Gates of Vienna News Feed 8/4/2016

According to the latest reports, the youngster who went on a stabbing spree in London yesterday is a “Norwegian”. Mainstream media outlets breathed a collective sigh of relief at being able to put that in their headlines. It’s only when you read down a ways that you discover the murderous youth was “of Somali origin”. However, since it has emerged that he is mentally ill, we know that his actions had nothing to do with Islam. He’s just a Norwegian loony, like Anders Behring Breivik. Except, of course, that we can’t figure out a motive for his attack — that will probably take months. He’s just a Viking berserker with an unusually dark suntan.

In other news, according to the Archbishop of Rouen, the last words of the priest who was halal-slaughtered in the church in Normandy were: “Be gone, Satan!” Surely he couldn’t possibly have been directing such hateful words at the misguided Algerian youth with the knife. Maybe he was talking to one of the nuns.

Bank of England Cuts Rates, Boost QE in Post-Brexit Move

The Bank of England cut interest rates for the first time in seven years on Thursday, as economic reports following the Brexit vote signaled a sharp downturn for the U.K.

The BOE reduced rates by a quarter-point to 0.25%, as expected. But the central bank also revived government bond buys — lifting its cap by 60 billion pounds to 435 billion pounds ($570 billion) — and will start buying 10 billion pounds worth of corporate bonds. And it said most policymakers expected a further rate cut to near zero by year-end.

Bubba Pockets Millions From Sharia Law Network

Former President Bill Clinton collected $5.6 million in fees from GEMS Education, a Dubai-based company that teaches Sharia Law through its network of more than 100 schools in the Middle East, Asia and Africa, according to a Daily Caller News Foundation investigation.

The company’s finances strictly adhere to “Sharia Finance,” which includes giving “zakat,” a religious tax of which one-eighth of the proceeds is dedicated to funding Islamic jihad.

The company also contributed millions of dollars to the Clinton Foundation.

The former president served as honorary chairman for GEMS Education from 2011 to 2014, according to federal tax returns he filed with his wife, 2016 Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.

His biggest paycheck from the closely-held company — which is incorporated in the Cayman Islands — was in 2014 when he pocketed $2.1 million. It is unclear if Bill received income from the Middle Eastern firm in 2015, since Hillary has not yet released her tax return for that year.

Sharia law is the Islamic religious legal system that many in the West see as intolerant of human rights and other religions, as well as violating the rights of women and gays. Sharia law is considered by Muslims to be superior to all secular authorities. Islamic jihadis regularly call for the imposition of Sharia law and want to impose it on the West.

Man Shot by State Police in 911 Mix-Up: What We Know and Don’t Know

Here’s what we know and don’t know about the case of an Upper Deerfield Township man shot by state police after troopers were sent to the wrong house to investigate a 911 hang-up call.

How did police end up at the wrong house?

Around 11:30 p.m. Friday police dispatchers in Cumnerland County received a 911 call, but the caller hung up. An attempt was made to trace the call so police could be sent to the location where the call originated and check on the well-being of the caller.

Gerald Sykes, seen in this undated photo, was shot and wounded by state police at his Upper Deerfield Township home late Friday night, authorities say. (Submitted Photo)

The trace came back to the home of Gerald and Margot Sykes in the 300 block of Centerton Road, authorities said. That was not, however, the location from where the call was made, but two uniformed state troopers from the Bridgeton Station were sent to that address not knowing it was the wrong one.

Officials have not yet explained how the mixup in addresses happened, if this is something that has happened before or if the correct address for the 911 hang-up call was located and police dispatched to that location.

How could the confusion have resulted in gunfire?

While it is not mentioned in the Attorney General’s Office’s initial report, the troopers likely did not use lights or sirens when responding to the Sykes’ home, according to police protocol.

“Lights and sirens are not required at time of arrival in response to many types of calls because that could work against the safety and effectiveness of police officers responding to an unknown situation,” said New Jersey State Police Captain Stephen Jones.

Trump Reflects White Male Fragility

by Charles M. Blow

Trump is a mirror. He is a reflection of — indeed a revealing of — the ugliness that you harbor, only it is possible that you may have gone your life expressing it in ways that were more coded and politic. Trump is an unfiltered primal scream of the fragility and fear consuming white male America.

Wearing ‘Don’t Tread on Me’ Insignia Could be Punishable Racial Harassment

And while the Virginia Employment Letter proposal would at least be a viewpoint-neutral restriction (though a very broad one), employers are in practice more likely to come down on speech that expresses viewpoints that might trigger harassment claims — such as calls to elect candidates who want to build a wall on the Mexican border, or limit immigration from Muslim countries — than on speech that expresses contrary viewpoints. Workplace harassment law has become a content-based, viewpoint-based speech restriction, including on core political speech. A pretty serious First Amendment problem, I think, for reasons I discuss in more detail here.

Danish Muslim Graveyard Offers to Bury French Terrorist

Denmark’s Islamic burial authority has offered to bury one of the French terrorists behind last month’s church attack, triggering condemnation from Muslims and non-Muslims alike.

Kasem Said Ahmad, deputy chairman of the Danish Islamic Burial Foundation, offered to bury Adel Kermiche, one of two Islamic extremists who slit the throat Jacques Hamel,an 85-year-old Catholic priest, in an attack on a church in Normandy on July 26.

“If we got a request from the family to bury him, then we would do it, we would not say no,” Ahmad told Jyllands-Posten.

“It is shameful and un-Islamic that the French imams are refusing to bury a Muslim. One should not look at the past of the dead. It is a human right to be buried, no matter what you have done.”

France: Martyred Priest’s Last Words to Jihadists: ‘Be Gone, Satan!’

Just before having his throat slit by two Islamic terrorists in northern France last week, Father Jacques Hamel told one of his assailants, “Be gone, Satan!”, according to the priest’s bishop.

In his homily at the martyred priest’s funeral Mass on Tuesday, Rouen’s Archbishop Dominique Lebrun gave details of the last moments of the priest’s life as he was slaughtered for his Christian faith.

“Evil is a mystery that reaches summits of horror beyond what is human,” the Archbishop said. “Is that not what you meant, Jacques, by your last words? Falling to the ground after the first stab, you try to push away your attacker with your feet saying, ‘Go away Satan!’“

The archbishop said that the priest then repeated a second time: “Be Gone, Satan!”

During the same homily, with members of the Muslim community present, Archbishop Lebrun explicitly addressed those who may be tempted by jihad.

“You who are tormented by diabolical violence, you who are drawn to kill by a demonic, murderous madness, pray to God to free you from the devil’s grip,” he said. “We pray for you, we pray to Jesus who healed all those who were under the power of evil.”

Jailed Jihadist Reveals How ISIS Organizes Terror in Germany

An extensive report by the New York Times reveals new details about the structure and tactics used by Isis in Europe, which may shed light on recent attacks in Germany which have been linked to the group.

A German who went to Syria to join Isis has told of how he was asked to return to Europe and carry out attacks there instead.

Speaking to the New York Times, Harry Sarfo, who fled back to Germany from Syria last year after becoming horrified by the group’s brutality, explained that Isis attacks in Europe were co-ordinated by its intelligence unit, Emni, run by a Syrian named Abu Muhammad al-Adnani.

One Dead, Five Injured in Central London Knife Attack

A woman has died and five other people were injured in a knife attack in Russell Square, central London.

Police were called at 22:33 BST on Wednesday to reports of a man injuring people with a knife.

One of the victims, a woman in her 60s, was treated at the scene but was pronounced dead a short time later.

A 19-year-old man was arrested at 22:39 after a Taser was discharged by an officer. The Met said mental health was a “significant factor” in the events.

Two other women and three men received various injuries in the attack, Scotland Yard confirmed later.

The Met’s assistant commissioner for specialist operations, Mark Rowley, said the force’s homicide command was leading the investigation into the attack, with support from the counter-terrorism unit.

He went on: “Of course at this stage we should keep an open mind regarding motive and consequently terrorism as a motivation remains… one line of inquiry for us to explore.”…

Rome Boosts Security Amid Heightened Terror Threat

Security has been upped at the Colosseum and the Vatican as part of new anti-terrorism measures, and amid persistent threats from the Isis extremist group.

Rome police chief Nicolò D’Angelo said there would be the highest level of security around the Colosseum, with police positioned at public entrance points, as well as the nearby Via del Corso, Rome’s main shopping thoroughfare.

There will also be maximum security in the area surrounding St Peter’s, including the Vatican Museums, as well as at various churches and places of worship within the centre and in Rome’s outskirts.

Security will also be tightened at outdoor events such as concerts and at shopping centres and ports.

The announcement came as another video, purporting to be from Isis jihadists and threatening again “to conquer Rome”, alongside images of Piazza Navona, was released, Il Messaggero reported. There have been several similar videos over the past couple of years.

UK: Russell Square Stabbings — Teen Arrested as Woman Stabbed to Death and Five Injured

The 19-year-old Norwegian, of Somali origin, was Tasered by police outside the Imperial Hotel, in Southampton Row.

He was initially in hospital under armed guard but was this morning moved to a police station and arrested on suspicion of murder, police confirmed.

Norway’s foreign ministry said the teen emigrated from the Scandanavian country to Britain in 2002 when he was five years old.

The American woman, in her 60s, was treated at the scene but she died a short time later.

Five people — two women and three men — were taken to hospital for their injuries.

None of their injuries are life-threatening, police said.

They are British, Israeli and Australian citizens.

Matthew Barzun, US Ambassador to the UK, tweeted: “Heartbreaking news that a US citizen was killed in #RussellSquare attack.

“My prayers are with all the victims and their loved ones.”

Officers said at 8.30am on Thursday two people remained in hospital, while the other three were discharged.

Police originally said terrorism could not be ruled out but later said they had “not found any evidence of radicalisation or anything that would suggest the man in our custody was motivated by terrorism.”

They called the incident a “random attack” with mental health issues at the heart of it.

Assistant Commissioner Mark Rowley, said: “Whilst the investigation is not yet complete — all of the work that we have done so far, increasingly points to this tragic incident as having been triggered by mental health issues.

“At this time we believe this was a spontaneous attack and the victims were selected at random.”

He revealed police had searched an address in north London and will search another in south London later on.

British Donations to Christian Charity World Vision Were ‘Used to Build a Hamas Military Base in Gaza’

Millions of pounds donated to the Christian charity World Vision were secretly diverted to the Islamist group Hamas, including £60,000 from the UK that went to building a base for militants, Israel said Thursday.

Israeli investigators arrested an alleged Hamas operative who they said infiltrated the charity and rose to become its director in Gaza only to use his position to funnel £5.3 million a year to the militant group.

Around 60 per cent of the funds meant to ease suffering in the Gaza Strip were instead diverted to paying Hamas salaries and readying the group for war with Israel, according to the Shin Bet, the Israeli equivalent of MI5.

Charity Funds Diverted to Arm Hamas Terrorists

One of the world’s largest humanitarian charities has been duped for years into funding the Hamas terror organization, the Shin Bet security agency revealed on Thursday.

The World Vision group, a multi-billion dollar Christian charity with more than 45,000 employees, unknowingly funded the Hamas terror group in Gaza for roughly a decade after a member of Hamas, Muhammad Halabi, infiltrated World Vision in 2005.

According to the Shin Bet’s report Thursday, Halabi funneled millions of dollars intended for humanitarian use towards the terrorist group.

By 2010, Halabi had reached a senior position within World Vision, leading its Gaza branch, enabling him to divert more than $7 million annually from civilian needs to Hamas coffers.

In a joint operation of the Shin Bet, the IDF, and Israeli police, Halabi was apprehended for his work with the terror organization.

During interrogation, Halabi admitted he had worked within World Vision on behalf of Hamas’ military wing, and that he channeled funds and other resources towards the terror group.[…]

  1. I still wonder if the archbishop died believing that Islam is the religion of peace and the terrorist who killed him was just Satan possessed and misunderstanding the peaceful teachings of Islam.

I wonder if in his last moments did he wonder if perhaps Islam not only offers insufficient protection from demonic possession but if maybe it just might cause such satanic possession.

I guess we will never know.

  2. “During the same homily, with members of the Muslim community present, Archbishop Lebrun explicitly addressed those who may be tempted by jihad.”

The ‘members of the Muslim community present’ were in fact of the Ahmadi sect who reject much Islamic teaching and are regarded as “wajib ul qatl” (required to be killed) by mainstream Muslims. One in the UK was recently murdered by a mainstream Muslim for wishing his shop’s customers a Happy Easter.

  3. RUSSELL SQUARE: MUSLIM-ON-INFIDEL ATTACK

The killer, a schoolmate says, is “a devout muslim” who takes his religion seriously.
He did not conduct his stabbing spree in his own neighbourhood.
He travelled to Russell Square, a prestigious area likely to contain non-muslims.
The victims are all white and all “kuffar” – non-muslim.
The woman killed was not wearing a hijab.

Islamic State has commanded jihadis in Europe to carry out their own knife attacks.
Islam’s source texts, part of Islamic law, command violence to non-muslims:
“Kill them wherever you find them”, Koran 2:191,
“Go after them in every stratagem of war”, Koran 9:5.

Yet the police whitewash this attack as “random”, “spontaneous”, “senseless”.
This is inconsistent with the evidence.
They swiftly emphasise suspected “mental problems”. This is a distraction.
There was considerable terror brought on, yet they say this is not a terror attack.
In spite of what they claim, police are now increasing armed patrols. For a mental case?

This attack, mental issues or not, is consistent with Islam’s ordinary basic teachings.

    • Michael, my lady and I like to meet at Russell Square (she lives in North London, I just south of the centre); as an academic, it’s familiar territory for her, near London University and other places where she’s worked. So maybe we had a lucky escape.

She’s rather left of my political position (yes, GoVers, this is possible!), but a democrat, and a very decent and caring person. I’m working on her; she’s accepted the malignity of Islam, but we remain divided over Israel/”Palestine”.

It’s an uphill battle, and I’m in an advantageous position, but I hope this may encourage others. There can be penalties; my sister and I barely speak since falling out over Islam, and specifically the grooming gangs.

  4. Oh wait, some “person” stabbed a bunch of people and he’s, perhaps, ill. Ya think? Brilliant. Maybe he’s infected by a demon because he prayed to evil. Of course, in order to understand this concept would require that one read The Book, understand The Book, and heed the Holy Bible.

May the LORD bless and prosper the owner of this website. Put a hedge of protection around it and him. Fill all those who come with the knowledge and understanding of your natural law, oh God, through Jesus.

  5. Well it looks like Western European stinking thinking governments have given carte blanche to serpents of the insane Muslim ideology of kill for the Moon Devil.

  6. Between the Ebionite and Islam story and this one

I have no idea how boundless the things I don’t know are. I think someone said that makes be ready to learn. Anyway, any opinions on how the details of the story in the link could have an impact on policies in Europe today? I don’t know enough to see that there could be a relationship.

    • When I’m uncertain of the bona fides of an essay, I look around the website. That one seems to be the usual leftie biases, sad to say. And the comments on that essay are unfortunate at best.

The information about what the West did to the German-speaking population of Eastern Europe is fairly well-known. How massive the “relocations” were aren’t. I see those decisions as having been made in the fog of war. Just because “peace” is declared doesn’t mean the internecine revenge can stop on a dime. Those forcible resettlements of Germans were cruel but I think of them as part of the fog of war – perhaps the tail end of that fog? [BTW, many American military POWs in Berlin were given away to the Russians and sent to the gulag. It was an American/British decision, iirc]

I sometimes think Europe will never be allowed enough time to heal; one crisis after another has prevented the possibility of a genuine convalescence. The distraction of the evils of Islam being forced on the indigenous populations across the continent is an incalculable loss of productivity and innovation. Already weakened by lashings of political correctness, Europeans haven’t the stamina to tolerate much more of this. It looks to become one huge “Andalusia” by the time those feckless leaders like Hollande have finished selling off their people.

  7. You need to remember that, due to a printing error, many dictionaries were printed with the word “Gullible” missing. They sold in their thousands.

  8. I just read in a Breitbart report that the perp was – according to a neighbour who know him well – completely sane! The neighbour seemed to be reliable – more so than the British police investigators, I must say!

    • He’d also been researching the Qu’ran and the life of Mohammed, and expressed admiration for a terrorist.
