Take a Load Off Calais

European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker and German Chancellor Angela Merkel insist that all EU member states must accept their share of the “refugees” that Mrs. Merkel so generously invited into Europe.

Bernard Cazeneuve, the French interior minister, is demanding that French localities do the same thing with the thousands of illegal migrants who have gathered near Calais and live in the “Jungle” shantytown while they attempt to force their way into the tractor trailers that carry freight from France to Britain. Mr. Cazeneuve insists that French regional presidents must do their part to relieve the load on Calais, and resettle some of those unfortunate young foreigners in their regions.

Transcript:

00:00   9,000 migrants in Calais and 3,000 in the region of Ile-de-France.
00:04   In order to end this situation, the Interior Ministry is planning
00:08   to spread those 12,000 migrants across the entire country.
00:12   “Everyone will have to accept some of them,
00:16   so the humanitarian tragedy will stop.” —Bernard Cazeneuve, Interior Minister
00:20   Each of 12 regions will have to find accommodations: a repartition in proportion to the population.
00:24   The region Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes will have to increase the number of places from 379 to 1,784;
00:28   it’s four times more than today, but for its president it’s simply unacceptable.
00:32   “In our region we won’t let it go! Concretely it means that we’ll refuse offering those places,
00:40   that we’ll support all the counties that mobilize, all the inhabitants
00:44   that mobilize, and if necessary we’ll resist to the prefects.”[unelected government officials]
00:48   The region PACA will have to increase the number of places form 226 to1,175;
00:52   it’s five times more. For Christian Estrozy, dismantling Calais [Jungle]
00:56   won’t solve anything: —“They are trying to transform
01:00   the Calais Jungle into additions of mini-jungles
01:04   over the regions and throughout French territory.” The region Nouvelle Aquitaine will have to increase
01:07   the number of places from 495 to 1,484: three times more,
01:13   but the socialist president of the region is ready to do it. —“France has to welcome
01:20   in a decent way, for the remaining time, during
01:24   the period of war and violence in their countries,
01:28   all those men and women. Otherwise, somehow,
01:33   we don’t belong to the human species.”
01:37   The prefects will apply “Plan Cazeneuve” between now and the end of the year,
01:41   without the local elected officials having their say.

  1. Brilliant title for this piece – well done!

This seems like good news, in that there is no mention of exporting these people to the UK. Normally the French government can’t talk about the camp at Calais without brandishing it like a weapon and threatening to further enrich UK culture. It causes huge problems for holidaymakers and lorry drivers passing through, but even that is preferable to the alternative.

I don’t want to be too optimistic, though – I’ll believe it when I see it…

    • She didn’t regret the policy… she regretted not planning enough for it.
But, either way, politicians lie, then lie some more.

  2. Such arrogance and disregard for the wishes of the electorate can only help Le Pen and Front Nationale. One cannot help but be amazed at the stupidity of these officials; it even surpasses the stupidity of American politicians.

Maybe Mr Cazeneuve is secretly working for Front Nationale? That has to be the explanation; no one is that dumb!

  3. ** “Everyone will have to accept some of them, so the humanitarian tragedy will stop.” **

The humanitarian tragedy (HUMTRAD) is the treason and cowardice of French officials.

      • Actually, France is a remarkably successful state in many ways: despite its very different political and economic models compared with, say, the US, it has remained in the top half-dozen economies for many years.

  4. Mr. Estrozy is right. Creating hundreds of junglets does not solve the problem of the one big jungle.

European officials are masters of misdirection and obtuseness.

“We must deal with the flood of migrants humanely.” The studiously unaddressed question? “When did it become Europe’s moral or legal duty to accept primitive, third-world parasites by the millions and why is this question forever obscured by a cloud of utter [rude evocative noun]?”

In the case of Calais, the question is, “Why are these swine even there and allowed to terrorize even one person?”

    • Hear, hear! Somehow, the success of our race (yes, she said the race word!!!), our culture and efforts, means that we must support the countless billions who are unable to improve their own environment. Well, eventually, we will all be third world, if this continues.

  5. “Unfortunate young foreigners….”
After all these years, millions of Europeans still just don’t get it.

Useless rabble, the refuse of the middle east and north Africa, as one African politician was heard to say.

    • That is exactly how the Congolese ambassador to the UN in Geneva described the migrants back in 2011. He could not fathom why the Europeans were taking them.

  6. France is already on the edge of plenty of civil wars in and around the 750 no-go zones of Islamic domination the country has. Cazeneuve’s displacements will only increase that number, widen those sensible urban areas, and make all the existing problems there only worse. Moreover France’s Interior Minister is mopping the floor without turning off the faucet. The border with Italy is just a leaky seave, letting almost everybody through. The gendarmerie showes up from time to time to intercept some “refugee” and drop him back over the border. When national and international media is focussing on Ventimiglia-refugee camp, when the Africans are pressing to cross the frontier, then the gendarmerie in all guns blazing, and Manuel Valls are ready to defend on the other side, in Menton, ” la patrie “. You know, public opinion in France is very sensitive too…

  7. Reminds me of “The Camp of the Saints” by Jean Raspail. A book I did not have the stomache to read. But it’s there, waiting for me when I grow a strong enough stomache, which is questionable.

  8. Socialist et cocu! Ben, c’est la meme chose! Et, comme, d’habitude, ils n’ont pas hontes. Voire fiers.

    [Machine translation:

“Socialist and cuckold! Well, it’s the same thing! And as, usually, they have not shame. Even proud.”

This is an English-language blog. In future, please use English in your comments.]

  9. I’d like to strap some of these socialist leaders to the hood of my landrover and and leave them hog-tied for the night in the Calis Jungle, but never mind, by 2030 possibly all of France will become a Calais Jungle shantytown.

  10. I cannot see what the fuss is all about. Merkel invited them, Merkel should have them. Lets see how long she lasts before bankrupt germay tries to assassinate her.
Alternatively, let Foreign Legion earn its keep..
