Last week I posted a guest-article by our Flemish correspondent VH about Barry Soetoro — now more commonly known as Barack Hussein Obama — and his childhood in Indonesia. In his article, VH quoted from a childhood acquaintance of Barry’s, who recently said this about his friend:
All of Barry’s father’s relatives were religious Islamists. “We often previously asked him to the prayer room close to the house,” said Rony Amir, Barry’s teammate when living in H. Ramli Street, Jakarta.
The quote is from Rony Amir, Barry’s teammate/playmate when he was living in Jalan H Ramli (H Ramli Street, Jakarta), and is taken from the article US Senator RASA Indonesia / Bocah Negro Gemuk Itu Rajin Ke Mushala. Translated, this means: “US Senator with Indonesian flavour [or background] / The chubby Negro child was a diligent mosque visitor”). The link is here.
In these dark times there are few consolations to found, so I’ll take what meager comfort I can from picturing our president-elect as a “chubby Negro child”, the devout little Muslim boy growing up in Indonesia.
