Our Flemish correspondent VH sends this translated news report about a (possibly culturally enriched) bomb incident in the Netherlands this morning. He says, “The news is developing, and there may be more later.”
From Spits Nieuws:
Train Station in The Netherlands evacuated
(February 9) There will be no trains in the morning to and from the city of Den Bosch [‘s Hertogenbosch]. The police have evacuated the train station [map]. A spokesman for the police announced that “a suspect” was found. Based on his behavior, the police suspect him of possibly having placed an explosive in a train.
All passengers have been removed from the train. Police are having a talk with the man. The square in front of the station has also been cleared because there were also train passengers outside. The Explosives Ordnance Disposal Unit [EOD] is on its way.
An eyewitness said that the man was wearing a long white robe [Muslim jellaba] and a green jacket over it. The man made hints referring to the attacks of September 11, 2001. The man was a passenger on the intercity route from Roosendaal to Zwolle [via Den Bosch].
At 9.15, the police also announced that some houses in the area would be evacuated. At 9.20, eyewitnesses reported that a bomb was indeed found. The EOD was in the process of dismantling it. The police would not confirm this.
