Gates of Vienna News Feed 8/18/2016

France has closed its border crossing with Italy at Ventimiglia, leaving thousands of migrants stranded, without a way to continue their journey north. Many of those migrants have devised the strategy of crossing the Alps via foot trails in an attempt to get into France through less secure border crossings.

In other news, a 15-year-old “Dutch” girl in Maastricht was convicted and sentenced to eight months in juvenile detention for attempting to travel to Syria and join the Islamic State.

Spain’s Public Debt Hits Highest Level Since 1909

Spain’s public debt rose in June by €18.55 billion, reaching a total of €1.11 trillion, the highest figure ever in absolute terms, according to figures published on Wednesday. As a percentage of GDP, the ratio of the country’s debt comes in at 100.9%, a record figure. Such a figure has not been seen since 1909, when, according to records, debt levels reached 102% of GDP, El Pais reported.

America to Hand Off Internet in Under Two Months

Move means Internet Assigned Numbers Authority will move from U.S. control to Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers based in Los Angeles…

The Department of Commerce is set to hand off the final vestiges of American control over the Internet to international authorities in less than two months, officials have confirmed.

The department will finalize the transition effective Oct. 1, Assistant Secretary Lawrence Strickling wrote on Tuesday, barring what he called “any significant impediment.”

The move means the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority, which is responsible for interpreting numerical addresses on the Web to a readable language, will move from U.S. control to the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, a multistakeholder body based in Los Angeles that includes countries such as China and Russia.

Critics of the move, most prominently Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz, have pointed out the agency could be used by totalitarian governments to shut down the Web around the globe, either in whole or in part.

Bias Alert: Media That Ripped Bush on Katrina Ignores Obama on La. Flooding

President George W. Bush was torn to shreds in 2005 by mainstream media commentators for his initial response to Hurricane Katrina — yet President Obama’s detached response to the recent Louisiana floods has been met with resounding silence from those same outlets.

“George Bush doesn’t care about black people” was the shocking charge by singer Kanye West about President Bush’s response to Katrina. West’s was a particularly blunt assessment, but echoed a growing narrative pushed by mainstream media outlets that Bush’s response was out of touch, inept and most of all, he didn’t care about people on the ground.

Can Our 2016 Election be Rigged? You Bet

Donald Trump has said publicly that he fears the next election will be rigged. Based both on technical capability and recent history, Trump’s concerns are not unfounded.

A recent study by Stanford University proved that Hillary Clinton’s campaign rigged the system to steal the nomination from Bernie Sanders.

What was done to Bernie Sanders in Wisconsin is stunning.

Why would the Clintons not cheat again?

The issue here is both voter fraud, which is limited but does happen, and election theft through the manipulation of the computerized voting machines, particularly the DIEBOLD/PES voting machines in wide usage in most states.

POLITICO profiled a Princeton professor — who has demonstrated how the electronic voting machines that are most widely used can be hacked in five minutes or less! Robert Fitrakis Professor of Political Science in the Social and Behavioral Sciences Department at Columbus State Community College has written a must-read book on the strip and flip technique sued to rig these machines. Professor Fitrakis is a Green Party activist.

A Computer hacker showed CBS how to vote multiple times using a simple $15.00 electronic device.

De-Nationalize and Globalize at the Expense of Working Families in America

Our country is a sick patient who is being experimented upon by transnational groups that are intravenously administering “transfusion” therapies that are not in the best interest of the patient. It is an experiment that is supposed to prepare the patient for integration into the global master plan.

These transfusions seem to be quite toxic to the sick patient, especially when the treatment is administered against the will of the people. Once the patient is infused with so much globalism, the arteries are left wide open and the patient is likely to die, unable to defend himself from the onslaught of foreign body invasions. At such a point, nationalism will disappear, sovereignty will be gone, and the strange idea of global citizenship will become mandatory.

Alienating people from their national roots, from their identity, culture, language, and history, will certainly endanger their safety and survival. This transfusion of globalism is likely to change the patient from a solid nationalist grounded in history into a Frankenstein-ish metamorphosis that will remove the patient’s spine.

The fundamental transformation around the globe is not going to leave any country unscathed or unaffected. The master plan is composed of many treaties, public-private partnerships, committees, organizations, and other foundations for the “public good.” Unfortunately, the good public had no input into its own plans, and was never invited to the planning table.

Here are some developments that have already occurred, fully advanced and propagandized by the mainstream media:…

If Congress has not read the 2,700-page Affordable Care Act before passing it in secret, in the dead of night, they certainly will not read this monstrous 6,000-page TPP proposed trade bill. Immediately, Bernie Sanders office wrote that the bill was “worse than I thought.”

“This trade deal would make it easier for corporations to shut down more factories in the U.S. and ship more jobs to Vietnam and Malaysia where workers are paid pennies an hour. The TPP is a continuation of our disastrous trade policies that have devastated manufacturing cities and towns all over this country from Newton, Iowa, to Cleveland, Ohio. We need to rebuild the disappearing middle class, not tear it down.”

“The TPP would allow foreign corporations to sue federal, state and local governments in an international tribunal for passing an increase in the minimum wage or any other law that could hurt expected future profits.

“The agreement would threaten American laws that protect the safety of the drugs we take, the seafood we feed our families and the toys our kids play with every day. “At a time when prescription drug prices are skyrocketing, the TPP would make a bad situation even worse by granting new monopoly rights to big pharmaceutical companies to deny access to lower cost generic drugs to millions of people.

“Outrageously, the proposed agreement includes violators of international human rights, like Brunei, where gays and single mothers can be stoned to death and Malaysia where tens of thousands of immigrant workers in the electronics industry are working as modern day slaves.”

I found myself agreeing with the socialist Bernie Sanders that a trade deal should benefit our country, our working families, not CEOs of multi-national corporations looking for cheap labor, low corporate taxation, and no burdensome rules and regulations.

According to A. J. Cameron, “free trade is euphemism for moving jobs out of the U.S. with the intention of destroying the U.S. economy, in order to bring us into the One World Government fold. NAFTA and GATT were just warm-ups for TPP.” The concept of free trade is just a ruse to facilitate the redistribution of jobs to other countries. The U.S. loses because “free trade stifles employment and wage growth,” forcing more Americans to depend on government for daily subsistence.

Cameron believes that “the corporate tax rate is artificially high to provide cover for globalists to offshore operations and jobs. They have created a problem and designed a solution that only profits them.”

Executive Orders: Attempting to Out Gun Americans

From Hillary Clinton deliberately and blatantly lying about running guns to Syria to Barack Hussein Obama running guns to Mexican drug lords through “Fast and Furious,” both having be found aiding and abetting the enemies of America (which is nothing short of treason). You would think that the American people would be well aware of the pill that is in the jam when it comes to this criminal administration’s lawless executive orders (Psalm 12:8).

Furthermore, we now find that there are more government bureaucrats with guns than U.S. Marines, as well as government now targeting gunsmiths with enormous fees in latest gun prohibition measure.

Barack Hussein Obama, along with his incompetent outlaws, has set his sights on law-abiding gun owners in an attempt to “infringe” upon rights (Amendment 2 Bill of Rights) during his last year of his incumbency. He is doing this with permission from the American people in violation of the law. [YouTube Video]

As a matter of fact, he wants to put forward more unconstitutional executive orders to accomplish this. How does that work? Sway the public opinion by playing the emotions to policy rather than principles to the law (Ephesians 4:14). [YouTube Video]

Forget Milwaukee: Cedar Rapids Had Much Better Black Mob Violence and Denial

You can have Milwaukee.

For the best example of black mob violence and media denial over the last few days, I’ll take Cedar Rapids.

People outside of Milwaukee may be a bit surprised that last week hundreds of black people burned down businesses, threw bricks at cops, attacked white people, and created an enormous amount of mayhem. All because police killed a member of that city’s black criminal elite after he pointed a stolen gun at them.

Grade School Kids to be Given ‘Social and Emotional Mindset Assessments’

The National Assessment Governing Board (NAGB) and the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP), is planning on assessing students social and emotional “mindsets” like “grit,” “desire for learning,” and “school climate.”

According to the NAGB, school kids from 4th-12th., grades will be given ‘mindset assessments.’

Unfortunately, student assessments have been going on since 1990, students across the country at grades 4, 8 and 12 are being given reading, mathematics, writing, science, U.S. history, geography assessments.

Indoctrinating students and assessing their mindset was a hallmark of Nazi Germany. Our kids are being assessed from grade school through college. This should scare the cr*p out of everyone, why is the mass media silent as our gov’t assesses kids?

Hillary’s Clinton’s Campaign is Citing Fake Documents to Assert That Questions Surrounding Her Ill Health Are “Debunked” Conspiracy Theories.

The problem with that narrative is that no serious commentator who raised questions about Hillary’s health ever used the fake documents as evidence.

As the Washington Post reports, Hillary’s campaign sent reporters an article from FactCheck.org entitled “Fake Clinton Medical Records” which debunks the authenticity of a “leaked” document circulated on Twitter that claims to be from Lisa Bardack, Hillary’s personal physician.

The document claims that Hillary suffers from a number of ailments, including “blacking out,” “uncontrollable twitching” and “memory loss”.

The Fact Check article then implies that Fox News’ Sean Hannity began questioning Hillary’s health because of the information contained in the fake documents.

This is objectively false.

Not a single prominent individual who has discussed the issues surrounding Hillary’s health has used the fake documents as proof.

  • Sean Hannity never cited the documents.
  • Mike Cernovich never cited the documents.
  • Dr. Drew never cited the documents.
  • I never cited the documents.

In citing the fake documents as evidence that the claims have been “debunked,” the Clinton campaign is building a classic strawman argument.

A straw man is defined as, “a weak or imaginary argument or opponent that is set up to be easily defeated.”

By claiming that the fake documents are the only evidence offered that Hillary has major health problems, her campaign is hoping to deflect attention away from the real questions, which include the following;

  • Why does Hillary have to rely on a “leaning stool” to be provided virtually every single speech she gives?
  • Why does Hillary have to be propped up by pillows at virtually every single public appearance she makes?
  • Why does Hillary keep having brain freezes where she loses her train of thought?
  • Why does Hillary keep having bizarre seizure-like episodes?

Hillary’s New Staff Pick: A Pro-TPP Globalist

TPP has become a central issue

Hillary Clinton’s appointment Tuesday of former senator and interior secretary Ken Salazar to head her transition team, if elected, is undermining her professed opposition to the Trans-Pacific Partnership.

The Democratic nominee for president has said repeatedly she opposes the trade pact President Obama is trying to get through Congress before his term ends, even though she previously described it as the “gold standard.”

But Salazar was a paid lobbyist for TPP and remains an outspoken supporter of the deal.

Johnson & Johnson Hid Talcum Powder Link to Ovarian Cancer for 40 Years

Johnson & Johnson (J&J) is a well-known and trusted “baby friendly” brand, producing a range of baby products and feminine hygiene items. Unfortunately, J&J has failed the public trust yet again. And the lack of regulations relating to cosmetics is what helped them bury the dangers of one of its flagship products.

In 2008, I warned women to cease using talcum powder. I noted there were several studies showing that applying talcum powder to the genital area might raise a woman’s risk of ovarian cancer if the powder particles were to travel up through her vagina and get lodged in her ovaries.2

As noted by Robinson Calcagnie Inc., a legal firm representing talcum powder victims, more than 20 such studies exist.3 Some date back to 1971, when British researchers found talc particles embedded in a majority of the ovarian tumors investigated.4

While the measure of risk varies from study to study, the results suggest women may increase their risk for ovarian cancer anywhere from 30 to 90 percent by applying talcum powder to their genital area.5

A 2008 study concluded that using talc as little as once a week raised a woman’s risk of ovarian cancer by 36 percent. Daily users faced a 41 percent increased risk.6

‘Manimals’: The Next Frontier in Scientific Research?

Proponents of the research say federal tax dollars are needed to advance scientific understanding and treatment of diseases such as diabetes, Alzheimer’s, and Parkinson’s. They add that for decades scientists have been putting human tissue into animals, such as implanting human tumors in mice to experiment with drugs to effectively treat cancer.

Critics say creating a species of partially human “chimeras” is inhuman, unethical and immoral. The NIH, recognizing those concerns, proposes certain restrictions and an additional level of external oversight for chimera research.

One proposed restriction is that no ape species be used, because apes are too close to homosapiens. A second restriction would be to prohibit an animal sperm and human egg to breed, as well as prohibit any breeding involving animals with human sperm and human eggs, which could create human babies inside animals.

The NIH limitations, however, do not satisfy critics, who say implanting tumors in mice is a far cry from creating a new, animal/human hybrid creatures. For instance, the brains of these animal/humans, they charge, may induce a “humanlike state of sentience.”

Newt Gingrich Says Trump’s ISIS Speech Was Historic

On Monday, Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump continued his issues-focused assault on his Democratic counterpart, Hillary Clinton, by discussing foreign policy.

In the speech, given in Youngstown, Ohio, he detailed how he would bring the fight to ISIS, if elected, and how he would protect Americans from radical Islamic terrorism. He also discussed his plans to curtail immigration of Muslims from Islamist-compromised nations, and how he would ensure those who come into the country would receive “extreme vetting” over their specific ideologies.

Later, during FOX News Channel’s “Hannity” program, former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich praised the speech, calling it “historic.” He likened it to one of the many great speeches given by President Ronald Reagan.

“For the first time in the 37 years since the Iranians illegally seized American hostages, and in the 15 years since al Qaeda killed Americans on 9/11—for the very first time—you had a [presidential candidate] get up and tell the truth,” he said. “He did just a remarkable job, in my judgment, of identifying the enemy, describing accurately how big the problem is,” Gingrich said. “This is, in some ways, the most important foreign policy speech since Ronald Reagan in that it really does set the stage for a debate about what’s threatening us and what we should do about it.”

Serial Arsonist Behind California Wildfires Caught as Gore Blames ‘Global Warming’

Additionally, many of the problems facing California are self-inflicted by gov’t

The serial arsonist who started most of the California wildfires has finally been arrested — yet alarmists still blame climate change for the fires.

The California wildfires still raging out of control are the work of a serial arsonist and not the result of global warming. Yesterday, officials arrested the dangerous firebug accused of setting 17 of California’s wildfires as firefighters battle the still-raging firestorms across the state. Previously, global warming alarmists said the wildfires were a result of the long-running California drought that has left a lot of dry tinder on the ground. Numerous studies have shown the California drought is entirely natural and part of a regular cyclic pattern for the state.

The man accused of setting the California wildfires is Damian Anthony Pashilk, who has been arraigned on 17 counts of serial arson. Unfortunately, the fires are still raging and the worst is yet to come. Fireseason for much of California is September through October when ground kindling is at its driest.

Soros Paid Al Gore Millions to Push ‘Aggressive US Action’ On Global Warming

Open Society Institute budgeting $10 million in annual support to Gore’s climate group over three years

Liberal billionaire George Soros gave former Vice President Al Gore’s environmental group millions of dollars over three years to create a “political space for aggressive U.S. action” on global warming, according to leaked documents.

A document published by DC Leaks shows Soros, a Hungarian-born liberal financier, wanted his nonprofit Open Society Institute (OSI) to do more to support global warming policies in the U.S. That included budgeting $10 million in annual support to Gore’s climate group over three years.

“U.S. Programs Global Warming Grants U.S. Programs became engaged on the global warming issue about four years ago, at George Soros’s suggestion,” reads a leaked OSI memo.

Soros-Linked Communists Behind Milwaukee Unrest

Synthetic Supermicrobe Will be Resistant to All Known Viruses

It’s not finished yet. But if it is, it will be the greatest feat of genetic engineering by far.

A team in the US is part-way towards recoding the E. coli bacterium to work with a different genetic code from all other organisms on Earth. That means making more than 62,000 changes to its genome.

“We take on projects other groups say are impossibly expensive — or just plain impossible,” says the team leader George Church at Harvard Medical School in Boston, for whom this project is one step towards even more ambitious creations.

The recoded E. coli could have all kinds of industrial uses. It should be better in several ways: resistant to all existing viruses, unable to swap genes with other organisms and capable of producing proteins unlike any found in nature.

The Coming Age of the Chimera

Science wants to break down the fence between man and beast

Flights of fantasy have long envisioned animals with human traits. George Lucas’ “Star Wars” entertained millions of movie fans with an iconic tavern scene where all manner of beastly aliens packed a drinking dive and behaved in a way that any visitor to a biker bar would recognize. Beasts behaving badly. Science has a way of seizing fantasy and fashioning it into fact, so it shouldn’t shock anyone if someday soon, we can, like Dr. Dolittle, “walk with the animals, talk with the animals.” This would be the dawning of the creepy age of the chimera — a creature part human, part animal.

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) is preparing to drop its ban on federal funding for medical research that combines animal embryos with human stem cells. The intent is to grow human organs for medical research and testing of drugs without the limitations of experiments on human beings. Our Bradford Richardson reports that NIH thinks there’s great potential for scientific advancement once the funding prohibition is removed.

When Trump and Clinton Talk About Germany Two Worlds Collide

Thanks to Donald Trump, Germany plays an unusually pronounced role in the US presidential election campaign. But what both candidates say about it sounds like if they are talking about two different countries.

“I always thought Merkel was, like, this great leader. What she’s done in Germany is insane” Trump said in an interview in October 2015 about the German chancellor’s decision to allow more than a million refugees into the country. In the same interview he predicted: “They’re going to have riots in Germany.”

In December, after Chancellor Merkel had been named person of the year by Time magazine, Trump tweeted, they picked the person “who is ruining Germany.”

Why Milwaukee Burns

Black social breakdown and anti-cop ideology put another American city to the torch.

by Heather MacDonald

Blacks are the primary source of interracial violence. In 2012, blacks committed 560,600 acts of violence against whites, and whites committed 99,403 acts of violence against blacks, according to data from the National Crime Victimization Survey provided to the author by a Bureau of Justice Statistics statistician. Blacks, in other words, committed 85 percent of the interracial crimes between blacks and whites, even though they are less than 13 percent of the population. It would be naïve to think that some of that black-on-white violence does not have a racial tinge to it.

And the academic discourse of white privilege, microaggressions, institutional racism, and “intersectionality” promotes its own effete version of anti-white animus, eagerly promoted by white professors and administrators.

Death Among Spain’s Poppy Fields

The second-biggest producer of opium in the world, the country keeps its drug business under the radar

Few people realize that Spain is the second-biggest poppy producer in the world, growing as much as 13,000 hectares a year. Only Australia accounts for more. And though the legal opium business is expanding due to rising global demand for painkillers, it remains shrouded in secrecy. In Spain, just one government-approved company controls the entire production process — from sowing to exporting the final product. The clandestine nature of the business is such that the location of the fields must be kept under wraps while high security is essential. If a farmer wants to plant opium for the company, they have to get permission to do so from the Agriculture Ministry.

‘Do What is Necessary’ Greek PM Steps Up Threat to Take Germany to Court for WW2 Payments

In a threat to Berlin, the left-wing leader vowed to do “whatever is necessary” to extract the staggering sum of money — including taking legal action.

A group of Greek MPs, who have looked into the issue of compensation payments linked to the Nazi occupation of Greece between 1941 to 1944, are set to demand Germany coughs up €269bn (£234bn) in damages.

Fake Human Sacrifice Filmed at CERN, With Pranking Scientists Suspected

The European Organisation for Nuclear Research (Cern) has launched an investigation into a video filmed at night on its Geneva campus depicting a mock ritual human sacrifice.

The video, which circulated online, shows several individuals in black cloaks gathering in a main square at Europe’s top physics lab, in what appears to be a re-enactment of an occult ceremony.

The video includes the staged “stabbing” of a woman. It is filmed from the perspective of a secret viewer watching from a window above who, as the ceremony reaches its climax, lets out a string of expletives and flees with the camera still running.

The ceremony appears to have been staged in front of a statue of the Hindu deity Shiva that is on permanent display at the complex, home of the Large Hadron Collider.

“These scenes were filmed on our premises but without official permission or knowledge,” a Cern spokeswoman told Agence France-Presse in an email.

“Cern does not condone this type of spoof, which can give rise to misunderstandings about the scientific nature of our work.”

The “investigation” under way was an “internal matter”, she said.

The video has raised questions about security on Cern’s campus.

France: Paris Foodie Event Cancelled Over Lack of Security

A culinary show planned for the end of September in Paris has been cancelled for security reasons, its organizers said on Wednesday. This is the latest in a long line of events to be called off over terror fears as the country remains under a state of emergency.

‘Street Food Temple’, a gastronomic event in its third year, was scheduled to take place between September 23rd and 25th. Tens of thousands of people were expected at the Carreau du Temple, a covered market in the city’s third arrondissement, for the occasion.

France: Paris Sees Europe’s Biggest Plunge in ‘Liveability’

Terror attacks saw Paris take a huge tumble in the new Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) poll of the most pleasant cities to live in.

This was enough to see Paris feature on the list of the ten cities that faced the biggest declines, among others such as Damascus, Kiev, Detroit, and Tripoli.

The study blamed this on the “mounting number of terrorist attacks taking place in the city, and in other parts of the country, over the past three years”.

Germany Still Refusing to Pay Billions of Euros in War Reparations to Greece

On Tuesday Greece’s Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras renewed his commitment to pursuing German war reparations from World War II, stating that the Greek government will do “whatever is necessary” to receive the German payout… Nazi Germany’s occupation of Greece resulted in the destruction of 80 percent of Greece’s industry, with 28 percent of infrastructure destroyed, transit and transportation routes such as ports, roads, railways and bridges were left with 90 percent in ruins, 25 percent of forests and other natural resources were destroyed and loss of civilian life is estimated at some 11 percent of the population, according to official reports. There was also an enforced loan by the Nazis, which caused the starvation of some 300,000 people in Athens.

Italy: The Richest Florence Families in 1427 Are Still Rich Today

A study by two Italian economists has shown that despite huge political and social changes in Florence over the past 600 years, one thing has barely changed at all: the surnames of the city’s richest inhabitants.

Guglielmo Barone and Sauro Mocetti compared tax data from the Tuscan city in 1427 and 2011, and the results of their study show that Florentines whose ancestors were rich during the Renaissance are likely to still be well-off today.

They analysed the data for family ‘dynasties’, identified by surname, and found that the profession and income of one’s ancestors can help predict the profession and income of their living descendants.

Scotland: Celtic Face Yet Another UEFA Rap as Fans Defy Pleas and Fly Palestine Flags

Celtic face another UEFA rap after their fans flew Palestine flags during theChampions League clash with Israelis Hapoel Beer Sheva.

It is the ninth time in just five years Hoops supporters have landed their club in trouble with European football rulers.

UEFA forbid political expressions in football and the waving of the Palestinian standard is seen as especially provocative given the opposition.

Police Scotland this week urged fans not to make a statement in the first-leg playoff— and warned them they faced being arrested. But those pleas fell on deaf ears and now Celtic face yet another fine — or even part closure of their stadium in European competition.

Israeli fans heading to the match were greeted by the sight of Palestine flags outside the stadium with people handing out leaflets highlighting their desire for a Palestinian state.

Many Celtic fans are sympathetic to their cause and Palestinian flags are often seen being waved by fans within Parkhead while some Rangers fans often show their support for the State of Israel by waving the Star of David at games.

‘Biden Praising Serbia’s European Path — Worrying Development’

RT International, posted 17 August 2016, 17:31

US Vice-President Joe Biden commending Serbia’s European path effectively means that he’s pleased with Belgrade’s policy toward capitulation on the status of Kosovo, says Srdja Trifkovic, foreign affairs editor at Chronicles Magazine.

US Vice-President Joe Biden paid a visit to Belgrade on Tuesday. He called for “normalization“ of relations between Serbia and Kosovo — its renegade province that declared independence in 2008 — which Washington and Brussels regard as a precondition for both to join the European Union. Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic welcomed Biden, saying that he considers the VP “a friend of Serbia“ and his personal friend as well. Biden was an outspoken advocate of US intervention against the Serbs in the 1999s, including the NATO bombing of Belgrade back in 1999.

RT: What your personal take on Biden’s visit to Serbia, given his statements made back in 1998 and 1999 about the country and the Balkan war?>

Srdja Trifkovic: This is not Biden’s first visit to Serbia since those statements were made — he actually visited Belgrade in May, 2009. Already at that time some people were saying that it is inappropriate for him to pay the visit in the view of fact that he was collectively demonizing the Serbs as a nation in the 1990s. However, the President — that time Boris Tadic — was pursuing strongly pro-western policy, and of course the issue was not raised.

There is a continuity of this policy under the current Prime Minister, Aleksandar Vucic, who is now in his second mandate and who is insisting on the elusive European path for Serbia, which entails subservience to the wishes of both Brussels and Washington. That is why I think that it is only the fringe — people like Vojislav Šešelj and the Radical Party, who actually bothered to demonstrate against Biden. Most of ordinary Serbs remember what Biden was saying, both during the wars in Bosnia and Croatia, and later during the NATO intervention in Kosovo. But ordinary Serbs have no means of airing their opinions, and the government is treating Biden as VIP of the highest possible order.

RT: Why people of Serbia and the government have different attitude towards the visit?

Hamas is an Enemy of Its Own People

By Lior Haiat

Much can be said about the terrorist organization, Hamas, yet the latest act highlights multiple levels of hate and manipulation. Let us have a clear vision.

World Vision is a major humanitarian organization, well respected, with a long tradition. It constituted a sound entity to channel the support of Western governments, the United Nations and private donations. These engaged parties felt reassured having World Vision channeling all their good faith efforts.

However, not everyone shared that same positive vision. Indeed, as early as 2005, a member of Hamas, Mohammed El-Halabi, joined the World Vision organization, and by 2010 had become its director in Gaza. Last week, it was revealed that El-Halabi diverted huge amounts of funds and other resources for the needy and gave them to Hamas’ military and terrorist operations.

For years, millions of dollars — about $7.2 million per year, the equivalent of 60 percent of World Vision resources allocated for the children and people in need in Gaza — were systematically diverted to the military arm of Hamas.

At Least 14 Dead, More Than 200 Wounded in Bombings Targeting Turkish Police

A string of bombings, blamed on Kurdish rebels and targeting Turkey’s security forces, killed at least 14 people and wounded more than 220 others, officials said Thursday.

Two of the attacks were car bombings that hit police stations in eastern Turkey, while a third — a roadside blast — targeted a military vehicle carrying soldiers in the southeast of the country.

Authorities say the assaults were carried out by the Kurdistan Workers’ Party, or PKK, which has launched a campaign of car bombings targeting police stations or roadside bomb attacks against security force vehicles. Last week, PKK commander Cemil Bayik threatened increased attacks against police in Turkish cities.

Syrian opposition activists have released haunting footage showing a young boy rescued from a partially destroyed building in the aftermath of a devastating airstrike in Aleppo.

Leaked German Report Calls Turkey ‘Platform’ For Hamas, Muslim Brotherhood, Syrian Rebel Groups

The German government has accused Turkey of being a hub for Islamist groups that allows them to further their aims across the Middle East, according to a leaked confidential document.

The document, reported by German public broadcaster ARD and obtained by the Associated Press, was in a classified Interior Ministry response to a confidential question from leftist opposition party Die Linke in Germany’s Bundestag, or parliament, on August 10.

It alleges that the government of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan supports Palestinian militant group Hamas, Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood and “groups in the armed Islamist opposition in Syria,” all of which follow Sunni Islam, the same strand as the majority of Muslim Turks.

In its response, the ministry says that the Turkish government’s “numerous statements of solidarity and supportive actions” for these three groups “underline their ideological affinity with the Muslim Brothers.”

Turkish Media All in on Anti-Americanism in Wake of Failed Coup

As Turkey presses the Obama administration to hand over a Pennsylvania-based cleric, claiming he spearheaded last month’s coup attempt, the Muslim nation’s media is pointing an accusatory finger at a respected American academic — and in a bizarre twist, an infamous San Quentin death-row inmate convicted of killing his wife.

U.S.’s $400 Million Cash Payment to Iran Was Contingent on Release of American Prisoners State Department Admits Amid Mounting ‘Ransom’ Row

The Obama administration said Thursday that a $400 million cash payment to Iran seven months ago was contingent on the release of a group of American prisoners.

It is the first time the U.S. has so clearly linked the two events, which critics have painted as a hostage-ransom arrangement.

But he said the U.S. withheld the delivery of the cash as leverage until Iran permitted the Americans to leave the country.

Is Russia About to Invade Ukraine?

War is coming, but unfortunately most Americans are completely oblivious to what is about to happen. In recent weeks, tens of thousands of Russian soldiers have been massing at eight staging areas along Russia’s border with Ukraine, and some Pentagon officials believe that this could represent preparations for a full-scale invasion. But ultimately Russia has much bigger concerns than just Ukraine. At this point, the Russian people view the United States more negatively than they did even during the height of the Cold War, and their leading thinkers openly talk about the inevitability of a future conflict between the two superpowers. The Russians have been feverishly upgrading and modernizing their strategic nuclear forces in anticipation of that conflict, but unfortunately the U.S. military has not made similar strides under the Obama administration. As a result, the balance of power has shifted dramatically in favor of the Russians.

Things have been relatively calm in Ukraine for a while, but that may be about to change in a major way. According to Business Insider, Russian forces are “encircling Ukraine from the north, east, and south”…

Afghan ID Cards Were Meant to Stop Voter Fraud But Instead Stoked Ethnic Division

It is one of the few things everyone in Afghanistan can agree on — the need for a new, electronically readable, biometrically secure ID card that will help build a sense of national identity and prevent the kind of massive voter fraud that has marred the past two presidential elections.

The new card was promised by President Ashraf Ghani soon after he took office nearly two years ago and approved by parliament last year. It was designed by experts and financed by international donors. More than 9 million cards have been produced so far, and the cost of providing them to more than 20 million adults is expected to be well over $100 million.

Yet to date, not a single card has been issued to the public. Instead, the e-Tazkiras as they are called here, have become the latest casualty in an ongoing war of ethnic sensitivities that caused previous brouhahas, over the images on the Afghan currency and the language of the national anthem.

Nigeria is Dragged in a Dangerous New Direction

Nigeria woke up at the start of August to news that the blight of their nation that is Boko Haram had, apparently, gained a new leader.

On Tuesday, August 2, security analysts monitoring so-called Islamic State’s (ISIS) online presence picked up on an interview with a figure identified as Abu Musab al Barnawi in which he was announced as the man to lead Boko Haram from here on.

The same interview carried very troubling quotes from the leader as he set out his stall for the new direction of a group that has already claimed at least 30,000 lives while displacing more than two million in its campaign to claim all of Nigeria for Islam.

Insisting that Nigeria is in the grip of a conspiracy to Christianise the nation, al Barnawi stated that Boko Haram would work to counter this threat. Ordering his followers to actively target Christians, the Boko Haram chief vowed to “booby-trap and blow up every church that we are able to reach, and kill all of those who we find from the citizens of the Cross”.

Angela Merkel: No Link Between Refugee Influx and Terrorism

Germany was struck by four violent attacks in July, three carried out by asylum seekers.

Islamic terrorism was not brought to Europe with the migrant crisis, the German chancellor said on Wednesday, Die Welt reports.

“Islamist terrorism of ISIL is not a phenomenon that came to us by refugees, but something we already had,” Angela Merkel said at a campaign rally in Neustrelitz, in the North-East German state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.

But people may be trying to recruit refugees to commit terror attacks once they are in Europe, the chancellor added.

Merkel said her party, the conservative Christian Democratic Union, would react to the increasing security threat in Germany by beefing up staff numbers and giving more power to state authorities.

Greek Villagers Rescued Migrants. Now They Are the Ones Suffering.

The village is nearly empty of tourists this year as Germans, Swedes and other visitors who had long flocked to the crystalline waters of Lesbos go elsewhere, wary of spending their vacations in a place now associated with human desperation.

Business at the island’s hotels and tavernas has slumped around 80 percent, especially along the 7.5-mile stretch between Skala Sikaminias and the vacation town of Molyvos, where many of the more than 800,000 migrants who survived the crossing last year washed ashore.

Merkel: ‘Terror Did Not Come to US Through Refugees’

Chancellor Angela Merkel emphasized on Wednesday that the “phenomenon of terror” was not started in Germany by refugees.

During a campaign rally for upcoming state elections in Neustrelitz, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, the Chancellor was asked whether terrorism came hand-in-hand with refugees to Germany.

Merkel responded that while terrorists may try to win over refugees, “the phenomenon of the Islamist terrorism of Isis is not a phenomenon that has come to us through refugees, but rather one which we’ve already had here before.”

Migrants in Italy Scaling the Alps to Evade Border Police and Enter France

French authorities have closed its border with Italy due to the migrant crisis, leaving thousands of refugees, mainly from Sudan, massing in camps near the pretty Italian town of Ventimiglia.

But hundreds of migrants are instead taking to rugged trails across the vast mountain range in a bid to get into France where security is not at strong. Others try to get across the border by walking through dense woodland where controls are at their weakest.

Those caught trying to make the illegal crossings are sent back to the Italian camps, sparking fears of squalid shanty towns like the Jungle near Calais could soon spring up.

And as more migrants make their perilous journey to Italy across the Mediterranean from North Africa, conditions in the camps deteriorate.

Slovenia: Another 14 Refugees Arrive From Greece

A group of 14 asylum seekers arrived in Slovenia from Greece on Wednesday as part of the EU-sponsored relocation scheme, the Interior Ministry has said.

The latest group consists of 12 nationals of Syria and two citizens of Iraq; two families with six children in total, a married couple and two single men.

The migrants have been brought by bus to the Asylum Centre in the Ljubljana Vic borough, where their asylum requests will be processed.

Before today’s arrival, Slovenia had accepted 61 migrants under the relocation plan. Before the latest group, 15 Eritreans had been relocated from Italy and 31 Syrians and 15 Iraqis from Greece.

Today’s arrival increases the number of asylum seekers relocated to Slovenia to 75 out of the total of 567 that the country committed to accept under the relocation plan this and next year.

In addition, 60 more refugees are to be permanently resettled to Slovenia, including 40 Syrian refugees who are currently in Turkey.

Sweden Sees Fivefold Rise in People-Smuggler Arrests

Swedish police have arrested an average of one suspected people smuggler every day for the last year, new figures from the Swedish National Council for Crime Prevention (Brottsförebyggande Rådet — Brå) show.

Five times more smugglers were apprehended in the first half of 2016 than in the same period last year, Dagens Nyheter reports.

Police attribute the rise to two main factors: the introduction of border checks in Sweden, and a more general increase in smuggling across Europe.

Turkey Struggling to Cope With Refugees

Host to the world’s largest refugee population, Turkey is struggling to meet its international obligations and secure dignified living conditions for the more than 3 million people that fled to the country.

In a report published on Wednesday (17 August), the Council of Europe’s special representative on migration and refugees, Tomas Bocek, praised Turkey for its efforts to help people displaced by conflicts in neighbouring states.

But the report by the Czech official, who visited Turkey in May and June on a fact-finding mission, raises doubts whether Turkey can cope with the challenge.

Only a fraction of refugees — an estimated 20 percent — have been able to find shelter in dedicated camps and only one of the six EU-funded reception camps can be used as intended, hosting up to 750 people.

“For many refugees and asylum-seekers outside the camps, it is a struggle to survive. Harsh living conditions may be a very important push factor for those who decide to leave for other Council of Europe member States”, Bocek noted.

Child labour is “exploding”, he added.

‘Xenophobia is Highly Rational and Justified’: Police Chief

A Norwegian police chief has spectacularly broken ranks to express his professional opinion that high and sustained levels of crime committed by migrants more than justifies concern about foreigners, and that increasing immigration “leads to more rapes”.

Writing in response to an opinion piece by a philosopher in the Norwegian daily newspaper Haugesunds Avis, Police Inspector Thomas Utne Pettersen argues that while he agreed that rich nations like Norway had an “ethical and moral obligation” to help those in need, those wary of foreigners were not misled.

Muslims Demand Polygamy After Italy Allows Same-Sex Unions

Polygamy must become a civil right in Italy similar to same-sex civil unions, which the country allowed earlier this year, a prominent Muslim representative has said.

“There’s no reason for Italy not to accept polygamous marriages of consenting persons,” Hamza Piccardo, founder of the Union of Islamic Communities and Organizations (UCOII), wrote in a controversial Facebook post last week.

“When it comes to civil rights here, then polygamy is a civil right. Muslims don’t agree with homosexual partnership and still they have to accept a system that allows it,” he stressed.

North Carolina Teachers Ordered to Avoid Calling Students ‘Boys and Girls’

Teachers told to call children ‘students’ or ‘scholars’

Educators at a North Carolina public school district have been ordered to avoid using gender-specific pronouns when addressing pupils, according to a recently published training manual.

A slideshow presentation, entitled “Supporting Transgender Students,” provides guidance for the upcoming school year to K-12 teachers of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg school district, directing them how to properly handle students with gender identity issues…

But residents say the school’s new guidelines are an exercise in cultural Marxism.

“It’s a radical sexual revolution being forced on our kids,” Charlotte resident David Benham said to Fox News.

“What they are doing is highlighting and exploiting the transgender community and trying to push their radical agenda on the rest of the students,” Benham told Todd Starnes.

Hibernating-Star Explosion Provides 1st Evidence of Nova Cycle

The explosion of a “hibernating” star is revealing insight into how these star eruptions evolve, according to a new study.

A team of astronomers has found evidence of additional mini outbursts leading up to the so-called classical nova — or final explosion of a white dwarf star, the planet-size remains of a star that has burned up its nuclear fuel. Their data provide the first direct evidence for the nova hibernation hypothesis, a theory that suggests a cyclical evolution of such stars.

  1. @JD,

Regarding children being ‘assessed’ by agents of the state: This sort of thing is going on all over. The SNP recently had a setback in their efforts to implement a similar scheme. It is worth nothing what the judge said as he knocked back their policy.
