Geert Wilders in Vienna, Part 6: The speech subtitled in English

Geert Wilders, the leader of the Party for Freedom (Partij voor de Vrijheid, PVV) in the Netherlands, paid a visit to Vienna last Friday to meet with Heinz-Christian Strache, his counterpart in the Austrian Freedom Party (Freiheitliche Partei Österreichs, FPÖ).

Below is a subtitled version of the speech Mr. Wilders gave in the Hofburg on March 27, with an introduction by Heinz-Christian Strache. Many thanks to Henrik Ræder Clausen for recording this video (and taking the photo), and to Vlad Tepes for the subtitling:

The German and English transcripts of Mr. Wilders’ speech are available here.

  1. Geert Wilder’s speech was as fine a piece of oratory as I had ever hoped to hear. I know a tiny bit of German, and with the help of the subscripts, I could appreciate not only the ideas but the structure, the flow, the elocution and the delivery. I can’t remember hearing a speech half as inspiring and rousing.

It’s no wonder Wilders is shunned, vilified, prosecuted, and ignored by the media and the political mainstream in his own country. On an equal playing field, he would blow them out of the water easily.

  2. This may sound stupid but all I can say is I hope the right side wins this battle, or should I say war? I guess it is war.

What I don’t understand is why “they” keep letting Muslims in — what is up with that? Personally, I don’t care what they do in their own damn desert, but to bring that barbarian behavior to Europe and the Nordic countries seem so terribly wrong that I am beginning to wonder about Europe’s leaders. Why would they want this? Does it make sense? No. But USA is doing it, too. I’m just glad I live in a little corner of USA where there are no Muslims — yet. I always read the Tennessee news as posted here, so I am aware of how they are encroaching.

    • It won’t be too long before some real estate will be known as “Muslim-free” and that’s a shame. However, the aggressive takeover of so many areas has left people anxious. The safest bet would be to move into an Asian area – as in *real* Asian, not the U.K. euphemism version. Chinese, Filipino, Korean, Japanese. Low levels of crime, high levels of achievement. Of course, Anglos will be in the unfamiliar position of low-man-on-the-totem-pole when it comes to the academic achievement of their children. But then I’d rather be stupid and safe…
