The Dutch Titanic is Taking on Water

Our Dutch correspondent H. Numan sends this brief summary of the latest political buzz from the Netherlands.

The Dutch Titanic is taking on water
by H. Numan

The cabinet is once again in stormy waters. I think Captain Smith of the RMS Titanic wouldn’t want to change places…

Minister Ard van der Steur is in serious problems over Volkert van der Graaf, the murderer of Pym Fortuyn. Our national “hero” did a photo shoot, in which he blatantly ignored all restrictions given to him. In addition to that, he’s on the dole, but he likes running marathons. Kind of difficult to sell, since the dole requires him to make an effort to find a job. He doesn’t, because he can’t handle that mentally.

So Volkert hasn’t changed one little bit. He despises anyone. There’s only one person right, and that’s him.

The minister at first denied knowledge. However, the ministry and the parole board — who denied everything until yesterday — had been planning this for at least a couple of months. Also, Volkert got what Pim was refused: bodyguards at the expense of the taxpayer.

It’s turning into a national outcry. De Hond did a poll, in which 65% want him back behind bars. Van der Steur asked for a few days respite to come up with an excuse.

The other source of scandal is Bert Koenders, Minister for Foreign Affairs. The international court of Justice is in The Hague. At this moment African nations want to add vague minor offenses as crimes to humanity. For example, if a border guard opens fire across the border and this gets out of hand. The border guard then should be tried for crimes against humanity. Or when a naval vessel opens fire. Very, very vague. The Dutch government (VVD) does not want to add this to the list, but Koenders wants it very much.

Both have some explaining to do…

Evicted to Make Room for Culture-Enrichers

This is something we’ve all been expecting: the displacement of native Europeans from their homes to make room for “refugees”.

The governments of various countries have already been requisitioning unoccupied premises and forcing people with “excessive” living space to downsize, but now Germany has actually begun to evict tenants from their apartments so that culture-enrichers may be moved in. The legality of such measures is still under dispute, but from what I hear, the news report below is just the tip of the iceberg — the practice is already widespread.

What’s next? The establishment of Displaced Persons Camps for native Germans who have been evicted?

Will the tear-jerker media broadcast footage of wretched-looking white Europeans clutching the barbed-wire perimeter fence, looking hopelessly out at their vanished freedom?

Gates of Vienna News Feed 9/24/2015

More than 700 Muslim pilgrims were killed near Mecca in the annual Hajj, during the traditional Ritual Stampede. Another 800 were reported to be injured.

In other news, a teenaged asylum seeker was hit by a freight train and killed while trying to walk from Calais to Britain through the Channel Tunnel. Meanwhile, the UN High Commission for Refugees has criticized the recent EU migration summit for failing to do enough to provide safe routes for refugees once they reach European soil.

ESW: My Report on USA Trip #6

Earlier this month Elisabeth Sabaditsch-Wolff paid a visit to the Washington D.C. to take part in the annual ACT! For America conference, and take in the Tea Party sights on Capitol Hill. Below is her report on the trip.

Report on USA Trip #6

September 12, 2015

by Elisabeth Sabaditsch-Wolff
Executive Board member, Pax Europa

I travel to Washington DC — the wretched beehive — on an annual basis, first to attend the ACT! For America Conference and Legislative Briefing, and secondly, to use the opportunity to brief selected members of Congress about the current state of affairs in Europe.

Naturally, the so-called “Iran Agreement”, which was to be decided in Congress, was at the top of everyone’s mind and list. However, other topics of discussion were the extent of the present immigration catastrophe in Europe, plus the broad and worrisome encroachments on freedom of expression in Germany and Austria.

During my briefings I raised the issue of the accelerating loss of freedom of speech, using selected examples to illustrate what I was describing. For instance, there are confirmed reports of snitching among co-workers with regard to the so-called asylum-seekers — employees are warned not say or write anything disparaging about these poor “migrants”. In another example, a bus driver in Germany was fired for wearing a t-shirt manufactured by a company deemed right-wing extremist. And finally, a young apprentice working for Porsche was fired for posting a — undoubtedly — less than intelligent comment on Facebook. He was never given a chance to apologize.

I also discussed questionable decisions made by the Austrian judiciary. One case in point was a judge’s allowing for Heinz-Christian Strache, the leader of the largest opposition party, to be compared to Adolf Hitler. On what grounds, you ask? “Because it is based on objective fact.”

In this connection, I would like to draw attention to the new amendment to criminal law, which will be in force at some point this fall. It will include the punishment of mental crimes, and calls for the unconditional acceptance of certain facts, such as genocides recognized by the court, including Srebrenica and Armenia.

For more about this illiberal new law, see this translated article.

Concerning asylum-seekers, migrants, and refugees: I discussed the lack of any definition for illegal entry to Austria. The Schengen Agreement is responsible for the open internal borders, and calls for strong external border control in Greece, Italy, Malta and other countries at the periphery of the EU. Schengen has shown itself to be ineffective, and should be considered a failure. This comes as no surprise to those critics who have been vilified for many years for pointing out this ineffectiveness.

Who is vetting the hundreds of thousands mostly young and strong men? Who can guarantee that there are no ISIS fighters among the trekkers carrying the latest cell phones and wearing what appears to be designer jeans? Should the EU not take seriously ISIS’ threats to sending mujahideen disguised as refugees? And, in a disgusting move, the Austrian chancellor insinuated that the Hungarians’ reaction to the current situation, namely applying and adhering to Schengen rules, are a reminder of “dark times”. We are indeed witnessing dark times, but certainly not of the sort Mr. Faymann alluded to. We are witnessing the demise of the nation state, of the rule of law, of freedom.

Will You…?

The United Kingdom is not part of the Schengen Area, and has hence escaped the worst of the “migration crisis” that is now ravaging much of the rest of Western Europe. However, Britain is already thoroughly culturally enriched, so it is only a matter of time before it succumbs to the same multicultural madness as the rest of the EU.

In his latest essay, our English correspondent Seneca III takes an allegorical look at Modern Multicultural Britain.

Will You…?
A Metaphorical Question and Answer Session

by Seneca III

From a free-born Englishman:

Will you, my fellow free-born citizens, kill me if I, operating on the principle that ‘Offence is the best form of defence’, respond in a physical manner to the murderous, barbaric invaders who are determined to enslave or kill me and you, particularly those of us who will not bow down or go quietly into that good night?

Answers from:

A serving Soldier:

The jury is still out amongst the rank and file, although I suspect that the generals already have their orders.

A casually discarded Veteran:

I cannot answer that question on the grounds that I might incriminate myself… at the moment, that is.

A Policeman:

Probably. I have a salary and a pension to protect. I have also been diversified, my senior officers are either RoPers or RoPer sympathisers/enablers, and I care not for the future of my children.

A Politician:

Certainly. This is my multiculti power grab, and you will not be permitted to derail it.

A Captain of Industry and of Commerce:

Likewise. I have my FY money and my safe bolt-hole sewn up.

A Banker, a Broker and a Barrister:

We are likewise with the Captains.

A Muslim MP:

Do not let the cat out of the bag too soon, honky, or people will latch onto the provisions of the Civil Contingencies Act 2004 (another priceless gift from al-Blair) and figure out what we have planned for them.

A Christian Priest:

Peace at any price.

An Imam:

Of course, Kuffar! You can’t die soon enough. We need your house to serve the needs of our breeding programme and to house our incoming brothers, the true warriors of Allah.

A Muslim local Councillor:

Come and ask that question in Bradford if you dare. This land is now our land and you will never have it back ,although we will be quite happy to behead you here.

A Rotherham schoolgirl:

They already did it to my mind.

A BBC Apparatchik:

That’s a difficult question for us. If you’re dead you won’t be able to pay your licence fee, and as we can’t prosecute the deceased how will we be able to fund our simple lifestyles and tiny pensions then?…Hmmm, now there’s a thought, mind you!……Update: We shall shortly be bunging our very expensive legal team millions of pounds of your licence tax in order to find or create a way to sue your Estate in perpetuity. Thank you, we will let you know when you can be profitably killed.

An Academic:

The question is superfluous. These are the cultured vanguard of the Religion of Peace, not barbarians.

A knee-jerk, metrosexual bleeding heart Liberal:

Sebastian Kurz — The One-Eyed Man Among the Blind

The following op-ed concerns the latest feeble measures taken by the Austrian government to cope with the European “refugee crisis”. It was written several weeks ago by the well-known opinion writer Andreas Unterberger. Many thanks to JLH for translating this piece from the author’s website:

Sebastian Kurz — The One-Eyed Man Among the Blind

by Andreas Unterberger
August 25, 2015

The foreign minister [Sebastian Kurz] has made the most substantial suggestion of all politicians to date about the biggest Austrian problem by far — that is, the folk migration which surpasses all standards of measure. Thus far, official Austria has accepted this without resistance. Kurz’s idea is a positive contrast to the constant emission of do-gooder phrases from politicians and the media, and to the quarrels over division of the spoils which ignore the basic problem.

In doing this, Kurz presents a refreshing contrast to his party leader, whose appearance on Austrian Radio (ORF) resembled the “Oh, please, all come, the more the merrier” attitude of the Greens, the Pinks, SPÖ-Vienna. ÖVP-Tyrol and several bishops.

There is a strong suspicion that this contretemps masks a jealous conflict between Kurz and Mitterlehner. This will be entertaining for the fans of free style wrestling.

Kurz’s positions are in clear contrast to the next trial balloon the administration is sending up to distract the angry public. It is appointing a veteran of the Raiffeisen banking group, Christian Konrad, as commissioner of refugees. Experienced Austrians certainly know that no “commissioner” has yet solved any problem. Konrad is completely lacking in competence. Such an appointment only ever serves to feed the media for a few days. Then it is forgotten.

The Advantages and Disadvantages of the Kurz Plan

The Kurz plan, too, is half-hearted and insufficient. The young foreign minister is only the one-eyed man among the blind. He sees at least a little further than the rest of the politicos.

First, the positive: Kurz dares to call for military intervention against the terror militia [IS]. In fact, that is clearly necessary. Because, unfortunately, prayers, diplomatic bustle and outraged outcries from NGOs and human rightists have proven to have no effect against the volcano of madness in the Near East and the increasingly strong tributary lava streams overflowing Austria.

Kurz is also right to call for security and buffer zones in North Africa, from which could come proposals for the immigration to Europe. And he is right to call for strengthened protection of Europe’s outer borders, the declaring of secure lands of origin and the establishment of reception centers in Greece and Italy.

All correct, and a hundred times better than the helpless yammering dismay of all the rest of the government leadership. Or the euphemism from the party leader in his interview that what Austria needs to do is to fire the reverse thrusters. To be sure, Mitterlehner did not define this expression. (Instead of following up, the ORF interviewer supplied a silly question mark.) It appears that Mitterlehner intended it to encourage a greater willingness on the part of Austrians to accept the folk migration.*

This caused outrage in many TV viewers and despair in many former ÖVP voters. For them, Kurz is a last glimmer of hope.

But his idea too is truly only half-hearted (and one half-year late). The foreign minister avoids many of the thorniest questions.

What about “Neutrality”?

In the end, it is just embarrassing when an Austrian politician calls for military intervention, yet does not address the problem of neutrality. Under the leadership of Wolfgang Schüssel, the ÖVP still had the courage to demand the abrogation of neutrality. But for a decade now, it has forbidden this subject.

When an Austrian suggests “military intervention,” he is in essence asking that the Americans fight to the last GI, while Austria remains under cover of neutrality. The problem is, the Americans are not interested in doing more than they already are doing against IS. Which is, at any rate, more than any EU country is doing. Or Turkey.

Europeans and Austrians, with their enormously high percentage of Muslims, are ten times more threatened by IS and company than the Americans. Ergo, Austria has to, ought to, engage militarily, so that this threat can be disposed of militarily. The EU will only do something militarily if its members participate. And the rest of the world will only do something if the EU takes the lead.

Does the PKK Remain Taboo?

There is also another possibility of answering the threat of IS, Al-Qaida, the Taliban, et alii — support for their most efficient opponents. That is the Kurdish PKK and its sister militias. If (for poor but understandable reasons) we ourselves do not want to engage, then we should at least help the PKK.

Slovakia plans to take legal action against the EU in response to its vote to impose mandatory refugee quotas on member states. Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, however, says that his country will comply with the directive and accept its allotted share of migrants.

Meanwhile, 7,000 new immigrants have arrived in Sweden over the past week, and 2,500 landed on the Greek island of Lesbos this morning over in space of three hours.

In other news, the FBI has reportedly recovered 30,000 deleted emails from Hillary Clinton’s personal email server.

A Multicultural Imperium Built on Childish Fantasy

The following op-ed from Die Welt discusses the seemingly suicidal delusions that inform the open-borders policies of Joachim Gauck and Angela Merkel.

Many thanks to Nash Montana for the translation:

Merkel is doing a huge disservice to Europe

What a mistake: Germans believed in a completely smooth integration of migrants. But they’re in for a surprise — and on top of that, the European Union will get into big trouble.

by Václav Klaus

The current open discussions, especially in Germany, over the mass (collective, not individual) immigration, that builds its premise on the word ‘refugee’ instead of the meaning of ‘migrant’, or better stated, of the economically motivated migrant, is very dubious. It is deceptive, it is misleading, and with its excessively exaggerated political correctness, it is down right suicidal.

Social sciences have told us (in this case even in complete harmony with healthy common sense), that in order for the smooth and productive functioning and stability of any society, the interior coherence of said society is absolutely vital. Economic science applies the concepts of “human and social capital”, without which a healthy, cohesive and functioning body politic is impossible.

Today’s debate about immigration completely ignores these elementary facts. But the ideologues, their minds fogged up by the ideology of multiculturalism, do not see any problem with this. They believe that it is possible to “fill up” societies in individual European states with migrants without a hitch.

Migrants as the glue for Europe

Therefore it is hardly a surprise that these politicians do not see any urgency in stopping the current wave of migration. They’re occupied with managing it — be it with money, with open arms, with shelter and, especially, with the promise of a new, better life.

Why is that? I would like to cite my colleague Jiri Weigl. He believes that the intention of this “Willkommenspolitik”, the ‘culture of welcome’, is to eventually destroy the nexus of existing societies in Europe. The resulting wreckage is the only way for the leading politicians to build their “new Europe” — without us of course, without those who are content with the current Europe. And from these migrants shall come “the first members of this imagined new European nation,” says Weigl.

Migrants have zero connection to existing European states, and therefore they will adapt and identify much more easily to a new multicultural Europe. The migrants essentially function as the glue of a new European nation.

A fatal mistake made by Germans

Another reason for the behavior of many European and especially German politicians could be their naïve notion that this massive immigration in the short run may have some uncomfortable issues and unintended consequences, but that in the long run, it all will end on a positive note. This is a fatal mistake.

Interior ministers for the European Union approved a plan to distribute 120,000 (some reports say 160,000) “refugees” among the member states of the EU. The distribution is mandatory, and member states that fail to comply will face fines. Slovakia, Romania, Czechia, and Hungary voted against the plan, while Finland abstained.

In other news, two Canadians and a Norwegian were among the tourists captured by gunmen at an island resort in the Philippines. There’s no evidence so far on the affiliation of the kidnappers, but it is thought that a local Islamist group may be responsible.
