Pray For Us And For Our Country

The city of Aleppo has been nearly destroyed by the fight between the “Syrian rebels” and the regime of Bashar al-Assad. But that didn’t stop a group of devout Christians from making the journey to World Youth Day in Poland to greet the pope.

Green Infidel has translated an interview with a young Syrian woman who made the trek from Aleppo to Krakow. The translator includes this introductory note:

During the ongoing World Youth Day in Poland, a reporter from the mainstream (and very PC) Polish TV network TVN found a pilgrim in the crowd who, as it turned, was Syrian — and from Aleppo…

The reporter then seemed very surprised by the pilgrim’s calmness, and her explanation that she doesn’t intend to emigrate, and that the only thing she asks for, as a Syrian, is prayer… Apparently not every Syrian is desperate to head to the “promised land” of Europe!‎

A reporter from the Polish Catholic magazine Gość Niedzielny (for many years, the largest-selling Polish weekly news magazine) then somehow managed to find her in the crowd. (with around a million attending, and Krakow completely saturated by pilgrims, I would imagine that’s no mean feat!)

Below is the reporter’s account:

We found the Syrian, who surprised the TVN reporter!

Pilgrims from Syria came to the World Youth Day, together with Egyptians and Lebanese. The girl from Aleppo, who became famous after the interview with TVN24, is called Rita Basmajian. We managed to find her.

[JJ = Jakub Jałowiczor; RB = Rita Basmajian]

JJ:   Was it easy to get to Poland?
RB:   No, not really. The journey takes many hours, so it’s difficult. But now we’re here.
JJ:   What was the biggest problem you came across — with Polish officers, escaping from Syria, getting money for the trip?
RB:   No, the problem is with the travel time. Just this.
JJ:   What do you do on a daily basis?

Is Islamic Terrorism an Act of God?

Since at least 9-11, and possibly for even longer, political and media leaders in the West have sought to deprecate, downplay, and dismiss concerns about Islamic terrorism by making it the equivalent of an act of God — like a flood, an earthquake, a forest fire, or a tornado. Or, in the case of the video below, like people choking to death on pieces of food.

The meme goes roughly like this [a made-up example]: “Thirty-four people were killed in violent extremist attacks last week. But during the same period, more people drowned in holiday boating accidents — so why should terrorist attacks cause so much alarm and draw such an excessive level of publicity?”

For readers who are atheists and prefer to leave all deities out of the argument, this false equivalence uses a fallacious argument that conflates human agency with stochastic process. A stochastic event is one that unpredictable or random, with causes that cannot be discerned. A lightning strike, the failure of a car’s brakes on the highway, the collapse of a riverbank — all of these are stochastic events that may have fatal consequences.

Not so with Islamic terrorism. When a Muslim screams “Allahu Akhbar!” and draws his blade across an infidel throat, the cause is fully determined and predictable. The unfortunate victim may not be able to predict the moment of his unexpected demise, but we, as a society, can certainly predict the general result. A mathematical formula can probably be devised for the process: When the number of Muslims in a non-Muslim country reaches X% of the population, there will be an average of Y jihad murders per 100,000 residents per annum — with the numbers X and Y to be filled in by careful observation and statistical analysis.

The following propaganda video from German public television seeks to shoehorn Islamic terror attacks into the same category as stochastic natural disasters. The elites in Germany want to force the general public to view terrorism as a tragedy like bad weather or accidents — horrible, but really, it’s not all that likely to happen to you, so why should you fret yourself about it?

Many thanks to Nash Montana for the translation, and to Vlad Tepes for the subtitling. Vlad doesn’t want to help the German government do its Orwellian job, so he has inserted explanatory counter-memes at the beginning and end of this clip:

Gates of Vienna News Feed 7/28/2016

Organizers of a dance music festival in Austria have tightened security for the event after recent terrorist attacks in Europe. And Spain has increased security at popular tourist spots for the same reason. Meanwhile, German Chancellor Angela Merkel says that she will not reverse her migration policies — she still thinks that “Wir schaffen das” — “We can do that.”

In other news, a cook in an Alexandria, Virginia restaurant refused to prepare food for a policewoman in uniform. When the story made it into the media, two employees at the restaurant were fired.

Islam Kills Women

Anne Marie Waters of Sharia Watch is organizing a protest in front of the House of Lords on August 20. Her aim is to address the harm being done to women by Sharia — the femicide, the FGM, the misogyny, and all the other aspects of Islamic brutality against women. In particular, she is speaking out against the silence of the feminists on this issue.

Here’s what she had to say in her Breitbart article:

Islam Kills Women is a joint effort between Sharia Watch UK and Examine-Islam.org. It aims to do one thing and one thing only: show the world just why it is that women are treated so utterly appallingly in every Muslim society on earth.

As well as producing articles from various writers and information packs and videos, I will challenge every feminist organisation in Britain to debate me, so that they can attempt to prove me wrong. When they realise that they cannot do this, I invite them to stand alongside me at the culmination of this campaign — a protest rally to be held outside Parliament on August 20th.

Islam kills women not only physically — although of course it does — but it kills the spirit of far greater numbers. From birth, girls are degraded and humiliated, most often by their own mothers. These girls accept their status and then pass it on to their own daughters in an endless cycle of what can only be described as evil.

Often forced into marriage, forced to live with domestic violence, and enslaved under a system of ‘honour’, life can be sheer misery for girls unfortunate enough to have been born in to Islam. To top it off, many will have their clitoris cut off so that sex will be painful and they can suffer the further humiliation of incontinence and other side-effects.

All of this, but all of it, is maintained and sustained and justified by Islam. That is a matter of fact.

And from her own website:

The Suffragettes didn’t stand around making statements about how wonderful it would be if the world was perfectly just and free. They didn’t spend their time debating theories and congratulating themselves for tolerating the oppression of women in the name of their culture. They took action, they demanded, they starved themselves, they chained themselves to Parliament, some even committed suicide. They did so for a reason, to win the right to vote, not to condemn misogyny in general.

I am asking you to do the same. I am asking you to cease the cowardice of making a virtuous statement and then going about your lives; this achieves nothing. If we are to preserve the freedoms won for us by our mothers and grandmothers, we must demand that men who pose a threat to those freedoms are not permitted to move here en masse. It’s a real solution, not a grand statement. We must also demand an end to sharia law, which is facilitating the slavery of women right under our noses in the UK. We must demand prosecutions for forced marriage and jail-time for the obscenity of FGM. If this occurred, not only will it save countless individual girls, but if you’re a fan of grand statements, one could hardly be grander than that.

It’s Nobody’s Business but the Turks’

In the following article the German opinion writer Hans Heckel takes a jaundiced look at the political situation in Germany and Turkey in the wake of the migration and the recent failed military coup.

JLH, who translated the piece for Gates of Vienna, includes this brief note:

Here is another of the snide weeks-in-review by Hans Heckel. It is striking to me that this is a journalist in a Berlin-based newspaper who inevitably takes a regime-critical point of view.

The translated article from Die Preußische Allgemeine Zeitung:

The Good Fairy

How Merkel clarified the situation on the Bosporus, how our life is being changed, and why Boris Johnson is an unfortunate choice of bogeyman

The Week in Review by Hans Heckel
July 23, 2016

Why is the man still in power? Wasn’t the era of Erdogan trending to its close last summer already? The Turkish strongman had lost his absolute majority in the June, 2015 elections. And coalitions do not enter into the calculations of someone who is interested in holding all the power.

So new elections were set for November 1, 2015. But the polls showed that the results of June would just be repeated. Erdogan would be forced to cooperate with other parties or would have had to step down as head of his party, so that someone else could do it.

It was infuriating. But then Merkel appeared in October, shortly before elections, and clarified the situation. The Turkish opposition may have had great hopes. After all, the Berlin democrats, including Merkel’s CDU, had always emphasized that they were for the preservation of democracy and human rights in Turkey, and were firmly behind the ravaged opposition.

And yes, there stood Merkel, but only in the sense that one must get behind someone in order to sink a knife into his back. The German chancellor gave the hopeful Turkish opposition its death stroke by showering gifts on the wobbly Erdogan. She offered the prospect of visa-free travel, instant galvanization of the negotiations on Turkey’s entry to the EU (Merkel: “This process has now begun”) and, on top of that, millions more euros would rain down on Turkey. After these revelations, the opposition lay broken, in its own blood. Erdogan stood there radiating victory, and the last undecided voter from Istanbul to Incirlik now knew where he should put his X. If even the head of the biggest democracy in the EU is buttering Erdogan up, he can’t be too bad. On November 1st, Erdogan’s AKP brilliantly won back the absolute majority. The Turks living in Germany gave it 60% of their votes. Thus reinforced, the AKP chief set out to complete those blacklists which he is now processing, pushed along to absolute power by a nebulous/dilettantish putsch.

But why did Merkel play the good fairy for Erdogan? Because the CDU head had stepped knee-deep into the swamp with her “welcoming culture.”

The Turk was expected to keep more masses of asylum-seekers off her back. Or at least to act as if her were doing that, so that Germans would have the impression that something was being done. And in exchange for that, Merkel was prepared to do anything, including putting a knife in the back of the Turkish opposition, who had until this moment seen the German democrats as friends.

France Has Two Options — Civil War or Submission

The pace of jihad in Western Europe is accelerating, especially in Germany and France. Paul Weston has eyed the steep slope of the Islamization graph and drawn some sobering conclusions.

France Has Two Options — Civil War or Submission

by Paul Weston

In the aftermath of the Bataclan theatre massacre in 2015, President Hollande declared France was at war with ISIS. In the aftermath of the Islamic carnage in Nice, Hollande declared France was at war with ISIS. In the aftermath of the Islamic attack on the church at Saint-Étienne-du-Rouvray and the beheading of Father Jacques Hamel, President Hollande declared France was at war with ISIS.

What strange times we live in. Hollande cannot declare war on ISIS because ISIS is not just some foreign power in far-away lands which can be bombed from the air with impunity. ISIS is Islam and Islam is in France. Islam is in Paris and Marseilles. Like a rapidly expanding virus, Islam has invaded France and is attacking the racial base, the cultural base, the spiritual base and the political base of the host country itself.

So Hollande’s war is a myth, which is hardly surprising. After all, what is he realistically able to do? Invade Paris and level the banlieues? Build internment camps and lock up everyone with a beard? Hollande knows he is on difficult ground here, as can be gleaned from his following abject statement: “We must fight this war by all means, while respecting the rule of law, what (sic) makes us a democracy.”

In other words, the plump, jowly, bespectacled, soft-handed Hollande intends to take a small plastic knife into a fight against a muscular, fanatical opponent toting an AK-47 — with all too predictable results. France, like so much of the West these days, finds itself in a no-win situation. Our ruling elites have allowed a supremacist people and a violently supremacist culture into our peaceful liberal democracies and are now surprised to discover this was not really a very good idea and cannot be solved by mouthing liberal platitudes alone.

Some of us have pointed out the foolishness in allowing the barbarian 7th century to jump into bed with the advanced 21st century, but we failed to make much headway. In point of fact, we were cast into the wilderness allocated for the dissident class of racists, xenophobes and Islamophobes who thought they knew better than our illustrious Traitor Class of cowardly political careerists and media whores.

And now we in the West find ourselves in desperate trouble. The slow march of time is finally speeding up. The demographic shift is starting to make itself known. When 100,000 Muslims in France became 200,000 the end of the world was not nigh. But when today’s 6 million Muslims of France become 12 million by 2030 and 24 million by 2050 — then the end of France becomes very much nigh indeed. And please bear in mind that a baby born today will only be 34 in 2050. This is not about something in the unimaginably distant future.

New Year’s Eve 1999 seems only yesterday. Who can ever forget the madly grinning Tony Blair and his ghastly wife coercively linking arms with the poor old Queen as they cavorted and capered their way into a new millennium of Labour Party-based hope and optimism; into a European Union whose glorious future was laid out under the oxymoronic EU motto of “United in Diversity”? How we laughed and cheered in the final hours of 1999! How we danced, drunk on the promise of a brave new world!

But here we are sixteen years later in an altogether different world. A world where Islam weighs heavily on the West. A new world which started on the 11th of September 2001 and continues through to the present-day beheading of Father Jacques Hamel. Where will we be in another sixteen years? If Islamic terror went from occasional stories in 2000 to constant front page news in 2016, who would rationally argue against a civil war in France by 2030? Apart from half-witted left-liberals I mean…

“I am Palestinian, and I Have Butchered Many Jews”

We reported yesterday on a recent culture-enriching incident from Germany, in which a surgeon named Attila Tan was threatened with beheading by the family of a dissatisfied patient. No ethnicities were mentioned, but the unhappy patient’s father was alleged to have cried “Allahu akhbar!” while brandishing his knife, which provides a clue.

As a follow-up, the TV news report below features an account about what happened from Dr. Tan, who says the man holding the knife claimed to be a Palestinian with ample on-the-job experience in butchering Jews. The fellow evidently assumed that since Dr. Tan was a successful surgeon, he must also be Jewish.

The most dismaying part of the story is that the four suspects have now been released, due to a lack of evidence. It seems that the testimony of the doctor, his two assistants, and a patient — four kuffar witnesses — carries less weight than that of the four Muslims waving knives. Sharia in action in Modern Multicultural Germany!

The French MSM Anonymizes the Jihad

Several French media outlets announced today that they will no longer broadcast the names or photos of terrorists. The rationale behind the decision is that to do so “glorifies” the despicable acts of the mujahideen, helps spread their violent propaganda, and encourages further radicalization.

As it happens, it also prevents the French public from learning that (a) the terrorists have a “Middle-Eastern appearance”, and (b) Muslim names, not infrequently including variants of the name “Mohammed”.

But I’m sure these last two are just side-effects of the editors’ high-minded decision. No one would want to deprive the public of such important knowledge, would they?

Here’s a discussion of the issue from BFMTV. Many thanks to Ava Lon for the translation:

Terrorism: BFMTV and Le Monde won’t broadcast any more images of terrorists

While the [terrorist] attacks are increasing in France, the debate on a possible “glorification” of terrorism has been revived in the French media. BFMTV and Le Monde have decided not to broadcast pictures of the authors of the attacks. Elements of reflection.

Can the media image of the attackers influence candidates for jihad, and push them to take action? After the attacks of Nice and Saint-Etienne-du-Rouvray, the debate was revived in the French media, including by Jérôme Fenoglio, editorial director of Le Monde, which published an editorial this morning to this effect.

“Following the Nice attack, we will not publish any more photographs of authors of the killings, to avoid the possible effects of posthumous glorification,” says the reporter, who calls for a “lot of introspection” in the French media.

A position shared and adopted by BFMTV on all media. Following the attack in Saint-Etienne-du-Rouvray, the channel has decided not to publish the photograph of Adel Kermiche, the suspect of the murder of the father Hamel. [Is he still a suspect if he was killed at the scene? — translator]

“Faced with the accumulation of attacks in France, we do not want to create a rogues’ gallery of terrorists. So we stop publishing their photos, which does not prevent a work of investigation on their profile and their background. The only exception to this principle is the wanted posters, the search notices from law enforcement, that can help investigators,” commented Alexis Delahousse, deputy managing editor of BFMTV.

Shortly after the attack on 14 July in Nice, a petition was even officially launched to ask the CSA [Superior Council of Audiovisual (Content), a French institution whose role is to regulate the various electronic media in France, such as radio and television. Its predecessor, the Haute Autorité de la Communication Audiovisuelle, was created by the Socialist Party] to control the dissemination of such images. If this petition already has 70,000 signatories, the debate is however not new.

Photos that cause a scandal

Back in 2012, many readers and viewers were moved by the publication of photographs of Mohamed Merah, the perpetrator of the killings of Toulouse and Montauban, where we saw the terrorist laughing at the wheel of his car.

Similar reactions were observed in the aftermath of the attack on 14 July in Nice, during which 84 people were killed by a truck careening at full speed along la Promenade des Anglais. The press then diffused a more “advantageous” photo of Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel, the author of the killing. We see him lying on the beach and showing off his muscles in a triumphant pose.

A vision all the more shocking, since at the same time several videos showing the victims of the attack — injured or dead — circulating on social networks. However, the decision not to broadcast the photographs of bombers poses several deeper questions. Several jihad specialists question and doubt the effectiveness of such a measure in the fight against radicalization. And David Thomson, RFI journalist and the author of a book on the lives of several French jihadists (The French jihadists, ed. les Arènes), doesn’t expect a decrease in terrorism.

German Police Expose a Mosque

German police raid mosque in Hildesheim, Lower Saxony

After all the jihad slaughter, we’ve been wondering when some German mosques would get peeled open and their doings exposed for public view. I’ve been RILLY pondering this question ever since the eighteen year-old jihadi was found to have employed a Glock in his carnage. Not to mention the three hundred rounds of ammunition he was carrying. Obviously the boy didn’t go to his local department store for the materiel.

Now comes my answer in the form of this story from The Daily Mail:

German armed police smash their way into mosque and raid homes of group accused of radicalising Muslims and grooming them for jihad

[…]

Armed police officers have launched a raid on a mosque and several homes belonging to a group believed to be radicalising Muslims in Germany.

Apartments belonging to eight board members of the radical German-speaking Islamic group DIK were searched by officers in Hildesheim, Lower Saxony.

It comes as part of a crackdown on the group, which is thought to have been encouraging people to travel to Syria and Iraq to join ISIS.

The group ran sermons, seminars and lectures entitled ‘the hatred of infidels’, according to German media.

’Bout time, eh? And most satisfying.

Just to show you that the B never ever gets punch-drunk from the unceasing bad news, here’s a small snip from a conversation he had earlier today. It was his response to a team member about that Hildesheim story, after she said, “It seems 22 guys from Hildesheim went to Syria.” It reminded him of the first line of a limerick, so —
