The Copenhagen Choo-Choo

Copenhagen Choo-Choo

As everyone who is not a hermit or in solitary confinement already knows, the past few days have witnessed the Great Hope and Climate Change Summit in Copenhagen. Following the usual playbook for such international confabs, a gaggle of anti-globalists, communists, and hard-core anarchists showed up in force to block the streets, break windows, and fight with the police.

The Copenhagen cops employed somewhat different tactics this time when dealing with the troublemakers. Our Danish correspondent Kepiblanc sends this brief report:

As you probably know by now, there’s some sort of UN stunt going on in Copenhagen these days. Such events always attract all sorts of strange people, and this one is no different.

Aside from dignitaries like Mr. Mugabe, Mr. Gha-Daffy, Mr. Adolfinadinnerjacket, and your own Mr. Hussein Oh-Bama, a lot of the usual suspects from the looniesphere have shown up here. Most of them are harmless, naïve fools who like to go picketing and demonstrating against one thing and another, no matter what.

But the ‘international riot crowd’ showed up in force as well. You know, the ‘youths’ who excel in burning cars, smashing windows, throwing cobblestones and Molotov cocktails and one thing and another. In short: behaving, generally…

– – – – – – – –

Normally, rioting and burning a city just leads to the usual chain of events: street havoc and battles with the local cops, followed by whining and legislation about ‘police brutality’. And that’s it, onward to the next city…

Not so this time. When they started throwing fireworks and bricks around, the Danish police acted differently. They immediately surrounded the youths with wagons and cut them off from both ends of a major street.

Then they handcuffed each and every one and placed them in a position where unable to move: the so-called ‘choo-choo train’. After spending four hours sitting on the asphalt, peeing in their pants and screaming — well, not so much about ‘global warming’ (it’s below zero Celsius here) — they were transferred to open cages — Gitmo style — for the night.

So now the ‘youths’ can return to whence they came and tell everyone about the global warming and hot air in Carbonhagen…

  1. Love it. They got exactly what they deserve. Here in my little corner of Canada it’s till hovering below -35C without the windchill. I’ll take some of that warming, please. I promise not to wet my pants, cause that can be downright dangerous in this weather.

  2. Bunch of middle class neoliberals playing the distaction politics of MI5 cant wait till this lot is fed to the battle hardened common man.

  3. With apologies to Ray Charles’ version of one of my favorite songs, here’s a new one:

    Cophenhagen Choo-Choo

    Hey there, pal, whatcha say?
Step aside partner, it’s my day
To sit here in the cold and whine away…
    Break a few storefronts
    Throw a few stones,..
Beats the heck outta staying at home…

Pardon me boys, is that the Copenhagen Choo Choo?
Yes Yes You’re right on time.
Hey, notice the ground? It’s really hot-
Must be that climate change is what we’ve got.

Can you afford to board the Copenhagen Choo Choo?
Bring a diaper or two, maybe one to share.

    Oh, I’ve got my fare
And just a trifle to spare–
    Bring your own and prepare…

    For the Copenhagen Choo Choo

You won’t be leaving the street as you’d planned.
No warm cell with a place to grandstand:
    ‘Bout quarter to four
They scoop you up once more
    For a small snore
In a cage with fresh air.

When you hear the whistle blowing eight to the bar
Then you know that the choo choo is not very far
    Shuffle all the coal in
    Gotta keep it rollin’
    Whoo Whoo Copenhagen,there you are!

When I get outta here I’ll never roam
No Copenhagen Choo choo! I’ll be at home.
Safe and dry and warm, with mommy and dad
No more demonstrating, it’s too darn bad.

    Get aboard…
    All aboard…
    Copenhagen choo choo
Won’t you choo choo all the freaks home…

    Whooo….whoooo…

  4. This may be a significant setback to the Antifa tradition for wrecking havoc where possible. A lot of the worst ‘activists’ (they call themselves ‘extremists’ anyway) have been traveling from Greece and other places in order to cause a stir in Copenhagen. And they end up like this, freezing cold.

Today is snowy all over. Nice.

At Uriasposten, there’s a collage of other summit meetings and the Antifa ‘activism’ there, to be compared with Copenhagen.

  5. I read this morning that Al Gore is proposing to hold a “completer” summit in Mexico this coming summer. I guess everyone knows that this one is a lost cause, but I have to wonder how the Mexican police and detention facilities stack up. I think I’m going to enjoy it.

  6. Stress positions would have been even better. I have always wondered how todays softy middle class kids would react to a good old fashioned riot cop ass whomping and a court who gave them zero pity? As Archie Bunker used to say, “those were the days”.

  7. thll,

    Good question,

Welfare no! Tax payer money yes!

A welfare payment of £8.90 a day living cost a day wont get you very far.

In the U.K. the majority of Left wing activists such as these are from the political elite and middle class not the working class or underclass.

The political landscape in the uk has shifted the further up the social class you go the more neoliberal it is. Anyone who is looking at present day U.K. politics must understand this, British politics is not American or mainland European politics and can not be looked at through those eyes.

The labour party’s welfare reform act of 2009 will end unemployment welfare, a socialist government doing what a conservative government would not do. Those old consevatives including Mrs T. despite the rhetoric understood the dualism of subsistence welfare.

To put it simple a political force or army can be built on conditional welfare – workfare or Reichsarbeitsdienst.

Part of the collapse of the west is also down to the nihilistic mindset of the conservative right.

  8. @thll

Who funds these ‘activists” travelling costs? Is it the state via welfare benefits?

No doubt some of them are welfare bums, Euro style, but a great many are the useless offspring of the rich, the Trustafarians is what we call them here.

A Trustafarian lives off histrust fund from wealthy elders and often is a fan of Bob Marley music and dress style, that is the Rastafarians.

So some clever person combined the two and termed them “Trustafarians”. Will they ever grow up and assume real identities and be of some use to themselves or others? Probably not. They’ve literally been ‘spoiled’ — emotionally nglected and left to rot, but provided with enough money to travel around to the hot spots and make trouble.

The Copenhagen Police deserve a peace prize.

  9. Dymphna,

Maybe there is an opportunity here.

The Dymphna Clinic, for the rehabilitation of Trustafarians.

In some ways it is amusing a conference based on hot air.

  10. The Copenhagen Police deserve a peace prize.

    Yes!

Make that the Danish police – policemen by the thousand have been moved from the rest of Denmark to the capital in order to take care of our Elite.

The repeat statement from the police seems to be:

    “We’re doing fine.”

    “Things are under control.”

    “Nothing we can’t handle.”

    Etc. Highly enjoyable 🙂

  11. Copenhagen 2009 has been further testament that anything, ANYTHING that the United Nations touching turns to s*** …well, actually, in this case, the United Nations helped turn this conference into gold. 🙂

  12. Good for the Danish police! Would that they would give some lessons here!

I have been running into the Trustafarians since university. Ever ready to show up on the streets in their nice shoes and clothes that Daddy bought; scream and yell about the oil industry, the military industrial complex and US imperialism, then get in their big car or SUV (Daddy again) and go back to well appointed apartments (the rent paid with money they didn’t earn) to pat themselves on the back for “caring” and not selling out.

  13. Louise – what’s the betting that activists at the Mexico summit will be more subdued than if they were ‘activisting’ in Europe, America, or the Antipodes?
