According to Tuareg sources, a number of Libyan military officers and Gaddafi regime officials have taken refuge in Burkina Faso. This comes on the heels of a report that towards the end of his regime, Col. Qhedafi sold 20% of Libya’s gold reserves — 29 tons, worth more than $1 billion — to pay government salaries.
In other news, a Spanish warship has rescued a French hostage who had been abducted and held for several days by Somali pirates.
