Keeping Tabs on the Bees

This brief article from Politically Incorrect deserves a place in the News of the Weird. Many thanks to JLH for the translation:

European High Court Forbids Bees Approaching Genetically Modified Flowers

In our wacky republic, things get bigger as they ascend the power structure. At the instigation of a mentally unbalanced bee-keeper, the similarly unbalanced European Court (EuGH), the highest court in the EUSSR, is considering whether honeybees are allowed to approach genetically modified plants and take their pollen. If they are not, then, first, the resultant honey must be removed from supermarket shelves and burned in a carbon-neutral fashion. Second, bees will be forbidden to approach inappropriate blossoms.

The end result must be that a video camera will be belted onto the back of each bee, to document that it has only approached the marsh marigolds of green morons. On Tuesday, the clowns of the EuGH will dispense “justice”. The lackeys of the green-leaning Süddeutsche Zeitung (South German Newspaper) are standing at attention. Not quite the Three Stooges.

  1. I don’t get it. You oppose, even ridicule, this regulation?

I do foresee a technical problem mounting the cumbersome video camera on the backs of the restricted insects. However, that could easily be surmounted by simply taping or gluing the equipment to another location. I suggest… the bees’ knees.

  2. My, aren’t the EU regulators “busy bees” sticking their proboscises where sanity no longer lives. You couldn’t make this stuff up. It’s right up there with acceptable curvature of cukes. Cucumbers with scoliosis need not apply to be sold in the EUtopia where apparently even bees will read the rule book and obey.
