Speech given by Lars Hedegaard to the Danish Free Press Society
February 21, 2013

Lars Hedegaard is the chairman of Trykkefrihedsselskabet (The Danish Free Press Society) and the editor-in-chief of Dispatch International. Earlier this month a would-be assassin disguised as a postman attempted to kill Mr. Hedegaard outside his apartment in Copenhagen.

Yesterday he appeared in public for the first time since the attempted assassination and spoke to a gathering at Trykkefrihedsselskabet in Copenhagen.

Islam in the UK

Enza Ferreri’s latest essay concerns the Islamization of Britain, as observed from where she lives in West London.

Islam in the UK
by Enza Ferreri

This is the view from Londonistan, Absurd Britannia, Eurabia.

Raymond Ibrahim, a scholar of Arab and Islam history born in the USA of Egyptian Coptic parents, often writes about the condition of Christians in Muslim-majority countries, where they are subjugated and oppressed, even when they are a sizeable minority in places like Egypt, Syria and, before the “ethnic cleansing”, Iraq.

This is the complementary view, the one from historically Christian Western Europe, where Muslims are still (although not for long) a small minority, smaller than the Christians in the aforementioned countries. Even in these entirely different situations Muslims, aided by the Left and coward governments, are still acting like masters, thinking that everything is due to them and trying to impose their ideology on everybody else.

I came to live in London from Italy in 1984, and the changes I witnessed since then are earth-shattering.

When I first arrived here, the word “halal” was unknown to everybody except the people involved in animal welfare, who knew that the Islamic method of slaughter was bad news indeed for the animals. Now you only have to take a 30-minute drive around London (any part) and you’ll see dozens of Halal signs in shops and restaurants. In the area where I live in West London, which is by no means a Muslim ghetto because many non-Muslim whites and blacks reside here, in the street you see women whose attire would make the strictest Taliban happy — or at least you think they must be women, since all you can see is a walking robe with no eyes.

The following are some among the myriad examples of Muslim intolerance and lack of integration, stealth jihad and creeping sharia in the United Kingdom.

A few years ago a Muslim policeman refused to wear his uniform due to the presence of a cross on it.

The typical phenomenon of Muslim men grooming young white girls, for years denounced only by right-wing groups who as a result were accused of racism and Islamophobia, turned out to be real and now the mainstream media have started covering it.

There have been instances of Muslim girls rejecting their school uniform and demanding to wear Muslim clothing, sometimes even suing the school using the European Convention on Human Rights and winning the case.

Update on the Prospect Shooting

I posted last night about a home invasion in Prospect (which is not far away from where we live). Two suspects were shot dead at the scene by a homeowner who exercised his Second Amendment rights to protect his family.

Below is a follow-up report on the incident from Richmond TV. Many thanks to Vlad Tepes for uploading this video:

By the way — my conclusion in the comments on last night’s post was correct, based on the above video and this report from WRIC, which says: “It is believed that the suspect, described only as a black male, got into a vehicle on Route 460.”

Below is the article from WTVR that accompanied the video:

Dad says he killed intruders while defending his home

PRINCE EDWARD COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) – The 25-year-old father who said he shot and killed two men who broke into his Prospect-area home Sunday morning told CBS 6 senior reporter Wayne Covil he did not know the men he killed.

The man said he and his two-year-old son were sleeping when he heard a loud crash inside his home off Route 460 early Sunday morning. The man said he grabbed a handgun and left his room to investigate. Soon he found three men inside his home.

The men exchanged gunfire that lasted less than a minute, the man said.

One of the intruders died in the man’s home, a second man died in the front lawn. The third suspect got away from the home.

How Much Did The PST Know, And When Did It Know It?

Here’s a brief follow-up on the previous post from The Observer, who translated the article:

There are a couple of things worth pointing out in connection with the revelations presented in the article:

Assuming the the claims made in this article are true, did Høibø notify the PST about Breivik’s radicalism?

Did the SOS Rasisme and Tjen Folket representatives involved in the NDL in any way influence Breivik ideologically — i.e. fire him up with anti-government/anti-Muslim rhetoric, the very thing that the Left has claimed that the conservative community in Norway were responsible for? And has this been investigated by the PST?

Håvar Krane was egged on to make the infamous death threats against leading Norwegian politicians by the same left-wing agitators within the NDL who then secretly recorded it and leaked it to the press.

If the PST was made aware of Breivik, then why did they claim that Breivik flew under the radar during the court case? There are now three known incidents that should have made the alarm bells go off at the PST in regards to Breivik, and they are as follows:

The Norwegian Defence League: A Creature of the PST?

The following article from Dagbladet reveals that the Norwegian Defence League was created and nurtured by the Norwegian Security Police (PST). During its early days, three of its six leaders were PST agents, and the man who initiated the creation of the NDL was an agent for multiple organizations — he infiltrated the leadership of “anti-racist” and communist organizations as well.

I can’t help but be reminded of the fact that Stalin was a double agent for the Okhrana, the Czar’s secret intelligence service, before the Bolshevik Revolution. The Okhrana thus unwittingly helped engineer the overthrow of the Russian state.

The PST in effect built the NDL, which Anders Behring Breivik later joined. The NDL then allegedly contributed to Mr. Breivik’s radicalization.

So I guess you might say the PST were “Breivik’s mentors”.

Many thanks to our Norwegian correspondent The Observer for the translation:

Spy-coup despite the lack of approval from the PST

Joined forces with those he was supposed to spy on

Dagbladet has information that confirms that the PST spy Christian Høibø took the initiative to create the anti-Islamic organization the Norwegian Defence League (NDL). Høibø also appointed the leaders of the organization on three separate occasions

The PST spy appointed:

  • Håvar Krane as the NDL’s first leader
  • Lena Andreassen as the successor
  • Recruit Ronny Alte to NDL

A planned ploy

The task of building up an enemy organization was performed by the PST spy Høibø in agreement with SOS Rasisme and the Marxist-Maoists in Tjen Folket (Serve the People).

“It was a assignment that he undertook without our knowing,” says Høibø’s case officer in the PST to Dagbladet.

Høibø reported back to the PST on his role in the NDL and he supplied the PST with inside information. The PST never attempted to stop him. He also supplied information to SOS Rasisme and Tjen Folket.

This information has been confirmed by Bard Frantzen, former member of the leadership of SOS Rasisme and Tjen Folket. Frantzen was unaware of Høibø’s status as a PST agent.

“In my opinion this means that the PST established NDL. Høibø built up the NDL in the period when Breivik joined and became radicalized. In that regard it appears that PST helped build the milieu where Breivik found his inspiration prior to executing the attack. That is pretty bad,” says Frantzen.

Dagbladet has previously reported that Høibø claims that it was he who excluded Anders Behring Breivik from the NDL.

NDL was founded at Lorry (bar in downtown Oslo)

The establishment of the NDL began at Lorry in 2010. The first meeting was initiated by Høibø. Present at the meeting were the PST agent and two members of SOS Rasisme.

Høibø told Frantzen that the poorly organized NDL Facebook network with approximately 500 members could be built into a functioning organization.

“I was one of those present at Lorry that day. Høibø’s plan was to establish a solid organizational structure, a workable membership register, and organize right-wing demonstrations,” says Frantzen.

“I was negative about the plans, because the methods that Høibø proposed were dangerous and could cause great damage to the anti-racist work.”

Tommy Robinson is a Free Man Again

Tommy Robinson, the leader of the English Defence League, was released from prison today. I’m told that his early release was every bit as much of a surprise to him as it was to the rest of us.

Here’s the report from the EDL website:

Tommy The Free Man

It is with great pleasure we can announce that Tommy Robinson has been freed from prison!

Tommy applied for release on tag more than 7 weeks ago and today is the day of his release.

Obviously he has conditions for his release which we will update you all on in due course.

Tommy has asked us to thank everyone on his behalf for the support all loyal EDL have shown him through the very darkest of days. He wants to thank all of our international friends for their constant campaigning, for their vigils and their unflinching, unrelenting efforts to apply pressure across the globe.

The EDL, Alinksy, and an Earthquake in British Politics

An interesting discussion has developed in the comments section of Tuesday’s post about journalism and the legacy media. A commenter named Joe, who is relatively new to Gates of Vienna, has been making some important observations about Alinskyites, the far Left, and the English Defence League. By now that thread has only a few readers left, so his latest comment is reproduced below.

Joe highlights the same thing that I have said many times — the political Left is by no means the only force massing against the Counterjihad. The Cameron government is persecuting the EDL as vigorously as its Labour predecessor did. Republicans in the United States, ostensibly “conservative” protectors of American values and culture, fall all over themselves to placate Islam and condemn the “intolerance” and “bigotry” of people like Geert Wilders.

It was not a leftist publication that created this capsule depiction of the English Defence League:

This was published in 2011 in National Review to accompany an article on the EDL by Anthony Daniels (a.k.a. Theodore Dalrymple). Dr. Daniels and NR are hardly liberals or leftists. NR is one of the primary bastions of American conservatism.

This is what our so-called “friends on the Right” are doing to us.

No, it is not the Left that is the biggest problem. The whole political establishment across the entire Western world has mobilized against “Islamophobia”. Elected politicians of all political stripes, the permanent bureaucracy, the media, and the academy are almost universal in their condemnation of what we do.

That makes the Right the bigger problem, because everyone already knows the Left is the enemy of people like us. Yet people think “conservatives” are different, that they are simply like-minded people who somehow haven’t quite come around yet, and will in due course become our staunch allies. I have seen zero evidence to support this assertion during my nine years in this line of work, but many of my fellow anti-sharia activists persist in believing it.

Saudi money may be one explanation for the persistent affection that the Right has for Islam. Their attachment to the existing power structure — which provides them with so much power, so many perks, and as much lucre as they can jam into their already over-filled pockets — may be another one. But in any case, the Right remains as much of an obstacle to what we do as the Left.

We truly are the Shadow Culture.

Comment by Joe (edited for punctuation, capitalization, and typos)

Not sure I would be quite so quick in describing the EDL as a success story adhering to Alinsky though. Most of what they did involved street protests — and only that. I believe Alinsky advocated letter-writing and even “mass farting” at a classical concert — as well as ridiculing and lampooning of opponents. Not sure the EDL did much of that.

I didn’t say they’d read Alinsky and used it as a catechism. The street protests involved aspects that other political groups didn’t. They made protesting into “a day out”. Those who were not stalwarts were even known as “day trippers”. The establishment, the Left, and academics were all taken aback by EDL because it was something new. There are two groups of sociologists at British universities who have been studying EDL precisely because it was a new kind of protest movement.

EDL was involved in plenty of letter-writing, and phone call campaigns. They went into the meetings of the SWP and the UAF and took them over or disrupted them. The communists were completely unused to their enemy doing things like that.

EDL would go into Tower Hamlets any time they wanted. The police begged them to stop doing it. The demonstrations were only the most visible aspect of what EDL did. And they did it with a conscious idea that they would bankrupt local councils by the cost of policing. I heard it from some of the leaders themselves, and I was surprised that they were operating at such a strategic level.

But the EDL’s opponents — being mostly seasoned far-leftists — certainly ridiculed and demonised the EDL, and even propagated the ridiculous view that the EDL were “racist”, in a way that would make Alinsky proud. It led even the prime minister, David Cameron, to be a signatory of the EDL’s main opponents — United Against Fascism. And now the main thrust of opposing the EDL doesn’t even have to be the UAF — but mainstream journalists (even those on the right) and the likes of the “English Disco Lovers”.

Almost no damage to EDL was inflicted by the far left. The damage was done by the establishment: the media, the police, the courts, and no doubt government agents fomenting internal dissent (the police had fifteen infiltrators/provocateurs in the Green Movement, some working undercover for as much as ten years — of course, they must have had at least that number in EDL fomenting dissent). And EDL must take some of the blame too. Despite them not being a racist organisation, they failed to publicise that (e.g. by putting images from demos of white and brown and black people on their website). However, even to do that brings charges of “racism” from those who are determined that EDL must be seen as evil.

EDL offered an opportunity for many different groups who had suffered from decades of Islamic invasion to come together. But instead Jews, gays, Muslim women etc. lined up with the media and politicians to castigate EDL. EDL was the opportunity for Britain not to descend into civil war. People have made their choice, and civil war is what they will get. When the Jewish organisations, the gay organisations, and the right-wing press such as Daily Mail and Daily Express and Telegraph are insisting that EDL is “far right” and “racist”, don’t try and blame the far left. Is it the far left who have Tommy in prison for fraud, when Muslims who commit multi-million-pound fraud are given community service? Is it the far left who suspended a black Tory councillor because he expressed support for EDL? Was it a far-left government who banned demonstrations throughout London? Was it the far left judges who imposed ten-year banning orders on various EDL leaders?

If all you’ve got is a hammer, then everything looks like a nail. Again, it is a pathetic lack of vision on the part of those who consider themselves “right-wing”; they think that the whole process of Islamisation is being driven by “the far left” (those organisations Bat Ye’or has exposed are mostly not driven or managed by communists).

Shootout in Prospect

I’m posting the following video and article — which are not really on-topic for us — for two reasons:

1.   It’s a significant news story about an incident that occurred over the weekend in our local area.
2.   I’m fond of stories about parents who defend themselves and their children from deadly predators by exercising their Second Amendment Rights, thereby saving the Commonwealth of Virginia the expense of prosecuting and incarcerating the perpetrators.

Prospect is not all that far away from us. As a matter of interest — surely a coincidence — it lies roughly halfway between the Jamaat ul-Fuqra compounds in Red House and Meherrin (see the previous post). For those who live outside Southside Virginia, it’s on U.S. 460, the main highway from Petersburg to Lynchburg, just west of Farmville.

One thing puzzles me: how could anyone be so stupid as to break into an occupied house in the middle of the night way out in the boonies of Southside Virginia? Anyone who is not brain-dead knows that all the slack-jawed gap-toothed sister-marryin’ hicks out here are ARMED TO THE TEETH.

Well, two of these unfortunate imbeciles will have all of eternity to meditate on their foolishness. The other one was still at large at the time of this news report.

Many thanks to Vlad Tepes for uploading this video for me:

Here’s the accompanying article from NBC12 in Richmond:

Two suspects dead, one at large following home invasion

PRINCE EDWARD, VA (WWBT) – Prince Edward sheriff’s deputies are investigating a deadly home invasion that happened early Sunday morning in Prospect. Two of the three suspects are dead, shot by the homeowner in self defense, according to investigators on scene. Meanwhile, the search continues for the third suspect.

This situation began unfolding at about 4:30 a.m. in the 5000 block of Prince Edward Highway, or Route 460. Investigators told NBC12’s Kelly Avellino three unknown men forced their way in the front door of the home, where a man was alone with a 2-year-old child.

According to a press release issued by Sheriff Wesley W. Reed, that man called 911 to report a home invasion and said the suspects were armed. Reed also said gunfire was exchanged between the suspects and the caller.

Authorities said two suspects were pronounced dead at the scene, while the third managed to escape on foot.

Did Christian Action Network Defame the Muslims of America?

Long-time readers are familiar with Jamaat ul-Fuqra, an organization that was listed as a domestic terror group by the State Department. Its name means “Community of the Impoverished”; it is also known as “Muslims of America”, and sometimes calls itself “Muslims of the Americas”, since it claims franchises in Canada and the Caribbean. It was founded by a known terrorist, a Pakistani Sufi named Sheikh Mubarik Ali Hasmi Shah Gilani. Over the past thirty years it has established a network of dozens of rural training compounds across the United States and Canada. It recruits new members primarily by proselytizing in the prison system.

Martin Mawyer of the Christian Action Network published a book last fall about JuF entitled Twilight in America: the Untold Story of Islamic Terrorist Training Camps in America. He seems to have touched a nerve, because now the Muslims of America are filing a federal defamation lawsuit against Marty and CAN.

Before we get into the news story itself, here’s a promotional video about Marty’s book with footage of Jamaat ul-Fuqra:

The Courthouse News Service has the story of MOA’s lawsuit:

Muslims Claim Christian Group Defamed Them

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (CN) – The Muslims of America asked a federal judge to silence and punish the Christian Action Network and its founder, who allegedly defamed the group as terrorists, and their close-knit communities as Islamic training camps.

The Muslims of America Inc. sued Martin Mawyer and his Christian Action Network in Federal Court. It also sued Patti Pierucci, whom it describes as a ghostwriter and co-author with Mawyer of the book “Twilight in America: the Untold Story of Islamic Terrorist Training Camps in America.”

The group claims that the “provocative and defamatory statements” were made in the book, and “uttered by Mawyer on various media outlets including Fox News (October 2012) and posted on CAN’s website”.

Muslims of America claims the defendants’ libels and defamation “have served to cause fear and hatred to flourish against plaintiff while inciting violence and putting the lives of plaintiff’s members in danger for the purpose of monetary enrichment.”

The Muslims of America demands retractions and a gag order against further defamation. It also wants sales of the book “Twilight in America” enjoined.

It’s a Riot!

Beginning on September 11th of last year, a series of deadly riots engulfed Egypt, ostensibly caused by the YouTube video The Innocence of Muslims. A few days later James Watt, the British Ambassador to Egypt, was interviewed at length on a Cairo television station, and talked about the notorious Mohammed movie, among other topics.

Many thanks to Russkiy for the tip, and to Vlad Tepes for editing the video and adding archival material:

I recommend a visit to Mr. Watt’s blog . After hearing his comments in the interview, readers may not find his comments about Israel and “Zionists” all that surprising.

The Hon. Ambassador also posted an entry in Arabic on September 17, 2012, just after the violent riots in Egypt over the Mohammed movie. A machine translation is fairly coherent, and resembles what he had to say in the TV interview:

Building the future, and not destroy it
