Czech President to the OIC: No Apology

As I mentioned a couple of weeks ago, President Miloš Zeman of the Czech Republic had some forthright things to say about Islam at a closed-door reception to celebrate Israel’s Independence Day. The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) took note of Mr. Zeman’s speech, expressed its disappointment and disapproval, and demanded an apology.

True to form, the Czech president has declined to apologize for his words, giving a sound theological justification for his decision. Our Czech correspondent Gemini has translated the quote released in the Czech media, and includes this note:

There is only a brief response from Miloš Zeman. The media quote only those two sentences; the rest of their reports consist of quotations of parts of his previous speech, the OIC’s response, etc.

The translated excerpt from idNES.cz:

President Miloš Zeman is not going to apologise for his statements in which he linked Islamic ideology with violence. His words were conveyed by his spokesperson Jiří Ovčáček: “President Zeman definitely does not intend to apologise. For the president would consider it blasphemy to apologise for the quotation of a sacred Islamic text.”

As far as I am aware, Miloš Zeman is the first Western head of state ever to tell the OIC to go jump in a lake. So this is an historic occasion.

  1. Didn’t think he would. He is more astute than the Pope, unfortunately.

  2. Bully for him. Very encouraging. His honesty is bracing. Would that he had a counterpart in American politics–on the right, preferably.

  3. There’s nothing worse to a Mohammedan than an infidel knowing Islam’s texts inform the Muslim’s intent.

  4. President Miloš Zeman’s blasphemy rebuke is absolutely brilliant. 🙂

  5. Pure beauty and a touch of irony put in an to the point statement. Within a glimmer of hope which struck me with joy. Indeed an historical occasion. Thank you for reporting.

  6. Zeman is well known master of trolling. I also like this one: “A peaceful muslim is the same contradictio in adjecto as a peaceful nazi.”

    or this one:

Israeli TV: “Do you imply that there are similarities between Hitler’s Third Reich to Arafat’s Palestinian Authority?”

Milos Zeman: “Of course, it is. First of all, let us define the terrorism. The terrorism I think is the political movement which uses the civic victim as a tool for political tasks. Let me finish by some English slogan. If it looks like a duck, if it goes like a duck, if it cries like a duck, and if it tastes like a duck, it is a duck.”

    • He’s no quack; rather, a great man!! Perhaps he will invite Israel’s newly elected (titular) President Rivlin to Prague?!

      • It’s very likely, Rivlin has Prague ancestors. And aside of that, Zeman visited Isreal few months ago.

  7. Compare this heroic stand of Milos Zeman with what you-know-whom said in front of the UN Assembly General on Sept.25, 2012, about protecting the Prophet…

    • Are the European LIARS and COWARDS going to pressure him to apologize. Is there among the LIARS (= politicians) a man who will rear his her head to support him honorably. Wake up EUROPE. KNIGHTS were produced here: Their mottoes: tell the truth, care for the weak and women, defend your country honorable, no fleeing from the battlefield. Crush your enemies : don’t appease them because it is useless.

  8. Can we trade him for some born-in-America commie, then run him for office? Any office. But I’d really like to see him in the House or Senate.

  9. ” For the president would consider it blasphemy to apologise for the quotation of a sacred Islamic text.”
The west has only one man. What a pity. Europe, the west in general need such men. He is worth one million priests and 200 popes. He is telling the truth, the truth will set us free from future invasion in pain. We need men and women like him to tell Europe again that there is honor and to show them what honor is, and what it looks like. It has shape, face, being. It motivates it elevates the human spirit and brow. You don’t wear a rein if OIC tell you, you are a horse. You resist, you assert yourself and what you believe in. Western LIARS don’t believe in anything. It is a blasphemy not to tell the truth about Islam.

    • President Zeman seems like he is from the ex-Communist “old school” of leftists… who are generally too corrupt to be true leftists, and lack any of the “multicultural sensitivity training” of the new breed of leftists. Generally, in Eastern Europe such ex-Communists get elected after the public become disenchanted with the previous right-wing, anti-Communist president or government.

  10. Good for him. It’s about time a western politican told the OIC where to go. Their reaction will be interesting. Oil embargo anyone?

    • Seeing as the Czech republic is landlocked and in Eastern Europe, and hence firmly in the “Putinsphere” as far as energy supplies go, such an embargo may not be easy to accomplish… but I do hope they try it!

      • They will not do a thing. They can only threaten those who bow them. Those who have guts and show them a fist – frighten them to the death.

  11. So, “round 2 begins”… Are we then to expect, in around 6 months’ time, a mass display of “peaceful behaviour” from the followers of the Religion of Peace, focusing on all things Czech?? As a positive though, before this happens, the next few months may mean an increase in sales for exporters of Czech flags to Islamic countries.

    • @green infidel: I love your hilarious comment, its funny if not sad:
“As a positive though, before this happens, the next few months may mean an increase in sales for exporters of Czech flags to Islamic countries.”
