Radical Islam in Ontario

Back in January a group of Islamic terrorists attacked a natural gas plant near In Amenas, Algeria, kidnapping more than 800 people, including 132 foreign nationals. When Algerian special forces stormed the site, dozens of people were killed, including most of the terrorists.

The revelation that two young Canadians from London, Ontario were among the deceased leaders of the attack has caused severe public-relations indigestion among Muslim leaders in London. Vlad Tepes has compiled a video showing the attempts by a spokesman for the London mosque to deflect any negative publicity from his community. Using various sources, Vlad provides additional material demonstrating why all that bad PR is well-deserved:

“Radicalization is not limited to religious centres,” says the Canadian Security Intelligence Service report, titled Venues of Sunni Islamist Radicalization in Canada.

“As this assessment has demonstrated, a large number of venues have been, and continue to be used to further Islamist extremist ideology. … As radicalization is usually a social process, it can occur wherever humans interact, in the real world or virtual ones,” it says.

  1. Another article gave the methodology the Muslim associations use. In a moderate organization or mosque, there is usually an individual, or small number of individuals, who look for Muslims who are open to more violent forms of observing Islam. These individuals are then drawn into radical thinking and activities on an individual basis.

    This serves the dual purpose of presenting a moderate front to the rest of society, and building up the base of Muslims who are willing to push for Islamization of the host society, both through political or violent means. The sophistication of the Muslim undermining of our political structure should not be underestimated.

    Fortunately, in the US and Canada, overtly violent activities are not yet sanctioned by the Muslim groups, as their political relations campaigns are so wildly successful. We can look forward to situations like those encountered in Sweden and France, as the proportion of Muslim population and influence grow to the point that there is a political price to be paid for reigning in Islamist activities.
