Population Predictions for Sweden

In response to my recent post on demographics, I just received this note from a Swedish reader:

Your population statistics is quite interesting. May I mention a hidden factor: Abortions.

In Sweden, 2004, for 1,000 live births, there were 341 abortions. One fourth of all little children begun, were aborted (Statistical Yearbook 2006, table 96). A godless country, where men and women have no real hope…

The Net Reproduction Rate is another figure. If NRR is 1.0, population will remain stable (immigration/emigration excluded).

NRR for Sweden went below 1.0 in 1968 (sic), and has remained below since then, with the exception of 1990-1991-1992. Minima at 1983 (0.769) and 2000 (0.718). (‘The Pill’ [the one and only??] was introduced in 1964).

Still, with this quite insufficient reproduction rate, our beloved rulers tell us that total population will increase, from 9.1 million now, to 9.2 in 2010, 9.4 in 2015, 9.7 in 2020, 10.0 in 2030, and 10.5 in 2050. (Statistical Yearbook 2006, table 85.) So we know what plans they have for immigration.

I use to buy The World Almanac and Book of Facts. In the 2007 issue they have a table on p 846, “Current Population and Projections for All Countries”. They are, eh, more optimistic for Sweden: in 2025, only 9.3 million, and in 2050 only 9.1 million.

(For the U.S. they say 350 million in 2025, 420 million in 2050…)

The Propaganda Never Stops

The Terror Finance Blog has some intriguing information on the spread of Hamas propaganda on the North American continent:

… while the U.S. government attempts to stop U.S. funds from benefiting Hamas, American companies continue to facilitate Hamas fundraising and incitement by selling them Internet and television services. They thereby enable Hamas — designated a terrorist organization by the United States in 1995 — to spread its virulent anti-American propaganda, and to recruit, communicate and raise money.

T.F. names names in this post:

Hamas purchased more than 61 percent of its Internet services for 18 Web sites from U.S. and Canadian providers.

According to the Patriot Act, everyone affiliated with or supporting them are also deemed terrorists. Thus, North American corporations that sell server space and IP services to Hamas aid and abet a terrorist network. [all italics are my emphases] The Lebanon-based “Palestine-info” operation, run by Nizar Hussein, takes marching orders directly from Hamas chief Khaled Meshal in Damascus. Its 20 or so Web sites include news, media, “security force,” civilian and chat-forum outlets in eight languages targeting Middle East and Western Muslims alike, as well as the international community.

Besides English and Arabic, Palestine-info also transmits in Farsi, Urdu, Russian (for Chechens), French (for North Africans), Malaysian and Turkish. Their domains include: Palestine-info, Palestine-info-urdu.com, palestine-persian.info and palestine-info.net.Hamas also operates other Internet and television sites, including: paltime.net; palestiniangallery.com; alresalah.info; fm-m.com; felesteen.ps; al-fateh.net; mujamaa .org; islamic-block.net; alkotla.com; palestinianforum.com; aqsatv.ps and tanfithya.com.

The U.S. network-access and domain-name register companies selling services to these Hamas Web sites include: Domainbank.com; register.com; Network Solutions LLC; OnlineNIC, Inc.; GoDaddy.com; eNom, Inc.; Defender Technologies Group; and Oversee.net.

Canadian firms selling service to Hamas include: Groupe iWeb Technologies. Inc., Tucows, Inc and NIC.ps.

Evidently, this is not news. Back in May, Senator Joseph Lieberman complained:
– – – – – – – –

[It is an] “irony of the digital age that that Internet — invented by the Department of Defense as a way to ensure undisrupted communications in the event of an enemy attack — is now being used to recruit and train the terrorists who plot such lethal attacks against Americans and other Western targets.”

While it may be an irony, as Senator Lieberman says, it does not differ in kind from the many other ways that terrorists have appropriated Western technology to further their aims.

The problem lies in our passive behavior in the face of these threats, and Terror Finance suggests some solutions:

While the United States blocks business and charitable assets of those linked to Hamas, and other Islamic terror organizations, it should enforce existing laws to stop American companies from doing business with terrorists. Designating more terrorist groups to the list — such as the Iranian Revolutionary Guards — would not be as effective as it could be if, like Hamas, they can continue to spread their propaganda and raise money through U.S. and Canadian Internet providers.

Congress could also further enhance the “Know Your Customer” requirements, as in the banking industry, for all Internet service providers, specifically for network-access and domain-name register companies. This idea was proposed previously but Congress has failed to act.

Particularly for our American readers, please bookmark the Terror Finance blog. It’s not comfortable reading, but it is certainly informative. The list of contributors is notable.

The Birth Dearth in the West

A lot is written these days about declining birthrates in Western countries and Japan. The most frequent statistic cited is the number of live births per woman in a population: in order for the population to replace itself and remain stable, that number must be about 2.1.

Obviously there are many factors that could complicate the calculation of this “replacement number”. An increase in war and pestilence would tend to raise it, since more births would be necessary in order to make up for an increased death rate. In the opposite direction, improved medical care and decades of peace would tend to reduce the replacement number.

But what governs the increase or decrease in a country’s population in any given year is the number of births compared with the number of deaths.

This morning I stumbled upon a table at Infoplease which shows the birth and death rates per 1,000 population for various countries, most of them European. To determine the rate of increase or decrease, I used the following method to calculate a ratio between the population at the beginning of the year and that at the end:

(Start population of 1,000 + number of births – number of deaths) ÷ 1000, then subtract 1.

A positive ratio indicates that the population is increasing, and a negative one that it is decreasing.

For example, for Australia in 1975 the birth rate was 16.9 per 1,000, and the death rate was 7.9 per 1,000, yielding the following calculations:
1000 + 16.9 — 7.9 = 1009
1009 ÷ 1000 = 1.009
Subtract 1 and you have a ratio of .009, which is the rate of increase.

In contrast, consider Japan in 2007, with 9.2 and 9.4 respectively:
1000 + 9.2 — 9.4 = 999.8
999.8/1000 = .9998
Subtract 1 and you have a ratio of -.0002, which is a slight decrease in population.

Using these methods I built a trend for each country. This is example is for Australia:

Year   Births   Deaths   Ratio
1975   16.9   7.9   0.0090
1980   15.3   7.4   0.0079
1985   15.7   7.5   0.0082
1990   15.4   7.0   0.0084
2005   12.3   7.4   0.0049
2006   12.1   7.5   0.0046
2007   12.0   7.6   0.0044

The table of ratios for fifteen countries is below (Denmark, Sweden, and other countries of interest were not in the Infoplease table, unfortunately):

Country   1975   1980   1985   1990   2005   2006   2007

Birth and death rate ratiosUsing these figures I graphed the trends for all fifteen countries (click the graph at right for a larger version).

What’s immediately noticeable is how much of an outlier Israel is. It has a substantially higher birth rate than the others, and a remarkably low death rate. The trend of its ratio is moving downward like the other countries, but it is much farther from reaching a stable or declining population than any other nation in the West.

Birth and death rate ratiosThe second graph shows the same group of countries, but without Israel (click the graph at right for a larger version). Removing the latter country allows the other trend lines to spread out, and makes it easier to see them.

There are five countries with a negative ratio, meaning that their population is in decline. Belgium has just reached the zero mark, and will presumably cross the line itself in the next few years. The United States is the only country currently showing an increase in the ratio.

Japan’s ratio has undergone a spectacular drop into the negative over the last three decades.

Several factors can contribute to a higher death rate, such as persistent warfare or civil insurrection, bad medical care, or a large proportion of elderly people in the population. The last condition probably accounts for some of the difference in death rates for Western countries. What else could explain why Australia’s death rate is so much lower than, say, Belgium’s? There is, of course, the possibility that countries with the most thoroughly socialized medical systems have inferior health care, and thus a higher death rate.

An aging population obviously also contributes to a lower birth rate. Add to that condition the disincentives to childbearing so readily provided by the welfare systems of Western countries, particularly in Europe, and one can see why the population in these countries is headed for decline.

*   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *

I presume these statistics are drawn solely from citizens of the countries involved, leaving out any non-citizen residents. In some countries, such as Britain, citizenship is granted fairly quickly and readily to most immigrants, so that the birth rate must inevitably be skewed by the demographic proclivities of the new citizens.

I suspect that if there were a way to remove non-native citizens and their children and grandchildren from the figures, the trend for most of Europe would look very much like that of Japan, which allows almost no immigration.

The United States is undergoing its own demographic shift with the massive migration of Latin Americans across its southern borders. If the last three decades of this influx were removed, our trend line would not be so healthy, and would probably resemble Western Europe’s.

But all of these conclusions are speculative. I leave you with the raw data, the calculated figures, and the graphs. Make of them what you will.

The Counterjihad Calendar: July

Stop the Sharia Clock!

The month of July in the Counterjihad Calendar is represented by The United States of America.

Here in the U.S.A. we are not as Islamized as Europe, but we’re working on it. A few more legal victories for CAIR, the election of a Democrat as president, another five years of lax border controls, and we’ll catch up with our European friends.

I have chosen the Statue Liberty as the United States’ iconic monument for the calendar.

“Give me your terrorists, your imams, your huddled madrassas, yearning to enslave us.”

(Click for a larger image):

Enough!

I had to pick and choose from the available sites for a list of American Counterjihad websites, and even then they overflowed the sidebar and spread across the bottom of the image. It was necessary to leave out a lot of good websites, including most of the milbloggers, in order to cull the list.

To restrict the list a little bit, the sites I chose have a major anti-jihad focus, or concentrate on combating PC and Multiculturalism, or focus on foreign affairs and national security. Even so, I had to leave a lot of them out.

So… I’ve selected the following list of American Counterjihad websites for the calendar.

I still need help collecting URLs for the remaining countries. The goal is to fill up each sidebar with Counterjihad sites.

Once again, the twelve countries I will be using for the 2008 calendar are:

  • France
  • Denmark
  • Germany
  • India
  • Sweden
  • Italy
  • The U.S.A.
  • Greece
  • Britain
  • Australia
  • The Netherlands
  • Spain

For each country involved, I invite readers to post suggested Counterjihad links in the comments, or send them via email. I particularly need links for Britain, the Netherlands, Spain, and Greece.

With luck, the 2008 Counterjihad Calendar will be finished and available at our Café Press site sometime in September.

Next up on the calendar is Greece, for the month of August. I especially need Greek links — I have almost no Greek Counterjihad sites on my list.

Dining Out à la Haram

RisottogateLast week’s big stink in Turkey arose from a pile of risotto. The Turkish Interior Minister Osman Gunes was served the delicacy by the governor of Mugla, Temel Kocaklar. Mr. Gunes was so taken with his meal that he called for the chef to ask how it was made. Upon learning that the risotto had contained a glass of wine, the Minister went off his trolley and fired the provincial governor.

This incident was widely reported in Turkey. Opinions on “Risottogate” were offered by leading theologians, who found in favor of the governor and against the fundamentalist and hot-tempered interior minister:

“Alcohol consumed in pasta is not a sin because the alcohol evaporates while it is being cooked,” said famous theologian Yasar Nuri Ozturk, while his colleagues Suleyman Ates, equally renowned, affirmed: “If a person consumes unknowingly a meal cooked in alcohol it is not a sin. It is enough to ask forgiveness from God.”

A poll taken by a newspaper in Ankara showed a sharp increase in interest in risotto in restaurants and grocery stores.

This Osman Gunes has a case of arrested spiritual development. It reminds me of an incident from my childhood. I was about seven, and as any Catholic from the old days remembers, one didn’t eat meat on Fridays back then. However, one particular Friday, after leaving my peanut butter sandwich unattended at a picnic, I came back to find it crawling with ants. They were eating my lunch! Knowing it was going to be a long stretch till supper time, I swiped most of the little bugs off my food and ate whatever of them I couldn’t remove. My friends were scandalized: in consuming the ants, I had eaten meat on Friday: doom awaited me.
– – – – – – – –
Back in those days, as surely as Friday was followed by Saturday, on Saturday afternoons we went to confession. My conscience would not allow for dietary deviations and so I told the priest about my sin of eating “meat” on Friday.

Fortunately, the good monsignor hearing my confession was more spiritually evolved than the minister from Ankara.

“Were you very hungry?” he asked. I admitted as much.

“Was there any other food to be had at your picnic?”

I said no.

“Well, then, you did the right thing,” said the monsignor. “God wants you to grow up healthy and strong and you won’t do that if you allow the ants to eat your meals. Besides, it would be a sin to waste food on some silly little bugs, wouldn’t it?” he asked.

We then went on then to discuss my permanent sin: I was always in trouble for talking in class. For that character fault I was given the usual three Hail Marys and absolution.

*   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *

If a grown man goes off the track over an incident the imams say is no sin, I suspect that the honorable Minister Gunes must have wanted to fire the provincial governor anyway. If not, he is merely a hot-headed fundamentalist who knows how to ruin a good dinner.

I wonder what fate befell the chef?

Oh, No! It’s Happening Again!

Mohammed as a RondellhundWell, it might be, anyway.

I reported on Thursday that Lars Vilks’ blasphemous depictions of Mohammed as a dog had finally appeared in a Swedish newspaper. Since then other newspapers have followed suit and published the Modoggies, both in their paper and online versions.

And now some Muslims in Örebro have staged a protest against the drawings. Is this the first in a series, a reprise of the Motoon crisis that will end with the burning of Swedish embassies and riots in Islamabad and Damascus?

Update: Steen sends a link to this video on NA of the demonstration. Everything’s in Swedish, but there is some footage of the demo. I notice people hold up signs depicting dripping blood, but I don’t know the significance of it.

Carpenter has translated a report from Tvärsnytt:

Protestations against publication of Mohammed-dog

Muslim demonstration
A group of Muslims protested Friday against the publication in Nerikes Allehanda of the artist Lars Vilks’ drawings of Mohammed as a roundabout dog.

The demonstration began at 1400 hours on Järntorget in central Örebro, and the group then went to the paper’s editorial offices. About eighty protesters were there.

The newspaper Nerikes Allehanda chose to publish the “Mohammed as a Rondellhund” drawing in its editorial section.

“If Lars Vilks can’t display with his drawings in which he’s insolent and blasphemous to Islam, then somebody else on another occasion can censor a Muslim artist depicting his belief — those liberties rely on each other,” said Lars Ströman, the editor of Nerikes Allehanda in a recent comment to Tvärsnytt.

– – – – – – – –

Lars Vilks’ Mohammed-drawing has been pulled from many exhibitions this summer. The reason is the strong reactions that occurred when Jyllands-Posten published several caricatures of Mohammed.

Keep an eye on this one; it will be interesting to see where it goes.

Carpenter has the latest on the Modoggies here.

Fjordman, in his post on Thursday, said this about Sweden’s Muslim immigrants and the Social Democrats:

In 2006, the Muslim Association of Sweden demanded in a letter, signed by its leader Mahmoud Aldebe, separate family laws regulating marriage and divorce, public schools with imams teaching homogeneous classes of Muslims children their religion and the language of their original homeland, and a “mosque in every municipality to be built through interest-free loans made available by the local municipalities.” This to demonstrate “Islam’s right to exist in Sweden” and to “heighten the status of and respect towards Muslims.” The demands were rejected by the Social Democrats then, but it now appears as if they have recognized that they need to cooperate with the fast-growing Muslim community if they want to regain power, so we shouldn’t be surprised to see calls for the use of sharia law in family matters by an otherwise officially feminist party.

As an illustration of Fjordman’s words, a Swedish reader sent along this photo from sossefritt.se:

Allah ska med!

The caption reads:

In Sweden today there are 450,000 Muslims. We need votes; you need allowances and mosques.

Allah must come along.

The last line is a wordplay on the motto of the Social Democrats: alla ska med, “all must come along.”
– – – – – – – –
The original image at sossefrit.se listed the number of Muslims as 150,000. Our Swedish reader insists that the lower figure is out of date, and that 450,000 is a reasonable estimate.

He asked me to use my photoshopping skills to change the number, and I have gladly complied.

Allah Ska Med!

The Year of the Jackpot

The Jackpot

Back in the early 1950s the science fiction writer Robert Heinlein wrote a story for Galaxy magazine called “The Year of the Jackpot”.

The protagonist is a statistician named Potiphar Breen, who consults as an actuary for various insurance companies. He deals with probability and statistical trends in his work, but his hobby is the study of various cycles in human behavior and natural phenomena.

To entertain himself he has plotted graphs of various cycles — the rise and fall of the hemlines of women’s skirts, the incidence of various diseases, climatic fluctuations, and so on. He has noticed that whenever several of the significant trendlines bottom out at the same time, a major human catastrophe inevitably occurs, such as the French Revolution or the Civil War, with the most recent being the Great Crash of 1929.

Breen, observing that all the trendlines are about to bottom out again, and to an extreme not seen before in human history, decides to retire to a cabin in the desert with provisions and ammo to wait out the coming troubles. The situation deteriorates, with earthquakes, contagion, insurrection, and anarchy, culminating in a mushroom cloud rising high over the city of Los Angeles.

But that’s not the real jackpot. I don’t want to spoil the ending of the story; you’ll have to read it for yourselves…

*   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *

Heinlein’s famous story came to mind yesterday when I read two back-to-back posts in the Brussels Journal. The first concerned a group that has applied for a permit to demonstrate in Brussels on 9-11. No, it’s not SIOE this time; this is an Arab group. AEL wants to protest about the Islamophobia exhibited by racist groups such as SIOE, and claims that its mission has nothing to do with religion.

Hmm… The first question that comes to mind is: Will Freddy allow this one to take place?

Here’s what Paul Belien has to say:

The Arab-European League (AEL), a pro-Hezbollah organization of Arab immigrants in Belgium and the Netherlands, is rallying its members to march in Brussels on 11 September “against Islamophobia and racism in Europe.” The AEL demonstration is a response to the request by the Danish-British-German organization Stop the Islamisation of Europe (SIOE) for permission to demonstrate on 9/11 in front of the European Union’s buildings in Brussels against the introduction of Sharia laws in Europe.

Two weeks ago the SIOE demonstration was banned by Freddy Thielemans, the mayor of Brussels. According to Mr Thielemans the SIOE demonstration is a criminal offence because it “incite[s] to discrimination and hatred, which we usually call racism and xenophobia. [This] is forbidden by a considerable number of international treaties and is punished by our penal laws and by the European legislation.”

[…]

Yesterday the Arab-European League issued a press release emphasizing that its own demonstration on 11 September, which so far has not received the mayor’s permission (Thielemans is waiting for the advice of the police), will not criticize any religion. “The AEL respects everyone’s religious convictions, culture and language […]. The demand for respect for every religious conviction is the central theme [of the demonstration].” The AEL says that freedom of expression is an absolute right, stressing that the organization did not ask for the SIOE demo to be forbidden. “However, the right to have one’s religious convictions, culture and language respected is an equally absolute right.”

The AEL was founded in Belgium in 2000. Its founder, Lebanese-born Hezbollah-member Dyab Abu Jahjah, has called the 9/11/2001 attacks “sweet revenge.” Following the Danish cartoon affair the AEL, advocating unrestricted freedom of speech, published anti-Semitic cartoons which deny the Holocaust. Though such denial is illegal in Belgium, the Belgian authorities failed to take any action. The AEL also demands that Arabic be recognized as an official language in Belgium.

Mr. Belien’s next post was about the deconstruction of Belgium. The little that I know about Belgium came from Paul Belien himself; his book A Throne in Brussels is highly recommended if you want to learn some Belgian history.
– – – – – – – –
The two major regions of Belgium are Flanders and Wallonia, speaking Dutch and French respectively. The Flemish-speakers of Belgium have been at odds with the Walloons in recent years, and the matter seems about to come to a head, with a push towards secession from some members of the Flemish parliament:

Belgium is rapidly unraveling. Following the June 10th Belgian general elections, won by Flemish-secessionist parties, the Belgian parties seem unable to form a government coalition.

Belgium is a multinational state, the model for the European Union’s efforts to turn Europe into a single multinational state. Belgium is made up of 60% Dutch-speaking, free-market oriented Flemings and 40% French-speaking, predominantly Socialist Walloons. The Belgian Constitution stipulates that the government should consist of 50% Flemings and 50% Walloons. Belgian governments always have to rely on a majority in both Flanders and Wallonia, since major decisions need the support of both parts of the country. In practice this means that 20% of the population (i.e. half of the Walloons) can veto every decision. This has made the Parti Socialiste (PS), the Walloon Socialist Party, the power broker in the country.

The refusal of the PS to reform the welfare state system has caused growing Flemish frustration, and turned what used to be a linguistic conflict into a dispute about economic and welfare policies. While Flanders pays most of Belgium’s taxes the bulk of the money flows to Wallonia. There a welfare-receiving electorate votes for parties which for over three decades have been blocking any attempts at reforming the collapsing welfare system.

[…]

Last week, Prof. Em. Robert Senelle, one of Belgium’s most prominent constitutionalists, a Flemish Socialist and formerly a teacher of the Belgian Crown Prince, advised the Flemings to annul the Belgian Constitution and solemnly declare Flemish sovereignty. Following this advice Filip Dewinter, the leader of the secessionist Vlaams Belang party, the largest party in the Flemish Regional Parliament, called upon the Flemish Parliament to convene and declare Flanders an independent country.

Yesterday another Flemish constitutionalist, Prof. Paul Van Orshoven said that “intelligent people” should consider a Flemish secession from Belgium. “Because the situation cannot go on where a minority denies the majority its legitimate and democratic aspirations.” Prof. Van Orshoven said that if Flanders secedes this obviously violates the Belgian Constitution, which requires that the Walloons approve of such a decision. He referred, however, to the historical precedent of the Tennis Court Oath. The Tennis Court Oath refers to 20 June 1789, when the representatives of France’s third estate [the bourgeoisie] declared themselves to be the true representatives of the nation. “In the spirit of the Tennis Court Oath it is permitted that, even if it violates the Belgian constitutional rules, a simple majority of the Dutch-speakers in the Belgian Chamber of Representatives and the Senate declare to secede.”

Apart from the media in Belgium and the neighbouring Netherlands, the international papers and broadcasters have hardly reported about the disintegration of the EU’s host country. On Tuesday a survey of the Dutch [Netherlandish] television network RTL4 showed that 77% of the inhabitants of the Netherlands are in favour of the Netherlands and Flanders merging into one country.

As Mr. Belien points out, if Belgium fractures, the resulting seismic shock will spread far beyond Brabant and the Netherlands. If Flanders and Wallonia can no longer make a go of their relationship, what of the much larger polygamous marriage that is the European Union? Finland and Portugal have far less in common than do the two major components of Belgium.

Add to this the convergence of the Islamists and the anti-Islamists in the capital of Belgium on September 11th, and you can see the jackpot beginning to take shape. If more than a few disgruntled Counterjihadists show up in Brussels, the reaction of the mayor, the police, and the media will have a profound affect on Europe and the rest of the Western world.

And there are other trendlines forming as well. Look at the long curve of the Iranian nuclear program, heading towards its nadir. When will that be? No one knows, but it’s coming soon.

Or consider the arc of Pervez Musharraf’s career in Pakistan. When will his curve bottom out? What will happen to Pakistan’s nukes when the imams take power in Islamabad?

One could construct several curves, one for each European country with a large number of Muslim immigrants, each tracing the descent into sharia and dhimmitude. Britain and Sweden seem to be in a race for the bottom, with France and the Netherlands close behind.

And don’t forget the trajectory of Hillary Clinton’s political career. Whether its turning point will constitute a trough or a crest is a matter of personal opinion…

It’s easy to see the different curves converging. The jackpot is on its way.

Keep an eye out for that mushroom cloud.

Castro’s Death…?

According to Babalu, Castro is dead…we should hear the official news today:

My cellphone has not stopped ringing for the past ten minutes. Various sources inform that an announcement will come within the next few minutes from the Cuban government on Cuban TV and media. Stay tuned and we’ll see if we’ve been manipulated once again or if today is the birth date of Cuba’s liberty.

Update: Here’s the deal and what I know up to now, as of 1500 hours, August 24, 2007:

First, South Florida Law Enforcement is on alert. An EOC (Emergency Operations Center) has been set-up and manned somewhere in Homestead.

Im also told Local and State government agencies have food, bottled water, and other necessities – valued in the millions – stored and/or staged in Homestead at or near the EOC.

I am presently verifying whether Coast Guard and DHS and Border Patrol agencies are on high alert. (Verified 01445)

Local News stations are abuzz, mostly on reports very much like the above, with massive law enforcemnt mobilizations throughout Dade county.

Local emergency medical services notified to be on alert by law enforcement agencies.

Im told – and still awaiting confirmation – that buses in Havana have been recalled to terminals and that Cuban workers have been sent home. (still unconfirmed 1500)

Again, I am loathe to publish the title as I did in this post, but I would be remiss in not telling you all what I know, right now. All of my sources are good but the Cuban government, as we all know, is masterful at controlling media and information and we should not rule out that this and last Friday’s “news” have been and are feelers to see what the reactions are here, as well as who reacts within the island. If we’ve been duped we’ve been duped. If not, then bust out the champagne.

NOTE: When I tried to access Babalu’s main page, a notice appeared saying that the “account has been suspended.”

If anyone knows why, please let us in on it…

A Brussels Perspective

The British writer Paul Weston, whose work has appeared frequently at Gates of Vienna, sends the following analysis concerning the 9-11 SIOE demonstration, including his own modest proposal.

SIOEA Brussels Perspective

by Paul Weston

There has been a great deal of electronic ink spilled over the banning of SIOE’s proposed demonstration on September 11 in Brussels. The on-off-on again situation seems fairly complicated, but a few simple questions need to be asked.

1.   Does SIOE have a legitimate claim in their belief that the traditional culture of Europe is being detrimentally undermined in favour of the non-secular culture of Islam?

Ten years ago, little was heard of Islam in Europe. Today, we can read endless proven stories of segregated swimming pools, halal meat served in public institutions, religious studies in schools operating with an anti-Christian and pro-Islamic bias, areas of European cities operating under Islamic law, a blind eye turned to polygamy and police forces failing to uphold the law of the land for fear of violence, choosing instead to clamp down on indigenous Europeans who speak out.

Whilst all of this is happening, Saudi Arabia is pumping billions of dollars into the building of Mosques within which imams call for the overthrow of the democratic West, to be replaced by a global Islamic Caliphate. Their propaganda is eagerly absorbed. 40% of Muslims in Britain wish to see their adopted country run under Sharia law.

The Princeton History professor Bernard Lewis believes that the demographic imbalance between Muslims and indigenous Europeans will bring about an Islamic Europe this century; a scenario admitted by European leaders such as Swedish integration minister Jens Orback, who has stated, “We must be open and tolerant towards Islam and Muslims because when we become a minority, they will be so towards us.”

All of the above is evidence of an existing and accelerating Islamisation of Europe.

SIOE’s claim is therefore legitimate.

– – – – – – – –

2.   Is SIOE a legitimate movement?

SIOE is a legal entity. Its website carries no inflammatory or racist remarks, it does not call for an end to Muslim immigration, nor the deportation of Muslims from Europe. It exists, in its own words, “to combat the overt and covert expansion of Islam (not Muslims) in Europe,” and condemns racism as “the lowest form of human stupidity.” It has no history of violence or incitement to racial hatred and has made no suggestion that this will change in the future.

SIOE is therefore a legitimate movement.

3.   Does mayor Thielemans have a legitimate cause for banning the demonstration?

The reasons he has given to date are:

One: The local Muslim community in Brussels will be offended by the presence of SIOE and may react violently.

Two: That SIOE and its supporters, by their mere presence in Brussels, will contravene Belgian and European Union law regarding incitement to racial hatred, as laid down by the European Monitoring Centre on Racism and Xenophobia.

In argument of his first reason, mayor Thielemans can only turn down a march, based on security reasons, if the local police had so advised him. As the police gave their permission, mayor Thielemans has gone beyond the remit of his office.

As regards his second reason, both Belgian and EU law allow the Freedom of Peaceful Assembly. There is no law or precedent that allows Thielemans to pre-judge the actions of a peacefully planned demonstration, especially if its organisers have no history of violence.

If any instances of incitement to racial hatred were shown on the day, then those individuals should be arrested, and if the organisers overtly supported those arrested, then the march should be disbanded.

But that can only happen on the day. It cannot be pre-judged.

Both reasons are therefore illegitimate.

*   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *

To sum up, a legitimate body (SIOE) in pursuance of a legitimate belief, having followed the correct legal procedures, have now illegitimately been denied their citizens right to Freedom of Peaceful Assembly.

As such, under Belgian and EU law, the human rights of the SIOE and its thousands of supporters have been illegally violated.

I would therefore make the following suggestion:

A Class Action lawsuit be filed on behalf of SIOE and its supporters at the European Court of Human Rights, against mayor Thielemans and the Belgian City Council, in the amount of one hundred million Euros.

And yes, I am serious.

Tintin Beats the Rap — For Now

As I reported yesterday, Tintin is a racist, or at least the book Tintin in the Congo is a racist book.

In Sweden a complaint of hets mot folkgrupp — agitation against an ethnic group — was filed against the publishers of a new edition of the book. Now it’s reported that the Attorney General has declined to take up the case.

According to AFP:

Tintin in the CongoJudicial authorities in Sweden have rejected an attempt by a Swede of Congolese origin to slap a ban on “Tintin in the Congo” on racist grounds, the plaintiff said on Thursday.

Jean-Dadou Monya, 42, had lodged a legal action against Bonnier Carlsen, publisher of the Swedish translation of the Herge comic book, demanding that it be pulled from bookshops and libraries.

Monya said that prosecutors had written to him to say they had decided not to pursue the case for procedural reasons — notably because the timeframe for lodging such an action had been exceeded.

So it seems that Tintin and Hergé aren’t really off the hook yet — they’ve just be released on a technicality.
– – – – – – – –

“I had expected that,” he said. “For me, the important thing was to draw attention to the racist character of this comic book which no long has a place in 21st century society.”

“This book is aimed at children and it is not good that they read racist things, such as when Tintin screams at Africans and treats them as lazy.”

[…]

Earlier in 2007, a Congolese student in Belgium initiated legal action to have it banned from sale there, while Borders bookstores in Britain is selling it as an adult graphic novel after yanking it from its children’s sections.

I won’t get into the merits of the case against Hergé on the basis of his alleged racism. Everybody involved in this nonsense is guilty of “presentism”, the persistent prejudice against people from our cultural past.

So we know better than they do, eh? We’ve become wise and morally superior, and have outgrown all the childish notions entertained by our ancestors, haven’t we?

I’m having none of it. The past is a foreign country; they do things differently there.

I’ve got an idea: let’s just simply ban the past.

It worked for the Soviet Union, didn’t it?

Modoggies Make it into the Swedish MSM, But…

Lars Vilks in the MSM…The secular Muslims who planned to exhibit Lars Vilks’ drawings have withdrawn their offer, according to the latest reports from our Swedish correspondent Carpenter.

At last the Swedish media have overcome their fear of giving offense to Muslims — or perhaps of having their offices burned down — and printed a Modoggie. One of Mr. Vilks’ “Mohammmed as a Rondellhund” pieces (shown at right) was printed in Dagens Nyheter. The caption under the image reads, “‘Mohammed as a roundabout-dog’ isn’t primarily a caricature of Mohammed or ‘Islam’ — but of the world of art. And judging by everything, it hit the bull’s-eye.”

Here’s what Carpenter said:

You wrote in one of your posts that you haven’t yet seen any modoggies in Sweden’s MSM. Well, now you will.

How many Scandinavian flags will burn this time? They seem to be out of Danish flags in the Middle East (and I’m not talking about pastries). Thus, Swedish flags might come in handy in a possible flag-burning rally!

Credit to Dan Jönsson of DN’s culture-pages, who wrote the article (on the reaction of Sweden’s art-elite to the modoggies). DN’s culture-section is usually pervaded by political correctness and leftist-propaganda. Guess they wanted to make an exception today…

The online version doesn’t seem to have the drawing.

Last week I reported that a group of secular Muslims had decided to exhibit Mr. Vilks’ Modoggies. Now they seem to have changed their minds. Here’s what Carpenter says:

– – – – – – – –

In an Expressen op-ed, the editor of the magazine Minaret Mohamed Omar and Hooman Anvari of SEMUS announce that they’ve withdrawn exhibition of Vilks’ Mohammed-drawings

Ingmarie Froman of Svenska Dagbladet dared Vilks to draw an anti-semitic “Jewish sow” on August 21th. Since Vilks accepted the challenge and drew one of those, Omar and Anvari claim it as a reason not to exhibit..

I think it was the right decision by Vilks to draw a “Jewish sow”, although I don’t consider Jews as “capitalistic sows who destroy peaceful villages”, as Vilks — ironically and not meaning it (as far as I know!) — described them.

Well, Omar and Anvari either actually are indignant over the anti-Semitic (yet ironic) character of the drawing, or luckily have found a pretext not to exhibit.

If the Rondellhund crisis escalates further, I’ll be doggedly posting updates.

Fat Freddy

Freddy ThielemansThe British writer Paul Weston, who guest-posts here from time to time, was very angered by Brussels Mayor Freddy Thielemans’ decision to deny permission for the SIOE demonstration on 9-11. He vented his feelings by writing a satire about Freddy “A Peculiar Night In My Local”, which was just a little too risqué to meet Gates of Vienna’s prudish publishing standards.

It is, however, quite amusing. My favorite line:

Given his varied physical problems, I think the least we can do is to maintain that mayor Thielemans is heterosexual, no matter what evidence comes to light in the coming months.

The entire satire can be found here.

How the West Lost the Cold War

The Fjordman Report

The noted blogger Fjordman is filing this report via Gates of Vienna.
For a complete Fjordman blogography, see The Fjordman Files. There is also a multi-index listing here.

The girlfriend of a politician from the Sweden Democrats, a small party critical of mass immigration, was recently attacked at her home outside Stockholm. The young woman was found bound with duct tape in the apartment block where she lives with Martin Kinnunen, chairman of the youth wing of the SD. Three men had forced their way into the couple’s apartment and held the 19-year-old at knife point. Kinnunen tells of several threats and anonymous phone calls to the family. He blames the media for systematically portraying the SD as monsters and thus for legitimizing aggression against them, and claims that the Swedish democracy is a sham.

AntifaAntifascistisk Aktion, a group that supposedly fights against “racists,” openly brag about numerous physical attacks against persons with their full name and address published on their website. Only a week after this group harassed a Swedish judge and vandalized his house, members demonstrated alongside the Swedish police, the Swedish government and the Swedish media establishment during Pride Week, Stockholm’s annual gay celebration, in August 2007. At the very end of the Pride Parade marched a group of black-clothed and masked representatives of AFA. Adjacent to them marched a number of policemen, including members of the Swedish Gay Police organization.

AFA PrideAt their website, AFA claim to have beaten several homophobes during the event, at least one of whom ended up in a hospital. They are Socialists, and as Socialists they are convinced that progress can only be made through struggle, and it is implicit that they mean violent struggle: “If we want to fight against capitalism, the working class needs to be united, and in order to be so intolerance cannot be tolerated. However, if we want to fight against intolerance we have to defeat capitalism as an extension of that struggle. Hence anti-fascism, feminism and the struggle against homophobia go hand in hand with the class struggle!”

AFAAccording to Politikerbloggen, AFA have produced a manual about how to use violence in order to paralyze and hurt their opponents, and they encourage their members to study it closely. Meanwhile, senior members of law enforcement are too busy waving plastic penises to care. It’s all for tolerance, and then there is this small group at the back, behind the police, the media and the cultural and political establishment, ready to assault, beat up and hospitalize anybody deemed to be insufficiently tolerant.
The Invisible Party
Several of the Centre Party’s offices were vandalized before the elections in 2006 in protest against a proposal for new labor agreements. This was done by a coalition of left-wing extremists calling themselves the Invisible Party. AFA participated, as they proudly proclaim on their website. The centre-right coalition government which gained power that year consists of four parties including the Centre Party. A year later, representatives from this government walked alongside the same group which had attacked their offices a few months earlier.

Broderskapsrörelsen (“The Brotherhood”), an organization of Christian members of the Swedish Social Democratic Party, has decided to establish a network for people of other faiths, which largely seems to mean Muslims. Its leader Peter Weiderud says that “I’m incredibly happy that a unanimous congress now leaves the door open for Muslims and others to work together with us in the Brotherhood; this is going to enrich us all and help the [Social Democratic] Party to better influence the Swedish society.” For Abdulkader Habib, active within the Muslim Brotherhood, the decision is a historic step which shows that the dividing lines in society do not go between religions, but within religions: “Faith and politics are intertwined for many Muslims, which is why the decision to create this network is a key to the crucial work for integration that we need to do.” “We shouldn’t disregard the importance of people’s [religious] faith,” says deputy leader Cecilia Dalman-Eek. “At the same time, this is both instructive and inspiring for us Christians within the Brotherhood. This is about an exciting growth of new mass movements and is a part of the new Sweden.”
– – – – – – – –
Sayyid QutbThe Social Democrat Ola Johansson, a member of the Brotherhood, has referred to the book Social Justice in Islam by Sayyid Qutb, the notorious Muslim Brotherhood member who has become the spiritual guide for Islamic Jihad terrorists worldwide, as a proof that Muslims support the welfare state and can thus make common cause with the Socialists.

According to writer Nima Sanandaji, the Social Democrats have started fishing for votes with the help of radical Muslims clergies such as the influential leader Mahmoud Aldebe. In 1999, Aldebe proposed that sharia, Islamic law, be introduced in Sweden. In 2003 he involved himself in a heated debate regarding an incident of honor killing where a Kurdish girl was murdered by her two uncles. Aldebe forcefully defended the perpetrators and viewed the debate regarding honor-related murders as an attack against the Islamic religion.

The Social Democrats narrowly lost the elections in 2006, and appear to have decided that the way to regain and maintain power is to import voters, a strategy adopted by many of their sister parties in Western Europe. The Muslim Association of Sweden is generally viewed as ideologically inspired by the Muslim Brotherhood.

The current leader of the Social Democrats, Mona Sahlin, thinks that “the Sweden Democrats are a right-wing party. It is a misogynistic and xenophobic party.” The “party is a threat to a Sweden that I believe many of us love — an open, unprejudiced and tolerant Sweden.”

Mona SahlinWhatever else one thinks about that party, I’m not so sure the Muslim Brotherhood are less “misogynistic.” According to journalist Kurt Lundgren, Sahlin, expected to become the next Prime Minister, was a participant in the Pride Festival where she was graduated, after several questions, to the F***ing Medal Award. Has she given some thought to what effect this will have in a country with exploding rape statistics? According to the blogger Dick Erixon, the number of reported rapes in Sweden is now three times as high as in New York. NY has roughly the same number of inhabitants, but it is a metropolis, whereas Sweden is a country with mostly rural areas and villages. Swedish girls are called “infidel whores” on a regular basis and are increasingly scared to go outside, yet the nation’s arguably most powerful woman takes the F***ing Medal Award. How will that be perceived by Muslim immigrants?

Moreover, how will her views on sexual liberation be reconciled with her party’s cooperation with the Muslim Brotherhood, since several of its senior international leaders have indicated that gays should be killed? The Swedish Church has recently announced that it will allow gay couples to marry in church. Will Sahlin and the Social Democrats also make sure that gay couples should be allowed to marry in mosques controlled by the MB? More interestingly, will AFA attack them for homophobia if they refuse?

Marcos Cantera Carlomagno in 1995 published a PhD thesis at Lund University describing a series of letters sent by Per Albin Hansson, leader of the Social Democrats and Prime Minister between 1932 and 1946, who worked for the establishment of “Folkhemmet,” the People’s Home, as the Swedish welfare state model became known as. Hansson was a dear pen pal with Italy’s Fascist leader Mussolini and praised the corporate, Fascist system where the entire economy and each individual were intimately tied to and subordinate to the state. Hansson was positively disposed to Fascism and saw his welfare state as a related concept. After mentioning his work in a local newspaper, Carlomagno was called by his supervisor who stated in anger that his scholarship would be cut off. Carlomagno’s work was totally ignored by the entire media and political establishment in Sweden when it appeared in the 1990s.

Why did this information meet with such repression? Because the power of the political and cultural establishment is not based on reasoned discussion but on shaming opponents and branding them as evil with words loaded with emotions and taboo. Terms such as “racist”, “Fascist”, and “Nazi” automatically shut down any rational discussion of a subject. The irony is that a similar strategy was employed with great success by…..the Nazis.

Adolf Hitler described how to use “spiritual terror” to intimidate and silence opponents, a technique he learned from watching the Socialists and the Social Democrats. He understood “the infamous spiritual terror which this movement exerts, particularly on the bourgeoisie, which is neither morally nor mentally equal to such attacks; at a given sign it unleashes a veritable barrage of lies and slanders against whatever adversary seems most dangerous, until the nerves of the attacked persons break down and, just to have peace again, they sacrifice the hated individual… Conversely, they praise every weakling on the opposing side, sometimes cautiously, sometimes loudly, depending on the real or supposed quality of his intelligence.”

In 2006, the newspaper Dagens Nyheter reported that following recommendations from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, priests in the Swedish Church applied German race laws from 1937 onwards. According to Lund University’s Professor Anders Jarlert, who led the research, any Swede who wanted to marry an Aryan German was forced to sign an affirmation stating that none of the German’s grandparents were Jewish. History Professor Stig Ekman told DN that Sweden’s culture of silence and secrecy is one reason why this is appearing only now, generations later. In 1937, the Swedish government was controlled by the Social Democrats, yet despite this evidence that they applied Nazi race laws, party members still get away with denouncing critics of their immigration policies as neo-Nazis, racists or Fascists.

Hitler in SwedenIn the book The New Totalitarians, the British historian Roland Huntford in the early 1970s pointed out that Socialist professor Gunnar Myrdal and his wife Alva, both highly influential ideologists in developing the Swedish welfare state, had intimate connections with the German academic world during the Nazi age. Gunnar Myrdal served as both a member of parliament and later as a government minister for the Social Democrats during this period. According to Huntford: “The professor was then a Nazi sympathizer, publicly describing Nazism as the movement of youth and the movement of the future. In Myrdal’s defence, it must be pointed out that, whatever his other propensities, Hitler did have advanced ideas on social welfare, and that the social ideology of the German Nazis and the Swedish Social Democrats had much in common. Until the mid 1930s, Nazism had considerable attractions for those who favoured a benevolent and authoritarian state.”

Gunnar and Alva Myrdal promoted the idea of positive eugenics and forced sterilization programs against those with “weak genes.” This started in Sweden even before Nazi Germany, and it continued longer.

The Nazis called themselves national Socialists, and they took the Socialist component of their ideology quite seriously. They never nationalized all assets of production as the Communists did. They left nominal ownership in private hands, but production was in reality controlled by the state. The Nazis were thus to the left, economically, compared to many of the labor parties in Western Europe today. As Adolf Hitler stated in 1927: “We are Socialists, enemies, mortal enemies of the present capitalist economic system with its exploitation of the economically weak, with its injustice in wages, with its immoral evaluation of individuals according to wealth and money instead of responsibility and achievement, and we are determined under all circumstances to abolish this system!”

The MuftiThe Muslim Brotherhood were also fans of the European Fascist and Nazi movements in the 1930s, as they are of welfare state Socialism now. In Origins of Fascism, historian Walter Laqueur notes similarities between Islam and Nazism: “A German Catholic émigré writer Edgar Alexander (Edgar Alexander Emmerich) published an interesting work in 1937 in Switzerland entitled The Hitler Mythos (which was translated into English and reprinted after World War Two) in which he compared National Socialism with ‘Mohammedanism’ (…) He referred frequently to Hitler’s ‘Mohammedanism’ but made it clear that this referred only to external organizational forms (whatever this meant), to mass psychological effects and militant fanaticism. Alexander believed that Mohammed’s religion was based on sincere religious fanaticism (combined with political impulses) whereas Hitler’s (political) religion and its fanaticism had different sources.”

In Laqueur’s view, Fascism was less monolithic than Communism, as there were significant differences in theory and practice from country to country. The French Marxist Orientalist Maxime Rodinson wrote a polemic against the influential philosopher and fellow left-winger Michel Foucault who welcomed the Islamic Revolution in Iran. According to Rodinson, Khomeini and Islamic groups such as the Muslim Brotherhood constituted a form of “archaic fascism.” Ibn Warraq has used an outline of the Fascist ideology made by Italian novelist Umberto Eco and found that most of its defining hallmarks are shared by Islam.

Theodor AdornoGerman sociologist Theodor Adorno was a member of the Frankfurt School and was influenced by Georg Lukács, one of Gramsci’s fellow cultural Marxists. The Authoritarian Personality, a book carrying Adorno’s name but in reality produced by the combined efforts of a number of people from the Frankfurt School, was extremely influential in the United States in the generation following WW2 and contributed to the Allied denazification program in Germany. Working at the University of Berkeley, California, during and after the war, Adorno and others such as the German-Jewish thinker Max Horkheimer through a large number of interviews tried to establish that what led to the rise of Nazi Germany was the predominance of a particular kind of authoritarian personality, which happened to be closely tied to conservative viewpoints. In their view, this was not just the case in Nazi Germany; there were large numbers of potential Fascists all over the Western world.

The authors developed the so-called F-scale (F for “Fascist”) to measure the psychological indicators of an authoritarian personality. They identified several key dimensions of a protofascist personality, which included favoring traditional morality, close family ties and strong support of religion. It also included aggression, stereotypes, a preoccupation with oppression, dominance and destruction and an obsession with sex. The solution to root out this authoritarian personality was above all to be found in the breakdown and transformation of the traditional family structure..

It is striking to notice that these writers were inspired by a Marxist worldview and consistently refused to see the heavy Socialist influences on the Nazi ideology. Adorno and others argued that “late capitalism” had developed tools to resist the rise of a Socialist society, above all the use of popular culture and education. They apparently concluded that what led to the rise of the Nazis were traditional and “conservative” viewpoints.

But the Nazis weren’t conservatives. They should more properly be understood as a revolutionary Socialist movement, albeit one with powerful racialist and anti-Semitic overtones. Judging from the death toll produced by Socialist regimes both prior to and after them, it is tempting to conclude that the destruction brought by the Nazis owed at least as much to the Socialist as to the nationalist element of their ideology. The Origins of Totalitarianism by Hannah Arendt, published in 1951, a year after The Authoritarian Personality, was somewhat closer to understanding the commonalities between the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany.

However, since the Nazis have by now been dubbed a “far-right” movement, anybody considered to be a “right-winger” or conservative is thus supposedly closer to them than Socialists are, which automatically makes them suspect. Much of the power of the political Left throughout the West is based on such guilt-by-association, which is why it would be a disaster for their power base if it were to be demonstrated that the Swedish Social Democrats, the darlings of the political Left internationally, were close to the Fascists and the Nazis. They now display great affection for Islam, another thing they have in common with the Nazis.

Many of the stories in the famous The Book of One Thousand and One Nights (Arabian Nights), though frequently based on much older Persian and Indian tales, are said to have taken place during the rule of the Abbasid caliph Harun al-Rashid in Baghdad in the late 8th and early 9th century. Few seem to remember that the first prototype of the yellow badge for Jews employed by the Nazis were developed by him, based on the regulations for dhimmis in Islamic teachings. He ordered Jews to wear yellow belts, Christians blue belts. This practice was later imported to Europe via medieval Spain and Portugal under Islamic rule.

Muhammad Amin al-Husayni, the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, Arab nationalist leader, a leading force behind the establishment of the Arab League and a spiritual father of the PLO, was a close collaborator with Nazi Germany and personally met with Adolf Hitler. In a radio broadcast from Berlin he called upon Muslims to kill Jews wherever they could find them. Dieter Wisliceny was the deputy of Adolf Eichmann, the organizer of the Holocaust and reportedly the inventor of the phrase the “Final Solution to the Jewish Question.” During the Nuremberg trials, Wisliceny stated that the Mufti “was one of Eichmann’s best friends and had constantly incited him to accelerate the extermination measures. I heard him say, accompanied by Eichmann, he had visited incognito the gas chambers of Auschwitz.”

The Mufti of Jerusalem with HimmlerSerge Trifkovic in his book The Sword of the Prophet documents how al-Husayni recruited Bosnian and Albanian Muslims for Waffen SS units in the Balkans. Yugoslavia wanted to extradite al-Husayni for war crimes after WW2, but he fled to Egypt and continued his war against Jews. Orthodox Christian Serbs had to wear blue armbands, Jews yellow armbands. This clearly demonstrates that for Muslims this was a Jihad against disobedient dhimmis, and thus a continuation of the Turkish and Kurdish genocide against Armenians a few years earlier which was one of the inspirations for the Holocaust. More than a quarter of a million Serbs, Jews and Romani people (Gypsies) were killed by these Muslims troops. The leader of the Nazi SS troops Heinrich Himmler was impressed and stated to Propaganda Minister Josef Goebbels that Islam was “a very practical and attractive religion for soldiers.”

He was far from the only person seeing a close correlation between Nazism and Islam. Karl Jung, in The Symbolic Life from 1939, stated that: “We do not know whether Hitler is going to found a new Islam. (He is already on the way; he is like Mohammad. The emotion in Germany is Islamic; warlike and Islamic. They are all drunk with wild god). That can be the historic future.” In The Second World War, Vol. I (The Gathering Storm), Winston Churchill wrote about Adolf Hitler’s autobiography Mein Kampf: “Here was the new Koran of faith and war: turgid, verbose, shapeless, but pregnant with its message.”

Medieval anti-Jewish pogroms in Europe could be brutal, but still normally of limited scope. To commit evil on a truly monumental scale, you need the support of ideology backed by bureaucrats, jurists and the machinery of a totalitarian state. Since Socialism generally leads in a totalitarian direction, which has also been facilitated by technological and industrial advances, a Socialist society will make large-scale massacres more likely..

The Hungarian author Imre Kertész, Holocaust survivor and winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature, writes in the magazine signandsight.com that “the genuine novelties of the twentieth century were the totalitarian state and Auschwitz. The anti-Semitism of the nineteenth century, for instance, was as yet barely able, nor even would have wished, to imagine a Final Solution. Auschwitz, therefore, cannot be accounted for by the common-or-garden, archaic, not to say classical concepts of anti-Semitism. (…) Eichmann testified during his trial in Jerusalem that he was never an anti-Semite, and although those who were in the courtroom burst into laughter, it is not inconceivable that he was being truthful. In order to murder millions of Jews the totalitarian state had need, in the final analysis, not so much of anti-Semites as good organisers. We need to see clearly that no totalitarianism of party or state can exist without discrimination, and the totalitarian form of discrimination is necessarily mass murder.”

Kertész also warns, timely in these Multicultural days, that “a civilisation that does not clearly proclaim its values, or which leaves these proclaimed values high and dry, is stepping on the path to perdition and terminal debility. Then others will pronounce their values, and in the mouths of these others they will no longer be values but just so many pretexts for untrammelled power, untrammelled destruction.”

Following the Cold War, the West was stuck with a large fifth column in our media and academia of people who were disappointed after the sudden collapse of the alternative to capitalism. They are slaves emancipated against their will, desperately in search of a new master. Their hatred for the Established Order never subsided when Marxism suffered a blow to its credibility. On the contrary, on some levels it increased. Although their attacks on the Christian, capitalist West are less ideologically coherent than in the past, this does not make them any less passionate.

They have decided to pursue the course of a gradual transformation of society through the education system and through destroying the family structure. The radicals have renewed hope of a violent upheaval. With the mass importation of Muslims, who have displayed such a wonderful talent for violence, and with rising ethnic tensions within the West, maybe they can finally get the armed revolution they were longing for.

The Swedish Social Democrats were pro-Fascist and pro-Nazi during the 1930s and 40s, appeased the Communists during the Cold War and cooperate with repressive and violent Islamic organizations today. They have consistently supported or appeased some of the worst societies and ideologies in human history, which between themselves have killed more than 150 million people in a few generations. Yet they are the good guys, the poster boys of the political Left throughout the world.

Now they forge an alliance with the Muslim Brotherhood, another organization with close ideological ties to the Fascist and Nazi movements. At a time when native Swedes are raped, stabbed, killed and chased out of their homes by Muslim gangs, the Social Democrats agree to continue allowing Muslims to colonize the country in exchange for their votes. In the old days this would be called treason. Now it’s called tolerance. It’s remarkable how similar the two concepts have become. Two Fascist-inspired movements cooperate on exploiting and abusing the native population of a country, force them fund and applaud their own colonization and denounce them as bigots, racists and Fascists if they resist. The strategy is as brilliant as it is evil.

Why do they get away with this? How come Socialists can stab their own people in the back, ally themselves openly with some of the most violent and repressive movements on earth and still manage to portray themselves as beacons of goodness? I am tempted to agree with former Soviet dissident Vladimir Bukovsky: The West didn’t win the Cold War, at least not as decisively as we should have done. The belief-system we were up against has been allowed to mutate and regain some of its former strength. We haven’t defeated Socialism until we stage a Nuremberg trial and demonstrate clearly that the suffering, repression and massacres caused by Socialist regimes from Vietnam via the Ukraine to the Baltic were a direct result of Socialist doctrines.
