From skype:

Rumours of disorder elsewhere in Birmingham, notably Handsworth and Kings Heath, mostly black and Muslim areas

Just heard confirmation: rioters/looters have started at Bentley Bridge retail park in Wolverhampton. Also Walsall and Bloxwich.

From the notes to a video:

Shot at Clapham Junction, Monday 08th August, 9pm

The first violence at Clapham Junction saw people breaking into Debenhams department store and looting it.

There was one small squad of police in riot gear, standing on St John’s Road near the top of the street, but they were doing nothing whilst people went in and out of Debenhams.

Without anyone advancing on them, they then started to retreat, as the video shows, and quickly disappeared. This was the moment when the mob was given free reign of St John’s Road, which resulted in a hell of a lot more looting and violence.

From 9pm until when I left at 10:30pm, I didn’t see a single other police officer.

From the BBC:

Man Shot in Face in Chapeltown Street

A man is under armed police guard in hospital suffering “serious facial injuries” after being shot in a street in the Chapeltown area of Leeds.

Armed officers and a substantial police presence were evident on Saville Place on Monday evening.

Police said they had few details, but BBC television reporters at the scene said there had been crowd of up to 100 at the scene, and some were masked.

Later in the evening the crowd dispersed with no reports of trouble.

A police spokeswoman confirmed that a 34-year-old local man, who they did not name, had suffered gunshot injuries…
