulter article and it was her questioning of woman’s franchise. All I can find is snippets of it I think, and then it is derided. I can not recall how it was balanced, if she saw any solution or left it as an open ended question.

That slaughter won’t even be 100% motivated by the fact the self-haters are Western. Part of the motivation will stem from the fact that no one respects people who don’t respect themselves.
Don’t draw conclusions about the driver of that 2010 Dodge who rammed people, and then reversed back up 4th Street to Market. He’s been arrested, but his name has not yet been released. The owner of the car, based on the number of the Michigan plate, is listed as Joel Vangheluwe, who is indeed a Trump-hater, based on a Facebook (I think) post that reads: “Trump should have been aborted.” The Cincinatti paper says the car is not listed as stolen. Nevertheless, we do not yet know that he is in fact the man who was arrested. I await the official announcement of his name and the release of his mug shot.
I would really like to know who in hell thought it would be a good idea to allow these two groups of idiots to protest in the same place at the same time. Somebody had to get a permit to demonstrate, and later, someone else either got a permit or else organized a counter-protest without a permit. Either way, the powers that be allowed two opposing groups to occupy the same space at the same time. What did they think (want) to happen? Who would you say is responsible for any deaths or injuries that result?
The protesters had a permit. The counter-protesters did not. The permit was withdrawn before the rally, due to the violence that had already occurred. The protesters and counters dispersed into the nearby streets. Police did NOT keep the warring groups apart.
The driver of the marauding vehicle has been identified as James Fields, of Maumee, Ohio. He has been arrested and charged, and is in the Charlottesville jail without bail until his arraignment on Monday.
That earlier ID of the owner was spurious, probably through mistaking the state on the car’s plate.
Pretty sure press photos show the license plate as being from Ohio.

That’s a curiosity to a Brit (or, I daresay, many inhabitants of mid-sized developed countries); our number plates are issued locally, but identical in format and coordinated centrally, so there’s no duplication. I daresay that if the same system were used in the US, you’d need plates several feet wide!
