Yesterday Faisal Shahzad, the would-be Times Square bomber, was sentenced to life in prison. In a lengthy speech given at his sentencing, he said a number of things that are interesting to the Counterjihad.
I’m certain the apologists for Islam have been busy for the last twenty-four hours explaining that Mr. Shahzad’s beliefs did not represent true Islam, but were a perversion of it. All the excerpts I read, however, were standard mainstream sharia, straight out of the texts of Islamic law.
As Vlad Tepes notes, the most significant statement by Faisal Shahzad is that although he took the Oath of Allegiance to the United States, he did not mean it. This is actually standard practice for any Muslim who takes his faith seriously, because it requires him to lie about his intentions if doing so would serve the cause of Islam.
