Gates of Vienna News Feed 6/30/2017

One of four mujahideen arrested recently in Mallorca was planning a massacre in a city center modeled after the vehicle-and-knife jihad attacks in London. Meanwhile, London is facing the possibility the jihadis may run down pedestrians using mopeds, which can get through the new barriers via gaps designed for bicycles.

In other news, a man went on a rampage with a knife in a market in Tunisia, wounding two German tourists.

Face of the Venezuela Crisis: Helicopter Attacks, Alleged Coup and Clash of Powers

The political crisis in Venezuela intensified this week when President Nicolas Maduro warned of an alleged “American intervention,” a police helicopter attacked the country’s highest court with grenades and more young people died in protests against the government.

But beyond those headlines this week is a country on the brink of collapse.

The socialist country is dealing with triple-digit inflation, political turmoil, food and medicine shortages and worsening crime.

And the problems keep getting worse.

On Tuesday, Maduro asked for President Donald Trump to stop an alleged plot by his government and the “Venezuelan right” to give him a “coup.”

Venezuela Selling Gold, Goldman Selling Venezuela Bonds?

Venezuela is nearly broke but still has a great deal of gold, which accounts for three quarters of its foreign reserves of just more than $10 billion.

A guest on Bloomberg Radio Friday morning suggested that Venezuela could be selling gold to pay for chemicals to dilute its domestic “heavy” oil for fuel. Meanwhile, Goldman Sachs Asset Management reportedly sold Venezuela bonds with a face value of at least $300 million to a small group of hedge funds in recent days, according to an anonymous source quoted by MarketWatch, which notes that the Goldman bond purchase in May drew harsh criticism from Venezuelan opposition leaders and others who think investors should not finance the authoritarian regime of President Nicolás Maduro. Food and necessities have been in short supply for an extended period, and anti-government protests have left more than 50 people dead this year.

Why Stocks Keep on Rallying

Stocks have been going up since 2009. What’s driving this, and how long can the bulls keep on running?

[…]So why aren’t stocks correcting? It turns out there are a few good reasons as to why stocks have rallied for so long.

Central Bank Support

By far the biggest reason for the prolonged rally, in spite of lukewarm GDP growth and sky-high valuations, is continuing money-printing by not just the Fed but by all global central banks.

Although most central banks do not buy stocks directly, they buy bonds, which in turn affects the stock market.

“The stock market is very expensive but doesn’t go down, because the bond market is even more expensive. Valuations are very high because bond yields are low. That’s the effect of central banks printing $200 billion per month in a period where there is no crisis,” said economist and author Daniel LaCalle. …

The only thing able to change investors’ perception about the future of earnings and the economy is a recession. “The structure of the stock market is terrible but the imbalances will only get corrected in a recession,” said Pal.

In fact, government bond yields are already at recession levels and have been for some time. “You look at the bond market and it comes to the opposite conclusion than stocks: ‘We are stuck in a low growth period, and we don’t get out,’“ said Snider.

American “Fear of Sharia” Is Anything But “Silly”

[…]Hmm, a new problem seems to have sprung up: some disembodied entity at Google apparently decided, with a few swipes of a bear-paw, to censor all the contents from these historically accurate think-tank postings. What is Google trying to keep you from knowing? Material that would be more dangerous for you to know or more dangerous for you not to know? How considerate of Google to have made this decision for you! …

Rauf then proceeds to defend sharia against its detractors.

“Sharia is not about amputations and stoning,” he assured readers, again incorrectly.

Rauf continues: “…Within the history of Islam, they have rarely occurred.” A short search in google belies that.

“What Islamic law does prescribe,” he goes on, in a breathtaking example of taqiyya [obfuscation] and kitman [dissimulation] — which are both permitted[2] in Islam under certain circumstances, such as to defend Islam — “are the same do’s [sic] and don’ts of the Ten Commandments — the social imperatives most of us recognize whatever our religion.”

CNN Producer on New O’Keefe Video: Voters Are ‘Stupid, ‘ Trump is ‘Crazy’

Conservative provocateur and Project Veritas founder James O’Keefe released a fourth secretly recorded video early Friday morning that shows a CNN associate producer calling American voters “stupid as s***” and saying Trump senior counselor Kellyanne Conway looks like “she got hit with a shovel.”

In a video released overnight by O’Keefe on Twitter, a Project Veritas reporter asked CNN associate producer Jimmy Carr, who doesn’t appear to know he’s being recorded, if it “would be fair to question the intellect of the American voter.”

“Oh, no. They’re stupid as s — -,” replied the CNN “New Day” associate producer.

Carr also spoke about President Trump, saying everyone inside the network recognizes “he’s just f***-ing crazy.”

Cyberattack Forces West Virginia Hospital to Scrap Computers

Petya attack forces Princeton Community Hospital to use paper records as it scraps, rebuilds computer network

Princeton Community Hospital in rural West Virginia will scrap and replace its entire computer network after being struck by the cyberattack paralyzing computers globally.

The cyberattack, known as Petya, froze the hospital’s electronic medical record system early Tuesday, leaving doctors unable to review patients’ medical history or transmit laboratory and pharmacy orders, said Rose Morgan, the hospital’s vice president of patient care services.

Officials were unable to restore services, and found there was no way to pay a ransom for the return of their system. So, after consulting with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and cybersecurity experts, officials made the decision to replace the system.

“It’s Not Over!” Juncker Admits Eurosceptic Revolution Could Still Rise to Destroy EU

JEAN-CLAUDE Juncker today admitted that the eurosceptic surge which swept the continent last year is “not over” and could still threaten the very future of the EU project.

Sounding a rare note of realism the EU Commission chief conceded that the performance of defeated French populist Marine Le Pen showed there was still deep underlying dissatisfaction with the bloc.

And he warned eurocrats they needed to explain what Brussels does more clearly, saying their preference for technical jargon meant few people properly understood its actions.

German Court: Sharia Police May Patrol Streets

We have also seen Sharia vigilantes in Britain. In both Britain and Germany, authorities cracked down on them. But now a German court has allowed them to operate, and even if they’re ultimately stopped again, time is on their side. In a few years, they will be able to start up operations again, with non-Muslim authorities too weak and compromised to do anything to stop them.

Germany Imposes €50 Million Fines on Social Media Firms That Don’t Delete Hate Speech

Germany’s parliament voted Friday to punish social media giants with fines of up to €50 million if they systematically fail to remove illegal hate speech.

Berlin took the measure, one of the toughest in the world, after a surge in racist and incendiary speech online, particularly since the arrival of around one million asylum-seekers since 2015.

Under German law, Holocaust denial, incitement of hatred, and racist and anti-Semitic speech are illegal.

But critics warned that the prohibitive fines would stifle legitimate free speech by prompting online giants like Twitter and Facebook to excessively delete and censor posts as a precaution.

Ten-month-old Charlie Gard was sentenced to die by the European Court of Human Rights (EHCR), Tuesday, who ruled against potentially life-saving treatment for him.

The ECHR ordered that Gard’s life support be shut off and blocked him from travel to the U.S. for experimental treatment for which Gard’s parents raised over $1.7 million. Doctors diagnosed the infant boy with a rare mitochondrial disease, according to a report from Daily Mail. The court labeled the Gard’s appeal case “inadmissible” and upheld the previous decision of the U.K. High Court, saying their decision in Gard’s case was “final.”

Jihadist Planned to Carry Out ‘Massacre’ In Mallorca

One of four suspected jihadists arrested in Mallorca this week planned to carry out an attack in the town of Inca, an investigating judge has said.

It is believed that the man — named as Moroccan Abdulkader Mahmoudi — was poised to carry out an attack using a knife to stab people, following the modus operandi of the recent London Bridge attacks in which 8 people were killed and more than 40 injured. In this way he intended to “realize his plan to become a martyr,” said Judge Santiago Pedraz.

“With the legislation we’ve had so far, we have to trust the municipalities to act,” Johansson said. “Putting the state in a more active role means more effective prevention.”

Terror Suspect Arrested in Mallorca Was Planning “Massacre” on the Island

After questioning Mahmoudi and the three other men arrested on Wednesday, High Court judge Santiago Pedraz has ordered the four to be held in custody.

After listening to telephone conversations as well as analyzing material confiscated by police, the judge has concluded that the four men are members of a group set up by Tarik Chadlioui, a Salafist imam who has recruited people to Jihadist cells and who has traveled from abroad to Mallorca repeatedly to build a terrorist structure.

Caroline Glick: Who Cares About Jewish Unity?

There are four important aspects to the government’s decisions on Sunday relating to egalitarian prayer at the Western Wall and the conversion bill. The first is that by and large, the headlines of the stories distort rather than explain what the government decided.

The second is the nature of the American Jewish community’s response to the government’s moves.

The third important aspect of the story is what the government’s decisions tell us about how the government perceive Israel’s relations with the American Jewish community.

Finally, the aftershocks of the decisions tell us something important about the prospects for Jewish unity today.

To the first issue. From the headlines in the newspapers, it is easy to assume that the government just struck a blow at egalitarian prayer at the Western Wall plaza and changed for the worse the status of non-Orthodox conversions in Israel. But neither is the case.

Violence Against Women: Some Inconvenient Data for the Corrupt UN

The United Nations panels lovingly practice hypocrisy all the time. In 2016, a UN debate revolved around the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), which voted to blame Israel for Palestinian domestic violence. This year’s show was hardly different in the content of nonsense. The executive director of UN Watch, Hillel Neuer, asked Dubravka Simonovic, UN Special Rapporteur on Violence against Women, at a session on June 12: “Ms. Simonovic, in other words, what you are saying is as follows: ‘When Palestinian men beat their wives, it’s Israel’s fault.’“

At first glance it sounds like dark humor, but it is not. Not just one but two reports presented before the UNHRC by Simonovic argue that Israel is to blame for Palestinian violence against women, through “a clear linkage between the prolonged occupation and violence”.

Where, Neuer asked Simonovic, is the data? There is data, but not the kind that Simonovic would prefer to believe exists.

According to the Global Gender Gap Index of the World Economic Forum, there is not a single overwhelmingly Muslim nation in the best 50 scoring list of countries. In contrast, the last (worst) rankings of the index, from 128th to 144th, are without exception overwhelmingly Muslim countries, including Turkey at the 130th place. Turkey’s case is important to note, as the increasing supremacy of Islamist politics in daily life in the country has boosted patriarchal behavior and worsened gender equality since 2002, when President (then Prime Minister) Recep Tayyip Erdogan came to power. In other words Turkey, the 17th biggest economy in the world, is the 15th-last country in terms of gender equality.

What Are Genies?

Genies (or jinn, as they are better known in the Arabic world) are supernatural beings with roots in ancient Mesopotamian legends. Jinn, however, are not the lamp-dwelling, wish-granting benevolent servants that Westerners know from popular culture.

In contrast to Western versions of jinn, in the Arab world they are not known for their “Aladdin”-like wish-granting — though they can be commanded to perform tasks by wizards, for example, or someone who wears the magical Ring of Solomon.

Jinn are sometimes blamed for unexplained minor health scares, accidents and misfortune. For example, in 2000, teachers at an all-girls school in the Saudi Arabian city of Jeddah began having mysterious fits and seizures. Though doctors attributed that incident to mass hysteria (a mild and harmless form of social contagion and psychological suggestion), many believed that jinn haunted the school and were to blame for the attack.

Belief in the fire spirits is also common among elected officials in the Middle East.

What Might be Missing in the Muslim World?

[…]

Islamic obscurantism and opposition to rational thought do not just harm Muslims; they cross all boundaries, geographical and intellectual. The belief that the Qur’an, shari’a law, or prophetic traditions override science and reason — or that shaykhs, imams, mullahs, and other religious authorities in Egypt’s al-Azhar University, or in Saudi Arabia, or in Iran or elsewhere, are superior in their knowledge and wisdom to scientists, university professors or elected politicians, merely because they are experts in Islamic theology and law — all guarantee that Islam will remain fixed in its classical stance that all innovation (bid’a) is heresy and that heresy leads to hellfire. And that affects all of us, deeply.

The police later retracted their initial statement to De Telegraaf saying the numbers did exist although they were unable to release them due to “the importance of current investigations”.

Now after a long tussle the Dutch daily has finally managed to obtain the data.

H.R. 60 Would Allow Illegal Aliens to Serve in the Military

As a military veteran, I understand that having people in the military who may or may not have full allegiance to the country, and only enlisted because it may be a path for them to become an instant citizen, does not improve our military, enhance military preparedness, or improve our readiness as a nation to defend itself against enemies. In fact, it may potentially allow enemies of our great nation to infiltrate with more ease into our military. H.R. 60 is yet another bill designed to use the military as a laboratory for normalizing leftist schemes, which in this case would normalize amnesty for illegal immigration and essentially codify Obama’s unlawful executive amnesty.

The bill would enable illegal immigrants who enter the United States Armed Forces to be pardoned for violating immigration law, give them full military benefits, grant them without any questions lawful permanent resident status in the U.S., and give them a simple little path to take for instant citizenship. If enacted, this policy would provide citizenship within a few months to unlawful immigrant children of every foreign nation, including those countries that promote and fund Islamic terrorism, and including people who may have connections to south-of-the-border gangs or drug cartels.

Not only was the bill introduced by a republican, but of the more than 200 co-sponsors, 100 of them are House Republicans. The intent of the politicians pushing this thing is to add this very bad piece of legislation to The National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which is the United States federal law that specifies the budget and expenditures of the United States Department of Defense, and is already loaded with some very draconian provisions.

H.R. 60 is bad for America, grants back-door amnesty, and does not improve the military — and in reality could be very dangerous for our armed forces. Conservatives need to be loud about this one, and do what they can to influence our legislators to remove their names from the co-sponsor list, or if they are not co-sponsors, to do what they can to stop this deadly bill in its tracks.

[Comment: Another RINO puppet of the globalists. Globalists have been worried that the US military won’t shoot their own citizens when the civil war 2.0 breaks out. Their solution — stuff the military with illegals such as MS13 members who won’t hesitate to shoot Americans.]

‘Help us’ Italy Hits Out at EU and Threatens to Close Ports as Migrant Crisis Continues

Furious officials have threatened to close its ports to aid groups rescuing migrants off Libya’s coast as it struggles to cope with the highest rate of rescues this year.

Italy has taken in more than 410,000 migrants who have arrived since 2014 — with an estimated 12,000 arriving in the last 48 hours alone.

The country has looked for assistance from the rest of the bloc, which Italy claims has “turned its back”.

Italy’s EU representative, Maurizio Massari, warned in a letter to the EU that the situation had become “unsustainable”.

He said: “Italy has reached saturation point.”

EU officials attempted to calm the tension. EU Commissioner Dimítris Avramopoulos said “Italy deserves our support and our understanding.

“When they say that the situation is no longer viable, Italy is right.”

Illegalophilia and Islamophilia

by Daniel Greenfield

When Nabra Hassanen was killed by Darwin Martinez Torres, the media rushed to blame Islamophobia and Trump. The truth was simpler. It was the left’s own Illegalophilia that killed the Muslim teenager.

Torres, an illegal alien from El Salvador, had no interest in Hassanen’s religion. He got into an altercation with her friends. Hassanen happened to be the one he caught when her friends left her behind.

The murder happened in Fairfax County.

Earlier this year, Fairfax County Chief of Police Ed Roessler had assured illegal aliens that they had nothing to worry about. The police were not going to do anything about them until they killed someone.

“We’re not targeting someone on the street that we may or may not know is here unlawfully,” Deputy County Executive David Rohrer soothed.

Last Year Saw Record Migration and Those Migrants Won’t be Leaving

“This calls for a rethinking of both domestic policies and international cooperation.”

The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) say last year a total of five million migrants flowed into industrialised countries — and those countries should be prepared for the migrants to stay.

The organisation said the total number of migrants who came to its list of 35 industrial countries in 2016 was around five million, up from 2015’s figure of 4.7 million. The OECD added they do not expect many — if any — of the migrants to return to their countries of origin in the near future, France24 reports.

“This calls for a rethinking of both domestic policies and international cooperation,” he said.

One in Ten of British Population Are Foreign Citizens, Doubles in 12 Years

Nearly one-tenth of people living in the United Kingdom are foreign citizens, according to new figures from the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).

There were a record 5.95 million foreign citizens living in the United Kingdom in 2016, the latest year for which figures are available, according to the intergovernmental organisation.

Police Use Drones and Dogs to Stop Migrants Crossing Border on Riviera Between Italy and France

Drones and dogs are being used to hunt down migrants trying to slip across the border from Italy into France, as police play a cat and mouse game with asylum seekers desperate to reach northern Europe.

Hundreds of migrants, most of them African, have been stuck in the Italian border town of Ventimiglia for months, their dreams of reaching France, Scandinavia and the UK thwarted by the closure of the French frontier.

In the past few days, many have tried to cross from Italy into France at night, trekking along woodland paths that were once used by smugglers of contraband goods during the Second World War.

Terror Channel Report: Moral Equivalence is a Crock

by John Derbyshire

[…]Moral equivalence is a crock. On the one side, here you have people whose ancestors have lived for centuries in the same country, who resent foreigners coming in by the hundreds of thousands, taking over their towns and demanding that the natives accommodate their customs and religion. On the other side, you have those foreigners.

The two things are not equivalent. With no respect at all to Piers Morgan, the problem here is not some generalized “hate,” equally immoral among both people who are having their country taken away and the people who are taking it. The problem is insane levels of mass Muslim settlement.

Britain never needed Muslims and it was criminally foolish of the Brits to allow Muslim settlement in such numbers.

As we say out here on the Alt Right: That’s what separate countries are for.

German Lawmakers Approve Same-Sex Marriage in Landmark Vote

23rd country to legalize same-sex marriage…

Germany’s parliament backed the legalization of same-sex marriage on Friday in a historic vote hailed by gay activists and leftist parties but criticized by some in Chancellor Angela Merkel’s ruling conservative bloc and by the Catholic Church.

The move brings Germany into line with many other European nations including France, Britain and Spain and follows Merkel’s surprise decision this week to allow her lawmakers to follow their own conscience rather than the party line on the issue. Merkel, daughter of a Protestant pastor, voted against the bill.

Seven Planned Parenthood Abortion Facilities Permanently Close Today

Locations in New Jersey, Iowa, California…

Seven Planned Parenthood facilities, six of which conducted medication abortions, are set to permanently close today in three states.

Planned Parenthood officials noted that the closures were primarily an attempt to remain solvent amid fears that Medicaid reimbursements would be halted by Congress.

“It isn’t very often we see seven Planned Parenthood facilities close in one day. This may have set some kind of record. It is great news for women and their babies who will no longer be preyed upon for profit by Planned Parenthood in these communities,” said Troy Newman, President of Operation Rescue. “Many Planned Parenthood facilities survive only on on government funding. There are so many other reputable providers of legitimate healthcare for women out there. Even if every Planned Parenthood was shut down, no one would have to due without proper medical care. We should not be funding Planned Parenthood with our tax dollars.”

The West: Too Tired to Defend Freedom?

[…]Muslim supremacists slaughter French Jews? Instead of defending them as a post-Holocaust treasure, our liberals scapegoat Israel’s security policies, as did the European Union’s former foreign minister, Catherine Ashton.

Muslims supremacists submit their own women to burqas and niqabs and home-confinement? Instead of protecting equality, our liberals defend the veils as symbols of “cultural diversity”.

Muslim supremacists murder gays in Orlando? Instead of being proud of an open society, defending it from Islamic jihadists, and accepting the freedom to be homosexual as a positive difference between the West and Islam, our liberals make it a case for “Love wins” and “Hate will not divide us”.

A year after the massacre at the Pulse gay nightclub, the mainstream media constructed a new narrative, as if murdering 49 gay people were not the product of ISIS, but of “hate”. That is why the question is repeatedly asked: “Why did this happen?”

Cardinal Pell is Just 1 of Over 8,000 Priests Accused of Pedophilia

How long will the Catholic church cover up for sexual predators

In 2013, the new Pope, Pope Francis, said that about 2% of the priests were pedophiles.

That would have been about 8,000, yet 2 years ago, when David Knight interviewed adults with SNAP (a US-based network of survivors of clerical abuse) who had been childhood victims of pedophile priests, the Pope had done nothing about it even though he was in Philadelphia hypocritically promoting the “World Meeting of Families”.

Today, the 3rd highest ranking Catholic Cardinal George Pell was charged with sex abuse — after being charged with multiple times from multiple complainants.

The Danger of Political Labels

How critical theory and Marx’s ideology have ended discussion and debate

During the same event, Michael Walsh, author of “The Devil’s Pleasure Palace: The Cult of Critical Theory and the Subversion of the West,” explained the concept further. He believes that only by looking at what was behind critical theory can we understand its attacks on freedom of speech, freedom of belief, and our values as a nation.

Walsh said that most people, religious or not, believe there are some absolute truths based on the human condition, and that we have developed a code of morals based on this recognition. “That is now under attack.”

“What the Frankfurt School tried to do through the mechanism of critical theory, was to undermine your belief in reason,” Walsh said. “They erected a devil’s pleasure palace of illusion to give you the sense that what you previously had believed is no longer true and no longer operable.”

Yes, Islamic Terrorism Really is Islamic

by Robert Spencer

It is a symptom of the denial and willful ignorance that blankets the present age that this book even had to be written, and that Ibn Warraq, a historian and social theorist of preeminent insight and wisdom, should have had to devote his considerable talents to it.

Nonetheless, we can be grateful that he has given us The Islam in Islamic Terrorism: The Importance of Beliefs, Ideas, and Ideology, as this book is breathtakingly comprehensive despite its quite manageable length, and is, quite simply, irrefutable. If there remains in the world anyone who holds that Islam is a Religion of Peace and yet has sufficient intellectual honesty and acumen to consider these arguments on their merits, this is the book to give.

  1. I think that running people over with mopeds is a much lesser risk than with cars or trucks. The likelihood of “only” injuring pedestrians, followed by injury/death of the driver is much higher than with larger vehicles.

As a result, the terrorists will still use cars/trucks, but find another place to run people over.

Meaning that in terms of protecting the immediate area from vehicular attacks, that method probably works.

Not that it solves the bigger problem, which isn’t about vehicles.

  2. In the light of some passing “news” elsewhere (likely to be viewed by some that visit here), let me post this as a public service:

Wikipedia has a whole list of search engines, and even Yahoo has a search page:

    https://search.yahoo.com/

  3. I think people need to get their butts out (of you know where) before the west implodes. We have to think about what is right and what is just and how we can achieve that. I would give a lot for a peaceful world, but it don’t look like we will achieve that anytime soon as far as I can see. We will have to kill a lot of muslims to impress on them that they are NOT in charge of the world.

P.S. Robert Spencer is a bona fide expert on Islam so you might want to listen or read him. Otherwise you are walking blindly around your neighorhood without recognizing reality.

  4. P.S.
This is an American website and the language is English. There is no point in posting stuff in a foreign language that very people understand.

    Just a suggestion, of course.

  5. Angela Merkel, the daughter of a Protestant pastor, and daughter of Jewish mother! `
Where will her priorities lie? …/ if she focusses on the future ?

  6. Luxury Home Where Gangland Figure Hamad Assaad Was Brutally Gunned Down Hits the Market for $1.1million — and it Even Has a Swimming Pool

Is there some way that it can be redecorated with bacon, ham, and pork?

  7. Pell? Alex J. should know any Catholic pedophiles are eitehr in jail or dead. That awful period ended by 1995. Now, protestant ministers and Jewish orthodox rabbinical pedophiles are the problem. Why won’t Jones admit this in 2017?

    • FYI: There were 25 new allegations made by minors during the 2015-2016 year against current clergy members of the Catholic Church. But only two were substantiated. That means of the 52,238 priests and deacons, .004 percent had a substantiated charge made against them.

If you know of any other institution in the United States, secular or religious, which has a better record than the Catholic Church today when it comes to the sexual abuse of minors by adult employees, please advise.

  8. One has to wonder just at what point the citizens of Europe will say “enough” and stop electing leaders that are leading us to our own demise. Yes, our leaders will erect truck proof cement blocks where each attack happens, but why should we accept this as life in Europe now? Shouldn’t it have been a massive wake up call for the Swedish when the chief of police was literally asking for help to control these hordes. I believe that in the not too distant future many of the indigenous Europeans will make the very difficult decision not to have any children for fear of what kind of Europe their offspring will inhabit, thus rapidly accelerating the extinction of white people.
