A Serbian Apology to Muslims

Someone is always apologizing to Islam. More often than not it’s a Christian who does it, and we’ve seen both Catholics and Protestants step up to the podium to take their turns begging forgiveness for their sins against the Ummah.

Now it’s the turn of the Orthodox Church. The Orthodox Patriarch in Serbia said certain things in a newspaper interview that offended Muslims, and as a result has to eat some crow. A lot of it.

According to ANSAmed:

Serbia: Patriarch Apologises to Offended Muslims

BELGRADE, JANUARY 29 — On the day following a tide of protest from Serbia’s Muslim community over some of the statements made about Islam by the new Serb Orthodox Patriarch, Irinej, the Patriarch himself has offered an apology, thus quenching a row which might well have spread to damage relations between representatives of the two religious groups.

“I express my deepest regret for the statements I made and for the consequences they had, and I apologise sincerely to our Muslim fellow citizens and brethren”, Irinej said in a communiqué issued by the Patriarchate. The head of the Serb Orthodox Church stressed in his missive that he fully recognised and respected the identity, standing and integrity of Muslims as individuals and of the Moslem community as a whole.

The Patriarch is engaging in the customary Full Grovel, an act that has become depressingly familiar to those of us who live in the more western regions of Christendom. He’s very, very sorry; he failed to show respect; but he promises to make up for it.

So what was it that Patriarch Irinej did that was so terribly, grievously, wrong?
– – – – – – – –

The Muslim community had raised a protest at Irinej’s words spoken during an interview on Wednesday given to the Belgrade daily Blic. Replying to a question about Kosovo, (whose population has an Albanian majority of Muslim faith) he noted, among other things, that: “the Serbs (of Kosovo) are a minority in their own land. Apart from which, we know what the philosophy and psychology of Islam is. When they (the Muslims) are a minority they are capable of behaving well. But when they are on equal numerical terms they start to lift their heads, and once they are in the majority they start to turn the screw”. [emphasis added]

If these statements are offensive, then we are all in deep trouble.

Anyone who has studied the history of Islamic infiltration and conquest knows that the Patriarch spoke the simple factual truth: Muslims remain quiescent in any given population until their numbers are sufficient, and then they begin making demands and acting aggressively until they finally assume political power.

These patterns may be easily ascertained by studying the history of Islam. The process is not occluded or mysterious; it is simply the behavior mandated by Islam’s own sacred texts, and has been actualized repeatedly over the centuries in those regions which eventually became part of Dar al-Islam.

However, the world’s 8.89 septillion Muslims immediately became upset, as is their wont:

The Muslim community reacted quickly by calling these words ‘offensive’ and calling for an apology from the Patriarch.

In today’s communiqué of apology, Irinej nonetheless pointed out that the paper had omitted several passages from the interview in which he had pointedly said that “we are all part of God’s creation and so we are called upon to overcome all existing differences through human compassion and to live together in love and mutual respect”.

I have a dream.

In my dream, a Christian leader of great standing, dressed in full regalia — a pope, say, or a patriarch, or a cardinal, or an archbishop — draws his sword from its scabbard and holds it high, proclaiming defiantly:

“The legions of Mohammed are the servants of Satan, and I vow to fight them to my last breath!”

But it’s just a dream. It’s not going to happen, not in my lifetime.

  1. Good point with the Christian leader: speaking of historical threads, take for example the 16th c. Romanian prince Stefan cel Mare (Stephen the Great). Somebody like that would come in handy today.

  2. two favorite Bible verses (commands)
“Occupy til I come..” Lk 19
    Occupy -hold the ground won…

put on the “full Armor of God”..Ep.6 taken from Is.59…

When we start teaching -“my God is a God of War” —instead of –
‘let’s all be nice…and maybe the enemy-Lucifer-Satan- will be nice…
then such leaders will come forward…

Perish the thought but one terrorist attack, especially a rather destructive one, upon the Vatican could very easily change all that in a New York Minute™.

As Islam continues to expand and obtain more frequent access to even greater weapons of destruction, the above scenario does not just become more likely but, literally, inevitable.

Put another way, the decentralized nature of Islamic jihad guarantees that, beyond a certain number of participants and degree of access to weapons (esp. WMDs), there emerges a non-zero chance of such an event happening.

The hatred and aggressive nature of Muslim behavior simply predicts it. Losing something like the Sistine Chapel could easily trigger the type of reaction you deem to be so far off.

  4. We are already at war
    with Islam and Muslims.
    There was no need to
apologize for words that are true.
True and have been for the last
1400 years. The curse of Islam
    has been poisoning humanity with
    it’s unique brand of perversions
and death. It will never stop
    until Islam is stopped. Perhaps
and probably not in my lifetime
but we all have our dreams and wishes.

I have a dream: A world free from
    Islam and shariah law.

  5. My learning partner (bronson)suggested that there is a major problem with any and all clergy. After all what is a priest or religious leader in most faiths? He is a person that got tired of flipping hamburgers in some MacDonald’s and thought to himself what can I do to have money and power? I could be a doctor Oh no that won’t work you have to be smart for that. Or I could be lawyer. Oh no I would have to be smart for that too. Oh I know I could be a priest.
The sad truth is you can’t expect religious leadership from most religious leaders.

We cower to speak the truth when human lives are destroyed, why would we do otherwise when mere things are desytroyed?

  7. Just so; it’s the plain truth.

And if one will “apologize” — grovel — as soon as the “Huns” start clearing their throats, before they even get to rattling their sabers, then one ought to avoid stating the truth in the first place.

  8. Ilíon: We cower to speak the truth when human lives are destroyed, why would we do otherwise when mere things are desytroyed?.

However precious life may well be, the Vatican and Sistine Chapel are not “mere things”. Both represent repositories that contain many of the most precious and iconographic works ever produced by Western civilization. Also, please remember that I speak as an agnostic who has seen the 1980’s musuem exhibit, “Treasures of the Vatican”.

The Vatican contains some of the most comprehensive historical records accumulated in one place. Similarly, the Sistine Chapel houses some of the Western world’s greatest artworks.

The destruction of either of them by Muslim terrorists could easily spark a new Crusade that might not end until Mecca and Medina rightfully lay in smoking ruins.

One can only hope that it will not come to this. Islam has already wrought enough evil in our world to be laid to waste for all time. That it needs any more justification is only a measure of the West’s insane tolerance for the intolerable.

  9. Where are those xenophobic/racist/intolerant Serbian nationalists we hear so much about? If the patriarch remains in office after disgracing his church and his nation then the nationalists are clearly not doing their job!

  10. One more proof that being moderate, tolerant, inclusive and non-extremist simply does not work with Muslims.

Look at what the Patriarch said : Muslims raise their heads when they are in equal numerical terms, and start to turn the screw once they are the majority.

This is obviously a gross understatement. Raising heads (and fists, and weapons) and turning the screw happens much, much earlier than the Patriarch dared to admit.

Last time I checked, Muslims in the UK numbered only 3 % of the population. And the screw has already been tightened half-way.

The Patriarch was in full compromise mode when he voiced his opinion, and yet he had to humiliate himself by issuing an apology.

Tolerance does not work with a fundamentally intolerant creed. Dialogue does not work with a people who hates and despises all other peoples. They have the opposite effect.

  11. “I, or rather the Lord, beseech you as Christ’s heralds to publish this everywhere and to persuade all people of whatever rank, foot-soldiers and knights, poor and rich, to carry aid promptly to those Christians and to destroy that vile race from the lands of our friends. I say this to those who are present, it is meant also for those who are absent. Moreover, Christ commands it.” – Pope Urban II

  12. People have to realise that this making a statement followed by grovelling is just another tactic used to demoralise the West.

Just as rejecting referenda results is a tactic to demoralise and detach people from decision-making, so is undermining democratic values, by first criticising undemocratic values only to concede and apologise later.

Just as the Pope did over the Byzantine text, when he grovelled and then even entered a mosque, faced Mecca and prayed.

The people in the West have no friends in politics and religion, and few if any in the media.

The goal is for Europeans to be ruled by fear under sharia.

The whole of the Christian establishment must be kicked out and replaced with people of firm conviction and beliefs that, most importantly, uphold basic freedoms and democracy.

However, one platitude that simply has to be removed from every written constitution is “freedom of religion”.

No sane person actually believes in freedom of religion. If you do, then you buy into the whole package of sharia law with its mutilations, and the African animist/pagan child sacrifices.
