The White Mosque Summit on Countering Kinetic Activism

As we all know, “Violent Extremism” is a euphemism for “Islamic Terrorism”. However, “violent” is pejorative and inherently discriminatory, and “extremism” implies a value judgment that says “moderate” ideologies are in some way preferable and superior to “extremist” ones.

Therefore I propose that we replace the outmoded phrase “Violent Extremism” with “Kinetic Activism”, which remains value-neutral while still addressing the dangerous tendencies of certain ideological radicals who interpret core documents in ways that negatively impact their fellow humans of all races, creeds, colors, and sexual orientations.

This past week President Barack Hussein Obama (pbuh) convened a summit in Washington D.C. to address the pressing issue of kinetic activism. The second day of the summit opened with an Islamic prayer in Arabic. No other religious invocations were offered — neither Christian, nor Jewish, nor Buddhist, nor Wiccan, nor Ásatruar. Only Muslim.

That makes sense, of course, since Mohammed was the final prophet of the only true religion, whose ministry made all previous avatars irrelevant. So let’s not quibble about the fact that a conclave of responsible theophostics chose to offer a prayer to Allah only, and nothing else. Those esteemed mantics have a legitimate claim to being the best of all people, beloved of Allah. They deserve their righteous privilege.

However…

An error of omission crept into the invocation at the Summit on the morning of February 19: not all of the prayer — which was offered up in Allah’s own language, Arabic — was translated into English.

The following video may help clarify matters. The Arabic text you hear was recited by Imam Sheikh Sa’ad Musse Roble, president of the World Peace Organization in Minneapolis, Minnesota (and an imam at the mosque in Karmel Square, which was loaned more than a million sharia-compliant dollars by the City of Minneapolis). The English-language audio features Imam Abdisalam Adam of the Islamic Civil Society of America, who is also the director of the Dar Al-Hijrah mosque in St. Paul, Minnesota. The translated Koran text is from Hilali-Khan, which is one of the authorized standard translations.

Many thanks to ritamalik for the translation and timing, to Dr. Andrew Bostom for his Koranic expertise, and to Vlad Tepes for the editing, annotation, and subtitling:

The recitation featured in the imam’s prayer was Koran 5:32, but not all of the noble text was translated into English. In the Hilali-Khan translation below, the missing text is marked in red:

Because of that We ordained for the Children of Israel that if anyone killed a person not in retaliation of murder, or (and) to spread mischief in the land — it would be as if he killed all mankind, and if anyone saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of all mankind. And indeed, there came to them Our Messengers with clear proofs, evidences, and signs, even then after that many of them continued to exceed the limits (e.g. by doing oppression unjustly and exceeding beyond the limits set by Allah by committing the major sins) in the land!

The significance of the missing portions may not be obvious to those who have never studied the Koran.

The first sentence (omitted from the English translation) is intended to indicate that the stated rule applied solely to the “Children of Israel”, i.e. the Jews, and not to those who had submitted to Allah. Muslims were, and are, required to obey a different set of rules, as will become evident in the next verse of the Koran.

The translation of the last part of 5:32 was also omitted. It explains the exception to the rule, which includes anyone who has committed “mischief” or “major sins” in the land.

And who might those exceptions be? You guessed it! It’s them JOOOOS — and possibly those nasty Christians as well.

The next verse, Koran 5:33, has more details on what Allah has ordered up against those who commit mischief in the land (Hilali-Khan translation):

The recompense of those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger and do mischief in the land is only that they shall be killed or crucified or their hands and their feet be cut off on the opposite sides, or be exiled from the land. That is their disgrace in this world, and a great torment is theirs in the Hereafter.

In other words: If anyone killed a person, it would be as if he killed all mankind, UNLESS the victim happened to be a Jew or a Christian who refused to submit to Allah. In that case, his punishment would NOT be execution, or crucifixion, or having his limbs amputated, etc. He might even get a reward.

Ritamalik, who did the hard work of listening to the Arabic in the video to determine what the imam actually said, had this to say about the redacted translation:

The only verse from surah 5 that was recited was verse 32 in its entirety. But it was not translated in its entirety. The parts that I marked in red were recited in Arabic but not translated into English. Obviously verse 33 was not recited even in Arabic, because it is one of the most violent verses in the Quran, and it absolutely negates everything that verse 32 says. Also I assume that the imam neglected to translate the beginning of the verse 32, because it says that the peaceful sounding commands in verse 32 applied to the children of Israel and not to Muslims since, the Muslims have to follow this command in verse 33.

I only wish someone in the widespread media would dare to expose this often half-quoted verse by Muslim apologists once and for all, and explain that the best verse that they could find in Quran to show that Islam is peaceful is actually fake, and the real command is to kill and crucify and amputate limbs!

Global Warming: All That Sneet and Snow

The snow for today which was predicted to be two inches turned into five inches (12.7 centimeters?) before it turned again, this time into sneet – sleet and icy rain and snow. That’s on top of the however many inches we’ve had through the week. I’ve lost count and I’ve no desire to step out onto that china glaze surface to check.

When the lights flickered a moment ago, the Baron went to draw extra water: no electricity means the pump at the well house doesn’t run so we have to rely on whatever we’ve accumulated before it goes out. Most times we end up dumping out the water because the electricity stays on… but I want to avoid being without.

Meanwhile, I thought we should warn y’all of impending electric “outages”. The situation has much improved over several years ago, but still the geographical reality sometimes trumps my wishes for a horse. There are miles and miles of power lines coming down the mountains. Sometimes the ice load is too much and they fall, or a tree full of ice falls on a few of them or some other trick card Mother Nature has up her sleeve is plonked triumphantly on the table: we lose.

Thanks to the kindness of our donors a few years back, we now stay warm with our gas range/oven no matter what those electric lines do. It’s ever so much nicer to cook with gas than with electricity. But oh my! It is when these Winter Winds howl that the little pilot lights especially warm my heart.

All of which is to say if we lose our connection, we lose our water and we lose our ability to let in comments. Wish we had a gas-generated computer back-up (joke!).

I’m not too concerned: the temperatures are steadily rising though as night moves in, that rise will slow a bit. But… tomorrow it will be in the 50s here (Fahrenheit. Y’all check the Centigrade, please). Looking ahead, there is no sign of snow until this time next week. Compared to large sections of the continent we are most fortunate.

The New Barbary Coast

Three days ago Vlad Tepes posted photos of an Islamic State convoy in the town of Sirte on the Libyan coast. A smaller version of one of the images is below; see Vlad’s place for the rest.

To highlight the new political order in Sirte, the following story was published the next day by Breitbart:

Italy Prepares for Potential ISIS Air Attack

According to recent reports, the Italian Secret Service fears an air attack by ISIS, compounding the already existent danger of terrorist infiltration among with throngs of immigrants coming to Italy by boat from neighboring Libya.

Several days ago, the air defense system went into high alert after the secret service sent a notice.

The notice spoke of aircraft prepared to take off from Sirte and able to strike the Italian peninsula. Though this has not yet occurred, tensions remain high because of the strong risk of an attack carried out by “lone wolves” as occurred in Paris and in Copenhagen.

The recent ISIS beheading video was reportedly shot somewhere in the vicinity of Derna, far to the east of Sirte, near Benghazi — which is also said to be largely under the control of the Islamic State. The eastern part of Libya is now an ISIS stronghold, but according to former Libyan Prime Minister Ali Zeidan, groups affiliated with the Islamic State are present in most major cities in Libya.

On February 13 the Italian foreign ministry said that ISIS affiliates were staging attacks in Tripoli, the Libyan capital, and had captured radio and TV stations in Sirte. There have also been reports of ISIS groups in Misrata.

More recently, the prime minister of the rump Libyan government based in Tobruk said that the Islamic State “continues to spread and take more terrain” and “their flags can be seen in Tripoli, Sabratha, Sirte and Ben Jawad”.

Looking across the western border of Libya into Tunisia, we learn that radical Islamic groups are attacking security forces in the Kasserine region. Those Tunisian mujahideen are not specifically identified as ISIS affiliates. However, since one of the groups is named “Ansar al-Sharia”, we may assume it is only a matter of time before they declare their allegiance to Caliph Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, as so many other jihad groups in the region have already done.

So what is all this ISIS activity leading up to?

Well, if we pay attention to what the Islamic State itself says, its strategic goals are fairly clear. It has promised that it will send 500,000 jihad fighters across the Mediterranean, specifically to Italy. And it has created a Twitter hashtag, #We_Are_Coming_O_Rome.

In other words, the new Caliphate intends to accomplish what previous Caliphs never managed to achieve: the conquest of Rome.

Let’s pull all these bits and pieces together on a map so we can see them more clearly:

Act Quickly, This Won’t Be Around Long – and Neither Will A Lot of Us

No doubt regular readers have noticed our list of books on the sidebar.

I was looking for the pdf of Sir Gregory Copley’s earlier book, but instead came across a wonderful offer: a free download of the pdf of his current book, UnCivilization: Urban Geopolitics in a Time of Chaos (2012).

Amazon’s blurb [edited] says this about UNCiv:

When do civilizations begin … and end? And how?

Is this what we are witnessing as the 21st Century matures?

And as a totally new global architecture presents us with an unrecognizable world what does it all mean for the stability of nations-states, the prosperity of societies, the way we live and wage wars over the coming decades?

This study in Grand Strategy, Uncivilization: Urban Geopolitics in a Time of Chaos, outlines how we are already entering an age in which global population levels will begin to decline substantially, even as urbanization and economically- and security-driven transnational migration gather pace.

Population decline and movement patterns are also intersecting with economic, scientific, and power projection patterns, while urban social attitudes – the politics of urban societies – have created a revolutionary new political, social, and strategic reality. And urban man has also become electrical man, totally dependent on modern forms of energy. So the book looks at how energy dependency patterns are changing the opportunities and vulnerabilities of society.

The author, with five decades of work in military, intelligence and security studies, looks at how future warfare will be conducted, including cyber warfare and intelligence, and in the area of global logistics. This book shows that changes in the global strategic architecture mean that we really are engaged in an entirely new game. It’s time to learn the rules.

Grab it while you can. This Australian polymath predicts quite plausibly what’s coming with the global demographic implosion due around mid-century. Sure, many of us won’t be here in thirty years, but for those who want their children prepared, be sure to read this newer book.

This book could be alternately titled, “How I Quit Worrying and Learned to Love the Unpredictable”

Download “UnCivilization” here.

Sir Gregory’s writing style is clear and easy to read. Be sure to come back and let us know what you think. Be prepared, though: this book is descriptive. He’s not offering solutions. The global situation is far too complex for easy answers.

I do hope Israel and Australia are still around then. The world will need their complementary intelligence and energies. We know Australia will have to have a firm hand with China as a major trading partner. What the future holds for Israel is too uncertain in this increasingly corrupt world.

For those who believe carbon tax schemes are a good idea, here is his earlier book in pdf form. It was co-authored with two other strategists but a particular chapter he wrote predicted what would happen in Australia if the left got in and imposed those poverty-inducing carbon tax schemes. It proved all too true. Fortunately, Australian voters kicked the bums out and PM Abbott was called in to restore order.

Oh how I wish America could do that before we’re saddled with the next of Obama’s “signature” disasters. He’s planning a carbon tax scheme for us, too. Our president doesn’t do strategy, but he’s great at following his agenda down to the very last destructive line item. The title of the agenda? How to Destroy America in Eight Years or Less. He’s right on schedule, too.

Here’s Copley’s page of books some of which I hadn’t seen till now.

As you can tell, I’m a fan.

Gates of Vienna News Feed 2/20/2015

In the wake of ISIS’ recent execution of 21 Egyptian Christians near the Libyan town of Derna, Egyptian citizens are fleeing Libya and returning to Cairo. Meanwhile, the religious police of the Islamic State in Libya made bonfires of cigarettes and musical instruments, which are forbidden by Islam.

In other news, between five hundred and a thousand “Danish” “youths” attended the funeral of Omar El-Hussein in Copenhagen.

Ten Years On

Ten Years On
by Fjordman

Today, February 20 2015, is exactly ten years since the first time I published an essay under the pen name Fjordman. Time flies. I had been active on the Internet for several years before that date, but I did not have my own website. I did not imagine that I would still be writing so many years later. Yet here I am.

The first essay I published as Fjordman was about the very high number of rapes in Sweden, and how this may be tied to mass immigration. I no longer write about this subject as much as before, but the number of rapes in Sweden is at least as high ten years later.

I was among the first to discuss in English the problems caused by Muslim immigration in Malmö, Sweden’s third largest city. I was often accused of exaggerating or making things up. Meanwhile, Malmö has evolved from stabbings to car bombings. Unfortunately, many of the problems I deal with in my essays have worsened, all over the Western world.

My first blog post got quite a few comments and thousands of readers. That is because it was linked to by Little Green Footballs (LGF). It is hard to believe now, but when I launched my Fjordman blog in February 2005, I got a lot of help from LGF. Back then, Charles Johnson’s LGF was still a large and relevant website. It helped point readers to myself, Gates of Vienna and many other writers such as Robert Spencer and Pamela Geller.

I recently visited LGF, which I had not done for a very long time. Charles Johnson still posts. On Google, he is now called a “political blogger, center-left provocateur.”

Those who have followed my writings since the beginning will recall that the period of the LGF Wars was one of the nastiest events I experienced as Fjordman (until Mr. Breivik showed up). That was when Charles Johnson decided to suddenly switch sides and attack all of his former allies in the nastiest and most dishonest manner possible.

In hindsight, we clearly won this conflict. Today, Mr. Johnson is completely irrelevant, whereas I, Gates of Vienna — and for that matter Robert Spencer at Jihad Watch — are still publishing and actually being read.

The Jew-Haters of Antifa

As reported in the French media, hundreds of Jewish graves in the Sarre-Union cemetery in Alsace were recently vandalized and defaced. Since the story first hit the news, it has been determined that the leader of the crew that desecrated the cemetery was a member of Antifa, the hard-Left “anti-fascists”.

Marine Le Pen, the leader of Front National, made a few remarks about what happened in Sarre-Union. Many thanks to Vlad Tepes for subtitling this video:

A Notice to the Commenter With Many Names

To the commenter who has taken various aliases in rapid succession:

You must settle on a single pseudonym and stick to it. I don’t mind people who choose anonymity, but your fellow commenters deserve to know that they’re conversing with the same person on different occasions.

I have the advantage of being able to see your IP address, which allows me to determine that the following commenters are in fact the same person:

  • Instantbull
  • Basically
  • Mind Crossed
  • Breathe Deep
  • Har Dhar
  • Ist Hatso
  • Heading off to the races
  • Sweden Agogo
  • Mien Gott

And that’s just in the past twelve hours or so.

I consider this a subtle form of trolling, and I will no longer put up with it. If you persist in submitting two or more comments in succession with different nicks, I will no longer approve any of them.

Sweden has decided to take away the passports of any “Swedish” citizens who have journeyed abroad to wage jihad for ISIS. Once they return to Sweden, they will not be able to leave. After that… well, it’s not certain what will happen after that. But at least they won’t be able to kill any more people in Iraq, Syria, Libya, etc.

In other news, Pope Francis met with representatives of the Italian coast guard to commend them for rescuing thousands of migrant boat people who might otherwise have drowned while attempting to cross the Mediterranean to Italy.

A Troubling Past

Yet another “American” imam has given the Quebec government heartburn. A fellow named Siraj Wahhaj — who is alleged to be a co-conspirator in the first World Trade Center attack in 1993 — was scheduled to speak to an audience at Islamic Relief Canada in Brossard, a suburb of Montreal. The brand of cultural enrichment preached by Mr. Wahhaj proved to be to rich for the authorities’ blood, and the event was cancelled.

Many thanks to Vlad Tepes for subtitling this news video:

Below is an article on the same topic from TVA Nouvelles in Quebec, as translated by CB Sahsenka:

Another Event with a Controversial Imam Cancelled

By Pierre-Olivier Zappa

After the Shariah Academy of North America was forced to change its plans this past weekend, it was the turn of Islamic Relief Canada, a charity, to cancel its event with an imam who has a disturbing past.

A decision that comes after J.E. (TVA’s investigative reporting) report on religious radicals invited to preach in the Montreal area.

This time it was a conference that was supposed to be held on Saturday at the mosque in Brossard, to be led by a controversial imam from the United States, Siraj Wahhaj.

The organizers confirmed to TVA News that the event is cancelled, mainly because of J.E.’s findings.

We learned that this imam has a disturbing past: he is deemed by the FBI a co-conspirator of the first World Trade Center attack in 1993. However, he was never charged.

Many of his speeches and sermons are about the U.S. government, which he considers to be the real terrorist that must be fought.

He also believes that Muslims should refuse to integrate into the host society, and instead impose their own customs.

The imam was supposed to appear in Brossard by invitation of Islamic Relief Canada, a charity that has received a grant of $1.5 million from the federal government.

Praying for Omar

The spot on Svanevej in Copenhagen where police shot Omar el-Hussein to death last Sunday morning has become a place of pilgrimage for “Danish” Muslims. “Youths” from the surrounding area have vowed to return to the spot every Friday and pray for their departed comrade.

Many thanks to Liberty DK for translating this article from Jyllands-Posten:

Every Friday from now on we will pray for Omar

Monday’s unofficial commemoration of the alleged assailant, Omar Abdel Hamid el-Hussein, escalated in a very short time. Every Friday from now prayers will be said for him.

Terror in Copenhagen — Nola Grace Gaardmand

42-year-old Bilal Gurleyek kneels down and puts a note on the ground. He puts it in front of the many flowers that passers-by had, throughout the day laid on the ground in front of the place where the 22-year-old Omar Abdel Hamid el-Hussein was shot and killed by police on Sunday night.

On the note Bilal Gurleyek writes that this place will be a meeting place for the country’s many Muslims.

“I put a great distance between myself and his actions, and I have a big problem with Islamists. But I have come here today because he was born a Muslim, and he died as a Muslim and as a Muslim I feel it is my duty to come here and pray for him,” says Bilal Gurleyek who knew the presumed perpetrator, and who will now start a new tradition in Nørrebro’s Northwest district of Copenhagen:

Every Friday he intends to invite other Muslims from the neighborhood to come and pray for Omar Abdel Hamid el-Hussein’s “Muslim soul”. Already, Bilal Gurleyek has spoken with numerous men from the neighborhood, who also intend to make Svanevej a place of prayer every Friday.

We will not distance ourselves

Throughout the whole day the street was teeming with journalists, police and local residents. Some of those present knew the alleged offender, while others just came by to show support for the family of the deceased.

While the vast majority of observers whom Jyllands-Posten spoke with during the day took strong exception to Saturday’s terrorist act, there were other attendees who explicitly did not want to distance themselves from the act:

“Why don’t you distance yourselves from Jews who kill our children and rape our women in Palestine? Why should we Muslims distance ourselves?” said one of those present to Jyllands-Posten before continuing with raised voice and big arm movements, until he finally was yelling very loudly:

“We will not distance ourselves. It is our duty as Muslims to stand together. No, a Muslim does not distance himself from one who loves the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, saws sallam (peace and blessings be upon him, ed.). This man has felt pity for the suffering of Muslims in Palestine, he has a heart of gold. Look, there are lots of flowers — it is proof that people are proud of this man, because he sacrificed his life for what he believed in” he said.

Those Unfortunate “Danish” “Youths”

The young culture-enrichers in Copenhagen who removed flowers from where Omar el-Hussein was shot and killed last Sunday are unhappy with the way they are treated in Denmark. They feel “discriminated against”

The following report from a Dutch news site, as translated by SimonXML, was originally published at Vlad Tepes in a slightly different form:

Youth say they feel ‘discriminated against’

On Monday, masked and unmasked Muslim youths removed flowers in Copenhagen from the place where the Islamic terrorist Omar el-Hussein was shot dead by police on Sunday. According to the youths, flowers at a memorial monument are in conflict with the Islamic tradition. It is not known who placed the flowers there earlier.

The youths hung a plaque with the text: “In the name of Allah Most Gracious Most Merciful. May Allah have mercy. The location of your home is paradise. Goodbye my dear one” and “rest in peace”.

The youths say they are the “brothers” of the shot 22-year-old terrorist.

They did not respond to questions from the Danish media, but sources at the Danish TV2 say that young people feel “discriminated against” in Danish society. They also believe that the media works with “double standards”, as there is hardly any attention when a Muslim is killed.

After the young people had removed the flowers they shouted “Allahu akhbar” several times.

Yet Another Misunderstood Muslim

The Director of Point de Bascule, the well-known Canadian investigative site, was interviewed by Montreal’s LCN/TVA reporter and news anchor Michel Jean on February 15, 2015.

After the Montreal Outremont borough issued a press release Saturday morning saying it had made the decision that an event would not be held in the city’s cultural center following “disturbing information” broadcast on the TVA Nouvelles network Friday, the network’s investigative show J.E. said two fundamentalist imams — Salah Assawy and Omar Shahin —were leading an event organized by a Shariah Academy where diplomas in Islamic studies would be handed out.

Following this event, LCN/TVA’s journalist Marie-Laure Delainey interviewed, after difficult negotiations, one of the two leaders behind the shariah academy graduation event, Omar Shahin. Following the excerpt between Delainey and Shahin, Michel Jean interviewed the director of Point de Bascule to expose Shahin’s disturbing links with Islamic radical organizations and individuals who were directly associated with Osama Bin Laden, the late Al Qaeda leader.

Many thanks to Vlad Tepes for subtitling this video. Note: the original interview was conducted in English, and then aired with a French voiceover. As a result, the subtitled version is not a synchronized word-for-word match with the English that is sometimes audible in the background:
