Gates of Vienna News Feed 1/31/2017

President Donald Trump announced his appointment today to fill the vacancy on the Supreme Court, a federal judge named Neil Gorsuch. Mr. Gorsuch, the son of the late Anne Gorsuch, who served as EPA director under President Reagan, is considered a strict constructionist concerning the Constitution. Congressional Democrats are expected to mount a bitter resistance to keep Mr. Gorsuch from being confirmed.

In preparing tonight’s news feed, I learned that the vice president of Venezuela is a man of Druze-Lebanese background named Tareck El Aissami. I never knew that before.

‘Fake Tears’: Trump Mocks Chuck Schumer’s Crying

“I noticed Chuck Schumer yesterday with fake tears,” Trump said. “I’m gonna ask him who is his acting coach. Cause I know him very well. I don’t see him as a crier. If he is, he’s a different man. There’s about a five percent chance that it was real, but I think they were fake tears.”

At a Sunday press conference, the New York senator surrounded himself with children and delivered a watery-eyed testimony calling the travel ban “mean-spirited,” and “un-American.”

Google Attempts Stealth Coup of Trump White House

WH advisor cautions: “Google head Schmidt, a top Hillary advisor, cozies up to Trump”

NEW YORK — Eric Schmidt, the founder of the multinational conglomerate Alphabet Inc., the parent company of Google, is making a run to become a Trump insider, intending hopefully to reverse the political damage done by the strong support he and Google gave to the Obama administration for eight years and to Hillary Clinton in her 2016 presidential campaign.

On Dec. 14, 2016, Schmidt was included in a group of prominent tech industry executives that met with then President-elect Donald Trump in a much-publicized meeting.

Then on Jan. 17, 2017, Politico reported that Schmidt was sited at an unannounced visit to Trump Tower, where he lunched privately with Jared Kushner, Trump’s real estate magnate son-in-law married to Trump’s daughter Ivanka in 2009, who has emerged to be named a Senior Advisor to his father-in-law in the White House…

Stone emphasized those in key positions in the Trump administration must be on the alert to a “Google charm offensive” launched by Schmidt to cozy up to Trump in an effort to re-establish with Trump some of the influence Google enjoyed with the Democrats…

That Google has already made inroads into the Trump camp was clear to the Campaign for Accountability in that Joshua Wright, who co-wrote a Google-funded paper while on the faculty of George Mason University and works at Google’s main antitrust law firm, has been advising the Trump transition team on competition issues, while Alex Pollock, of the Google-funded R Street Institute, has also been named to oversee the transition at the FTC.

At the same time, it is not clear the Trump administration fully appreciates the extent to which Eric Schmidt and Google top executives have supported and advanced Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton’s far-left policy agenda. Leaked emails released by Wikileaks revealed that John Podesta, Hillary’s 2016 campaign chairman, had warned Neera Tanden, the President of the Center for American Progress, “I hope Hillary truly understands how batshit crazy David Brock is.”

Radical Democratic Party political operative David Brock is the chief architect behind promoting the leftist “Fake News” campaign. Brock’s advice was key to promoting Google to take steps to prohibit some 340 “fake news” sites in November and December alone from using Google ads for monetization.

LAPD Officers Fatally Shoot Man After Stabbing Rampage Near CNN Hollywood

Los Angeles police work the scene of an officer-involved shooting and multiple stabbings at the Jack in the Box at Sunset Boulevard and Ivar Avenue in Hollywood on Tuesday, Jan. 31 2017.Photo by Hans Gutknecht, Los Angeles Daily News/SCNG

Los Angeles police officers fatally shot a man inside a Hollywood fast food restaurant after he allegedly stabbed multiple people, Los Angeles Police Department officials said Tuesday.

The shooting was reported about 2 p.m. at the corner of Ivar Avenue and Sunset Boulevard, said LAPD Officer Aareon Jefferson.

CNN reporter Maeve Reston, who works out of the network’s building on Sunset, witnessed some of the chaos, reporting on Twitter that she saw a male suspect trying to stab people.

“Unclear how many stabbing victims there are, but suspect ran down Sunset Blvd. trying to stab people outside our CNN office in Hollywood,” Reston tweeted at 2:19 p.m.

The suspect reportedly entered the Jack in the Box restaurant on the corner and started stabbing people inside, according to LAPD Officer Sal Ramirez…

Leader of Portland Anti-Trump Protests Charged With Sexually Abusing Minor

One of the leaders of disorderly anti-Trump protests in Portland, Oregon is facing sexual abuse charges after a police investigation into his relationship with a teenage boy, local news outlets are reporting.

Micah Rhodes, who was expected in court Monday, is a leader of the protest group Portland’s Resistance. The 23-year-old Rhodes is already a registered sex offender, according to KOIN, and was previously arrested for disorderly conduct in connection with anti-Trump protests after the election.

Rhodes was first taken into custody at an anti-Trump protest on January 25.

N. Dakota Wants Paid Pipeline Protesters to Pay State Income Taxes

After spending more than $22 million on the Dakota Access pipeline protest, North Dakota wants to make sure any paid activists remember to submit their state income taxes.

Tax Commissioner Ryan Rauschenberger said his office is keeping an eye out for tax forms from environmental groups that may have hired protesters to agitate against the 1,172-mile, four-state pipeline project.

“It’s something we’re looking at. I can tell you I’ve had a number of conversations with legislators regarding this very issue,” said Mr. Rauschenberger. “[We’re] looking at the entities that have potential paid contractors here on their behalf doing work.”

It’s no secret that millions have been funneled into the six-month-old demonstration via crowdfunding websites, and that more than 30 environmental organizations, including the Sierra Club, Indigenous Environmental Network, Food and Water Watch, 350.org and Greenpeace, have backed the protest.

If national environmental organizations are paying protest personnel, they’re not saying so publicly. Still, Mr. Rauschenberger said red flags will be raised if he doesn’t start seeing W2 or 1099 tax forms from those affiliated with the protest arriving at his office.

[NOTE:This could be the start of monitoring “protestors” and their real work]

Report: Trump Halted $181 Billion in Regulatory Costs on First Day in Office

In one of his first acts as president, Donald Trump effectively halted nearly $200 billion worth of regulations, according to a new analysis.

President Trump has taken aggressive action to curb regulations in his first week, promising to cut 75 percent or “maybe more,” and signing an executive order Monday to cut two regulations from the books when every new rule is introduced.

The Federalist Society, Friend or Foe

From their own website, “The Society is about ideas. We do not lobby for legislation, take policy positions, or sponsor or endorse nominees and candidates for public service. While overall the Society believes in limited government, its members are diverse and often hold conflicting views on a broad range of issues such as tort reform, privacy rights, and criminal justice.”

As I mentioned in my previous article, the Federalist Society began at Yale Law School, (home of Skull and Bones), Harvard Law School (that bastion of higher liberal learning), and the University of Chicago Law School, (home of Bill Ayers and where protestors disallowed Trump rally). It originally started as a student organization which challenged what its members perceived as the orthodox American liberal ideology found in most law schools. These three Ivy league schools are known as having a Marxist agenda.

The Society’s notable membership has included Supreme Court justices Antonin Scalia, Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito. Justice Scalia actually served as the original faculty advisor to the organization. Other members include Pro-Constitutional Convention Professor Randy Barnett of Georgetown University; Former Energy Secretary, David Schizer who clerked for Ruth Bader Ginsberg; and Alex Kozinski, former Chief Judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

The Society was also started by a group of prominent so-called conservatives, including former Attorney General Edwin Meese; Solicitor General and Reagan Supreme Court nominee, Robert Bork; former Indiana Congressman, David McIntosh, now head of pro-amnesty and anti-Trump Club of Growth; Lee Liberman Otis; Energy Secretary Spencer Abraham and Steven Calabresi.

Let’s take a look at just a few of them.

The Stepford Americans

Just today one of my leftist/liberal Facebook friends posted yet another comment calling Donald Trump a really nasty name. It was so disappointing because I thought he was beyond that. But the people now attacking our 45th president are coming out of the woodwork — AND BEHAVING IN WAYS THAT COMPLETELY DEFY REASON. Right now we are in the makings of what some have called a second Civil War. But, for certain, A FIGHT IS BREWING. Why is that?

During the eight years conservatives put up with Barack Obama his fans got really upset whenever any of his critics simply pointed out facts of stuff he had said, been or done. But no conservative, during either term, ever set himself on fire because of Barack taking the Oval Office. Conservative people aren’t big on name-calling either. That’s part of why we are conservative. If you really want to dent a conservative, simply legitimately win an argument with him. We yield to fair and factual debate. If you have a high school education or even just what’s left of a functional brain, you should know that when you start calling people names your argument has run out of gas. The expressed complaints of these 2016 losers are logically bankrupt.

Gush of pure and unvarnished HATRED is only beginning to ooze

But we are less than two weeks into President Trump’s first term, and the gush of pure and unvarnished HATRED is only beginning to ooze. The unobservant of either political bent are dismissing all the current protest and rancor as the standard expressions of dissatisfaction shown by either side after their horse loses. But what we are seeing now is not at all the typical hostility of sore losers. What is going on right now is just downright weird-into-evil. And the shots currently being fired at Trump — both the hateful insults as well as the death threats — are unprecedented in the history of our nation.

Trump Hammers Dems for Delaying AG Confirmation

(FOX NEWS) Hours after he sacked the acting attorney general for refusing to defend his immigration order, President Trump took to Twitter to hammer Senate Democrats for slow-walking the confirmation process of his nominee to head the Justice Department.

The Senate Judiciary Committee was set to meet Tuesday morning regarding Sen. Jeff Sessions’ nomination to be attorney general. But Sessions’ initial hearing was all the way back on Jan. 10, and only a handful of Trump’s Cabinet picks have been voted on, a dozen days into his presidency.

“When will the Democrats give us our Attorney General and rest of Cabinet! They should be ashamed of themselves! No wonder D.C. doesn’t work!” Trump tweeted Tuesday morning.

Trump Fires Insubordinate Interim Attorney General

Acting AG Yates refused to enforce refugee order

President Donald Trump dismissed acting Attorney General Sally Yates on Monday night, after she ordered government lawyers not to defend his executive order on refugees.

In a brazen act of defiance that cost her the post, Yates said she could not enforce a policy that is not “wise or just.” Yates is an Obama-appointee who was serving as acting AG pending the confirmation of Sen. Jeff Sessions.

“The acting Attorney General, Sally Yates, has betrayed the Department of Justice by refusing to enforce a legal order designed to protect the citizens of the United States,” White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer’s office said in a statement. “This order was approved as to form and legality by the Department of Justice Office of Legal Counsel.”

“It is time to get serious about protecting our country. Calling for tougher vetting for individuals traveling from seven dangerous places is not extreme. It is reasonable and necessary to protect our country,” the statement added.

Trump Nominates Judge Gorsuch to Supreme Court

President Trump nominated federal Judge Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court on Tuesday, choosing a jurist widely seen by conservatives as a fitting successor to the late Antonin Scalia — and touching off what is sure to be a fierce confirmation battle with Senate Democrats already vowing resistance.

Touting his nominee’s credentials and legal mind, the president said he was living up to his own vow during the campaign to nominate someone who respects the law and “loves” the Constitution.

“Judge Gorsuch has outstanding legal skills, a brilliant mind, tremendous discipline and has earned bipartisan support,” Trump said, noting he was confirmed unanimously to his current judicial post.

On his first day in office, President Trump instructed Chief of Staff, Reince Priebus, to send a memo to all executive agencies imposing a regulatory moratorium that effectively froze all pending rules and regulations proposed by the Obama administration on their way out of Washington D.C. Now, accorded to a new study from the American Action Forum, that simple one-page memo from Priebus potentially saved Americans $180 billion.

Waning Intelligence as the Leftist Mean Kiddies Still Fight to Control the USA

The Democrat Party and RINOs are placing all of us in jeopardy due to their lack of intelligence…or lack of any care for humanity other than themselves. No…not security, top-secret or cyber intelligence. It’s simply basic human intelligence to which I’m referring. Over the last eight years, it seems to have completely vanished off the face of the Earth. Since the election of US President Donald J. Trump in November, the Left in our country appear to be suffering from some malady that has sapped what had still remained of their fragile intellects. In fact, these folks began blaming P.E. Trump for all manner of committed horrors before he had even taken office. The horrors had actually been effected by their leftist icon Obama.

What the Politicians You Elected Have Done to America

In this series we need to look at what our politicians have done to us concerning the food we eat. Our FDA has allowed Genetically Modified Organisms, GMO, to be introduced into our food supply. These foods are genetically engineered to resist Roundup(r) weed killer. The theory is this crop will survive being sprayed with Roundup(r) for better weed control of products. What I believe is these companies that produce GMO products do so so that they will control the world’s food supply. They say it is to produce more food to feed the world. A few facts from the 1970’s proves that GMO’s are not necessary. In the 1970’s the United States had 6% of the farmable land in the world. Russia had 30%. Russia couldn’t feed themselves and we feed the world.

In independent studies GMO foods are not shown to be safe for human or animal consumption. Monsanto’s study says they are. The government seems to only pay attention to Monsanto’s study. Many nations refuse to accept America’s GMO products and some won’t allow GMO’s to be grown in their countries. Well over 90% of corn grown in America is GMO. Around 92% of the soy grown in America is GMO. Tomatoes, potatoes, apples and other products grown in America are GMO. The FDA has just approved GMO salmon raised on GMO feed to be sold.

Consumers have been fighting to at least get GMO products labeled for years but the lobbyists for the GMO producers dump millions of dollars into the coffers of politicians to stop the bill. The worst part of this is the House passed a bill that bans States from requiring the labeling of GMO products EVEN if the State already had a law that required it. This is called the DARK Act: Legislation dubbed the Deny Americans the Right to Know, or DARK Act (H.R. 1599), passed the House of Representatives yesterday by a vote of 275-150. The bill preempts state and local authority to label and regulate genetically engineered (GE) foods. A Senate version of this bill has not yet been introduced.

The bill, backed largely by House Republicans, codifies a voluntary labeling system approach, blocks the U.S. Food and Drug Administration from ever implementing mandatory GE food labeling and allows food companies to continue to make misleading “natural” claims for foods that contain GE ingredients…

The dangers of GMO products are being ignored for the sake of corporate profits. “Most studies with GM foods indicate that they may cause hepatic, pancreatic, renal, and reproductive effects and may alter haematological [blood], biochemical, and immunologic parameters, the significance of which remains to be solved with chronic toxicity studies.” — Dona A, Arvanitoyannis IS. Health risks of genetically modified foods. Crit Rev Food Sci Nutr. 2009; 49: 164-175 [4]

There are three possible sources of adverse health effects from GM foods:

1. The GM gene product — for example, the Bt toxin in GM insecticidal crops — may be toxic or allergenic

2. The GM transformation process may produce mutagenic effects, gene regulatory effects, or effects at other levels of biological structure and function that result in new toxins or allergens and/or disturbed nutritional value

3. Changes in farming practices linked to the use of a GMO may result in toxic residues — for example, higher levels of crop contamination with the herbicide Roundup are an inevitable result of using GM Roundup Ready(r) crops (see Sections 4, 5).[5]

These studies show abnormal growths in lab rats that the FDA ignores. Mice and rabbits also showed very negative health effects from GMO food: Mice fed GM soy showed disturbed liver, pancreas and testes function. The researchers found abnormally formed cell nuclei and nucleoli in liver cells, which indicates increased metabolism and potentially altered patterns of gene expression.

Liberals’ ‘Money for Nothing’ Electrical System

If Ontario’s power system under Premier Kathleen Wynne and her predecessor, Dalton McGuinty, has a theme song, it would be the 1985 Dire Straits hit Money for Nothing.

Through poor planning and political interference with their own experts, the Liberals have created a perfect storm, generating a chronic surplus of expensive, unneeded electricity they have to sell at a loss to the U.S. and Quebec.

Paying for those losses helps drive up electricity rates, the opposite of a normal market in which prices drop if supply exceeds demand.

Given this, the Liberals routinely pay power generators not to produce electricity.

Hence, money for nothing, paid by taxpayers and hydro ratepayers.

38,000-Year-Old Rock Art Discovered in France

In the summer of 2012, a group of archaeologists turned over a broken block of limestone on the floor of a rock shelter in southwestern France and discovered what could be one of the oldest examples of art in Europe.

Scrawled with the image of an aurochs (an extinct species of cattle) and dozens of small dots, the slab was created by the Aurignacians, the first Homo sapiens to arrive in Europe. Radiocarbon tests showed that the engraving dates back to about 38,000 years ago, according to a Jan. 24 report in the journal Quaternary International.

New York University anthropologist Randall White, a co-author of the study who led recent excavations at the rock shelter, said that the discovery “sheds new light on regional patterning of art and ornamentation across Europe” at a time when humans were just starting to spread across the continent.

France Calls for Trump’s Travel Ban to be Scrapped

French Foreign Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault said Monday in Tehran that it would be “common sense” for US President Donald Trump to scrap a travel ban on seven Muslim-majority countries, including Iran.

“I think that it would be common sense” for Trump to rescind the executive order imposing travel curbs on Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen, Ayrault said at the start of a visit to Iran.

The measure was “unacceptable and very punishing for those concerned,” he told members of the French community and media gathered at the ambassador’s residence in Tehran.

“I am thinking of dual nationals, French-Iranians, Iranian-Americans, who have been hurt by this situation. It is a shock for them, a wound,” he said, demanding “clarifications” from the US administration.

Monsignor: Everyone in Italy and the Rest of Europe Will “Soon be Muslim”

Everyone in Italy and the rest of Europe will “soon be Muslim” because of our “stupidity”, warned Monsignor Carlo Liberati, Archbishop Emeritus of Pompei. Liberati claimed that, thanks to the huge number of Muslim migrants alongside the increasing secularism of native Europeans, Islam will soon become the main religion of Europe. “All of this moral and religious decadence favours Islam”, Archbishop Liberati explained.

Décadence is also the title of a new book by the French philosopher Michel Onfray, in which he suggests that the Judeo-Christian era may have come to an end. He compares the West and Islam: “We have nihilism, they have fervor; we are exhausted, they have a great health; we have the past for us; they have the future for them”.

Archbishop Liberati belongs to a growing branch of Catholic leaders who refuse to see the future belonging to Islam in Europe. They speak in open opposition to Pope Francis, who does not seem too impressed by the collapse of Christianity due to falling birth rates, accompanied by religious apathy and its replacement by Islam.

Populist Geert Wilders Praises Donald Trump’s Travel Order

Anti-Islam lawmaker Geert Wilders clashed in the Dutch Parliament Tuesday with the foreign minister over U.S. President Donald Trump’s travel ban for people from seven Muslim nations.

Wilders — seen by many as a Dutch equivalent of Trump — paid tribute to the new U.S. leader, saying, “Finally America has a president, finally a country in the West has a president, who not only lives up to his promises but who says ‘the freedom of my citizens is more important than anything.’“

Foreign Minister Bert Koenders hit back. “If you want to fight terror, then the worst thing you can do is trample human rights,” he said.

The heated debate foreshadows what is likely to be a highly charged campaign ahead of national elections on March 15. Wilders’ Party for Freedom, which currently holds 12 seats in Parliament’s lower house, is polling strongly ahead of the vote.

Wilders’ party has long advocated banning migration to the Netherlands from Muslim nations and even called on Trump in a tweet over the weekend to extend his ban to Saudi Arabia.

Soros-Funded NGOs Aiming to Bring Down Hungarian Govt — Foreign Minister to RT

The activities of organizations funded by US billionaire investor George Soros in Hungary are “anti-democratic,” as they want to undermine the government in Budapest, the foreign minister of Hungary told RT.

Soros “would like this government to fail, he would like to kind of fire this government because he doesn’t like our approach, doesn’t like our policies,” Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto told RT’s Sophie Shevardnadze.

“We find it very anti-democratic if someone from abroad would like to influence Hungarian voters on whom to vote for,” he asserted.

Several days before the interview, the Hungarian parliament began to discuss a bill allowing authorities to audit NGO executives and request detailed reports on their foreign donations.

Earlier in January, chairman of the ruling Fidesz party Szilard Nemeth said that “these organizations must be pushed back with all available tools, and I think they must be swept out, and now I believe the international conditions are right for this with the election of the new president [Donald Trump].”

Last September, Nemeth, who is also the deputy chairman of Hungary’s National Security Committee, submitted a list of 22 NGOs “connected to the Soros network for the purpose of having these organizations screened.”

Spain: Madrid’s Mayor Compared Trump to Hitler Over Travel Ban

The mayor of Madrid has compared President Donald Trump to Hitler over his travel ban on seven Muslim-majority countries and suspension of the arrival of Syrian refugees.

“We know that his government has been legitimately elected and has the popular support of a large number of citizens,” Manuela Carmena said on Monday during a council plenary session.

“But in the 20th century we experienced one of the greatest violations of human rights by a government that also initially enjoyed popular support,” she said in an oblique reference to the Nazi government of Adolf Hitler.

Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Löfven and German Chancellor Angela Merkel have emphasized the “shared values” between their two countries following a meeting in Stockholm on the refugee crisis, Brexit, and Donald Trump’s controversial travel ban.

In a media conference attended by The Local following the meeting on Tuesday, Löfven began by praising Merkel and highlighting the shared interests between Germany and Sweden:

“I value Angela Merkel, her leadership and friendship. We share fundamental values, and Germany plays a major role in the growth of the EU and the world.”

“It is no secret that we now face major challenges. It is deeply regrettable that the USA has suspended all travel from citizens of seven countries. That’s anything but good. The EU plays an important role for values and human rights,” the PM added.

“Fighting terrorism does not justify going against an entire group of people from a specific faith,” Merkel noted, reiterating her comments from earlier this week.

Trump’s Likely EU Ambassador Aims to Take EU Down

President Donald Trump already has taken actions that have stirred up the United States, its Congress, its liberals and progressives, all of the Arab world, Mexico and its neighbors to the south, China, the United Nations and others, so why would he leave the European Union untouched?

He might not.

After all, a leading candidate for the post as the U.S. ambassador to that organization “has suggested he wants to bring down the bloc.”

That’s according to the BBC, which interviewed Theodore Roosevelt Malloch about the position.

“I had in a previous career a diplomatic post where I helped bring down the Soviet Union, so maybe there’s another union that needs a little taming,” he said.

He told the BBC interviewer that he shares Trump’s dislike for such international bodies.

“He doesn’t like an organization that is supranational, that is unelected, where the bureaucrats run amok, and is not frankly a proper democracy,” he said.

Trump Trade Team Gets One Right — Germany Befits on Trade From Weak Euro

Economists are looking at the Trump Administration’s attitudes to trade with something between horrified shock and shocked horror. The general understanding of the subject seems to be entirely at odds with the standard beliefs of the experts, said economists. However, it’s also possibly to report something that said administration is getting absolutely correct. Germany is indeed benefiting from the weak euro and it isn’t too much of a stretch to call that whole system, the euro, a system of currency manipulation. Which is what has just been said and of course this truth is bring its own gasps of horror.

‘Critics of Trump Travel Ban Are Hypocrites’

Citing Arab countries’ bans on allowing in Israelis, the Dutch right-wing politician Geert Wilders called critics of the U.S. visa ban “hypocrites.”

Wilders, whose rightist Party for Freedom has been leading in five major polls conducted this month ahead of the March general elections, on Sunday made the assertion about President Donald Trump’s 90-day suspension of allowing in most travelers from seven predominantly-Muslim countries, including Iran.

Posting on Twitter a screen image of a table from Wikipedia on 16 countries that allegedly do not allow in holders of Israeli passports, Wilders wrote: “So where were the protests and demonstrations of the left? #hypocrisy.”

Of the 16 countries listed — all of them predominantly-Muslim — 11 are Arab states. Of those, six are countries classified by Israel as enemy states where citizens of the Jewish State are legally prohibited from entering according to Israeli law. Israel does not exclude granting a visa to any applicants solely on the basis of their nationality, according to its Ministry of Foreign Affairs.[…]

French Court Ruling: Israeli Presence in the ‘West Bank’ Is Legal

by Ezequiel Doiny

On January 13, 2017 JEAN-PATRICK GRUMBERG wrote in dreuz.info “In a historic trial carefully forgotten by the media, the 3rd Chamber of the Court of Appeal of Versailles declared that Israel is the legal occupant of the ‘West Bank’.”

When I first learned that the Court of Appeal of Versailles had ruled that the building of Jewish communities and the governing of the region of Judea and Samaria by Israel is unequivocally legal under international law, in a suit brought by the Palestinian Authority against French companies Alstom and Veolia for building Jerusalem’s light rail system — and that received no media coverage — I decided to put my years of Law Studies in France to work, and I meticulously analyzed the Court ruling.

To my astonishment, pro-Israeli media did not cover it either. The few who mentioned the case did not have any legal background in French law to understand the mega-importance of the ruling. Several left leaning English-speaking Israeli websites reported it, calling it a decision strictly pertinent to the Jerusalem light rail. It’s not.

To make sure I did not overestimate my legal abilities, I submitted my analysis and the Court papers to one of France’s most prominent lawyers, Gilles-William Goldnadel, President of Lawyers without Borders, to receive his legal opinion. He validated my findings. Then I decided to translate the papers into English, and they will soon be submitted to Benjamin Netanyahu through a mutual friend.

First and foremost, the Versailles Court of Appeals had to determine the legal rights of Palestinian Arabs and Israelis in the ‘West Bank.’ Their conclusion: Palestinian Arabs have no rights — in the international legal sense — to the region, unlike Israel, which is legitimately entitled to occupy all land beyond the 1967 line.

The context :

In 1990, Israel accepted bids for the construction of the Jerusalem light rail. The tender was won by French companies Veolia and Alstom. The light rail was completed in 2011, and it crossed Jerusalem all the way to the eastern part of the city and the so-called ‘occupied territories’ (more about this term later).

Following this, the PLO filed a complaint with the High Court (Tribunal de Grande Instance) of Versailles France, against Alstom and Veolia, because according to the PLO, “the construction of the tram is illegal since the UN, the EU, many NGOs and governments consider that Israel is illegally occupying Palestinian territories.”

The quest for the International Legislation to establish the rights of each party.

To be able to rule on whether the light rail construction was legal or not, the court had to seek appropriate texts of international law and examine international treaties, in order to establish the respective rights of the Palestinian Arabs and the Israelis.

And to my knowledge, this is the first time that a non-Israeli court has been led to rule on the status of the ‘West Bank.’

Why is this an historical ruling, asks Grumberg? It is the first international case since the declaration of the State of Israel in 1948.

It is the first time since the establishment of the State of Israel in 1948 that an independent, non-Israeli court has been called upon to examine the legal status of ‘West Bank’ territories under international law, beyond the political claims of the parties.

Keep in mind that the Court’s findings have no effect on international law. What they do, and that is of the utmost importance, is use international law to clarify the legal reality.

The Versailles Court of Appeal conclusions are as resounding as the silence in which they were received in the media: Israel has real rights in Judea and Samaria (aka ‘the territories’ or ‘West Bank’), its decision to build a light rail or anything else in the area is legal, and the judges rejected all the arguments presented by the Palestinians.

Yemen Anti-Terror Raid Turned up Intel ‘Treasure Trove, ‘ Sources Say

A raid targeting senior Al Qaeda leaders in Yemen over the weekend yielded a large amount of potential intelligence, military sources tell Fox News.

The sources told Fox that the intelligence haul from the compound is “almost as good as Abbottabad,” a reference to the 2011 raid that killed Usama bin Laden. One source described the information as a “treasure trove.”

Navy Chief Petty Officer William “Ryan” Owens was killed and at least three other U.S. service members were wounded in the raid. Three more service members were injured when an MV-22 Osprey sent in to evacuate the wounded made a crash landing.

“It was a hard target. They made a tough call on the ground and went in the hard way. This was not a stand-off operation,” a senior military source told Fox News. “If they had not gone in on the target, they might not have lost anyone, but they also might not have gathered what they did from the compound.”

California’s Big Threat to Protect Illegal Aliens

“An internal report by the Texas Department of Public Safety obtained by PJ Media reveals that over a span of about 6 years, illegal immigrants in the state committed over 600,000 crimes and were involved in nearly 3,000 homicides.

“According to PJ Media, the Texas DPS report found that from October 2008 to April 2014, 177,588 “unique criminal alien defendants” were booked and committed 611,234 unique crimes, including 2,993 murders: “From October 2008 to April 2014, Texas identified a total 177,588 unique criminal alien defendants booked into Texas county jails. These individuals have been identified through the Secure Communities initiative, in which Texas has participated since October 2008. A review of these 177,588 defendants shows that they are responsible for at least 611,234 individual criminal charges over their criminal careers, including 2,993 homicides and 7,695 sexual assaults.”

All those lives and families destroyed so vile politicians and special interest groups can protect illegal aliens. Those are just the ones who’ve been caught. Think you or your loved ones won’t be a victim? Think again.

The massive invasion by illegal aliens is the number one reason why my late husband and I left California in 2006. California has a personal state income tax; Texas, where I reside, doesn’t have one. Taxation in California is astronomical and a massive amount is spent protecting individuals, regardless of age or country of origin, in the state illegally. They are given a free ride while hard working Californians scrimp and scrape along trying to provide for their families.

We know illegals are voting. Their state legislature has been dominated by racists and Marxists for DECADES and lunatics for governors; former cocaine snorting current governor Jerry Brown and Arnold the idiot Schwarzenegger to name two. Their former Attorney General, Kamala Harris, is a stinking communist. She took retiring Senator Barbara Boxer’s seat so we have another Red in Congress.

The Art of the New Deal: How Trump is Using Mexican Company Cemex’s Concrete to Build the Wall and Profit Both Countries

The US tech industry “resistance” to Trump is growing louder, and on Tuesday a group of top technology companies including Google, AirBnB and Netflix, plan to meet on Tuesday to discuss filing an amicus brief in support of a lawsuit challenging President Trump’s order restricting immigration from seven Muslim-majority countries, said a spokesperson for a company organizing the gathering cited by Reuters. The meeting is being called together by GitHub, which makes software development tools.

For those unfamiliar, amicus, or “friend of the court”, briefs are filed by parties who are not litigants in a case but want to offer arguments or information to the judge. In other words, tech companies do not want to burn all bridges with the president, but they don’t want to lose their liberal clients either by being perceived as doing nothing, something which impacted Uber adversely over the weekend, leading to the #DeleteUber social media meme…

While Trump has made the creation of American jobs the central selling point of his Presidency, he has also stated that the wall will “help” Mexico. In the case of Cemex, it becomes clear how the wall will, at least in part, help Mexico: no matter which country pays for it, some of the funds will return to Mexican firms who help the United States with construction. Contracting with Cemex for the concrete used to build the wall is a win-win situation for both Cemex and Trump. Cemex employs thousands of Americans in their U.S. operations. By contracting with Cemex, Trump is able to deliver on his promise not just to benefit Mexico financially, but to also help ensure that American jobs are retained and possibly more created by Cemex as it ramps up operations to meet American textile demands for the wall.

  1. “In preparing tonight’s news feed, I learned that the vice president of Venezuela is a man of Druze-Lebanese background named Tareck El Aissami. I never knew that before.”

I have been surprised in the past by Iranian connections to Venezuela. Worthy of a little digging.

  2. I stopped using Google right after the election, when they demonstrated to me by their “election map” shenanigans that the time of “don’t be evil” is long past. Duckduckgo works as well, and they don’t track.

The wall: I am waiting for Trump people to talk logistics before cement. How do we best guard that border? I think there are a number of aspects of it. A simple wall or fence can be evaded or sabotaged. Mr. Trump, don’t just pass an EO on this. Start a nationwide conversation.

    • A nation wide conversation is likely unnecessary.

Trump has 3 real military generals in the top security positions… these guys would know that a wall in a passive obstacle and requires a constant active surveillance and interdiction force.

Look for surveillance drones and patrols before, during and after the construction.

      • Yes it is. The nation is divided, and the nation needs to come together, and have a hand in decision making. It could well be that a wall is not the best solution. It could be that a “drone wall” or something like that would work best? I don’t know… seems to me we need to talk and think, and no leave it to any generals alone.

        • vera-

Half the nation seems to believe that the parable of the Good Samaritan and the New Testament are suicide pacts, and they feel just GREAT about that.

          How do we fix that?

    • Ms. Sarsour should spend several years in Saudi, Qatar, Bahrain, or a similar state to learn how amazing life is for the fairer sex under the auspices of sharia.

      • She would celebrate it. She is the type of woman, who if in Syria today would joint the ISIS Sharia Police.

  3. For more information on Germany, Austria and Switzerland, go to PI: http://www.pi-news.net/ They post important news (from MSM), and in the comments under each article, if you ctrl+f for htt, you will find that people post links to many more articles.

Also, https://crimekalender.wordpress.com/ has been keeping tabs on migrant crime for a while now, with media sources linked.

I’m trying to place translations of some of these articles here (with links for German speakers or if people want to use their translation function), because people in English speaking countries need to see what is happening in Europe and decide whether that is what they want.

PS, for any critics reading this: in case you think migrants are ‘no more criminal’ than Germans, that is false. http://www.tichyseinblick.de/gastbeitrag/sind-migranten-ebenso-kriminell-wie-deutsche/:

The BKA (Federal Criminal Police Office of Germany) published statistics supposedly showing that migrants commit a similar number of crimes to Germans. But they failed to apply the numbers to the relative population sizes. At Tichyseinblick this analysis has been done and proves that not-Germans commit more crimes (not even counting immigration legal status crimes).

Also, the BKA statistics don’t separate out recent migrants but simply all ‘not-Germans’. So that would include well-behaved Vietnamese, English, Japanese immigrants etc.

The outcome: “If one compares the number of criminals within a group to the total size of that group, again a totally different outcome appears: Not-Germans act criminally about three times as often as Germans and, in the socially sensitive area of the sexual crimes of rape and sexual assault, commit about four times as many crimes.”

Now, consider that the BKA stats include ‘Not-Germans’ who do not come from misogynist cultures, and you can see why German women now specifically do and should fear middle-eastern immigrants/refugees/asylum seekers.
