The Mightier Pen

As reported here back in September, Center for Security Policy honored Diana West with the this year’s “Mightier Pen” award. The award ceremony took place today at the Union League Club on East 37th Street in New York City. The room was filled to capacity, with at least 120 people present.

Before her acceptance speech, Ms. West was introduced by the historian M. Stanton Evans, who can be seen at the left in the photo below:

I don’t have any close-up photos, but I understand that a video recording was made, and will be available later.

A standing ovation for the author of American Betrayal:

Many thanks to Christine Brim for the photos.

  1. Aside from the ongoing analytical diagnosis Diana West (et al.) has been performing on the Body Politic, auscultating heretofore hidden, or under-diagnosed, or misdiagnosed, cancers therein, another parallel investigation-cum-analysis needs to developed which would navigate the largely ignored strait between two imaginary constructs: a crypto-totalitarian cabal that is presumed to be already in power and Macchiavellianly manipulating us now, on the one hand, and a Horowitzian-Radoshian optimism on the other hand — such that the paradox of a deep infiltration of Communism into the warp and woof of our society that yet allows the freedom of Diana West, M. Stanton Evans, Frank Gaffney, Robert Spencer, and numerous others.

I.e., obviously the West is neither done for nor doomed, but it is in danger. Both sides of this need to be analyzed with care, lest either side acquire too much speculative weight and botch the analysis.

  2. Incomplete sentence there:

“…such that the paradox of a deep infiltration of Communism into the warp and woof of our society that yet allows the freedom of Diana West, M. Stanton Evans, Frank Gaffney, Robert Spencer, and numerous others, may be illuminated.”

  3. She deserves all the praise she gets. Its fantastic that Gaffney’s group has done this – you’re all the real deal – real guts & integrity.

  4. Bravo!
best revenge, with all the misanthropes, 3 aging detractors,
a nasty campaign of the “owners” of the era.
