Dishonesty and Pretense

We reported a couple of days ago on the recently averted terrorist attack involving a lone mujahid in New York City. Osama Hussein (who had other aliases) was arrested last Saturday by the NYPD when he came close to building a working bomb, with which he intended to kill returning American soldiers.

In the video below Ezra Levant and David Harris discuss the mainstream media’s systematic (and evidently intentional) unwillingness to discuss the role played by Islamic ideology in the motivation of the would-be bomber:

Hat tip: Vlad Tepes.

A Censored Report on Taxpayer-Funded JIhad in Australia

This special TV news report from Australia is refreshingly candid about a would-be Muslim terrorist who planned his murderous jihad against his adopted country while drawing welfare benefits for nineteen years at the expense of the Australian taxpayer.

There’s only one problem: the report never actually aired on Australian television. It was produced by the network last year, but political correctness prevented it from being released.

Now a copy of the banned news video has been leaked. Many thanks to Vlad Tepes for uploading this video:

A Diversity-Free Prayer Room

Taxi drivers in Ontario learn their trade at the City of Toronto’s Taxi College. The city has thoughtfully provided the college with a “multi-faith” prayer room, where students affiliated with any religion can spiritually refresh themselves when not at their studies.

Or so the story goes, anyway. As the following video by Blazing Cat Fur demonstrates, only one religion is actually practiced in the prayer room, making a farce of the city’s motto, “Diversity is our strength”:

A Taqiyya Amplifier

The video below highlights some appalling errors about Islam and the Koran, errors so basic that even a novice student of the Koran and the hadith would find them laughable.

Watch Acts17Apologetics expertly deconstruct the Muslim Brotherhood-inspired disinformation peddled by the anchors of an ABC News 20/20 special on Islam:

The True Story of Bloody Sunday in Cairo

On October 9, 2011, a series of violent encounters on the streets of Cairo left 27 Coptic Christians dead and hundreds more wounded. Reports that came out of the city at the time — mostly originating from Egyptian state sources — said that Coptic demonstrators had stolen weapons and attacked the military police. Their actions were said to have caused the ensuing deaths and injuries.

When that story became untenable a day or two later, new and more incoherent explanations were offered, all of which exonerated the military and the police, and somehow placed the blame on the Copts.

A secretly recorded video of some of the events that night has now emerged. Now the world can see violent Muslim demonstrators chasing down and beating Christians on the streets of Cairo on what has since been dubbed “Bloody Sunday”.

Many thanks to Vlad Tepes for subtitling and uploading this video:

Below is an article from AINA that accompanied the video (see the original article for further video links):

Secret Video Shows Egyptian Police, Security Staging Attack on Copts

by Mary Abdelmassih

(AINA) — Millions of people world-wide have seen videos of Egyptian Army trucks chasing and crushing Christian protesters under their wheels during the events of the Maspero Massacre on October 9, which claimed the lives of 27 and injured 329 Christians (AINA 10-10-2011).

The ruling military council has denied that military forces used live ammunition against the Maspero protesters, or that personnel intentionally used armored vehicles to run over civilians. After blaming the Copts for using firearms, they later changed their story and put the blame on “unidentified” civilians who infiltrated the demonstrations, targeting both the peaceful protesters and the military police to cause a rift between the military council and the people. In all of its statements the military has cleared the army of any wrong-doings.

Evidence during the Maspero Massacre have now emerged which exposes the military police and state central security of committing other grave abuses against the Copts. “These are war crimes,” says Dr. Emad Gad, a scholar at Al-Ahram Centre for Strategic Studies, “and Field Marshal Tantawi is responsible for it. He who issued this order should be prosecuted.”

Video evidence has emerged proving that the so-called “unidentified” civilian element, or “thugs” as they are sometimes called and who are increasingly implicated in crimes by the authorities to shift the blame away from themselves, worked together with the military police and central security during the Maspero massacre. Although the assailants in the footage were careful not to be caught on camera, Muslim activist Galal Mohannad was on his way to Maspero when he stumbled on the evidence and secretly taped it on his phone, risking his life in the process. He passed through this road with its inspection points because he is a Muslim. On YouTube he titled it “Bloody Sunday, thugs, police and army — one hand.”

Coptic activist Mark Ebeid said that “thugs are either security personnel in civilian clothes, or ex-prisoners on the security and police’s list of dangerous criminals and they hire them to kill or do any dirty work for them, or radical Muslims, who are only to eager to oblige the police and satisfy their desire to kill Christians.”

Renowned TV commentator Bilal Fadl of the independent Tahrir TV aired this footage of how the thugs were intercepting Copts in the streets and how on orders of the security they even went into the Hilton Hotel and dragged Copts out. He also commented on how they were waiting for the Coptic demonstrators to arrive to attack them (video).

Details of another Maspero incident were given in an article written by well-known journalist and TV personality Yosry Foda. The article was titled the “Egyptian Schindler,” an analogy of the German businessman Oskar Schindler, who saved the lives of more than a thousand mostly Polish-Jewish refugees during the Holocaust by employing them in his factories. According to a Muslim owner of a company based in Maspero at the site of the Coptic massacre, he struggled to walk past the wounded, the dead and the human remains that filled the entrance of the company’s building and the narrow corridor leading to the stairs. When he went up to his office, he saw the look of horror among the workers and on the faces of some forty Copts, including a priest, who had sought shelter there. The staff told him of how the military police, armed with machine guns, broke into the company’s headquarters in search of Copts. The Christians were hidden in the restrooms. Some Muslim employees in the company gave their ID cards to the Christians to hide their true identity.

The man and his staff spent the first night guarding the Copts who were hidden in the restrooms. From time to time the military police came for a surprise inspection, sometimes alone and sometimes accompanied by people in plain clothes.

The man periodically visited the Copts and provided them with food and drink. They began to formulate a plan to sneak out of the building using the rear entrance, in twos and threes, and a cover story should they be stopped in the street. Some Christians agreed to say they were on their way to early morning prayers at the mosque. This continued for about forty-eight hours, during which the man succeeded in secretly bringing out all Copts safely except the pastor. Despite repeated attempts the pastor refused to change his religious attire.

After describing this incident in his article, Fouda addressed the ruling the Supreme Council of the armed forces: “tell us that members of the military police have lost their nerve amid the chaos and committed a mistake. Tell us, when they ran over their brothers, they did not believe that this is ‘halal’ [lawful]. Tell us that the heirs of the state security when they looked at the religion on the ID they were deceived, misguided, corrupt. You simply must tell us you made a mistake, this is more honorable for you, us and the whole country.”

The military police stormed the Maspero headquarters of the independent News Channel 25 and Al-Hurra TV, which were airing the clashes live and were forced off air (video showing the storming of both stations). The military police told the staff they were looking for Copts, which is evident in this footage.

Islamophile Illusions

Fjordman

The following essay by Fjordman was published a few days ago in Dagbladet. Many thanks to Cecilie for the translation.

Islamophile Illusions
by Fjordman

I have challenged Marie Simonsen, commentator in Dagbladet, to provide some concrete examples of places where Muslims have lived peacefully with their non-Muslim neighbors over longer periods of time. Personally, I don’t think any such place exists, which means that the term Islamophobia, so frequently used by her newspaper and others, is completely meaningless.

In an essay of 27 October, Rune Berglund Steen, head of communications at the Centre against Racism, claims that one can turn my original question on its head and ask whether Christians are able to live in harmony with their neighbors.

I am sure that is possible, although it is striking to notice that the Centre against Racism doesn’t even attempt to answer the original question. Some would speculate that this is because they cannot answer it. Islam’s bloody borders with other peoples, from Thailand to the Middle East, are well-known and well-documented.

Thomas Hylland Eriksen from the University of Oslo points out that Han Chinese commit atrocities against Tibetans, whites against blacks and blacks against whites. “The list of groups who cannot always live peacefully together would be a long one,” according to him.

Islam is not a completely necessary ingredient for creating conflicts, which we can see in Northern Ireland and other places. I have never been foolish enough to claim that this is the case; I am merely pointing out that Islam will dramatically increase the likelihood of serious conflicts. I am currently halfway through an English language book about how Islam in my view cannot be reformed. I would be happy to publish an essay about this topic under my real name if any newspaper dares to print it, which is doubtful.

It is true that the potential for conflict exists between closely related European and Asian nations even when Islam is not present. What does that mean? Ironically, it means that Hylland Eriksen, perhaps the country’s most prominent Multicultural ideologue, and the Centre against Racism have themselves smashed the foundations of their own ideology, apparently without realizing it. World history shows, unfortunately, that ethnic diversity strongly increases the risk of serious conflicts.

The Nordic countries’ greatest advantage, historically speaking, has been an ethnically homogeneous population. Our greatest competitive advantage is now being destroyed by state-sponsored politics. As an analogy, let’s say you had a big pile of gold and professor Thomas Hylland Eriksen told you to flush half of the gold down the toilet because this was supposed to be economically beneficial.

Hylland Eriksen said in an interview in 2008 that “The most important ‘blank spot’ now consists of deconstructing the majority so thoroughly that it can never be called the majority again”. If he had said that Somalis or Pakistanis should be deconstructed, this would have triggered strong reactions. Why is it always white Europeans, and only them, who are to be deconstructed and have their countries and cultural history taken away from them?

The political scientist Øystein Hetland described me on 31 October as an extremist, among other reasons because I am very critical towards Islam, and ask what it takes to make a democratic society work. I wrote the following on Gates of Vienna on the occasion of my fifth anniversary as Fjordman: “Are Islamic teachings inherently violent? Yes. Can Islam be reformed? No. Can Islam be reconciled with our way of life? No. Is there such as thing as a moderate Islam? No. Can we continue to allow Muslims to settle in our countries? No.”

These few sentences contain all the information about Islam you will ever need. Do I regret writing this? No. One ought to tell the truth, even when it is unpleasant.

Gates of Vienna News Feed 11/21/2011

Gates of Vienna News Feed 11/21/2011The renewed protests and riots in Tahrir Square in Cairo have left at least forty people dead. So many people have been killed the local morgue has run out of coffins. The interim civilian government, which is under control of the military, has offered to resign.

In other news, the joint Congressional committee responsible for crafting a deficit-reduction package has failed to iron out the differences between Republicans and Democrats, and will not reach agreement before the deadline. The result will be an automatic reduction called “sequestration”, which is expected to have a disproportionately severe effect on the Pentagon budget, which had been deeply cut earlier.

Meanwhile, in the French city of Toulouse, a wild boar rampaged through a record store, causing patrons and employees to flee in fright. It was eventually killed by police.

“You Cannot Integrate Into Nothing”

Cultural Enrichment News

Here’s some more Scandinavian enrichment news, this time from Denmark. Because it has so many Muslim charges, a children’s institution in Sealand has decided to cancel a traditional visit to a church at Christmas.

Many thanks to Hans Erling Jensen for translating this article from fpn.dk:

Kindergarten drops church visit out of concern for Muslims

“Why should all the other children lose of a piece of Danish Christmas tradition?” asks the cleric.

There will be no story of Jesus’ birth in Bethlehem, the three wise men and the bright star the donkey and so on, for the children in the Danish children’s institution Ørnevang in Lillerød, Sealand.

The staff has decided not to participate in the traditional Christmas service in Lillerød Church because a high proportion of children in the institution are Muslims.

“The reason is that we have several Muslim families who do not want their children to go to church. And so we decided to say ‘no thanks’, because we also have our everyday work,” said Susan Lund Andersen, the headmaster of Ørnevang to Jyllands-Posten.

The decision to drop the Christmas church service has caused great annoyance to the vicar of Lillerød Church, who believes that the Christmas worship service is an important part of the Danish Christmas tradition.

Wanted to amend the program

“I was upset and annoyed that they cancelled. They called and asked if I could amend the program so they could participate. I always end the ceremony with the bright blessing of the children, and they wanted me to refrain from that for the sake of the children’s religion,” says vicar Carsten Mulnæs.

He believes that Ørnevang — the institution — has made a bad decision, because now all the kids are unable to attend the Christmas service.

“I believe that children should have the opportunity, because it is a Danish tradition. I know that the institution has a large proportion of Muslim children, but I know that not all families have a problem with going to church. I think a majority of the kids will be cheated,” says Carsten Mulnæs.

It affects integration

The organization Muslims in Dialogue is sorry that the cancellation impacts the children who would like to go to church.

“I think it’s a shame if it affects the children who actually wanted to go to church. But on the other hand, I do not think anyone should be forced to participate who does not want to, whatever religion they belong to,” says Vice President Nihad Hodzic.

The action made Carsten Mulnæs write a reader’s comment in today’s edition of Frederiksborg County newspaper, where he emphasizes the church’s role in integration.

“You can not integrate into nothing. But that is exactly what we risk at that kindergarten: Nothing. It is not respect for Muslims, but disrespect for our own history.”

The service is not crucial

The argument that the Christmas worship service is important for integration does not have a great impact among Muslims in Dialogue.

“I understand that the priest is upset that the institution refuses to go to his church, but I do not believe that it actually works against integration. Personally, I have never participated in a Christmas service, and I do not think that it is essential for integration,” says Nihad Hodzic.

“We Have Lost the City”

Cultural Enrichment News

The article below is about the apocalyptic level of culturally-enriched violence in Grønland, a district of the city of Oslo. Fjordman sends this background material on the area:

Grønland is only two subway stops from the Parliament, and one from the Central Station, fairly close to the government offices that were bombed by Breivik.

It looks like Karachi, Basra, and Mogadishu all rolled into one. People sell drugs openly just next to the Grønland subway station.

Bloodied in GrønlandIt’s not Norway or Europe anymore, except when there is welfare money to be collected. The police have largely given up. Early in 2010 Aftenposten stated that there are sharia patrols in this area, and gay couples are assaulted and chased away. “Immigrant Fatima Tetouani says that ‘Grønland is more Muslim than Morocco.’”

Readers should remember that Aftenposten, which is the largest newspaper in the Oslo region, is normally pro-Islamic and very Multicultural.

Many thanks to Kitman for translating this article from Aftenposten:

Robbery-Victim no. 351, Grønland

Sturla Nøstvik (36) did not suspect any danger when the barrel of a pistol was smashed into his forehead. That was the beginning of fifty minutes of hell as a hostage of the robbers.

The women are being raped at night in Oslo, and the men are robbed more than ever.

In just the past ten years more than 4,000 people have been robbed in the town center and the area of the Grønland police station [an immigrant ghetto]. Most of them are young men. Sturla Nøstvik is robbery-victim 351 from Grønland just from this year, the same period in which around fifty assault-rapes have been reported in Oslo. The robbers play on fear, violence, and severe threats that leave a mark on the victims. Police superintendent Inge Sundeng in Grønland describes them as the “somewhat-forgotten victims”.

[…]

The police visited Sturla Nøstvik in the emergency room after the robbery. They told Nøstvik that a gang of robbers had committed many similar robberies in Grünerløkka and surrounding areas in thee past weeks. They told him that everybody should have the right to feel safe, but that they had no way of halting the robberies. “We have lost the city,” they said…

Eight Days a Week

Windmills, the Netherlands
Autumn Fundraiser 2011, Day Eight

I’ve had to break the alphabetical order of our fundraising testimonials — and also add an eighth day to the week — to include one more encomium. It didn’t arrive until yesterday afternoon, so that’s why it’s out of order.

It’s a signal honor to post an endorsement from Martin Bosma, a member of the Dutch Parliament for the PVV (Partij voor de Vrijheid, or the Party for Freedom). Longtime readers of Gates of Vienna are familiar with his work through a number of translated articles and videos that have appeared here in the last few years.

Mr. Bosma also sent us this brief bio, which I have augmented by including a mention of his book, which was published last year (still in Dutch only, as far as I know):

Martin BosmaMartin Bosma was the first to join Geert Wilders when he broke away from his original party. He has been a Member of Parliament for the Freedom Party since 2006. He is also deputy-chairman of Dutch Parliament, secretary of the Freedom Party faction in Parliament, and president of the Taalunie, the quasi-governmental organisation that promotes the Dutch and Afrikaans languages. He is the author of The Pseudo-Elite of the Counterfeiters, and a proud donor to Gates of Vienna.

And his endorsement of our blog:

To all you GOV readers,

Gates of Vienna is my daily stop when it comes to news on Islam, and other parts of life. Hey, I can’t waste my time too much on the MSM. That the gates of Vienna are protected and defended by people on the other side of the ocean is a mere disgrace to us living here on the continent. Again, Americans fighting for Europe’s freedom. It’s both stimulating, and embarrassing.

Tip jarBaron Bodissey and Dymphna are two wonderful creatures who have been in the forefront of our fight for many years. They deserve our support. I understand Baron and Dymphna live in Virginia, the state that was once the home of Thomas Jefferson. They indeed make the man of Monticello proud. It is his tradition of liberty that they honor. Baron and Dymphna are true citizen-warriors, and they walk in a long tradition — a tradition that represents the best of America, and the reason why I hope the US remains the world’s last superpower for decades to come. (Preferably with someone else in the White House, but that is up to the American electorate, not me.)

I had the privilege of meeting the Baron once — in Diana West’s kitchen. She had thrown a party for Geert Wilders, but he called in sick, so I had to fill in for him. The Baron left me with a feeling that he is one of those rocks America is build on: ordinary folks whose heart is in the right place and have a natural understanding of the value of freedom. Just like those GI Joes that liberated my country in 1945. America never had nobility. But if it had, it would consist of Dymphna and the Baron. They honor freedom more than any politician ever can.

May Dymphna and the Baron live a long live, enjoy prosperity and receive many donations.

The Dutch are known to be frugal. As a matter of fact, copper wire was invented by two Dutch folks fighting over a cent. I guess our wealth was founded on our unwillingness to spend money. But I suggest we make an exception for our heroes in Virginia. This is not a time to let them go Dutch. Therefore, my fellow-cheese eaters: Niet zeuren, maar gireren. Beurzen open, dijken dicht!

People who don’t eat cheese are also welcome to hit the tip cup. In fact, some of yesterday’s donors came from places that may not be particularly turophilic:

Stateside: California, Georgia, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, and Virginia

Near Abroad: Canada

Far Abroad: Australia, Denmark, Norway, and the UK

Our deepest gratitude to all who have donated so far.

Today is the last day of our quarterly appeal. Tomorrow, if she is well enough, Dymphna will write the wrap-up.

The tip jar in the text above is just for decoration. To donate, click the tin cup on our sidebar, or the donate button. If you prefer a monthly subscription, click the “subscribe” button.

Gates of Vienna News Feed 11/20/2011The owner of a wind-power company was surprised when he and his industry came under attack from the Duke of Edinburgh at a reception in London. The Duke told him that viable wind energy was a “fairy tale”. Supporters of wind energy programs are concerned that this unfortunate incident will strengthen the arguments of the critics of their industry.

In other news (although not in this feed), the People’s Party won the Spanish election, as expected. The party is referred to as “conservative” in Spain, although it would seem middle-of-the-road or even slightly leftist by American standards. However, the election, coming as it does in the midst of an acute debt crisis, does signify a turn towards the right in Spain.

Home-Grown Jihad, Episode #253

A suspected Islamic terrorist was arrested yesterday for planning to launch a jihad attack in New York City and environs. His name was Jose Pimentel before he converted to Islam and decided to become a holy warrior, when he became Osama Hussein in honor of his two heroes (his second hero was Saddam Hussein, and not the current President of the United States).

According to Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Mr. Hussein had been inspired by Al Qaeda and Anwar Al-Awlaki, and had been planning for more than a year to launch bomb attacks on returning soldiers, the police, and government officials. New York City’s counterterrorism unit had had him under surveillance for the past year, and arrested him yesterday when he came close to building a working bomb.

Many thanks to Vlad Tepes for uploading this video of Mayor Bloomberg’s press conference earlier this evening. One of the striking things about what these officials have to say is that it includes the I-word and the J-word — which would not have occurred if the federal government had been running the show:

Here’s a brief article from The New York Times on the arrest of the suspected would-be bomber. Notice that it doesn’t mention Mr. Pimentel’s new name, nor Islam, nor jihad:

Man Arrested and Charged in New York City Bomb Plot

The authorities have arrested a man who law enforcement officials believe was planning to build and detonate a bomb in New York with government workers, returning military personnel and elected officials as the target, two people briefed on the case said on Sunday.

Cyrus R. Vance Jr., the Manhattan district attorney, Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg and Commissioner Raymond W. Kelly of the New York Police Department announced the charges against the man at a Sunday evening news conference at City Hall.

The man was arrested within the last 24 hours.

The defendant in the case, identified as Jose Pimentel, 27, had bought bomb-making materials and “began to build them,” said one person briefed on the case, who added that the Police Department had had the man under surveillance for about a year.

Occupy Potemkin Village

Ezra Levant and a team of dangerous conservatives visited “Occupy Toronto” in the middle of the night with an infrared camera. Surprise, surprise! They discovered that the vast majority of the tents in the park were uninhabited. The Potemkin Occupiers didn’t take kindly to this incursion of right-wing extremism, and their reaction was somewhat physical…
