In Chicago, a young mentally-challenged white man was held hostage and tortured by four African-Americans while the incident was live-streamed on Facebook. His tormentors allegedly cut and kicked the captive, whose mouth was taped shut, while shouting expletive-laden insults against Donald Trump and white people. Police were alerted, and arrested the four suspects who kidnapped the man. Their victim is recovering from his wounds in the hospital.
In other news, the Belgian government has announced that it intends to check passengers coming into the country on trains and buses, thereby violating the Schengen rules.

But the pain is not just short term, the pain of millions of honest Indians who contribute to a truthful economy, wasting days on end, sacrificing their work, their livelihoods, their means of living, to standing at ATMs and juggling denominations and news reports. In rural India daily mile-long walks to banks have become commonplace, whereas rural communities would interact with the “financial world” a handful of times annually.
In Venezuela — where the exact same circus has come to town — there have been riots. On the contrary, in India, we have stood patiently in lines, in the misguided hope that the fabric of the Indian economy will be cleansed of the black money. The economy has been laundered, and the stains have spread.
To assess the long-term gain, we need to ask basic questions: Who will benefit from this so-called long-term gain?
Ten of the richest billionaires have made money riding on patents and monopolies over the tools of information and network technology. In effect, they are rent collectors of the digital economy, who have collected very large rents, at very high frequency, in a very short time.

We’re living in the calm before the storm.

With the force of the economic avalanche that is poised to fall upon us all, the policies and actions of President Trump will do little to stem the tide of what is already coming; for better or worse, there is little that Trump himself can do even though it may fall squarely on his administration.

Accused ISIS Sympathizer From Suffolk Indicted
NORFOLK, Virginia. — A man accused of trying to help ISIS was in federal court on Wednesday afternoon.
He was denied bond and also has now been indicted by a grand jury.
A defense attorney argued Williams had made no specific plan, but prosecutors say he had talked about trying to carry out a martyrdom in the area. A judge denied him bond.

These hidden agendas are not random or coincidence: they are driving factors, not resulting factors in the shaping of our country and the world. Two excellent works that illustrate these principles are the books Confessions of an Economic Hitman and The Shock Doctrine: Fundamentals of Disaster Capitalism. Both works have numerous examples that illustrate the true reasons the United States government (an empire in the truest sense) has fostered the current world climate in its rapacious and unending quest for power and promulgation of the system.
The book The Ignorant Armies chronicles the fact that the United States under Woodrow Wilson sent American Soldiers to fight against the Bolsheviks during the Russian Revolution. The American North Russia Expeditionary Force (ANREF) was a contingent of 5,000 soldiers of the US Army that fought the Red Army in the area of Arkhangelsk, Russia from September of 1918 to July of 1919. This action set the Soviet Union and the US at odds for generations; however, most of the history books conveniently leave (and over the decades, left) it out.
Confessions of an Economic Hitman chronicles how the US sends operatives to destabilize a country through loans that are impossible to repay that enable the US to ensnare the foreign country with debt and use that financial obligation as leverage to obtain political, military, or economic favors or concessions. The book stresses that the system of education in the United States grooms its citizens to maintain the rigid social system that is in place with politicians, banks, and multinational corporations that seek a power and dominion that is best termed as “imperial” in nature.
Therefore, it is important that we question the true motives for operation, especially in this time of transition between Obama and Trump. Look at what Obama did to destabilize Libya, Egypt, and Ukraine: The IMF and World Bank were (and still are) right on the heels of the U.S. State Department and NATO, ready to financially ensnare more serfs in their quest for global hegemony. Some have commented that my articles are against Trump, and I must state that they are not. My desire is for him to succeed and be a president that will place us on the path to a Constitutional Republic. I also state that Trump is far better than Hillary Clinton, and his election gives us a chance to take that path.

Brutal DDoS Attack is the Beginning of a Bleak Future
DDoS attacks, at the most basic level, work like this. An attacker sends a flurry of packets, essentially just garbage data, to an intended recipient. In this case, the recipient was Dyn’s DNS servers. The server is overwhelmed with the garbage packets, and can’t handle the incoming connections, eventually slowing down significantly or totally shutting down. In the case of Dyn, it was probably a little more complex than this. Dyn almost certainly has advanced systems for DDoS mitigation, and the people who attacked Dyn (whoever they are) were probably using something more advanced than a PC in their mom’s basement.
Recently, we’ve entered into a new DDoS paradigm. As security blogger Brian Krebs notes, the newfound ability to highjack insecure internet of things devices and turn them into a massive DDoS army has contributed to an uptick in the size and scale of recent DDoS attacks. (We’re not sure if an IoT botnet was what took down Dyn this morning, but it would be a pretty good guess.)
We are nevertheless getting a taste of what the new era of DDoS attacks look like, however. As security expert Bruce Schneier explained in a blog post:

Chicago Police: 4 in Custody After Man Tied Up, Tortured on Facebook Live
FOX 32 NEWS- Investigators are looking into a Facebook Live video shot on the West Side that shows a group of people holding a young man hostage.
Chicago police told FOX 32 that four people are currently in custody.
Chicago police were made aware of this video Tuesday afternoon. A young African American woman streamed the video live on Facebook showing at least four people holding a young white man hostage.
The victim is repeatedly kicked and hit, his scalp is cut, all while he is tied up with his mouth taped shut. The suspects on the video can be heard yelling, “F*** Donald Trump! F*** white people!”
Community activist Andrew Holmes was made aware of the disturbing video, which he is calling a “hate crime.”
FOX 32 was told the young man is now at a hospital being treated for his injuries.
No charges have yet been filed.

Ford to Scrap Mexico Plant, Invest in Michigan; CEO Cites Trump Policies
Before he’s even taken office, President-elect Donald Trump has proven to be quite the job creator.
Ford Motor Company announced Tuesday it will cancel a $1.6 billion plant planned for Mexico and will instead invest $700 million in a Michigan assembly plant, directly tying the decision to “pro-growth policies” championed by President-elect Donald Trump.
Trump had previously been critical of Ford’s plans to build in Mexico. After the announcement, Trump tweeted a link to a story about the Ford decision and then added in a subsequent message: “Instead of driving jobs and wealth away, AMERICA will become the world’s great magnet for INNOVATION & JOB CREATION.”
“We’re doing this decision based on what’s right for our business,” Ford CEO Mark Fields told Neil Cavuto on Fox Business Network. “As we think about the investments here in Michigan, as you can imagine, Neil, we look at a lot of factors as we make those. One of the factors that we’re looking at is a more positive U.S. manufacturing business environment under President-elect Trump and some of the pro-growth policies he said he’s going to pursue. And so this is a vote of confidence.”
Fields said Ford would have gone ahead with the decision whether or not Trump was elected president, however, he did say that he alerted both Trump and Vice President-elect Mike Pence ahead of the announcement on Tuesday.

LA Playground Ban Brands Single Adults as Pedophiles
Council member Mitch O’Farrell proposed that adults who are not accompanying children should be banned from the perimeter of playgrounds in the parks and ticketed for violating the regulation. The Democrat said he is putting forward the motion following complaints from his constituents about drug dealing in the city parks. The council is due to debate the proposal in coming weeks.
The proposal is based on a similar law in New York which led to an uproar in 2011 after two women were ticketed for eating donuts on a park bench near a playground. According to the NRPA: “Enforcement of the exclusive playground rule has generated some adverse media publicity for the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation (NYC Parks). In one instance, seven men were cited for playing chess in a playground park. In another, a woman was ticketed for eating a doughnut in a park playground.”

Police: Weapons: Ammunition Discovered Along C&O Canal
WASHINGTON — The discovery of a violin case containing two guns led police to uncover a cache of even more guns and ammunition along the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal near the Boathouse at Fletcher’s Cove in Northwest D.C.
U.S. Park Police and D.C. police Wednesday afternoon investigated the two areas where the weapons were found. Traffic on Canal Road near the boathouse had been stopped during the investigation but the road has reopened.
A woman walking along the canal late Wednesday morning saw some debris surrounding a violin case along the stone wall that lines the road, according to park police. When she opened the case, she found two guns inside, and she brought it to authorities near Fletcher’s boathouse.
About a quarter-mile north of that location, investigators found a second site with multiple weapons and ammunition surrounded by trash and other debris.
Park Police spokeswoman Sgt. Anna Rose said there were a variety of weapons recovered, including long guns and pistols. The weapons were in buckets and bags, Rose said, although she said she didn’t believe any of them were loaded.
“There’s no indication as to why these weapons were here, when they came to be here or the circumstances surrounding it — that part’s all under investigation,” Rose said.

Trump, Pence Support Assange’s Remarks on Alleged Russian Hacking
President-elect Donald Trump has publicly supported the assertions made by WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange on the Sean Hannity Fox News TV show this week, in which Assange flatly denied that he received the hacked material from the Russians.
“I know a lot about hacking. And hacking is a very hard thing to prove,” Trump said, adding that instead of the Russians, it “could be somebody else.”
Assange told Hannity that a 14-year-old could have hacked the personal e-mail account of John Podesta — chairman of Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign — and turned over to WikiLeaks damaging e-mails that involved the Democratic National Committee (DNC).

Whistleblower Clinton Foundation CEO Missing, Presumed Dead
Clinton Foundation CEO presumed dead after exposing corruption within the Clinton organisation
Fears are growing over the whereabouts of Clinton Foundation CEO Eric Braverman after he went missing in October following accusations that he leaked the Podesta emails to WikiLeaks.
Some fear that Braverman may have been killed, since an email mentioning his name was released by WikiLeaks in which Clinton Campaign chair John Podesta accused the CEO of leaking details about corruption in the organisation to the press.
Stream.org reports:
In the March 2015 email exchange, Center for American Progress President Neera Tanden told Clinton campaign manager and confidant John Podesta there was a mole within the Clinton Foundation. Podesta in his reply told Tanden the mole was Braverman.
Braverman had abruptly resigned from the Clinton Foundation shortly before this email exchange took place. And then, after the email exchange was made public by Wikileaks, Braverman vanished from the public eye.
This seems like a story that someone might want to report.

Austria Investigates Series of New Year’s Sexual Assaults in Innsbruck
Police in the Austrian city of Innsbruck are trying to identify a group of foreign men believed to have sexually assaulted 18 women during New Year’s Eve celebrations, a spokesman said on Wednesday.
The women have reported that unidentified assailants had groped and tried to kiss them that evening as they stood in or near a crowded central square for a concert and fireworks display. Most described a group of five or six men, the police spokesman said.

UK: Green Subsidy Scandal Will Cost Taxpayers $1.4 Billion
This isn’t the first time the British government wasted millions of dollars on global warming projects
A botched green energy subsidy scheme will cost U.K. taxpayers more than $1.4 billion, or more than 45 times its initial cost projections, according to a whistleblower.
The Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) was initially projected to cost $30 million by requiring farmers and businesses in Northern Ireland to use green power.
But a whistleblower claims they were able to manipulate the program to receive about $200 dollars in subsidies for every $120 they spent on green fuel, according to The Times.
Once it became obvious people could make money off the program, there was a massive influx of new applications that increased the program’s costs. The program has only been in place since 2012, and has benefited roughly 2,000 people.

World’s First Solar Road Opens in France: It’s Ridiculously Expensive
The world’s first solar highway has been opened in France, in the not-very-sunny village of Tourouvre au Perche in Normandy. The roadway is just one kilometre (0.6mi) long, but that still works out at 2,800 square metres of photovoltaic cells-enough, hopefully, to power the village’s street lights.
The road was built by Colas, a large Anglo-French construction company. Colas has apparently been working on its own solar road tech, called Wattway, for at least five years. Wattway has been tested in car parks, but this is the first time it has been used on an active road. There will now be a two-year test period, to see if Wattway can withstand the rigour of being pounded by thousands of cars and trucks per day, and whether it can actually provide a useful amount of electricity.

Fourteen Detained Over Istanbul Nightclub Massacre
Gov’t prepares to extend “state of emergency”
Fourteen suspects are now in custody over a massacre that targeted a popular night club in Istanbul on the New Year’s eve, killing 39 people and wounding scores of others.
Turkey’s state-run news agency Anadolu said that an ongoing series of tips or sightings from citizens led to half a dozen more detentions on Tuesday as the main suspect, who allegedly carried out the attack, remains at large.
The suspects continue to be questioned at Istanbul’s main police headquarters, media said, adding that security experts say the killer was an experienced assassin. Turkish police have released a photo of him.
The release of the image on Monday came as Deputy Prime Minister Numan Kurtulmus said that the country’s state of emergency — which was already in place at the time of the attack — would be extended for as long as needed.

Muslims Storm Filipino Jail and 150 Inmates Escape
A prison guard has been killed during a two-hour firefight after Muslim rebels stormed a Filipino jail in a pre-dawn raid in which 150 inmates escaped.
The attack added to a long history of daring jailbreaks in the country’s south, home to a decades-old Muslim separatist insurgency as well as extremist gangs that have recently declared allegiance to ISIS.
A two-hour long firefight broke out when more than 100 armed men believed to have been led by a local rebel commander attacked the jail in Kidapawan city at about 1am.

Indonesia Suspends Military Cooperation With Australia
Indonesia has suspended all military cooperation with Australia, reportedly over offensive materials displayed at an Australian military base where its troops were training.
The offensive “laminated material” shown at a base was insulting towards Indonesia’s five founding principles — Pancasila — Indonesian newspaper Kompas has reported. The Kompas report says a cable dated 29 December, sent by Indonesian military commander General Gatot Nurmantyo, instructed that all military cooperation, including training with the Australian defence force, be suspended.
The Indonesian military spokesman, Major General Wuryanto has confirmed the split, but would not specifically confirm the reason, saying cooperation between the Australian and Indonesian militaries had been suspended for “technical reasons”, effective immediately. “All forms of cooperation have been suspended,” he said.

The number of refugees diagnosed with TB in the United States has increased every year since 2012, the first year the CDC began publishing data on foreign-born cases of the disease by category, when 358 were diagnosed. On Monday December 19, another Muslim murderer ran amok: twenty-three-year-old Tunisian immigrant Anis Amri hijacked a big rig and drove it into a crowd of Christmas shopper s in Berlin, Germany, killing twelve and injuring fifty.
Three and a half days later, in the small hours of Friday morning, Amri was spotted by two cops in Milan, Italy. They accosted him; he shot and wounded one of the cops; the other cop then shot him dead.
Amri’s immigration history is a case study of Western stupidity and incompetence. He was one of the early boat people leaving North Africa for the Italian island of Lampedusa in 2011. While there he was arrested for robbery, and arson-he helped set fire to a holding center for illegals.
The Italians put him in jail for four years. In Italian prisons, as in British and French prisons, radical Muslims are a major organizing force among the prisoners, so Amri got radicalized.

An acquaintance of suspected Berlin Christmas market attacker Anis Amri who dined with him the night before the rampage is under investigation for possible participation in planning the attack, German prosecutors said Wednesday. He was arrested, but in a separate case.

‘Refugee’ Named Mohamed Sexually Assaults Disabled U.S. Woman, Media Silent

A refugee newly arrived from Somalia has been tried and convicted for attempting to sexually assault a special-needs woman while she was sitting outside of a home for the disabled in Aberdeen, South Dakota.
Liban Mohamed, 39, was in the United States for only about a week when he tried to force himself on a 31-year-old woman with severe disabilities. He is not a U.S. citizen, but whether he will be deported in the wake of his conviction remains unclear.
The trial for Mohamed was held just a few days before Christmas and not a word of the conviction has made it into the local media, residents of Aberdeen told WND on Tuesday.
Mohamed speaks no English and required two interpreters at trial, according to the state’s attorney who prosecuted the case…
The newspaper’s court reporter, Elisa Sand, did not attend the trial, WND was told by officials who were present on Dec. 20.
Nor has the case received any coverage from local TV stations in South Dakota or neighboring Minnesota.

Vermont Residents Don’t Want to ‘Foot the Bill’ For Syrian Refugees
Some small-town residents of Rutland, Vt., are upset at their mayor’s decision to resettle 100 Syrian refugees throughout 2017 in the area.
Rutland Mayor Christopher Louras defended his decision, saying the town’s demographics are declining, and they are having trouble recruiting younger workers. He also thinks refugees will bring cultural diversity.

Gotcha! Email Scammers Finally Get Theirs
Raids on email and telephone scam centers in Spain, the Philippines and around the globe have resulted in 1,500 arrests for ploys that obtained private and personal information from consumers, which criminals then used to steal millions of dollars, reports Joseph Farah’s G2 Bulletin.
An international coalition of law-enforcement agencies said one of the scams was to have suspects pose as law-enforcement officers. They told the victims — – mostly in China — that their bank accounts had been targeted by criminals and they should transfer a sum of money into another designated account to track the offenders.
However, the new account actually belonged to the criminals, who made off with the money. According to a report from INTERPOL, there were several other scams, operated both by email and by telephone.
