The news feed is light again tonight. Was there perhaps no news today? Did Donald Trump not say anything racist or hateful?
The big story of the day concerns a middle school in Duluth, Minnesota. Somehow a picture of Donald Trump, accompanied by a caption that read “you’re a dead man”, was placed inside a big glass display case in the hall of the school. Administrators at the school are now attempting to determine how that picture made its way into the case.

DULUTH, MN — A picture of Donald Trump with the caption “you’re a dead man” has officials investigating at a Duluth Middle School.
The anti-Trump picture was discovered inside a glass case at Ordean-East Middle School on Monday.
School District officials say the school principal was made aware of the picture on Tuesday and immediately took it out of the case.
School personnel and the school resource officer are looking into how and when it got into the case.
“Sadly, (it’s) another example of the increase in inappropriate and unacceptable behavior related to the election that we’re working to address in our schools,” a statement from the school district read.

George Soros Spends Millions to Bury Republicans, Elect Liberal Prosecutors
Republican Matthew McCord was feeling pretty good about the $12,000 he had raised for his campaign for Henry County district attorney when he was blindsided by a September surprise.
New York billionaire George Soros dumped $147,000 into Georgia Safety & Justice, an independent-expenditure committee registered on Aug. 26, aimed at defeating Mr. McCord and electing his opponent, Democrat Darius Pattillo.
After recovering from the shock, Mr. McCord, a former prosecutor in Clayton and Newton counties, did what he thought was best for himself and the party: He dropped out of the race, allowing Mr. Pattillo to run unopposed.

Trump Has Huge Opportunity to Kill NAFTA
The globalist modus operandi of handing over to the president immense powers to act unilaterally without Congress may now come back to bite them. During the recent presidential campaign, President-elect Donald Trump often railed against the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), charging that it was hollowing out American industry, costing hundreds of thousands of Americans good-paying jobs, and promising to do something about it were he to be elected.

Terrorism Deaths Are Down Worldwide, But Way Up in Richer Countries
Terrorism in 2015 was relentless.
The year began with a deadly attack at the offices of satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo, where armed gunman killed 12 people and wounded five others. That was followed by two attacks in Copenhagen, one at a free-speech debate and another at the city’s largest synagogue. There was a deadly assault at a Tunisian museum (and later a popular beach), and a bombing in Baghdad that killed more than 100 Muslims during the holy month of Ramadan. Then the year ended as it began, with another massacre in Paris—Europe’s worst terror attack in a decade.
Although deaths caused by terrorism fell 10% from 2014, terrorist attacks still claimed the lives of 29,376 people in 2015, according the Global Terrorism Index (pdf), put together by the Institute for Economics and Peace.

UK: Officials Agree to Boot Out a Violent Tunisian Making a Bogus Claim to Halt Deportation
TOP JUDGES yesterday agreed to boot out a violent Tunisian making a bogus claim to halt a three year-old deportation order.
In a rare victory for common sense, the Supreme Court agreed with the Government and said the order to kick out Zouhair Ben Belacum Makhlouf did not contravene his human rights.
Theresa May ordered his deportation in 2012 when Home Secretary on the basis of a prison sentence in 2005 for GBH and possession of a weapon.
Mr Makhlouf tried to claim that would breach his human rights as it would stop him from seeing his son, who a court had already forbidden him from visiting because of his behaviour.
The decision came just 24 hours after a Supreme Court judge, Lady Hale, incensed Brexiteers by suggesting the PM should replace mountains of EU law before triggering Article 50.

Over the last year, General Motors, Ford Motor Company, auto parts maker Dana, Clorox, Kimberly-Clark, Bridgestone Tire, and Liberty Mutual have either sold out their Venezuelan interests at huge losses, have given their factories and properties away for free, or are planning to. Those who used to work for them are now working in another profession: as bachaqueros. This is slang for “giant ants,” used as a pejorative to describe street vendors offering their wares in the black market.

This is the place for general comments.
Dymphna once referred to Obama as the emptiest of empty suits. I just watched the news conference of Obama and Merkel in Germany, and I couldn’t help thinking of Dympthna’s insightful comments. I’d like to say Obama was more vapid and shallow than usual, but this is the first extended new conference I’ve seen him in, so I can’t attest that he has not regularly achieved this peak of blandness and pointlessness.
He used the facade of refraining from criticizing the President-Elect to communicate his deep misgivings and lack of confidence in Trump. Obama really didn’t say anything worth hearing, other than that he thinks the new administration would do best to continue the policies of the Obama administration.
Obama does not come off well in the non-structured environment of a press conference, even though the German reporters tossed long, complex, smoky questions that could be answered by virtually anything he wanted to say. The German reporters, needless to say, thoroughly bought into the weltanschauung that Trump is an impulsive, narrow, ignorant racist who has a 50% chance of pushing the button just because the White House butler looked at him sideways.
As a Canadian I urge all my fellow country men and women to donate . The Baron and Dymphna deserve the support for all the hard work they put into such an intelligent site like Gates of Vienna.
I can’t wait for 2017 when President Trump makes the traditional visit to Ottawa to have a meeting with Prime Minister Justin Bieber . I’m sure it will be a civil…oops, pardon me ,…Trudeau.. ( Silly me,I have a hard time keeping those Justins straight !).
Anyway, this year was hopeful and 2017 will be for even better times. All the best to everyone for a Happy New Year ! – (from a GoV supporter in Saskatchewan).
Looks like the Germans weren’t the only ones to print up some stuff ahead of results:
