Gates of Vienna News Feed 12/11/2016

John Bolton, who has reportedly been tapped to be assistant secretary of state in the incoming Trump administration, said that the alleged report by the CIA about an alleged Russian “hack” of the presidential election may in fact have been a “false flag” operation. Mr. Bolton also said that intelligence has become far too politicized under the Obama administration.

In other news, Austrian Foreign Minister Sebastian Kurz said that his country will definitely veto any accession to the EU by Turkey.

“Anti-Violence” Program is “Racist”

An Obama program to “curb violent extremism” has been attacked as “falsely legitimizing hostility” against Somalis-because it seeks to stop that community, and no one else, from embracing terrorism. The establishment has been tied into knots trying to explain why it is not “bigotry” to give cash to “stop” Muslims from becoming terrorists.

“Hard-Core Clinton Fanatic” Manufactured “Viral Fake News” That MSNBC Used to Discredit WikiLeaks

The phrase “Fake News” has exploded in usage since the election, but the term is similar to other malleable political labels such as “terrorism” and “hate speech”; because the phrase lacks any clear definition, it is essentially useless except as an instrument of propaganda and censorship. The most important fact to realize about this new term: those who most loudly denounce Fake News are typically those most aggressively disseminating it.

One of the most egregious examples was the recent Washington Post article hyping a new anonymous group and its disgusting blacklist of supposedly pro-Russia news outlets — a shameful article mindlessly spread by countless journalists who love to decry Fake News, despite the Post article itself being centrally based on Fake News. (The Post this week finally added a lame editor’s note acknowledging these critiques; the Post editors absurdly claimed that they did not mean to “vouch for the validity” of the blacklist even though the article’s key claims were based on doing exactly that).

Now we have an even more compelling example. Back in October, when WikiLeaks was releasing emails from the John Podesta archive, Clinton campaign officials and their media spokespeople adopted a strategy of outright lying to the public, claiming — with no basis whatsoever — that the emails were doctored or fabricated and thus should be ignored. That lie — and that is what it was: a claim made with knowledge of its falsity or reckless disregard for its truth — was most aggressively amplified by MSNBC personalities such as Joy Ann Reid and Malcolm Nance, The Atlantic’s David Frum, and Newsweek’s Kurt Eichenwald.

That the emails in the Wikileaks archive were doctored or faked — and thus should be disregarded — was classic Fake News, spread not by Macedonian teenagers or Kremlin operatives but by established news outlets such as MSNBC, the Atlantic and Newsweek. And, by design, this Fake News spread like wildfire all over the internet, hungrily clicked and shared by tens of thousands of people eager to believe it was true. As a result of this deliberate disinformation campaign, anyone reporting on the contents of the emails was instantly met with claims that the documents in the archive had been proven fake.

Another Interfaith Gathering at the Muslim Brotherhood Controlled Islamic Society of Boston

Back in August 2009, we published an article in the New English Review, “Chelm on the Charles River.” It was about the dedication of the controversial Islamic Society of Boston Cultural Center (ISBCC) in Roxbury, Massachusetts. The event was attended by the late Mayor of Boston, Thomas Menino, former Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick, and leaders of both the Christian and the Jewish Community. It was a testament to the collective myopia in the face of overwhelming evidence unearthed about the ISBCC’s connections to the Muslim Brotherhood affiliate, the Muslim American Society. Among the ISBCC Trustees were convicted terror financier Abdurrahman Alamoudi and exiled Egyptian Brotherhood spiritual leader Yusuf al Qaradawi, a notorious anti-Semite and promoter of Jewish genocide.

The investigations were led by Dr. Charles Jacobs of Americans for Peace and Tolerance (APT) who had been the subject of defamation litigation by the ISB back in 2005. It was seeking to impugn Jacob’s reputation, that of Steve Emerson of The Investigative Project, Boston Herald American and FoxNews TV channel WFXT given accusations about those connections.

Jacobs had little support from the established Boston Jewish community during the litigation brought by the ISB, which subsequently collapsed, after costing a fortune in legal fees; an act of Lawfare. Jacobs and a contingent showed up at the 2009 ISBCC dedication of the Mosque and Cultural Center built with millions of Saudi financing on city-owned land transferred under questionable arrangements. Our NER article presented a bill of indictment of the Boston Jewish establishment: the Combined Jewish Philanthropies, the Jewish Community Relations Council and prominent members of the local rabbinate for engaging in an act of betrayal of their co-religionists…

Bolton Questions if Russian Hacks Were ‘False Flag’

John Bolton, the former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations who has been floated for a possible role in Donald Trump’s State Department, questioned reports of Russian interference in the U.S. presidential election.

“It is not at all clear to me, just viewing this from the outside, that this hacking into the DNC and the RNC was not a false flag operation,” he told Fox News’ Eric Shawn on Sunday.

When pressed about his use of the phrase “false flag” and whether he was accusing an entity in the U.S. of involvement, Bolton said, “We just don’t know.”

“But I believe that intelligence has been politicized in the Obama administration to a very significant degree.”…

Breaking Free From the Captured Media

The fundamental dynamic here is the transition from a captive audience in thrall to a handful of media corporations to a radically democratized media. In 1964, Americans had essential zero alternatives to the three TV networks and the mainstream magazines and newspapers.

A few hardy souls subscribed to newsletters from muckrakers such as I.F. Stone, but independent journals and journalists were marginalized.

Any journal that published investigative journalism that called the dominant narratives into question (for example, Ramparts magazine in the late 1960s and early 1970s) attracted the ire of the C.I.A. and the central state’s other organs of security/repression.

If you don’t know anything about this, I recommend reading Site Behind Washington Post’s McCarthyite Blacklist Appears To Be Linked to Ukrainian Fascists and CIA Spies (

Increasingly, the media is becoming more of a Wild West than the homogenized, centralized media with a captive audience. With the advent of digital publishing, a lot more voices can be heard. But it takes effort to find them, and separate the wheat from the chaff. As I explain in my short video (1:21 minutes) recorded for Max Keiser, Comments on being on the “Russian propaganda” List, democracy implicitly imposes a responsibility on the citizenry to sort out who benefits from whatever narrative is being pushed.

Simply put, democracy requires citizens to be skeptical and street-smart. Chumps who can’t figure out when they’re being played will lose their democracy.

The mainstream media is attempting to demonize the independent media by lumping us in with “fake news” click-bait farms and “conspiracy” theorists. Notice what this says about the MSM’s view of its viewers/listeners/readers:

“You are mindless sheep who are easily led astray, you are incapable of sorting wheat from chaff and so you should only listen to your betters — us.”

The New York Times has been caught censoring a story about a Norway pedophile ring that implicates top politicians in the country.

Internet sleuths discovered that an AP article that detailed the Norwegian scandal had been previously published by the New York Times, before they suddenly and inexplicably deleted it from their website.

The pedophile scandal is thought to be one of the biggest in modern history, as authorities in Norway seized 150 terabytes (150,000 gigabytes) of data, including photos, videos and chat transcripts between members of various paedophile networks.

Democrats, Trump, And the Ongoing, Dangerous Refusal to Learn the Lesson of Brexit

The parallels between the U.K.’s shocking approval of the Brexit referendum in June and the U.S.’s even more shocking election of Donald Trump as president Tuesday night are overwhelming. Elites (outside of populist right-wing circles) aggressively unified across ideological lines in opposition to both. Supporters of Brexit and Trump were continually maligned by the dominant media narrative (validly or otherwise) as primitive, stupid, racist, xenophobic, and irrational. In each case, journalists who spend all day chatting with one another on Twitter and congregating in exclusive social circles in national capitals — constantly re-affirming their own wisdom in an endless feedback loop — were certain of victory. Afterward, the elites whose entitlement to prevail was crushed devoted their energies to blaming everyone they could find except for themselves, while doubling down on their unbridled contempt for those who defied them, steadfastly refusing to examine what drove their insubordination.

The indisputable fact is that prevailing institutions of authority in the West, for decades, have relentlessly and with complete indifference stomped on the economic welfare and social security of hundreds of millions of people. While elite circles gorged themselves on globalism, free trade, Wall Street casino gambling, and endless wars (wars that enriched the perpetrators and sent the poorest and most marginalized to bear all their burdens), they completely ignored the victims of their gluttony, except when those victims piped up a bit too much — when they caused a ruckus — and were then scornfully condemned as troglodytes who were the deserved losers in the glorious, global game of meritocracy.

That message was heard loud and clear. The institutions and elite factions that have spent years mocking, maligning, and pillaging large portions of the population — all while compiling their own long record of failure and corruption and destruction — are now shocked that their dictates and decrees go unheeded. But human beings are not going to follow and obey the exact people they most blame for their suffering. They’re going to do exactly the opposite: purposely defy them and try to impose punishment in retaliation. Their instruments for retaliation are Brexit and Trump. Those are their agents, dispatched on a mission of destruction: aimed at a system and culture they regard — not without reason — as rife with corruption and, above all else, contempt for them and their welfare.

Senate Quietly Passes the “Countering Disinformation and Propaganda Act”

Another, perhaps even more dangerous and limiting to civil rights and freedom of speech bill passed on December 8

While we wait to see if and when the Senate will pass (and president will sign) Bill “H.R. 6393, Intelligence Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2017 — which was passed by the House at the end of November with an overwhelming majority and which seeks to crack down on websites suspected of conducting Russian propaganda and calling for the US government to “counter active measures by Russia to exert covert influence … carried out in coordination with, or at the behest of, political leaders or the security services of the Russian Federation and the role of the Russian Federation has been hidden or not acknowledged publicly,” another, perhaps even more dangerous and limiting to civil rights and freedom of speech bill passed on December 8.

Recall that as we reported in early June, “a bill to implement the U.S.’ very own de facto Ministry of Truth has been quietly introduced in Congress. As with any legislation attempting to dodge the public spotlight the Countering Foreign Propaganda and Disinformation Act of 2016 marks a further curtailment of press freedom and another avenue to stultify avenues of accurate information. Introduced by Congressmen Adam Kinzinger and Ted Lieu, H.R. 5181 seeks a “whole-government approach without the bureaucratic restrictions” to counter “foreign disinformation and manipulation,” which they believe threaten the world’s “security and stability.”…

In other words, the Act will i) greenlight the government to crack down with impunity against any media property it deems “propaganda”, and ii) provide substantial amounts of money fund an army of “local journalist” counterpropaganda, to make sure the government’s own fake news drowns that of the still free “fringes.”

So while packaged politely in a veneer of “countering disinformation and propaganda”, the bill, once signed by Obama, will effectively give the government a full mandate to punish, shut down or otherwise prosecute, any website it deems offensive and a source of “foreign government propaganda from Russia, China or other nations.” And since there is no formal way of proving whether or not there is indeed a foreign propaganda sponsor, all that will be sufficient to eliminate any “dissenting” website, will be the government’s word against that of the website. One can be confident that the US government will almost certainly prevail in every single time.

Southern Poverty Law Center Calls Islamic and Black Lives Matter Attacks ‘Radical-Right Terrorist Plots’

The motive for the SLPC’s bizarre definition of the political right remains unclear

The Southern Poverty Law Center, aka the SPLC, has published a list of what they call “Terror from the Right” that categorizes two Islamic terror attacks-including the deadly assault on Orlando’s Pulse nightclub that left 49 dead and the Black Lives Matter-inspired murders of police officers in Baton Rouge and Dallas-as “radical-right terrorist plots.”

The motive for the SLPC’s bizarre definition of the political right remains unclear, but the list of the “stories of plots, conspiracies and racist rampages since 1995 — plots and violence waged against a democratic America” includes a section on the Orlando attack that says:

The Dutch Death Spiral

A country whose most outspoken filmmaker was slaughtered by an Islamist; whose bravest refugee, hunted by a fatwa, fled to the U.S.; whose cartoonists must live under protection, had better think twice before condemning a Member of Parliament, whose comments about Islam have forced him to live under 24-hour protection for more than a decade, for “hate speech.” Poor Erasmus! The Netherlands is no longer a safe haven for free thinkers. It is the Nightmare for Free Speech.

The most prominent politician in the Netherlands, MP Geert Wilders, has just been convicted of “inciting discrimination and insulting a minority group,” for asking at a really if there should be fewer Moroccans in the Netherlands. Many newly-arrived Moroccans in the Netherlands seem to have been responsible for a disproportionate amount of crime there.

UK: Cannabis Has Turned My Darling Son Into a Despicable Thief Who Steals From His Granny: Mother Tells How ‘Harmless’ Drug Tore Family Apart

Before the drugs: Will Bell was an academic, popular boy with a bright future

Our son Will was a highly academic, sporty, handsome, smiling and popular young boy who seemed destined for success.

But when, at just 14, he began smoking cannabis at his all boys’ independent school in South London, he quickly changed into someone we hardly recognised: a boy who stole from his own family to fund the habit that quickly consumed both him — and us.

Will had always been a loving, responsible and outgoing child, but within weeks he developed a chilling lack of conscience about the consequences of his actions, and a frightening facility to lie and cheat.

Predicted excellent grades at GCSE, it seemed he had such a bright future. We could never have foreseen that his drug abuse and destructive behaviour would bring our family near to breaking point.

I’ll never forget the day I found Rizla papers and plastic ‘baggies’, along with the remains of a foulsmelling herb, in his laundry.

Realising that our son was smoking cannabis came as a shock — largely because sport had always been so important to his life that we presumed (quite wrongly) that he would never compromise his fitness. His new habit soon saw him playing truant — and he quickly became rude and aggressive.

There was no question that we needed to seek help, but we then discovered that few people take cannabis seriously, the medical profession included.

In fact, few people actually knew what ‘skunk’ was.

As Will’s dependence on the drug increased, so did my desperation for information — I knew nothing about it, I wasn’t even sure if cannabis was addictive.

But my distress calls to the Government drugs helpline were in vain — the general message was that cannabis was not addictive.

In fact, when I described the effect it was having on our son, I was advised that he must be using a Class A drug — because cannabis ‘doesn’t have the effects’ I was describing.

‘Cannabis makes you withdrawn and relaxed, not aggressive or a thief,’ I was told.

The adviser had clearly never heard of skunk — a particularly potent form of the drug that is now increasingly common.

[Comment: Cannabis THC content is much higher today than the 60s — the government advisor on the “help” line is clueless, it is addictive.]

UK: Royal College of Psychiatrists: Cannabis and Mental Health

Even though THC can produce relaxation, if higher amounts are consumed, it can have the opposite effect by increasing anxiety. Some cannabis users may have unpleasant experiences, including confusion, hallucinations, anxiety and paranoia, depending on their mood and circumstances.

Some users may experience psychotic symptoms with hallucinations and delusions lasting a few hours, which can be very unpleasant. Even though these unpleasant effects do not last long, since the drug can stay in the system for some weeks, the effect can be more long-lasting than users realise.

Long-term use can have a depressant effect and reduce motivation. Some researchers also suggest that long-term use can lead to irreversible, but minor cognitive deficits.

Over the past few years, research has strongly suggested that there is a clear link between early cannabis use and later mental health problems in those with a genetic vulnerability — and that there is a particular issue with the use of cannabis by adolescents.

There is now sufficient evidence to show that those who use cannabis particularly at a younger age, such as around the age of 15, have a higher than average risk of developing a psychotic illness, such as schizophrenia or bipolar disorder.

These studies also show that the risk is dose-related. In other words, the more cannabis someone used, the more likely they were to develop a psychotic illness. Furthermore, a study in Australia recently showed that those who used cannabis could develop the illness about 2.70 years earlier than those who did not.

UK: Scientists Show Cannabis Triples Psychosis Risk: Groundbreaking Research Blames ‘Skunk’ For 1 in 4 of All New Serious Mental Disorders

Super-strength strains of cannabis are responsible for up to a quarter of new cases of psychotic mental illness, scientists will warn this week.

The potent form of the drug, known as ‘skunk’, is so powerful that users are three times more likely to suffer a psychotic episode than those who have never tried it.

Psychosis is defined as a form of mental illness where people experience delusions, hallucinations, or both at the same time. Associated with conditions such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, some people are so badly affected that they end up committing suicide or seriously harming others because they believe they are being ordered to do so by voices in their heads.

The findings will add substance to a 2012 report by the Schizophrenia Commission, which recommended the need for ‘warnings about the risks of cannabis’ to mental health.

That report was chaired by schizophrenia expert Professor Sir Robin Murray, who also played a key part in the new study. It looked at cannabis use in two groups, each containing about 400 people, from 2005 to 2011. Those in the first group had all suffered ‘first-episode psychosis’- a diagnosed first occurrence of the disorder.

[Comment: Cannabis of today is not the same strain as from the 1960s. Those who grew up in the 60s and used it, then stopped it still think marijuana of today is the same kind they used in their youth…wrong… today’s marijuana is being bred so that the THC content is much much higher these days. And a small percentage of people are gentically predisposed to suffering severe negative reactions.]

UK: The Terrible Truth About Cannabis: Expert’s Devastating 20-Year Study Finally Demolishes Claims That Smoking Pot is Harmless

A definitive 20-year study into the effects of long-term cannabis use has demolished the argument that the drug is safe.

Cannabis is highly addictive, causes mental health problems and opens the door to hard drugs, the study found.

The paper by Professor Wayne Hall, a drugs advisor to the World Health Organisation, builds a compelling case against those who deny the devastation cannabis wreaks on the brain. Professor Hall found:

One in six teenagers who regularly smoke the drug become dependent on it,

Cannabis doubles the risk of developing psychotic disorders, including schizophrenia, Cannabis users do worse at school. Heavy use in adolescence appears to impair intellectual development One in ten adults who regularly smoke the drug become dependent on it and those who use it are more likely to go on to use harder drugs, Driving after smoking cannabis doubles the risk of a car crash, a risk which increases substantially if the driver has also had a drink, Smoking it while pregnant reduces the baby’s birth weight.

Last night Professor Hall, a professor of addiction policy at King’s College London, dismissed the views of those who say that cannabis is harmless.

‘If cannabis is not addictive then neither is heroin or alcohol,’ he said.

‘It is often harder to get people who are dependent on cannabis through withdrawal than for heroin — we just don’t know how to do it.’

Those who try to stop taking cannabis often suffer anxiety, insomnia, appetite disturbance and depression, he found. Even after treatment, less than half can stay off the drug for six months.

[Comment: Why do think Soros is pouring millions into legalization of pot? Out of the goodness of his heart? For the altruistic benefit of the American citizens? It is just another component of this sc*mbag’s assault on western nations. Populations in western countries are in a war they don’t even realize exists. Soros funded (via refugee “rights” groups) mass migration into western countries is another prong in the assault.]

Explosion at Cairo Church Kills at Least 25, Injures 49, Officials Say

An explosion ripped through Cairo’s Coptic cathedral complex on Sunday, killing at least 25 people and injuring 49, Egypt’s health ministry said.

It was unclear whether a bomb triggered the blast. There were no immediate claims of responsibility.

A Coptic church spokesman told local media that the explosion took place inside the 100-year-old Botrosiya church, which is located inside the St. Mark’s Coptic Orthodox Cathedral in Cairo’s Abbasia enclave.

Some reports from local newspapers and TV networks suggested that a bomb was placed inside a handbag in a section of the church designated for female worshippers. A large proportion of the victims are women, according to local reports.

Sunday’s violence came less than 48 hours after a bomb killed six police officers and injured another three on Friday on a road leading to Egypt’s famed Great Pyramids complex.

Egypt’s Orthodox Coptic Christian community, who make up 10 percent of the population, have long felt discrimination at the hands of the country’s Muslims. Attacks on Christians have intensified since the 2011 populist revolts that ousted President Hosni Mubarak.

Egypt’s Islamic State branch, located in the restive northern Sinai Peninsula, have claimed responsibility for many attacks, particularly ones targeting soldiers and officials in recent months…

Gaza Children: ‘Jews: Beware of Mohammed’s Army’

Gaza children spew hate, young father says their words are not hate but tenets of the Quran.

Gazan children paraded at an event marking 29 years since the founding of the Hamas terror organization, flying Hamas and “Palestinian” flags and chanting, “We’re the al-Kassam troops.”

According to the Hamas newspaper Palestin, 11-year-old Muaez Tanbura swore he would “return to Palestine after it was Judenrein” and said “we will free our entire land.”

His friend, Ismail Rihan, flew a “Palestinian” flag and said, “I love Palestine. Jews, remember Khaybar: Mohammed’s army will be back. Get out of here. I want to expel you.”

Hamis al-Masri, a young father, said, “Neither the adults nor the children will forget our land. The adults have passed the key of return to the children, and we will not stop working to return to our land and our longing to return will not weaken with time. The land’s owner will not leave his land. The Zionist enemy has no place on our land.”

He also said the children’s awareness of the issue stems from education in line with the Quran and their longing to return to their land and homes.

The Middle East’s Worst Nightmare: The Coming War Between Israel and Russia

EDITOR’S NOTE: What many people don’t realize about the current situation with the civil war in Syria is that with each passing day, Israel and Russia grow closer and closer to facing each other militarily. As Israel protects its interests against Syrian Muslims, what would happen if Israel was to hit a Russian target in Syria accidentally? The Israeli Air Force is one of the greatest in the whole world, thanks to the support of the United States, and Russia is itching to take them on. If this were to happen, where would it end? Syrian media has reported that Israel fired several surface-to-surface missiles at a military airport. Yet much more significant is that fact that the airport was located outside Damascus, probably at least twenty-five miles from the Israeli border. If in fact the attack occurred-and Israel is neither confirming nor denying that it has-what does this mean?

For starters, a missile that can reach Damascus isn’t some tactical anti-tank rocket fired by the Israeli army at some Hezbollah or ISIS gunmen on the border. Most likely it was a stand-off missile, perhaps an air-launched Popeye or Delilah, or some top-secret guided weapon never before used…

But as Israeli military commentator Ron Ben-Yishai perceptively asks, why did Israel use missiles instead of the aircraft that it usually does? “Accurately dropping bombs is usually cheaper than firing surface missiles,” Ben-Yishai writes. “The cost of one accurate rocket is higher than the cost of accurate aerial munition, even when taking into account the cost of operating the plane and the pilot. It’s reasonable to assume, therefore, that if Israel did in fact use surface-to-surface missiles, as the Syrian media claimed, it had a good reason to do so.”

I loved studying, but my parents received a good proposal and organized the wedding despite my opposition”, Sumi Akter, 17 year old Muslim girl married off when she was 14 tells AsiaNews. Hers is one of many cases of child marriage, a scourge that afflicts the whole of Bangladesh society.

Poverty and traditional Islamic culture are the main factors driving families to arrange marriage for girls at an early age. The phenomenon cuts across all religious communities, except for Catholics who do not support early marriages.

The practice is especially widespread in the Islamic community. Sumi today is the mother of a two year old, has two sisters and two brothers. She said that her father, a simple worker, “could not carry on maintaining the family. So they made me marry hiding my real age. “ She risked her life at birth, due to severe bleeding. She’s was care of, but the child was born under-weight and has had several problems. For all these reasons, she says, “I strongly oppose the passage of the law authorizing the marriages before age 18”.

The reference is to a law approved last month by the Dhaka authorities. According to the draft of the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act — 2016, the juvenile marriages will be permitted only in “special circumstances”, such as “accidental or illegal pregnancies”, so as “to save the honor of the girl.”

According to current provisions, the legal age for marriage is 21 years for males and 18 for females. Several activists complain that the bill would legalize forced marriages to repair for pregnancies that are the result of sexual violence, which is widespread in the country.

Official figures show that Bangladesh is the Asian country with the highest rate of child brides. 52% of brides are under 18 years old and 18% under 15 years old.

The juvenile marriages also affect the Hindu community. Bristy Rani was married at 16 years with a boy of 25. Her parents have chosen marriage as a means to “ensure my safety. When I was in school I was the target of several guys who made me marriage proposals and insulted me. Given the situation, my family members agreed. “ According Bristy, poverty and insecurity would push parents to arrange the marriage of their daughters. “Bangladesh is not a safe place for girls — she says — and we cannot move freely. Government and associations must reduce poverty”.

In the Catholic community in general there are few incidents of early marriages. Church authorities do not support the marriage of minors. The rare exception is to Probitro Rozario and Pronoti Gomes (fictional names), spouses at age 16. The local Church has allowed their marriage because Pronoti was pregnant. Irrespective of their case, Probitro believes that “juvenile marriages are wrong. The Church has to transmit good values ??to pupils, teaching Christians not contract marriage in childhood. “

Cannabis Use Linked to Gene Mutation

Scientists from The University of Western Australia have identified how using cannabis can alter a person’s DNA structure, causing mutations which can expose them to serious illnesses, and be passed on to their children and several future generations.

Although the association between cannabis use and severe illnesses such as cancer has previously been documented, how this occurs and the implications for future generations was not previously understood.

Associate Professor Stuart Reece and Professor Gary Hulse from UWA’s School of Psychiatry and Clinical Sciences completed an extensive analysis of literary and research material to understand the likely causes and uncovered alarming information.

“Through our research we found that cancers and illnesses were likely caused by cell mutations resulting from cannabis properties having a chemical interaction with a person’s DNA,” Associate Professor Reece said.

“With cannabis use increasing globally in recent years, this has a concerning impact for the population.”

Angela Merkel Dismisses Rape and Murder of EU Official’s Daughter as ‘An Isolated Incident’ And Insists Germany’s Migrant Influx Has Not Led to a Surge in Violent Crime

Germany’s Chancellor Angela Merkel has insisted a record influx of refugees has not led to a surge in violent crime, despite a spate of high profiles cases.

She said the rape and murder of a German student allegedly committed by a teenage Afghan asylum seeker and the arrest of a 31-year-old Iraqi asylum seeker over sexual assaults on two Chinese students were ‘terrible isolated incidents’.

Merkel, whose CDU party is holding its annual conference in the city of Essen, called for ‘tough sentencing’ where people were convicted of serious crimes.

It’s Not ‘He’ And ‘She’. it’s ‘Ze’: Oxford University Union Tells Students to Use Gender Neutral Pronouns So as ‘Not to Offend Transgender Undergraduates’

Oxford University is encouraging students to use the gender-neutral pronoun ‘ze’ instead of ‘she and ‘he’.

The students’ union wrote in a leaflet that the move was intended to reduce the risk of transgender students being offended.

Students hope that the use of ‘ze’ will continue into university lectures and seminars, reported The Sunday Times.

According to Oxford University’s behaviour code, using the wrong pronoun to define a transgender person is an offence.

  1. Over at the BBC I found this alarming story….

“Mr Putin once brought Konni to a meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, who is scared of dogs. Some press reports at the time said he had done so to intimidate her. But earlier this year, Mr Putin told a German newspaper that he did not know about her fear.

He said: “When I learned that she does not like dogs, I apologised, of course.”

Konni, (now sadly deceased) was one of those scary Labradors. And I’m sure Vlad was briefed on this particular phobia Angela suffers from.

  2. On the story; The Coming war between Russia and Israel.

I doubt that either country wish to go to war against the other. War with Israel would bring a virtual halt to Putin’s plan of a non-Globalist world and Israel’s containment plan of an increasingly militantly aggressive and hostile Muslim world within their area of influence. Such a scenario would create a huge problem for the incoming U.S. president whose own plans with Russia and Israel would be placed in jeopardy.

According to alternative ‘news’ sources both Russia and Israel co-ordinate their activities over Syria so that the risk of conflict between the two countries has become almost negligible.

So the question must be asked here: Did the Russians have advance warning that Israel would take out selected targets at that Syrian base that would have had Hezbollah written all over it? We must remember that Putin also has no time for terrorists.

  3. There is so much “sick” news out there that I am totally disgusted. What happened to decency? Did it disappear to some dark hole in the woods?

The pedophile stuff really disturbed me. I simply can’t imagine anyone doing that to children. On the other hand, I was molested as a child and that was a long time ago, so nothing really changes much. Maybe it’s just in the news more these days.

Also, I am a fan of the Merkel for jail idea. And some of us are aware of the crimes of our so-called leaders. Germany is a disgusting mess. Muslims belong in muslim areas as they are not fit to mix with western society (or what used to be called western society, since it too is going down the tubes). Ugh, the news is so disturbing these days.

    • The so called muslim areas used to be Christian areas. Islam, this death cult belongs to the history books like Nazis and Stalin’s communists!

      • Agree with your comment CrossWare, but the Nazi and Communist ideology have never been defeated and are alive and flourishing in our business and educational institutions that are major factors in driving Western cultural destruction.

        • With Communism I agree they have not discredited yet. Nazis are not so much… I think it is really helped that they got their day in court (Nuremberg), but the communists were not called upon those 100 million they murdered.
Open neo-Nazis (real ones, not the ones the Liberals call Nazis) are rarity, at least I rarely met any of those. But communists and specially the next generation: (communism 2.0) Cultural Marxists… geez! In western societies they spreading like wildfire. In my country Hungary and all the post communist countries they can’t infect anymore! We know them too well!

          • If you are able to, grab a copy of Joseph Farrell’s book, Nazi International, or Jim Marrs book, The Fourth Reich.

Much better if you read both!

If you wish to truly learn how National Socialism and Communism have morphed into one single entity with one single agenda then those books will give you an education.

          • One of my favorite book is from Jorge Semprún: The Long Voyage. I read it in Hungarian translation so let me paraphrase one of his statement which I made into my philosophy:

He talks about when the SS guys handing over soaps to the Jews before leading them into the gas chambers and they laughing their a** off on the their “great joke”!
The writer stops at the moment and he tries to understand how could be someone be so twisted to do such a thing.
Then he notes: “We do not need to understand why they doing what they do, we just have exterminate them!”

            I hate all totalitarian systems.
If you make it to Hungary, please visit a museum called: The House of Terror

In Hungary the Nazis and Communists shared a building (not at the same time), before the Gestapo later the State Defense Agency (ÁVH) used it.

  4. Oh my goodness. Gates of Vienna has hopped on the “reefer madness” bandwagon. All those shameless old canards are being rehashed. Folks, all who care about truth, regardless of whether it satisfies your own take on the matter, please look before you leap.

And as to gene damage… risible. Same poop that used to be floated in the seventies, when no independent cannabis research was allowed to be done, much less published.

Here’s a sensible comment I picked up regarding the so called gene damage research above.

“There have been numerous scare propaganda pieces coming from Australia lately with little or no evidence based on any real studies. Many of these studies use individual synthesized chemicals instead of actual cannabis. When no link or footnotes to actual studies are presented in an article like this you can rest assured it is politically motivated and without complete information presented.”

Drug war policies have fostered violence and corruption as well as vast criminal profits the world over. Guarding poppy fields is one of the reasons U.S. is mired in Afghanistan, Americans are dying there — and as a consequence, drug lords reap obscene profits from heroin. If y’all want to have discussion about any of this, I would be happy to engage. I would hate for this wonderful site to turn into Drug War propaganda, thus dividing us at a time when we need to stay on the same wavelength regarding our core issues.

    • Gates of Vienna didn’t hop on any bandwagons — JD did, in this case. I don’t have to agree with everything I let into the news feed — I just have to hold my nose while I paste it.

That’s probably what earned us our certificate as a “fake news” outlet: the stuff in the news feed. But I believe in giving the tipsters as much latitude as possible — y’all would get pretty tired of this place if my point of view was the only one allowed. I don’t see why we all have to “stay on the same wavelength”. As Walt Whitman said, “I am large; I contain multitudes.”

For the record: I’m a conservative with a libertarian bent, and I think recreational drugs should be legalized — ALL of them — for use by adults. And the penalties for distributing them to minors should be draconian. My opinion on the issue puts me far, far beyond the pale of civilized discourse, so I don’t discuss it much here.

      • Well then, we agree, baron, and I will pipe down. Fraid I am one of those who favors all of them legally regulated too. 🙂

Message to JD: if you want to push anti-pot views, at least you could come up with sane stories rather than rehashed propaganda — or come here and defend your picks in a free exchange of opinions.

Baron, as far as why they picked Gates for that silly list, I don’t think it has anything to do with anything you’ve posted. As long as you vent oppositional opinions and news, you’ll end up on someones McCarthian hit list. Badge of honor, really.

        • I disagree. The PropOrNot people used some fairly standard forms of network linkage analysis (I think the software for it is commercially available) to form a “cloud” of the sites that link RT and Sputnik, and then an outer nebula of those that link to the first group. Although we do link RT and Sputnik here and there, we probably don’t do it often enough be in the first group. The greatest offenders in that inner group were probably InfoWars, ZeroHedge, SHTFPlan, and a few others. JD sends a lot of items from those sites for the news feed, which gives us a fairly high linkage rate to the inner cloud, enough to put us in the outer cloud of “fake news” sites.

It’s a stupid way of analyzing what’s going on, and largely meaningless. Still, it’s enough to get Facebook, Reddit, Google, etc. to ban or restrict linkage to sites on the list. Which was the whole purpose of the operation, in my opinion: to generate a “scientific” list of “fake news” sites which can then be banned.

The ones on the list I don’t understand are VDare, the Unz Review, and AmRen — they aren’t particularly interested in RT and Sputnik as far as I know, not like Alex Jones or ZH. I think they must have been added separately because they are “racists”, in order to make sure they get blocked.

All of the above consists of my assumptions and the deductions made from them. I have no real knowledge of the methodology used by PropOrNot to compile their list.

          • Haven’t smoked dope for some years now, and my brain appears mostly intact (some here may disagree?)

According to “Superfreakonomics”, fount of some wisdom, stronger cannabis is the result of intensive cultivation indoors, which would not happen if the incentive were removed, ie if it were legalised and the strength monitored.

          • Mark, the stronger the pot, the less you need. Better for the lungs. The scaremongering never takes that into account.

The interesting thing about Colorado now is that people are doing a lot of research into the various compounds in pot. Some of them, like the CBCs, are possibly useful in medicine, and don’t get people high. I think the market will drive the less safe/less pleasant stuff out, while branching out and offering many different types of products for different situations, and providing “ingredient” info on the label.

          • Chill Baron.-you know they are merely targeting you with the ridiculous fake news label as part of the Clinton sore loser campaign.

I’ve seen plenty of reputable studies showing that cannabis causes psychotic episodes and that long-term use increases the incidence of mental illnesses such as schizophrenia ,bi-polar disorder and depression.

Some studies put it as an 8 fold increase in chronic mental illness in men and a 3 fold increase in women.

Others put the increased incidence as a 2 fold increase across both genders.

And recent studies show that cannabis is addictive.Which means users who are desperate for a fix and unable to hold down a job will turn to burglary and mugging in order to find the funds to get their next hit.

This might sound judgemental but I freely admit to attending pot parties when a teenager. And some of my friends hallucinated, got a big fright and stopped using.

They were the lucky ones.Because the others became school drop outs and condemned to a cycle of drugging and petty crime and eventually living on the streets.

I’m sad for them .So much potential wasted.
I went along to the parties just to be part of the social scene.I went on to university( as did the friends that got a fright the first time they experienced hallucinations and stopped) .

And those who kept on using and dropped out were no longer the cool cats .They got dropped from the social scene and fell through the cracks..

I agree that chronic pain is not well treated. But then I believe in giving people suffering from and incapacitated by chronic pain(especially cancer) enough morphine to make them comfortable.

And if that means they die a little earlier (perhaps a few years or a few months earlier) instead of drawing out their last days in agony ,that’s fine with me.

Morphine depresses the breathing reflex and if the pain is really bad (such as in end stage cancer) doses high enough to be effective can lead to an earlier but pain free peaceful death.Morphine as a side effect gives a sense of euphoria and well being.Just what the patient suffering an agonizing long drawn out death deserves. You wouldn’t let your dog suffer?-Why deny the same mercy to a person?

          • Ho! What makes you think I’m not chillin’?

I don’t sweat being listed as “fake news” by PropOrNot. I’ve seen far worse than that in the past 10 years, and it toughened me. Made me thick-skinned. “That which fails to kill me, makes me stronger.”

      • Not buying it. As long as I have to help pay for the medical outcomes of people abusing drugs, there is no way I want to legalize it. Now if they had to pay all the medical costs for their stupidity, then I don’t care, but that will never be the case.

        • Well, I don’t support government health care, either! Or helmet laws, for that matter.

          • I do, as you’d expect. In the UK, which has high taxes on nicotine and alcohol, smokers at least contribute sufficiently extra to the exchequer to cover their medical treatment; if other recreational drugs were legalised and taxed sufficiently, the same would apply.

I bow to Nemesis’ practical experience, but prohibition doesn’t work and supports a huge and bloody criminal enterprise.

    • vera. My own experience as a police officer convinced me of a real problem with the so called harmless drug, Cannabis. A major proportion of the domestic violence incidents I attended, and also that of my colleagues, were due to the ‘pot heads’ and their violent tendencies accumulated from years of smoking the stuff. A stand out event I attended had the offender smoking up to 60 cones a day!

You cannot effectively deal with people like that who have become dependant on their fix and behave like automatons where nothing else matters, not even loved ones.

But, I also have relatives who have been using the same substance for decades without any undue effects that I have noticed.

Illicit drugs like alcohol are open to abuse by those who cannot control their habit, just like anything else that people take a shine to, and we are paying dearly as Western cultures for this so very selfish indulgence.

We used to be able to say NO to those things we considered not in our best interests. Now it is open slather on just about everything that one may fancy!

I’m almost with the Baron on legalizing drugs as banning anything does not work, but there are some drugs that should never ever be legalized because they are way too socially and physically destructive, and those would be the ‘manufactured’ type of drug that has become more a human time bomb than something for ‘recreational’ use.

Alcohol abuse was also a ‘drug’ that figured largely in domestic violence call outs, the kind of ‘incidents’ that BTW have increased dramatically ever since governments got the notion to turn ALL domestic related call outs into crimes that someone must be answerable to.

But no one is talking about banning alcohol, and I think we all know the reason for that.

      • Nemesis, I understand your ambivalence. But keep in mind, the worst drug by far is nicotine, killing 400,000 per year. Second come prescription drugs. A far third is alcohol, but alcohol is directly implicated in violence. Is pot? I have never seen a study that showed this. Just because some domestic abusers use pot is not causation, no? And pot has never killed anyone, not one. You’d have to drop a bale of it on top a person to do that. I have seen people who smoke pot get more passive, giggly, tending to raid the cookie jar. I have also seen cancer patients having to get it on the street to help with out of control nausea. Unacceptable.

Also, to add to the health costs… most deaths due to opiates are due to the drug war — people buying illegally produced stuff of uncertain purity and admixture and overdosing by accident.

In any case, the strongest argument, IMO, is on the basis of direct link to organized crime and attendant corruption when desired substances are prohibited, as alcohol showed us. That’s my reason for wanting to end the drug war.

I agree with you regarding the dangers of some manufactured rec. drugs. But in a regulated, legal market the incentives work against that, just like the incentives against bathtub gin. Would you agree with that part?

        • vera, I don’t think any government keeps an accurate record of how many illicit drug users are killed, maimed or suffer permanent psychological and physiological damage, not to mention the social harm that drug use brings with it.

But they can certainly tell you how many die from tobacco and alcohol abuse every year. Does that not strike you as being a distraction to what illegal drugs are really doing to us socially and culturally?

And much of those sources are like Obama’s employment figures, conjured out of thin air to placate the gullible.

I have to say here that there has never been a war on drugs which I believe is a pity. If governments had the political will to rid the streets of illegal drugs it could be done, but such a venture would also require the incursion of special forces into those drug producing nations in order to eradicate their drug fields.

Maybe one day that may have to be done.

But, I look at things from my own experience. I have seen what dependence on drugs does to whole families – it is a social scourge in the wrong hands. Do you believe that by making it legal it would change anything?

Legalizing drugs will bring with it more social problems, you cannot alleviate a social problem by making it legal, and I am reminded of Britain in the 18th Century when massive unemployment caused much drunkenness in the large cities to the point that criminality became a real problem – much as it has become today throughout the West, except the drunkenness is now mixed with illegal drug use which has made things a whole lot worse.

I thought it had become common knowledge that Cannabis use by some can lead to eventual psychological problems – I know I have scheduled many Pot- heads to psyche wards for assessment who have been long term users.

But who is to determine who will and who will not be affected by long term drug use?

In domestic circumstances, and when drug use becomes a crotch for one, the non-using partner and the family eventually suffers. Those users who are at risk of psychological damage have been known to become bi-polar and very violent toward those they think they love the most.

It really is no different to the alcoholic who becomes abusive after having a ‘session’ on the booze – the end results are the same, its just the substance that causes it that is different.

Many of those who use Cannabis do so because they do not like the after affects of a ‘session’ on the booze, but while we have ample evidence for the dangers of alcohol abuse and tobacco smoking there is no significant evidence as to what both legal and illegal drug use does to the human body. As the saying goes; evidence of absence is not absence of evidence, so one must ask themselves, why it is that government can spend billions of dollars in turning people off alcohol and tobacco use, but say nothing in condemnation of illegal drug use?

Remember, it is only the West that has been flooded with the drug menace to the point that it is beginning to tear us apart.

I have an uncle who suffers from motor neurone disease, his only relief from the constant pain he suffers is Cannabis, whenever he can get it, hence my support for some drugs being made legal but on prescription.

          • You are correct Nemesis in saying the link between psychosis and cannabis use is widely accepted . (Research shows that users experience psychotic episodes lasting up to 30 days at each use).

The link between chronic cannabis use and schizophrenia(with delusions of persecution or grandiosity) and hallucinations(both auditory and visual) is also recognized. The link between chronic cannabis bi- polar disorder and chronic depression respectively is also established.

Very early on a link was established between cannabis use and a complete lack of ordinary motivation. Motivation being the drive to improve one’s circumstances to maintain them.Hence the school drop -outs .

These links between mental illness and cannabis use are acknowledged in the fifth edition of “The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders”.They are also officially recognized by the Royal College of Psychiatrists.

If you enjoy case histories you will like the fascinating research by Massood Khan in the journal”Psychiatry” comprehenisively proving the connection between the patient’s chronic cannabis use and his mental illness .Well worth a read. You can google it.

But then as a police officer you are at the pointy end of it and see fascinating “case histories” every day.I did enjoy your observations ,really worthwhile and the basis I am sure of much insight and inspiration for future research.

Thank-you for your service.Without the army and the police ,the weak ,vulnerable and innocent would have no recourse against the triumphantly strong and vicious.

          • And thank you Shelagh for your kind and wise words. Here is some food for thought:

There were not many days on ‘the job’ that I didn’t feel that I had made a difference for someone. I was not what is now termed a ‘law enforcement officer’ that is a cop who does all interactions with the public by the book and what is expected of him from above. I made a point of being what used to be termed a ‘peace officer’.

A peace officer is someone who is able to generally deal with the ‘problem’ at the location and does not resort to law enforcement measures wherever practicable, but gains the general agreement of all concerned so that an outcome can be reached that is of benefit to all while keeping the ‘problem’ out of the courts.

That kind of policing works well for minor infractions of the law or misdemeanours, never for felonious offences.

It is that kind of policing that gains respect from the community that the officer serves and the kind of policing that can become a very valuable tool whenever the community is called upon by police for assistance.

The politicization process of all police forces has killed off the peace officer that has had a negative affect on many of the communities. Without respect from the community the officer serves there can be no peace officer, only a law enforcement role which is to the detriment of all concerned.

          • Glad to hear you were awakened by a loved one suffering. I had the same experience.

The war on drugs began as a witch hunt against the Chinese Americans in the 1870s. Same bull as always… claiming the Chinese men were luring white girls into their opium dens, and other hysteria. That justified illegal seizures of their property. Sound familiar?

It always amazes me that the police in particular have learned so little about the moral and economic consequences of prohibition policies. With Prohibition so recent in memory.

          • Shelagh, people need to learn to tell a difference between fake studies and real studies. Given the fact that particularly in cannabis, all studies were fake until recently, and impartial studies were not permitted, that’s a lot of fakery. Thank the drug wars for that.

          • vera, todays police do as they are told not what they wish to do. If you wish to sling the blame on anyone then you could start by hurling it at those who control the narrative.

It is obvious to me that from your response you reject my experience and that of my colleagues who over decades of attending drug related incidents built up a knowledge on what illegal drugs do to many in our countries.

You instead rely on fake government statistics to bolster your own point of view when it comes to illicit drugs while ignoring all the empirical evidence that has been accumulated over hundreds of years as to the devastating effects of wanton drug use.

Alcohol abuse is bad enough, but you would also add to the mix a cocktail of other intoxicating drugs that exacerbate a social problem that is tearing our cultures apart and needs to be fixed. Making illegal drugs legal will not fix that problem because that kind of action will only encourage the gullible into participating. We need an education program that exposes the dangers of drug and alcohol use to be made mandatory to all pupils.

Your crusade is heading us all toward disaster because you are not thinking out the ramifications of your own actions.

  5. Well vera here’s the thing ,I’m not the one who chooses what is published and peer reviewed in various various medical journals and medical manuals .I just read them ,because you know it’s interesting and even (some would say) educational.(Of course people who think they might learn something from the research published in medical journals probably in your opinion, can’t tell the difference between which journals are legitimate and which are fake.)

So enlighten me as to which medical journals and medical manuals you consider fake. I will then write to the editorial boards applicable in each case and apprise them of the error of their ways ,citing your informed considered and of course disinterested opinion.

I am sure they will publish immediate retractions and be very grateful for your scholarly consideration.

For you see the research which I have cited was indeed published in peer reviewed medical journals and manuals .

And I might need to cancel a few subscriptions if they don’t meet with your high standards.

After all one can’t pollute one’s mind with fake medical research.
