Gates of Vienna News Feed 9/2/2016

In the Parisian suburb of Vincennes, a man attacked a nurse with a knife and then stabbed a policewoman in the neck before being shot dead by other police officers. The motive for the heinous crime is not known, and there is no information on whether the attacker was mentally ill, bullied in school, or radicalized online. The only thing we know for certain is that the incident had nothing to do with Islam.

In other news, Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto says that Donald Trump’s ideas on immigration are a “threat to the future of Mexico”.

Jackson Hole’s Gangsters and Banksters: What Are They Planning?

Which is worse, a gangster or a bankster, mob kingpin Al Capone or banking kingpin Paul Warburg? The Sinaloa Drug Cartel or the U.S. Federal Reserve System? The Italian Mafia or Goldman Sachs? These are not tongue-in-cheek queries; they are real, serious questions that go directly to the corruption at the heart of our financial system. And they are brought to mind by the recently concluded gathering of global banksters in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, at an annual confabulation convened by the Federal Reserve (the Fed).

Confirmed: The Arch of Triumph is Going Up in New York City on September 19th

Do you remember all of the buzz about the arch from the Temple of Baal that was supposed to go up in Times Square back in April? Well, that project was ultimately canceled, but now it has been resurrected in a new form. In April a reproduction of a different arch, the Arch of Triumph, was erected in Trafalgar Square in London, and now another reproduction of that famous arch will be going up in New York City on September 19th. This particular arch is not the same one that once stood directly in front of the Temple of Baal in Syria. Rather, the Arch of Triumph was constructed at a later date by the Romans, and it served to link the main street of the Colonnade with the Temple. So there is still definitely a connection with the Temple of Baal, but it is not as direct as had originally been envisioned.

The organization behind this effort is the Institute for Digital Archaeology. They are extremely excited to be bringing this project to New York next month as you can see from this excerpt which comes from their official website…

I want to stress that this is not the same arch that once stood directly in front of the Temple of Baal in Palmyra. But according to Wikipedia it did connect the Temple of Baal with “ the main street of the Colonnade” …

The Romans constructed this arch after a victory over Parthia, and in his extraordinary book on the Parthians Stephen M. Collins has shown that the Parthian Empire was largely made up of people that came from the northern tribes of Israel. So the original purpose of this arch was to celebrate victory over Israel.

Is that really something that we want to put up in New York?

Free Speech Social Network Gab Growing as Twitter, Facebook Censor Users

“The response to Gab from around the world has been nothing short of incredible,” Gab CEO Andrew Torba told Breitbart Tech.

“This is a movement, and something that the community is driving forward,” he explained. “Folks are deleting their Twitter and Facebook accounts, or pledging to do so right after the election. They are waking up to the lies and censorship of Big Social. We will continue to build a product built by the people, for the people. We will continue to put people first and promote free speech for all.”

Numerous media professionals and public figures have joined Gab since its conception two weeks ago, and the social network currently boasts such users as InfoWars’ Paul Joseph Watson and Joe Biggs, Rebel Media’s Lauren Southern, Dave Rubin, Old Holborn, YouTube star CopperCab, and a magnitude of Breitbart Tech contributors.

“If I had to pick a single event that pushed me over the edge to take action, I would have to say it was the suppression of conservative sources and stories by the incredibly biased Facebook Trending Topics team,” said Gab CEO Andrew Torba in an interview with Breitbart Tech last week.

Hillary’s World

by Srdja Trifkovic

Hillary Clinton’s speech at the American Legion National Convention on August 31 was an exultant restatement of the two-decades-old doctrine of “benevolent global hegemony” justified by the dogma of American exceptionalism. She provided the blueprint for never-ending wars and crises wholly unrelated to any rational understanding of this country’s national interest.

“The United States is an exceptional nation,” she said. “I believe we are still Lincoln’s last, best hope of Earth . . . And part of what makes America an exceptional nation, is that we are also an indispensable nation. In fact, we are the indispensable nation. People all over the world look to us and follow our lead.” She asserted that “we recognize America’s unique and unparalleled ability to be a force for peace and progress, a champion for freedom and opportunity” and that “our power comes with a responsibility to lead, humbly, thoughtfully, and with a fierce commitment to our values”:…

Caroline Glick: Obama’s Greatest Achievement

The time for complaining about President Barack Obama’s nuclear deal with Iran has passed. The time has come to overcome the damage enormous damage his signature foreign policy accomplishment has caused.

To understand why this is the case, it is important to understand the breadth and depth of Obama’s failure.

On August 4, during the course of a press conference, Obama gave his interim assessment of his nuclear agreement with Iran.

“It worked,” he insisted…

Blast Kills 10 as Philippine President Visits Hometown

An explosion at a market in the home city of Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte killed at least 10 people on Friday and wounded dozens more, officials said, but the cause of the blast was not immediately clear.

Duterte was in Davao on Friday, but was safe and at a police station after the explosion, his son Paolo Duterte, who is vice mayor of the city, told Reuters.

The incident took place at a street market outside the high-end Marco Polo hotel in Davao, in the southern Philippines, a military spokesman told reporters by phone. A police official said at least 30 people had been taken to hospital.

Presidential spokesman Ernesto Abella, speaking to CNN Philippines, described the blast as an “unspecified explosion”.

“There is nothing definite about it but it has resulted in the death of 10 persons, at least 10 persons, and injury of about 60,” Abella said.

Duterte’s son Paolo told Reuters his father was far from the location of the blast when the explosion took place. Duterte had earlier given a televised news conference in the city.

Five men and five women were killed, Paolo Duterte said…

Alan Kurdi’s Father in Plea for Migrants a Year After Tragedy

The father of Alan Kurdi, the three-year-old boy who drowned a year ago as his family fled Syria, has urged Europe to keep its doors open to migrants.

Abdullah Kurdi told the BBC he still hoped that world leaders could stop the war in Syria.

Haunting images of Alan’s body lying on a Turkish beach a year ago focused world attention on the refugee crisis.

Alan’s brother Galib and mother Rihan also drowned when their boat sank en route to the Greek island of Kos.

Abdullah Kurdi survived and now lives in northern Iraq.

Hungarian Anti-Migrant Campaign Picks Up Speed Ahead of Vote

BUDAPEST, Hungary — A month ahead of Hungary’s referendum on European Union migrant quotas, the government’s relentless anti-migrant campaign has become inescapable and shows no sign of letting up.

Anti-migrant messages cover the country on billboards and in ads on state television as Prime Minister Viktor Orban and his Fidesz party seek popular support for their opposition to the quotas, which would distribute migrants between the EU’s member states. And soon pamphlets about the referendum will be delivered by mail to all voters.

The billboards and TV ads tell Hungarians things like “Did you know? Since the start of the immigration crisis, over 300 people in Europe died in terror attacks” or “Did you know? Just from Libya, nearly a million immigrants want to come to Europe.”

Mexican President Calls Trump’s Ideas ‘A Threat to the Future of Mexico’

Reversing a more diplomatic tone he set during a joint appearance with Donald Trump in the Mexican capital, President Enrique Peña Nieto called the Republican presidential candidate’s ideas a “threat to the future of Mexico.”

Peña Nieto’s hostile words came Wednesday night, hours after he met privately with Trump and shortly after the real estate mogul delivered an incendiary speech in Phoenix in which he repeatedly portrayed immigrants in the U.S. as dangerous criminals and vowed to force Mexico to pay for construction of a border wall.

Peña Nieto said Trump’s proposal to end free trade agreements and deport millions of immigrants are a danger to Mexico. “Imagine what that represents, and tell me it is not a risk to Mexico,” he said.

Latest Intel, Amd Chips Will Only Run Windows 10 … and Linux, Bsd, Os X

The short answer is Intel’s Kaby Lake aka its seventh-generation Core i3, i5 and i7 processors, and AMD’s Zen-based chips, are not locked down to Windows 10: they’ll boot Linux, the BSDs, Chrome OS, home-brew kernels, OS X, whatever software supports them.

So if you want to use Linux or some other non-Windows OS on your new CPUs, you’ll be fine. It’s OK, we checked.

Sweet. What about Windows 7? Or Windows 8.1? Or any Windows pre-10?

Yeah… nah. Shad Larsen, Microsoft’s director of Windows business planning, blogged earlier this month:

Future silicon platforms including Intel’s upcoming 7th Gen Intel Core (Kaby Lake) processor family and AMD’s 7th generation processors (e.g. Bristol Ridge) will only be supported on Windows 10, and all future silicon releases will require the latest release of Windows 10.

It’s easy to misread that, which I suspect was intended, but Microsoft is just talking about Windows here. If you have a computer powered by a seventh-gen Intel chip or an AMD Zen CPU and you want to use Windows, Windows 10 is your only supported option.

  1. It would seem that the President of Mexico believes that his country’s future depends on continued illegals coming to the US in order to send money home. At least the Mexicans are typically Christian and are generally willing to work, but what a sad admission for a leader to make.

    • The future of Mexico lies north of its border . . . or with a de facto shift of that border northwards. Invaders do not need guns. Adios Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, California . . . adios USA.

      • Include Neveda and several others. As far as the Mexicans are concerned they are the real owners of the western USA and we are just passing through. Silly I know – but true. Hopefully “they” won’t go Islam to get there. The west is burning it’s freedoms at the stake for God only knows why. However not alone.

        • Mlp, you have that right. If anyone doesn’t understand this they should look up ‘La Raza Aztlan’. It’s sort of a Mexican Black Lives Matte, but not as violent or active, it’s been around for years and years. Actually, and more accurately, I think they see it as a Reconquista Mexico. Some Mexicans seem to think that wherever the Spanish once trod should rightfully be theirs, which IS a bit of an Islamic concept.

As a native Californian and current Angelino, I am much less concerned about Mexicans than I am Muslims. To the extent that I want to learn to speak Spanish very much, and Arabic not at all.

  2. Soon they’ll be differentiating between ‘moderate’ mentally ill knife-Desperados and ‘radical’ and ‘fundamentalist’ knife-Desperados.

Eventually they’ll conclude that the answer must be to ban all knives. Surely IKEA will get the same bad media publicity as the NRA.

  3. Maybe the Mexican President needs to consider getting his house in order first. They have a world reputation as a narco-state, with drug money buying favour with Police and politicians. Thousands are murdered every year by the trafficers. If Mexico doesn’t sort this out “they aren’t going to have a country” (as Trump might say). And their best and most talented people will probably look to emigrate to the US.

    • Baucent: Muslims (African) coming in (courtesy of Obama) from south of the border along with the gang ms-13, a violent gang of drug dealers and other crimes. They are in this country and will be coming in more so.
