Tornado Warnings on the Radar

Looking at the radar map for our area – which covers up to the Washington D.C. area – I saw the unusual (for us) purple triangle representing tornado cells. Fortunately for this area, though not for those to the east of us, they don’t seem to be heading this way.

That doesn’t mean the electric lines coming down the mountains west of us won’t start acting up; they’re right temperamental.

Despite the flickering lights, we are having what has been a rarity for our summer-so-far: thunder on all sides, lightning to match, and lovely, lovely rain. Great lashings of rain.

That pink-purple triangle thingie is a worry, though…

Drat! I didn’t get this up to warn you in time. The connection just diskappeared, as Popeye used to say.

Let’s see if I can get this up between lightning bolts just so you’re forewarned.

  1. Lucky you. They are getting rain in China and in my former second home in Goa, but apart from a few isolated showers, nothing here in this part of Thailand. The plants in our once lush garden are beginning to shrivel and die. It is oppressively hot during the day but I have no problem with that. I just wish the storm would break and give us some much needed rain.

  2. Be careful what you wish for…….

The heavens have opened and it’s pouring outside. The cats and dogs are all under cover and the surviving plants are beginning to perk up. Nothing else to do but crack open a bottle. Cheers!
