Norway’s Love Affair With Communist Thugs

Utøya memorial

Our Norwegian correspondent The Observer sends his translation of an opinion piece about one of the admirers of Lenin and Che who played a prominent role at the recent commemoration ceremony on the island of Utøya.

The translator includes this note:

This op-ed was published a couple of days ago. It’s about the official first anniversary commemoration event on Utøya, and the Swedish musician who was invited to perform at the service. Wikipedia has some background info on Mikael Wiehe, the musician in question.

It is no secret that the AUF to a certain extent is a Marxist organization that has previously given their wholehearted support to various dictators and terrorist organizations. However, one would expect that they had re-evaluated their views on autocratic regimes and the use of terrorist tactics as a means to achieve political goals in the wake of the mass shooting on Utøya.

Unfortunately it seems that no such lessons have been learnt.

The translated op-ed from Dagbladet:

Glorifier of violence on Utøya

By Einar Kristian Steffenak
Lecturer and political commentator

Is it really appropriate to invite such a museum custodian and friend of dictatorships to be the main guest at the official one year commemoration event of the July 22 tragedy?

Many of us felt profound sympathy for the AUF members when we followed the televised commemoration from Utøya one year after the fascistic mass murderer went on a rampage there. Great speeches were delivered; great songs, great turnout and a moving speech delivered by Eskild Pedersen in which he also included those who were murdered at Government Square in Oslo. However, and unfortunately, I am left with a rather bitter aftertaste.

And this is due to the choice of the principal musician to perform on Utøya, an excellent artist, but also an old friend of communist dictatorships from the ‘70s, Mikael Wiehe. He still is by the way, but I wasn’t aware that the AUF share his views and I would rather prefer to believe that it isn’t so. Let’s take a look at the past and let’s shed light on some things that young people in Norway know very little about, and which has been underreported and neglected by the schools.

In the wake of the July 22 tragedy few TV reports made a stronger impression on me than the young leading member of AUF who was talking about the sheer hell on Utøya. Hanging on the wall behind him was a large picture of the violent communist Che Guevara. The picture was Alberto Cordes’ iconic “Guerilla Heroico” from 1960, a false romanticizing of a man who sent gays to labour camps to correct their “inclinations”. He was responsible for hundreds of executions after the revolution in 1959. He was an ideologically rigid communist representing a rigid repressive dictatorship. How do such people become heroes, and why is a picture of such a person hanging on a wall as a role model in an AUF office in 2011?

And then there’s Mikael Wiehe. In an op-ed on May 3, 2007 in the Swedish newspaper Dagens Nyheter he wrote:

“In the last 40 years Cuba is the country in the region that has done most to safeguard human rights.”

This is pretty hard-core stuff, and it gets even worse: On his album Ta det tilbaka (“Take It Back”) from 2010, he is rightly critical of the financial industry’s greed and its complicity to the financial crisis in 2008. He writes:

«Hater du dom jävlarna, som köper upp och lägger ner. Vill du skära dom i bitar och slå inn dom i paket? Drömmer du om hovuden som ligger i en korg? Vill du sätta upp en galge på närmaste stora torg?»

[“Do you hate the bastards that buy up and shut down? Do you want to cut them into pieces and beat them into parcels? Do you dream of the heads lying in the basket? Do you want to erect gallows in the nearest big square?”]

What is this? It’s good old fashioned Leninist hatred. It’s like reading the justification given by Beria, the chief of the NKVD (later the KGB) to Stalin — which the latter agreed to — to the killing of Polish leaders, including those murdered in the Katyn massacre in 1940. Should Wiehe be allowed to write this? Of course he should. Should he be allowed to sing it? Yes, definitely. But is it really appropriate to invite such a museum custodian and friend of dictatorships as the main guest to the official one year commemoration event of the July 22 tragedy?

On the same day, at about the exact same time that Wiehe sang on Utøya, one of the leading political dissidents in Cuba lost his life. His name was Oswaldo Payá. He was killed in a traffic accident. His daughter has hinted that the regime was responsible for his death. This was of course beyond the control of the AUF and the other attendees on the island, but one thing that definitely wasn’t beyond their control was inviting someone who praises that regime.

They should refrain from doing so again. What they could do is to publicly support the proposal to give Payá next year’s Nobel Peace Prize. Vaclav Havel has previously nominated him for this prize. Payá was awarded the Sakharov Prize in 2002.

Maybe the AUF should reconsider their views on dictatorial-ideological grime when they are ready to do some introspective contemplation. If not, then all the talk about the so-called ‘July 22 generation’ being sentinels of democracy and openness will take on a rather hollow sound. We shall never be naïve, exhorted Stoltenberg, but that means that we need to be informed. Norwegian youths — and many others for that matter — know discouragingly little about the savagery of communist dictatorships. They are fortunately better informed about the evil of the fascists and the Nazis, despite the fact that the piles of innocent corpses murdered by communist regimes are at least four times as high.

Why is this so? There are many reasons for it. Many of those in leading figures in this country prefer silence. One only needs to look at the textbooks of our unity school to see how underreported and neglected these topics are.

A Mule to the Slaughter?

According to the Bulgarian online news site Bivol.be, the bus bomber who killed himself and six other people at the Burgas airport on July 18 was acting as a “mule” for others, and was unaware that his luggage was to be detonated remotely.

Bivol has published photos of the young man’s head, and say that he had blue eyes and Caucasian features. The photos may be disturbing to sensitive readers, so I’ve left them out of the excerpts below. Anyone who wants to see them may visit the original article.

Exclusive in Bivol: Headshots of the Burgas Bus Bomber

Bivol is publishing exclusive photos of the head of the person, who was announced as the suicide assailant by the Bulgarian authorities. A young, blue-eyed man with perfectly Caucasoid features, high forehead and thick black hair can be seen on the snapshots.

The photos are obviously manipulated with software, which had added rasterization to the image and retouching of the most dreadful marks of the explosion.

Bivol wrote earlier that the “kamikadze” version (the right word is “shahid” — an Arabic word, which means “martyr” or “witness”) given by the internal minister Cvetanov didn’t endure consequently and it is more likely that the young man had been used as a mule without knowing that he is going to be blasted. The perpetrators of the assault interrupted the connection to them and to the organizers by blasting the man by remote sensing methods.

This version was confirmed by the witness Gilat Kulangia, who had seen the man taking out suitcases from the rack of the bus and instead putting in his backpack. Then a scandal started between her husband and another tourist and after a few seconds the explosion echoed.

In an interview for Darik radio the brigadier Nitzan Nuriel, former head of the Office for Combating Terrorism to the Israeli National Security Council, said yesterday:

“He has had the mission to put the bags with the explosive in the bus, because if he had the right to decide alone whether to blow himself up, he then should have done it so that there are more victims and damages.”

Nuriel also explained that the Israeli services have experience with such assaults when the organizers choose people, who don’t know that they are going to die.

The suicide assault version was disseminated in the parliament today and the security services couldn’t do anything in order to prevent it.

The statements of the authorities about where the assailant came in Bulgaria were highly controversial. The prime minister Boiko Borisov claimed that the assailant came in Bulgaria from a country-member of the Schengen area and the internal minister Cvetan Cvetanov said that there is no evidence whether the person was in the territory of the European Union. The only countries fitting both conditions are Switzerland and Norway, but leaks from the investigation in Bulgarian media mentioned Belgium, or Luxemburg.

Bivol also wrote that the concessionaire of Burgas airport, who takes care of the security of the inner perimeter of the airport, is connected to the TIM group from Varna. The airport authorities in Burgas were sharply criticized by an Israeli security expert according to whom the assault was not fated:

“It’s a matter of fact that thousands of people from Israel visit Bulgaria and the whole world knows that these people are a target and a purpose for terrorists. We all know how many times the Israeli authorities had received information about prepared assaults which they have prevented. We also know very well that even the best intelligence could not detect each prepared assault. And because of this the most simple thing the security services could do at the airport was to have well-trained agents who could do one and only thing — to walk around the terminal and to look for suspicious persons, who also stroll indolently and have the most different behavior amongst all the other passengers. But the services didn’t do it.”

Pigs’ Heads at a Mosque in Neukölln

The following article, which was published in Die Welt almost a month ago, was part of the “Brussels backlog”, and is just now seeing the light of day in my to-do pile.

Many thanks to Hermes for the translation:

Pigs’ heads in front of a mosque: Police tracking down the suspect

The 25-year-old is said to belong to the extreme right — no confession made.

Berlin — Police from Berlin have questioned a suspect in connection with the attack perpetrated with two severed pigs’ heads against a mosque in Neukölln. On Thursday at around 6 pm the detectives allegedly searched the apartment and the car belonging to a 25-year-old in the district of Lichtenrade, the spokesperson for the Department of Public Prosecution said, in this way confirming a report from the newspaper Bild. The man, however, said nothing when confronted with the accusations.

The man is accused of leaving two severed pigs’ heads in front of the Sehitlik Mosque in April. This is a strong insult to Muslims, because pigs are considered by Islam to be dirty animals. Before this incident, paint bombs had been thrown at the building, and representatives of the mosque were blackmailed. In this letters, foreigners were told under threats of aggression to leave [the country].

According to some reports, the suspect detained on Thursday had been investigated in the past for alleged resistance to authority, bodily injury and xenophobic insults. As the newspaper Bild writes, the man is said to belong to the extreme right group “Autonomous Nationalists”. According to police reports, extreme right pamphlets were found during the search of his apartment.

Evidence found at the scene of the events put the investigators on the track to incriminate the 25-year-old. The evidence obtained led to the conclusion that the suspect could have bought the pigs’ heads in a supermarket

After being interrogated, the suspect was set free again. There was not enough required evidence to fulfill the parameters of the charge, so there has been no arrest warrant, the spokesperson for the Department of Public Prosecution said. But the investigation of the 25-year-old is not closed. A complaint filed [against him] for insulting religious beliefs is still not out of question.

British Freedom: The Chairman’s Statement

The following message from Chairman Paul Weston was published today on the British Freedom Website.

Chairman’s Statement

Paul WestonEarly summer 2012 has been an extraordinarily successful period for British Freedom. Whilst I’ve been busy fielding questions on local and national radio, Kevin Carroll has been winning hearts and minds with his electrifying public speeches, and Stephen Lennon has been promoting British Freedom abroad, recently representing our party at the historic Brussels conference held in the European Parliament building.

Behind the scenes, BF’s dedicated team of Simon Bennett, Peter Mullins, Peter Stafford, Michael Wood, Stephen Tweed and George Whale continue to develop the party’s web and social media presence (see, for example BritishFreedomTV on YouTube, which thanks to Stephen T’s hard work is attracting many new subscribers), and to organise regional and local activities to spread the message of Freedom across the country.

New membership applications reached their highest ever level a few weeks ago, and are continuing at a steady rate through the summer. I am especially pleased to report the addition of many new female members and supporters, some of whom are already making important contributions.

My recent participation in a BBC Radio 4 programme presented by Trevor Phillips was quite an eye-opener. Ostensibly an impartial investigation into Europe’s emerging ‘far-right’ parties, it was really just another excuse for attacking the so called ‘right-wing’ movement, and I entered the studio knowing full well what to expect. (It has always amused and irritated me in equal measure that the media insist on using the term ‘far-right’ for parties like ours, which represent the popular majority view on so many issues, not only immigration and national identity.)

Disappointingly for Mr Phillips, the programme didn’t quite go according to plan. He was unable to cast me as a ‘far-right extremist’ simply because I was able to present my arguments logically, reasonably and above all, honestly! The left-wing bias of the BBC and Mr Phillips was very noticeable with Phillips apparently astonished that I should question the Communist background of EU President Barroso! I pointed out the 100 million dead at the hands of the global Communists but this made no impression at all on Phillips, which is perhaps not surprising given his admiration of Lenin…

Naturally, the BBC edited my half-hour contribution down to just a couple of minutes and the most interesting exchanges were lost, but BF received many new enquiries as a result of the broadcast, which was really the main point of the exercise.

I often scratch my head in bafflement that a follower of Lenin (the architect of the Soviet gulags that killed so many innocent people) can get a job as a presenter with Britain’s national broadcasting organisation — and nobody even questions it! But that’s modern Britain for you. And of course it’s not just the BBC that’s decorated with sculptures of Lenin, or posters of Karl Marx and Che Guevara. In fact many of our universities and government departments unofficially disbar anybody who is not of the left — and the unwritten rule for conservatives or patriots wanting careers in those institutions is never to reveal their political opinions. So much for free speech!

Unfortunately I was unable to attend the historic conference at the European Parliament in Brussels but I couldn’t have done a better job than BF co-Vice Chairman Stephen Lennon and am indebted to him for delivering an outstanding speech, which earned an ovation from the prestigious international audience gathered there.

In his address, Stephen spoke of the realities for working people in Britain today, whose lives are not the rainbow utopia that rich Islington socialists dream of, but are increasingly beset by financial struggle, rising costs, falling wages, job insecurity and growing worries over crime and delinquency. And a compounding factor in many areas now is militant Islam, with its intolerance and aggression.

Most of you will be aware of the brave and tireless work that Stephen and Kevin Carroll do in leading popular opposition to Islamic extremism; but not all will be aware of their invaluable work as international ambassadors, informing people about BF activities, and building friendships and high-level alliances abroad.

The process that began two weeks ago in Brussels with the Declaration on Individual Liberties and Human Rights will be critical in protecting free speech in Europe, and I can promise you that British Freedom will continue to be closely involved in this process.

I like to think that British Freedom is, above all, a decent and fair-minded political party. We have always welcomed people of all races, classes, ages and orientations, the only requirement being a love of Britain and a willingness to abide by its laws and embrace its values and customs.

Given the inclusiveness of our membership, people sometimes question our apparent pre-occupation with Islam and mass immigration. Well, the first thing to note (and it’s supported by opinion polls) is that many Asian, Caribbean and other minority Britons are just as concerned about these issues as are the majority. The second thing is that, among the issues affecting Britain’s future, those two are potentially the most damaging, and we would be neglecting our responsibility to the British people if we didn’t address them head on. Therefore, curtailment of immigration and isolation of militant Islam will remain high priorities for us.

Of course, we do not disregard or diminish other areas of policy. If you look at our policy statements, you’ll see that we have given a great deal of time and thought to the broad range of issues affecting the British people: from defence, crime and the economy, through health and education, to agriculture, energy and foreign policy.

To get BF policies across to a large audience we will continue to skirt the obstacles placed in our path by mainstream media whilst focusing more intensely on accessible, web- and print-based media.

Volunteers have already come forward who will be devoting time to getting the British Freedom name into the mainstream media through newspaper articles/letters, comments on popular press blogs (simple, but effective), and by seeking opportunities for the leadership to participate in TV and radio programmes.

At the same time, our web team will be working to extend the reach of the BF website, Facebook and twitter accounts to attract and inform new members.

Thirdly, we will be channelling much more effort and resources into printed communications, primarily leaflets (e.g. 20 Point Plan), flyers and posters (e.g. Sharia Free Zone). This push will begin with fundraising to enable us to print large batches and distribute them to the regions and localities. We will keep you informed, via the website, of progress on this initiative.

Other important developments ahead include international gatherings in Stockholm and New York, regional strategy meetings to map the way forward for British Freedom in different parts of the country, and additional open meetings enabling the public to meet the party leadership and members.

We are always looking for people to lend their talents to the party. In particular, we seek new members to help with leafleting and campaigns; we seek local organisers, and candidates for council elections in 2013; we’re looking for photographers and artists to add to our media archive (used in media production); we seek people to contribute ideas on party policy and tactics; lastly, we seek individuals with skills in scriptwriting, design, video-making, etc. to help with media production. Please contact either George Whale or Peter Stafford if you’d like to become involved in any of these activities.

After only a short time with British Freedom, I find myself in the enviable position of leading a growing party with a growing international profile, a dedicated ‘back-room’ team, and two of the most dynamic and charismatic leaders to emerge in British politics in recent years. We really could not be better placed to intensify our assault on Britain’s complacent and corrupt political elites.

I hope you will join me in wishing all of our athletes great success in the coming London Olympics. There are many negatives about these games which will be heavily promoted as the ‘Multicultural Olympiad’ even as our armed forces are called upon to protect us from the outfall of multiculturalism, but our athletes are simply athletes representing their country and therefore deserve our full support no matter that the games themselves appear to have been hijacked by the corporations and propagandists.

And finally, thank God for the British military who not only sacrifice so much abroad but can also be relied on to sort out the all-too-typical mess our liberal/ left elites insist on inflicting on us at home as well. It is a shocking state of affairs that an athletics event could not be held without the close alliance of our military, but such is multicultural Britain 2012. Three cheers for our athletes, three cheers for our military and resounding boos for the useless liberal elites!

Yours Sincerely

Paul Weston
Chairman, British Freedom

“Islam Is a Homophobic Religion”

The gay community in Berlin has woken up to the reality of what full Islamization will mean to homosexuals in Germany and the rest of the Western world.

The following open letter to Volker Beck, a German politician from the Green Party, was published on July 10 in the German-language edition of International Business Times. Many thanks to Hermes for the translation:

Open letter from the gay community to Volker Beck: “Islam is a homophobic Religion”

Dear Mr. Beck,

We know and consider you to be a politician and a representative who up until now has campaigned magnificently in favor of the rights and the equal treatment of gays and lesbians in our country. For this reason we’d like to express again our deep gratitude to you.

Nevertheless, it came as a shock to us the news that your party (Bündnis90-Die Grünen) spoke in favor of the acceptance of Islam as the third main religion in Germany.

As a homosexual, you know what that means:

If Islam should gain this acceptance, it should become clear to us gays that everything we have fought for (the recognition of same-sex couples, laws against discrimination, the acceptance of gays and lesbians in society) would disappear again.

That’s why we ask you, a vehement supporter of the rights of homosexuals worldwide, to protest as strongly as possible against this your party’s plan, and to make use of your influence inside your party.

We consider Islam to be a homophobic religion, [because] homosexuality is, according to the Quran, something to be punished by death.

The Muslims’ opinion about homosexuality may be observed day by day in the districts of Berlin where there is a high concentration of Muslims in the population. In districts such as Neukölln, Kreuzberg and Wedding, it is impossible for us to go hand-in-hand in the streets, let alone to kiss each other in public, without facing the risk of being insulted, spit on or even bashed down. “Schwülenbashing” (gay-bashing) has meanwhile become a spare-time activity for Muslim youngsters. Even in the tolerant Nollendorfkiez in Berlin there have been in the past an increasing number of attacks perpetrated by Muslims against gays and lesbians, the outcome of which was, as in the case of a friend, not seldom hospital treatment. By the way, the legal proceeding against the perpetrators was abandoned.

In all countries in which Islam is the state religion (for example Indonesia, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia etc…), gays are persecuted and killed. Do you really want to give more rights to this religion in Germany?

Being a professed gay, you surely do not want this. After all, apart from your activities as representative in the German parliament, you are also the curator of the Hirschfeld-Eddy Foundation for the rights of the homosexuals worldwide

We thank you for this also, because in countries in which Islam is a state religion, the rights of homosexuals are trampled underfoot on a daily basis. You and your party colleague Claudia Roth have also signed an open letter to the Interior Minister against the deportation of an Iranian homosexual to his homeland.

That’s why we urgently ask you to put all your efforts into stopping this initiative by your party, in order that homosexuals can continue living a freely self-determined life without being exposed to violent attacks.

Yours Sincerely,
Enrico Michael-Konrad & Günter Konrad

Go to PC Jail!

As we reported last night, the Greek triple jumper Voula Papachristou was excommunicated from the Church of Political Correctness for tweeting “With so many Africans in Greece… at least the West Nile mosquitoes will eat home made food!!!”

A regular reader from New York State emailed us this morning with questions about what happened to the unfortunate Ms. Papachristou:

I am having trouble finding what is “racist” about this joke. The Olympic decision-makers must have a very expansive definition of what constitutes racism. When confronted with a reference to racism, my reaction is: Name the race!

I don’t see any reference to race, but if forced to find one, it would have to be Egyptians, who are members of the white race.

Why would anyone think this statement is racist? The homemade human food for West Nile mosquitoes are inhabitants of Africa’s most populous country.

Why all this solicitude for the tender feelings of the white-race Egyptians who live on the western bank of the Nile? Do they really feel offended? In what way?

Somebody please explain this.

I wrote him back and listed several things that are “racist” about this incident under the prevailing norms of political correctness:

1.   Egyptians are considered “brown”, as are Arabs, Persians, Turks, etc. This classification grants them special privileges, entitling them to be considered victims of white European hegemony and oppression, etc.
2.   All Muslims are treated as “brown”, even Bosnians and Albanians, and are thus accorded those same victim-privileges.
3.   The young woman’s joke referred to the large numbers of Africans (all of whom are “brown”, even the Copts and the Berbers) that now live in Greece. Although true — there are large numbers of African immigrants in Greece, many of them there illegally — it is forbidden for white Europeans to discuss this fact, unless their discourse is hedged about with qualifiers that emphasize the victimization of the Africans: they can’t find jobs, are poor, are discriminated against, are targeted by right-wing extremist xenophobic racists, etc., etc.
4.   It is forbidden for white people to joke about anything that concerns “brown” people, even innocuous or neutral things that do not refer to the inferiority or negative characteristics of such people. The exception, of course, would be if the butt of the joke were the white racists who oppress and discriminate against the “brown” people mentioned in the joke — then it would be OK.

Those are the explanations I can think of off the top of my head. There are probably others.

The rules vis-à-vis “race” that govern public discourse are extraordinarily complex and Byzantine. They are never explicitly stated, and are thus very difficult for even the most well-informed person to understand. Most high-minded and politically correct people run afoul of them at one time or another, since there are so many lines in so many places that cannot be crossed.

Virtually every day a politician or celebrity makes an error and inadvertently breaks the rules of discourse about “race”. The TV viewer is then subjected to the degrading spectacle of the offender’s repeated pitiful apologies, protests of good intentions, and abject groveling before the media outlets that shine the klieg lights on him. None of it does him any good, of course. Once the bucket of “racist” tar has been emptied over one’s head, the sticky goo remains indefinitely.

These rules only apply to white people, however (and to Jews, who for practical purposes are considered at least as “white” as I am). “Brown” people are given an unlimited supply of “Get Out of PC Jail Free” cards, and may thus say whatever they like about race with impunity.

Gates of Vienna News Feed 7/25/2012Writing in The Irish Examiner, Peter Sutherland and Cecilia Malmström call for EU countries to open their borders and embrace the arrival of immigrants. Mr. Sutherland and Ms. Malmström emphasize the political and social enrichment that the newcomers will bring with them.

In other news, Eurozone analysts now agree that there is no longer any question of whether there will be a Spanish bailout, but only of when it will happen.

You Can’t Say That!

Especially not if you want to compete in the Olympics.

I laughed out loud at this… ahem… indiscretion by a young Greek athlete. Not so much at the gag itself — which is mildly funny, if you’re not politically correct — but at the fact that someone of her generation had managed to escape indoctrination to the point where she could tweet such a thing.

But one has to wonder how she could have been unaware of the inevitable consequences of her little joke. What was she thinking?

From Yahoo Sports:

Greek Triple Jumper Removed From Olympic Team After Making Racist Comments on Twitter

LONDON – Greek triple jumper Voula Papachristou was banished from the Olympic Games on Wednesday after making racist comments and expressing right-wing sentiments on Twitter.

Papachristou was scheduled to fly to London next week from her training base in Athens when the Hellenic Olympic Committee – Greek’s Olympic federation – made the decision to expel her from the team.

Papachristou, 23, made a racist and tasteless comment on her Twitter account, @papaxristoutj, that highlighted the number of African immigrants in Greece.

“With so many Africans in Greece … at least the West Nile mosquitos will eat homemade food!!!,” Papachristou wrote. She also reposted a comment from controversial Greek politician Ilias Kasidiaris, who has strongly criticized his government’s “soft” immigration policy.

The West Nile virus was first discovered in Uganda, but cases have recently been found during the European summer. Papachristou’s tweet was met with a flood of angry responses, but she didn’t respond until Wednesday, when it became clear she might lose her spot in the Olympics.

“I would like to express my heartfelt apologies for the unfortunate and tasteless joke I published on my personal Twitter account,” she said. “I am very sorry and ashamed for the negative responses I triggered, since I never wanted to offend anyone, or to encroach human rights.”

By then, it was too late. Greek Olympic chiefs consulted with senior members of the Greek parliament, including aides to Prime Minister Antonis Samaras, before making their decision. Part of the reason for the expulsion was to punish Papachristou for her actions, but the decision was also made in hopes of avoiding a backlash from anti-racism protestors at the Games.

The financial crisis gripping Greece – where strict austerity measures have affected the lives of millions – has forced the country to rely heavily on corporate sponsorship to fund its Olympic program. Officials feared that contributors may rethink their commitment if Papachristou remained on the team.
