Doing Things Professionally

This sermon from Yusuf al-Qaradhawi is from a couple of years ago, but it’s the first time I’ve seen the MEMRI video. Also, thanks to Yorkshire Miner, we have a transcript.

My favorite quotes are:
– – – – – – – –

Islam teaches us to do things professionally. Doing things professionally is a religious duty.

The Prophet said that Allah ordered to excel in everything. He imposed excellence and professionalism. Professionalism must be followed in everything. “If you kill, do it properly, and if you slaughter, do it properly.” Even when killing, you must do well.

Unfortunately, we do not excel in either military or civil industries. We import everything from needles to missiles. This is our nation. We still haven’t manufactured an engine in our Arab countries.

[…]

How come the Zionist gang has managed to be superior to us, despite being so few?

It has become superior through knowledge, through technology, and through strength. It has become superior to us through work.

We had the desert before our eyes but we didn’t do anything with it. When they took over, they turned it into a green oasis.

How can a nation that does not work progress? How can it grow?

  1. If you take out the obligatory ranting against the “Zionists”, he has it exactly right. The Arabs don’t work, and produce nothing, and wonder why they don’t progress! I think I have a clue! The best comment was about “killing right”, which tells you what’s important in their “society”. The Jews took a desert and made it bloom. The Arabs took the same desert, and it’s still there, exactly as before.

  2. nikolai: Amazing insight into their mindset given that he is touted as one of the relatively moderate ones.

Don’t fool yourself for one minute. Yusuf “Beat Your Wife Lightly” Qaradawi is no moderate. He bears almost sole responsibility for ginning up the tortured “reasoning” used in Islam’s pseudo-religious sanctification of bomb vest murderers. He is the closest thing that Muslims have to a “Pope”.

Some backgroundand a few of his quotes:

Qaradawi hosts a weekly television show called “Shariah and Life” on the Arabic-language television news network, Al Jazeera, where he also expresses his support for terror. For example, during an April 2004 show, he credited Allah with providing Palestinians “human bombs,” instead of the planes, missiles and weapons that Zionists have.

Note how he exhorts Palestinian bomb vest terrorists even as he laments that Muslims are not constructive. Qaradawi’s head must vibrate audibly from that much cognitive dissonance.

Sheikh Yusuf al-Qaradawi, the Muslim cleric currently on a controversial visit to Britain, believes that female rape victims should be punished if dressed “immodestly” when assaulted. The 78-year-old Egyptian-born scholar, allowed into the country despite his open support of Palestinian suicide bombers and his extreme views on homosexuality, says that women can be guilty of provoking a sexual attack if their dress or behaviour arouses a man.

The Koran calls upon Muslim women in general to preserve their dignity and modesty, just to save themselves from any harassment.

The disclosure of Dr al-Qaradawi’s views follows controversy over his public support for suicide bombers in Israel and his extreme interpretation of Islam on the subjects of wife beating and homosexuality.

Dr al-Qaradawi, who is based in Qatar and is the head of the European Council for Fatwa and Research, has stated that wife beating is allowed under Islam. “It is permissible for him [the husband] to beat her lightly with his hands, avoiding her face and other sensitive parts,” he said.

The website describes homosexuality as perverted, abominable and a corruption, and states that homosexuals can be executed by either burning or stoning.

Patrick Poole describes how discussion of a document called “The Project” so far has been limited to the top-secret world of Western intelligence communities. Only through the work of an intrepid Swiss journalist, Sylvain Besson, has information regarding The Project finally been made public. It was found in a raid of a luxurious villa in Campione, Switzerland on November 7, 2001. The target of the raid was Youssef Nada, who has had active association with the Muslim Brotherhood for more than 50 years.

Included in the documents seized was a 14-page plan written in Arabic and dated December 1, 1982, which outlined a 12-point strategy to “establish an Islamic government on earth” – identified as The Project. According to testimony given to Swiss authorities by Nada, the unsigned document was prepared by “Islamic researchers.” It represents a flexible, multi-phased, long-term approach to the “cultural invasion” of the West.

    Some of its recommendations include:

    • Using deception to mask the intended goals of Islamic actions

    • Building extensive social networks of schools, hospitals and charitable organizations

    • Involving ideologically committed Muslims in institutions on all levels in the West, including government, NGOs, private organizations

    • Instrumentally using existing Western institutions until they can be put into service of Islam

    • Instituting alliances with Western “progressive” organizations that share similar goals.

As Patrick Poole says, “What is startling is how effectively the Islamist plan for conquest outlined in The Project has been implemented by Muslims in the West for more than two decades.”

Included in this work was the powerful Yusuf al-Qaradawi. Sylvain Besson and Scott Burgess note the striking similarities between Qaradawi’s publication, Priorities of the Islamic Movement in the Coming Phase and The Project. Qaradawi is backed by Saudi money and founded the major English language website IslamOnline, which has several hundred full-time employees and serves as an international outlet for his teachings. He is also leader of the European Council for Fatwa and Research, which spreads its rulings on sharia-related matters to mosques across Europe. He is based in Qatar, home to the influential Arabic satellite TV channel Al Jazeera, where he runs the popular program “Sharia and Life.” The intellectual Dr. Khaled Shawkat warns that Al Jazeera “has been hijacked” by the MB “to the extent that three or four Muslim Brotherhood members sometimes appear on a single news program.”

Yusuf al-Qaradawi was an important figure during the Muhammad cartoons riots in 2006 and was indirectly responsible for attacks against the Danish and Norwegian embassies in Syria. According to Dr. Rachel Ehrenfeld and Alyssa A. Lappen, “Clearly, the riots in Denmark and throughout the world were not spontaneous, but planned and organized well in advance by Islamist organizations that support the MB, and with funding mostly from Saudi Arabia.” The purpose was to impose sharia-style restrictions on free speech on Western nations.

Qaradawi is neither moderate nor any friend of the West. He is another vicious Islamic thug seeking to weaponize every single Western virtue in order that Muslims may turn them against us. The sooner he assumes room temperature, the better off all of us are.

  3. They are simply unbelievable in their ignorant arrogance.

Kenprice, a small point on your comment. The Islamic arab armies turned an oasis developed by the Jews and Christians of the Roman “Palestine” into a desert, and so it remained until the Jews returned and restored it’s past glory.

Islam does excel at one thing, destruction.

  4. “The Arabs took the same desert, and it’s still there, exactly as before.”

That’s because these nomads brought in sheep and goats, which tear up the clumps of grass to eat, leaving bare earth.

I’m sure North Africa and Egypt was a greenzone before the arabs conquered them. I bet you the self-touting scientists can’t put 2 && 2 together and figure out – why the Sahara is advancing.

  5. Sahara advancing due to sheep and goats? Interesting 😀

One thing you are right on – it is LABOR that turns desert into fertile land.

Most will agree, it is easier to blame Jews, martians or capitalists, or to torch buildings like “greens” in USA.

  6. Saulius: Sahara advancing due to sheep and goats?

Not entirely out of the question. While desertification is a rather large scale issue, sheep and—especially—goats, do extreme environmental damage. Both crop off grasses at the ground leaving nothing behind to regrow. Due to sharp and small hoof size, both ovine and caprine species tend to “churn” their pasturage more causing immense damage to new sprouts and any regrowth.

Goats are particularly pernicious in that their agility allows them access to cliff face vegetation and even to climb trees. What’s more, being near omnivores, their browse can include twigs and other plant components whose removal severely stunts any subsequent growth.

In his book, “Earth”, hard science fiction author David Brin posits a world where goats have intentionally been made extinct in order to reduce environmental damage.

  7. Zenster, others —

I don’t know about the Gobi or the Kalahari, but I can tell you that other major desert areas — the Sahara, the deserts of the Arabian peninsula and Mesopotamia, and the American Southwest — were created by overgrazing. It was mainly by sheep in the U.S. — via the Spanish pastoralists before it was actually part of the USA — but in the Old World it was sheep and goats.

The Sahara was dry grassland up until the Neolithic. As the tribes with domesticated animals gradually spread, they let their animals overgraze an area and then moved on. Without the water-holding characteristics of the roots, the topsoil dried up and blew away.

One of the interesting side effects of the Sahara was to create the rain forest of the Amazon. Prior to the late Neolithic, the Amazon basin was mostly savannah. Then the topsoil moved west on the prevailing winds from Africa, ran into the Andes wall, and was dumped into the Amazon watershed. Several feet of rich topsoil were deposited there, allowing the gradual spread of the climax forest that we know today.

Topsoil is still blowing from North Africa to South America; you can see it in the satellite photos.

  8. Baron: I don’t know about the Gobi or the Kalahari, but I can tell you that other major desert areas — the Sahara, the deserts of the Arabian peninsula and Mesopotamia, and the American Southwest — were created by overgrazing.

I’ve also read that ancient Mesopotamian irrigation practices resulted in a toxic buildup of soil salts, much like the problem in California’s Merced County where selenium levels from subsurface drainage poisoned the Kesterson reservoir system.

  9. My father served in the Navy in WWII. He had two notable rhetorical tics: He never used the word “regulation” without preceding it with the word “horseshit” and he never used the word Arab without preceding it with the word “stinkin'”. The first was the result of his Navy service in general and the second was from his service in North Africa in particular.

I remember his reaction to the Six Day War. He was totally unsurprised at the Israeli victory.

“The stinkin’ Arabs don’t maintain their equipment.” he said. “It’s too much like work.”

  10. My father always said, ‘never trust an Arab son.’ And one day he told me a little story about why one shouldn’t.

After the taking of Beersheba by the Australian light Horse(cavalry)in Palestine in 1918. The Aussies took a large number of Turkish and German prisoners which were then kept in a temporary roped off area in the desert, but within walking distance of a local Arab village.

Every morning over the next few weeks, several of the Turkish prisoners would be found dead in the morning with their throats cut.(favored Arab method of killing)

It was determined by the Aussie guard that Abdul(favored method of naming the Arabs)from the nearby village was responsible for the deaths. The Turk soldier was much admired by the Australians because of his fighting prowess and earned the nickname, Johnny Turk, from them. Also, the Aussies had no time for Abdul or his slinky ways and he would often be harassed out of camp by the Aussies, where Abdul would attempt to sell fruit or other commodities whilst trying to steal what he could from the soldiers.

A deputation from the guard was sent to appraise General Allenby(British Commander)of the situation, which the guard hoped could be remedied by going into the village and belting a few Abduls.

Allenby denied this request and instead had the guard doubled and a deputation sent to the village Chief to insist that no more murders take place. The chief gave his assurance that the killing would cease.

Due to the perimeters size around the prisoner compound it was impossible to keep out intruders during the night. And the murders continued.

Finally the Aussie guards had enough of the Arab killing spree and a number of them descended on the village late one night with fixed bayonets and killed a number of Abduls. Overnight the murders ceased.

Allenby tried to have a number of the guards court martialled but due to lack of witnesses this action was dispensed with. The general could not reconcile the summary action taken by the Aussie guards as he believed this action had an undesirable effect on British/Arab relations.

I have checked this story out which is mostly factual and I believe it also has a lesson for us all. Terry
