Defense Lawyer’s Pants Catch Fire During Arson Trial
Jurors trying to assess the truthfulness of defense lawyer Stephen Gutierrez’s closing arguments in an arson trial Wednesday may have been dismayed to notice that his pants were literally on fire.
Witnesses say the lawyer had to flee the Miami courtroom with smoke billowing from his pocket, the Miami Herald reports.
When he returned, the lawyer, who’d been seen fiddling in his pocket, blamed a faulty e-cigarette battery.

Soros Gave $246 Million to Groups Behind ‘Day Without a Woman’ Protest
Liberal billionaire George Soros gave more than $246 million to groups that helped organize Wednesday’s “Day Without a Woman” protest, according to a report.
The conservative Media Research Center released a report on Tuesday that claimed Soros, whose net worth is about $25 billionand who donates to numerous liberal causes, gave millions of dollars to organizers behind the protests between 2000 and 2014.

Study: 60% of Online ObamaCare Defenders Are Paid
A data analyst conducted a study of Obamacare posts on Facebook and discovered that 60% of more than 225,000 posts published by 40,000 profiles were actually posted by 100 people. Kenneth Brown also found that most of those posts were published between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM, strongly suggesting that the people who were writing up pro-Obamacare Facebook posts were getting paid for it.

Brussels Accused of Indoctrinating Children With Pro-EU School Lessons
THE EUROPEAN Union (EU) has been accused of indoctrinating Irish school pupils with a pro-Brussels classroom programme.
A Dublin think-tank has launched a furious attack on the bloc, which it claims is carrying out “insidious propaganda” on thousands of the country’s children.
The Blue Star programme, supported by the European Commission representation in Ireland, taught 16,350 children in 190 schools during the 2015/2016 academic year.
Keith Redmond, co-founder of the Hibernia Forum think tank, told Express.co.uk the classes were a blatant attempt by Brussels to create a generation of Europhiles.
He said “Since about the time of the Maastricht Treaty the European Union has been engaged in propaganda, particularly with children. It’s really insidious.

“Former Yugoslavia”? Yugoslavia ceased to exist in 1992. That was 25 years ago. Why is that still a point of reference? Can’t the police be a bit more specific? Is this axe attacker a Catholic from Croatia? Orthodox from Serbia? Or…a Muslim from Bosnia or Kosovo? Why are authorities being so coy, just as they were in the case of the Heidelberg vehicle/knife attack, in which they identified the attacker as a “German national” without releasing his name or addressing the question of his religion?

Italian Intelligence Agency Alerts the Country to Higher Risks of Islamic Terrorism
The risk of fundamentalists who want to “conduct the jihad directly on Italian territory” is becoming “increasingly acute,” according to the 2016 annual report by the Department of Intelligence and Security (DIS) presented a few days ago in Rome.
The report shows a threat to national security that’s become harder to pinpoint, more complex, ambiguous and insidious. It highlights the “proven ability” of jihad affiliates to “circulate freely in the Schengen Area for months without being identified.” Italy has so far escaped from being targeted by the sort of terrorist attacks experienced in other European countries.

Italy: Lactalis Raises Parmalat Buyout Offer to 3 Euros
Sign-up period extended until March 21
(ANSA) — Milan, March 8 — French group Lactalis’s investment arm Sofil said Thursday that it was raising the offer price for its buyout of Italian food and diary company Parmalat to 3.00 euros per share from 2.80 euros. It also announced that it was extending the period to sign up for the offer until March 21. Kepler Chevreux analysts advised shareholders, some of whom had complained that the previous price was too low, to accept the new offer.
Lactalis gained control of Parmalat in 2011 and now wants to buy out the company completely.
Parmalat’s share price rose 5.6% in early trading on Thursday.

Muslims Call for Marriage to Christian Women to ‘Strengthen’ Islam in Spain
Hundreds of posters displayed in a migrant-dominated part of Barcelona are urging Muslim men to marry Spanish women in a bid to spread Islam, and inviting members of the community to an “information meeting”.
The posters, which are derogatory about Christians but call on ‘Brothers’ to marry women of the religion to “strengthen” Islam, have been plastered through the neighbourhood of El Raval. Official data collected in 2014 found that 56.7 per cent of residents in El Raval were born abroad.

New Insight Into Secret Lives of Neanderthals
Neanderthals dosed themselves with painkillers and possibly penicillin, according to a study of their teeth.
One sick Neanderthal chewed the bark of the poplar tree, which contains a chemical related to aspirin.
He may also have been using penicillin, long before antibiotics were developed.
The evidence comes from ancient DNA found in the dental tartar of Neanderthals living about 40,000 years ago in central Europe.

Two Killed in Shooting at Basel Cafe, One Badly Injured: Swiss Police
Two men shot dead two people and seriously injured a third on Thursday at a cafe in Basel, north-west Switzerland, police said as they hunt for the suspects.
“Two men came into Cafe 56” around 8.15 pm local time (1915 GMT) “and fired several rounds of shots,” police said in a statement, without providing information on a possible motive.
Shootings are rare in Switzerland, but men who have done military service are allowed to keep their weapons at home.

DNA Provides Window Into Early Aboriginal History
Scientists have used hair to locate where distinct Aboriginal groups lived in Australia up to 50,000 years ago.
The genetic study could help reconnect indigenous families with ancestral communities, according to the University of Adelaide-led study.
It shows the first Australians spread rapidly before largely spending continuous time in distinct areas.
The research is an important step in learning more about ancestry prior to European settlement, the authors said.
It again confirmed that Aboriginal Australians descended from a single population that arrived 50,000 years ago from New Guinea, when it was joined to Australia.

Hungary Swears in ‘Border Hunter Guards’ Who Can Do Judo and Assemble Guns Blindfolded
HUNGARY is building up an army of up to 3,000 border guards trained in judo and firearms to keep out migrants.
The new ‘border hunter’ force have undertaken a six month crash course to help police and army units protect Hungary’s borders.
Recruits have learned how to assemble guns blindfolded, how to handcuff people and judo as part of their training.
The border guards, who must be between 18 and 55 years old, are given training similar to police and learn other skills such as guarding a border fence, detaining large groups of migrants and tracking their paths.

Migrant Smuggling in Europe ‘Comparable to Drug Markets’ In Scale and Profitability
MIGRANT smuggling has expanded so dramatically in Europe that it is now comparable to the illegal drugs market, a major new report warns.
Criminal gangs are said to have raked in huge sums of money amid the surge in numbers attempting to reach the continent.
A report from Europol, the EU’s law enforcement agency, describes migrant smuggling as a “highly profitable and widespread criminal activity”.
The 60-page study said: “The migrant smuggling business is now a large, profitable and sophisticated criminal market, comparable to the European drug markets.”

Survey: Growing Fears About Crime and Violence in Sweden
One out of every five Swedes sees violence and crime as the most worrying issue facing society today, according to a survey from the polling company Sifo.
Violence and crime eclipsed the environment, schools, healthcare, and even immigration as the issue causing the most stress among respondents.
A majority of respondents (54 percent) said their level of concern about developments in Sweden has increased over the past year, with 61 percent of women reporting increased anxiety compared to 46 percent of men.
The poll underlines how public opinion has been affected by a string of shootings in the major cities of Stockholm, Gothenburg, and Malmö recently.

Two-Thirds of Female Refugees in Northern France Have Been ‘Raped, Beaten, Or Pimped Out’
AROUND 70 per cent of female refugees in northern France have been the victims of rape, domestic violence or sexual abuse, the French charity Gynaecology Without Borders (GSF) reports.
The horror statistics were revealed yesterday by the group which used to operate at the now-demolished Jungle camp in Calais.
It said many women suffered daily attacks.

I’ve read the report and what it fails to say is that although corruption was more or less common in Brazil a couple of decades ago, the level of corruption was much lower. What changed that? 13 years of a mafia-like leftist(Lula’s) government institutionalized theft and involved virtually all politicians and large companies that had contracts with the government. In addition, banks and large corporations never profited so much. So this combination of plain theft and buying of savage capitalist elites plus the giving of leftovers to the poor made possible that a government of leftist thieves kept robbing the people blind for unbelievable 13 years. Once the population woke up it was too late. The German Upper House (Bundesrat) has decided that the Maghreb states are not to be considered safe states. So asylum-seekers cannot be sent back immediately. One reason: those states have homophobic laws.
So their twisted thinking goes like this:
We must let in a million people from an anti-semitic religion and culture, because the holocaust teaches us that one mustn’t criticize other religions and cultures.

I’ve just visited a German gay site to check the comments, and there is plenty of criticism of this decision. Ie, why are homophobic, sometimes violent people allowed into Germany under the excuse of helping gays and lesbians?
I am sure the feminists have sorted this out already.
