20 Minor Injuries After Plane Catches on Fire on O’Hare Runway
American Airlines Flight 383 was rolling down the runway at O’Hare International Airport Friday afternoon, bound for Miami, when the plane skidded to a halt just as it was lifting off.
The pilot got on the radio. “American 383 heavy,” he said, referring to the Boeing 767’s weight class. “Stopping on the runway.”
“Roger, roger. Fire,” a traffic controller calmly replied, according to a recording of tower radio traffic.

(CNBC) An artificial intelligence (AI) system that correctly predicted the last three U.S. presidential elections puts Republican nominee Donald Trump ahead of Democrat rival Hillary Clinton in the race to the White House.
MogIA was developed by Sanjiv Rai, the founder of Indian start-up Genic.ai. It takes in 20 million data points from public platforms including Google, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube in the U.S. and then analyzes the information to create predictions.
The AI system was created in 2004, so it has been getting smarter all the time. It had already correctly predicted the results of the Democrat and Republican Primaries.

An Alexis De Tocqueville for Our Time

Sometimes it takes a foreigner to remind us of our values. Those were my first thoughts after watching a new film by Trevor Loudon, a New Zealand native with a pleasant accent, who interviewed me for his new film The Enemies Within.

Another columnist wrote about the slow roiling controversy touched off by the Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten’s publication of several cartoons that mocked Islam and Muhammad the year before. The Press’s editors and its owners butted heads, harshly, over whether their paper should also publish the cartoons to illustrate the story.
The suits feared a boycott, protests, or worse. They said, go ahead and run the story but leave the pictures out. The editors argued such an omission would be a “hypocritical” cop-out, and walked out in protest. There went the editors. There went my column.

Cascade Mall Shooting Video Released in Arcan Cetin Case
Video of the Cascade Mall shooting — one in which police said shooter Arcan Cetin killed five random victims in the rural mall about an hour and 20 minutes north of downtown Seattle — was released Friday by the Washington State Patrol.
Video of the Sept. 23, 2016, shooting was released after public disclosure requests by multiple news outlets. It shows how the shooter selected his victims, and is a key piece of evidence in the case against Cetin.
Some of the victims ran. At least one tried to confront the shooter.
It appears that those who escaped were able to only because of their distance from the shooter.
Part of the graphic footage shows two of the victims — and woman and her elderly mother — holding each other’s arms as they run behind a makeup counter. A third victim is crouched in the makeup counter.
The shooting suspect runs into frame and fires on all three, then puts his Ruger 10/22 on the counter and runs away.
Cetin was charged with five counts of murder and is being held on $2 million bail in Skagit County District Court. He is expected to be charged in Skagit County Superior Court by January 2017…

Climber at George Washington Bridge Shuts Upper Level
NEW YORK (FOX 5 NY)- A shirtless man was arrested by police after he climbed to the top of one of the towers of the George Washington Bridge Friday morning.
The man was restrained on the New Jersey side of the span and eventually brought down to street level and taken away in an ambulance. He appeared to be limping as he was handcuffed and walked into the vehcile.
All lanes of the upper level of the bridge were closed. Traffic in both directions was reopened intermittently. By approximately 9:45 a.m., the upper level had reopened to all traffic.

In a shocking verdict, seven anti-government militants including Ammon Bundy, were acquitted in federal court of conspiracy charges stemming from their role in the armed takeover of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge in Oregon last winter in protest of the Bureau of Land Management’s treatment of the Hammond Family, as supporters cheered outside the courthouse.
Ammon Bundy, Shawna Cox, David Lee Fry, Jeff Wayne Banta, Neil Wampler and Kenneth Medenbach were found not guilty on all counts, however the court could not reach a verdict on Ryan Bundy regarding a theft charge.
As Intellihub adds, the group’s leader Ammon Bundy will remain in custody to later stand trial for another high-profile standoff which took place at the Bundy Ranch in Nevada where members of militia and the BLM pointed loaded rifles at each other.
The outcome marked a stinging defeat for federal prosecutors and law enforcement in a trial the defendants sought to turn into a pulpit for airing their opposition to U.S. government control over millions of acres of public lands in the West. Oregon Governor Kate Brown (D), who ordered the FBI to act swiftly during the occupation, was also unhappy with the verdict, nor were other local officials, like Harney County Sheriff Dave Ward who some have accused of violating the U.S. Constitution during the occupation.
Bundy and others, including his brother and co-defendant Ryan Bundy, cast the 41-day occupation of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge as a patriotic act of civil disobedience. Prosecutors called it a lawless scheme to seize federal property by force.

The FBI has reopened its investigation into Hillary Clinton’s secret emails, Director James Comey told Congress in a new letter Friday, heightening the stakes for the Democratic presidential nominee with less than two weeks before Election Day.
Mr. Comey said his agents learned of new emails “pertinent” to their probe while working on an unrelated case. He said his agents need to review those messages to see whether they contain classified information and whether they affect his previous decision.

Plane Carrying Mike Pence Skids Off NYC Runway
(CNN)Donald Trump’s running mate Mike Pence said Friday he is “fine” following his plane skidding off the runway at LaGuardia Airport on Thursday night, adding there were about “10 seconds of uncertainty.”
“We’re fine,” the Indiana governor told CNN’s Alisyn Camerota on “New Day” during a phone interview. “It was about 10 seconds of uncertainty last night, but we’re just so grateful to the pilots and to the first responders on the scene and (that) everybody came off the plane safely.”

To believe recent mainstream media polling releases, one would have to suspend reality enough to believe that John Podesta’s email leaks, the ongoing Project Veritas video series, a world on fire, and new revelations about Obamacare are driving the public to embrace Hillary Clinton as never before. Trump and His Supporters Are Fighting a Rigged System
Everything goes well as long as both parties don’t rock the boat. But once you get a true wildcard like Trump, the system must spring into action to stop the threat to the established order. Two CSX Trains Collide Head on in Chester, Pennsylvania
Moments ago, CBS Philadelphia reported that Officials say two people were taken to local hospitals after two CSX trains collided in Chester, Pennsylvania.
The crash between CSX locomotives 4402 and 5000 happened about 8:30 a.m. near Green and Felton Streets in Chester Township. The site of the crash is Concord Road at Bethel Road.
Luckily, there were virtually no people on the two trains and thus there were no injuries or casualties. One of the trains consisted of empty freight cars, CSX spokesman Rob Doolittle said. The other was carrying a variety of consumer and industrial products but none were considered hazardous.

When CIA and NSA Workers Blow the Whistle, Congress Plays Deaf
It’s pretty clear that those intelligence agencies — not the elected representatives of the people — are running the show in Washington
DO THE COMMITTEES that oversee the vast U.S. spying apparatus take intelligence community whistleblowers seriously? Do they earnestly investigate reports of waste, fraud, abuse, professional negligence, or crimes against the Constitution reported by employees or contractors working for agencies like the CIA or NSA? For the last 20 years, the answer has been a resounding “no.”
My own experience in 1995-96 is illustrative. Over a two-year period working with my wife, Robin (who was a CIA detailee to a Senate committee at the time), we discovered that, contrary to the public statements by then-Chairman of the Joint Chiefs Colin Powell and other senior George H. W. Bush administration officials (including CIA Director John Deutch), American troops had in fact been exposed to chemical agents during and after the 1991 war with Saddam Hussein. While the Senate Banking Committee under then-Chairman Don Riegle, D-Mich., was trying to uncover the truth of this, officials at the Pentagon and CIA were working to bury it.
At the CIA, I objected internally — and was immediately placed under investigation by the CIA’s Office of Security. That became clear just days after we delivered the first of our several internal briefings to increasingly senior officials at the CIA and other intelligence agencies. In February 1995, I received a phone call from CIA Security asking whether I’d had any contacts with the media. I had not, but I had mentioned to CIA officials we’d met with that I knew that the CBS newsmagazine “60 Minutes” was working on a piece about the Gulf War chemical cover-up. This call would not be the last I’d receive from CIA Security about the matter, nor the only action the agency would take against us.

Italy: Fininvest Challenges ECB Decision on Mediolanum
Appeals to Lazio TAR, Council of State agst Bank of Italy
(ANSA) — Milan, October 28 — The board of Silvio Berlusconi’s holding company Fininvest on Friday said it had decided to challenge “in all competent fora”, including the European Court of Justice, the European Central Bank’s decision on its stake in Banca Mediolanum and had filed two appeals against the Bank of Italy”, one at the Regional Administrative Court (TAR) of Lazio and the other at the Council of State. On Wednesday it emerged that the ECB was against Fininvest taking back full control of a 30% stake in Mediolanum because of the “reputational profile” of Berlusconi. The ECB said it opposes Fininvest owning a “significant stake” in the Banca Mediolanum bank.
The ECB decision came in the wake of an administrative procedure by the Bank of Italy. The Italian central bank in October 2014 ordered Fininvest to sell 20% of Mediolanum holdings as the three-time prime minister could no longer own more than 10% of a financial company following a tax-fraud conviction. The Council of State, Italy’s top administrative court, in December 2015 ruled in favor of Fininvest’s case to suspend the forced sale.
Such a sale would have left Fininvest with a stake of 9.9% in Mediolanum, which is controlled by the Doris family.
A statement released by Berlusconi’s holding on Wednesday said Fininvest questioned the decision and “will preserve its rights and interests with the utmost energy and determination” at a national and European level.

In his latest Sputnik Radio International interview Srdja Trifkovic discusses the Czech Republic government’s establishment of an information unit to counter what it says is pro-Russian, anti-Western and anti-NATO propaganda. “We want to get into every smartphone,” said Milan Chovanec, the Czech interior minister.

ST It is strangely reminiscent of the old Soviet times, when any criticism of Soviet policies was termed “anti-Soviet propaganda,” and was ascribed to some mysterious imperialist forces in the West that were out to subvert the Soviet Union and its “Fraternal Community of Socialist Nations.” It is rather funny that — more than a quarter of a century after the end of the Cold War — we see the exact replica of the mindset, and a state-financed reaction, on the side of the so-called liberal-democratic, free-market-oriented, “Western” members of NATO. It is also significant that one of the foremost critics of the Western policies in general, and in Ukraine in particular, is Vaclav Klaus, one of the most respected Czech politicians.
My immediate thought is whether they regard Mr. Klaus — the elder statesman of the Czech Republic — as one of the exponents of the Russian propaganda who needs to be monitored and countered. My second thought is that, ultimately, it comes to the quality of information and analysis. If the makers of this new unit, fighting what they regard as Russian disinformation, are up against certain perfectly justified, rational, and well-reasoned criticism of Western policies, and those of NATO in particular, then they have a big problem. In this time and age, of the mainstream media being confronted by the social media, the Internet, they will have a problem, because the unspoken assumption is that the quality of information and analysis they can offer is better than what they regard as the Russian propaganda.
As it happens, we have this counter-propaganda all the time, in the pages of The New York Times and The Washington Post, on the BBC, the CNN, and every flickering screen and every printed page all over the Western world. And yet… they are not doing a very good job. Ultimately, if we are looking at an informed and rational consumer of information, he or she will be able to make an astute judgment of who is in the right and who is actually a propagandist.
Q: Srdja, if they consider this to be so important at this particular moment, why is this unit made up of only twenty people?
ST: It could made up of only two people if they are well informed, capable of top-class analysis, and if they have strong arguments which can be used to counter what they regard as Russian disinformation. It boils down to what I mentioned earlier: the quality of information, and the quality of analysis.

Sweden: Gothenburg ‘One of Europe’s Most Segregated Cities’
One in ten school students in Gothenburg’s north-eastern suburbs sympathize with religious extremist organizations, according to a survey carried out by Swedish non-profit organization Varken Hora eller Kuvad.
Robert Hannah, a Swedish MP of the centre-right Liberals who grew up in north-eastern Gothenburg, said the study confirmed the city is divided.
“The study proves what we have known for a long time already: Gothenburg is one of the most segregated cities in Europe,” he said.
“In some of Gothenburg’s segregated neighbourhoods radical Islamists are poisoning the kids to believe that the Isis genocide against Christians and Yezidis was right and that terrorism is a good thing. You can hear religious slang in almost every school in these neighbourhoods nowadays. For example the word ‘kaffir’, which is a derogatory term Isis and others use, and people who have left the neighbourhoods to join Isis are considered heroes by some,” he added.
The survey took in responses from 1200 school students aged 12-18 in socially and economically challenged areas in Gothenburg, of which 11 percent said they felt sympathy for religious extremists, and 13 percent said they know someone with those kind of sympathies.

UK: Council Tell Homeowners They Now Have to Drag Wheelie Bins Up to a Mile to Get Them Emptied
Instead of having rubbish collected weekly from their driveways, homeowners have been told they must drag bins themselves to central collection points up to a mile away every fortnight.
Labour-run Blackburn with Darwen council insists the change is needed to save £65,000 a year in collection costs. It also claims many of the country lanes and unadopted roads in the affected area between Darwen and Bolton are too small and in too poor a condition for their new bin lorries.
But residents are furious that the ‘basic’ service has been removed and claim they are not getting value for money from their council tax. They are also angry the council voted through the measure, which was introduced earlier this month, without consulting residents.

If cyber-attacks are not enough to get the American people behind war with Russia, then the State Department has gone back to its old playbook. Following the release of a UN report which concluded the Syrian government used chemical weapons on its own people, Washington warns that countries that continue to shield the Assad regime will face consequences. The Russians disagree with the UN findings, “we believe that the proof is not there for any punitive action to be taken. It’s simply not there.”
As DW reports, the use of chlorine gas as a weapon is banned under the Chemical Weapons Convention, which Syria joined in 2013 under pressure from Russia. When it joined, a clause in the agreement allowed the UN to potentially impose sanctions should Syria disregard the convention.
The United States, Great Britain and France want the Security Council to impose sanctions on the Syrian government for breaking the rules laid down in the convention. “There should be accountability for every single person involved in any use of chemical weapons in Syria,” said Matthew Rycroft, British ambassador to the UN. Francois Delattre, French ambassador to the UN, said those responsible for the “barbaric acts” must be sanctioned.
But Russia has questioned whether the investigation’s conclusions link the use of chemical weapons to the Syrian government.

(ANSA) — Potenza, October 10 — The head of a company involved in providing accommodation to asylum seekers was arrested by police on Friday for suspected aggravated fraud of public money, sources said. The case concerns a contract for services in the the province of Potenza that started on March 1 with a value of around nine million euros. The man is under investigation along with two other people who were not arrested, sources said.
The company head allegedly defrauded the Italian State of several thousand euros by filing reports which inflated the number of migrants in the facility.

Migrants Flood Paris After Destruction of Massive ‘Jungle’ Camp
The destruction of a sprawling shanty town near the English Channel has caused the number of migrants in Paris to skyrocket this week, French officials say.

Video Shows Hundreds of Migrants Camping Out in Paris Central Reservation

College Threatens Police Response for Students Wearing ‘Offensive’ Costumes
Tufts University has sent out a letter that is sure to spook Greek life students ahead of Halloween weekend. Students involved in fraternities and sororities at the Massachusetts school are being told to not wear anything that could offend others during Halloween celebrations — or risk getting investigated by campus police and being slapped with “serious disciplinary sanctions.”

Narrated AbuSa’id al-Khudri: The people asked the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ): Can we perform ablution out of the well of Buda’ah, which is a well into which menstrual clothes, dead dogs and stinking things were thrown? He replied: Water is pure and is not defiled by anything.
Narrated AbuSa’id al-Khudri:
I heard that the people asked the Prophet of Allah (ﷺ): Water is brought for you from the well of Buda’ah. It is a well in which dead dogs, menstrual clothes and excrement of people are thrown. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) replied: Verily water is pure and is not defiled by anything.
Abu Dawud said I heard Qutaibah b. Sa’id say: I asked the person in charge of the well of Bud’ah about the depth of the well. He replied: At most the water reaches pubes. Then I asked: Where does it reach when its level goes down ? He replied: Below the private part of the body.
Abu Dawud said: I measured the breadth of the well of Buda’ah with my sheet which I stretched over it. I them measured it with the hand. It measured six cubits in breadth. I then asked the man who opened the door of garden for me and admitted me to it: Has the condition of this well changed from what it had originally been in the past ? He replied: No. I saw the color of water in this well had changed.
If the officials of Flint, Michigan had been more sharia-compliant, much water-cleanup expense could have been saved.
“the well of Buda’ah”? Reminds me of a joke that begins, “Buddha, Jesus, and Muhammad walk up to this filthy well…” I forget the punchline, but it’s probably narrated somewhere in Sahih Bukhari.

I don’t know Tufts’ history when speakers like Ann Coulter are invited to the campus. My prediction, however, is that “serious disciplinary sanctions” won’t be anywhere in the picture when leftist student thugs prevent them from speaking or physically attack them.
So if someone decides to wear a Halloween burka, how do we know if it is a costume or a real burka person?
A Swedish friend of mine says it now forbidden for native Swedes to use Christmas lights as decorations as they will offend Muslim filth.

I note that the UK government has won its court case against the no-Brexiters. So Brexit will now go ahead without further ado!
I see that Ammon Bundy and Co. have been acquitted of charges that would have seen them sent off to jail – it is a good system, the jury system of justice, and by this latest slap in the face to the feds, it is a system that is still alive and working well in America.
FBI Director Comey has made an about face on those Clinton emails. While this is welcome news for all those who want to see Hillary Clinton indicted for her abuse and misuse of public office, especially a sensitive office such as Secretary of State, I wonder what caused Comey’s about face? As he already had enough hard evidence with which to indict Clinton and chose not to and thereby perjured himself in the process, along with his office, and those he represents as well as his employer, the American taxpayer, what is it that put the heebyjeebies up him that caused him to reflect his heinous treachery?
Perhaps it was the noise of the Trump train fast approaching that got his attention?

The best theory I’ve heard so far is that Preet Singh Bharara discovered the emails while working on the Weiner sex case, and the NYPD forensics people probably found them. This put them outside of the realm that Comey could cover for, and he had no choice but to act or look like an undeniably dirty cop.
