Bloody Borders in India

As mentioned in the Bloody Borders Project, and further discussed in the comments of a subsequent post, India has been one of the primary and ongoing battlefronts in the Great Jihad since the beginning of Islam.

As Alain Danielou wrote in his book Histoire de l’Inde (thanks to Atanu Dey for the quote):

“From the time Muslims started arriving, around 632 AD, the history of India becomes a long, monotonous series of murders, massacres, spoliations, and destructions. It is, as usual, in the name of ‘a holy war’ of their faith, of their sole God, that the barbarians have destroyed civilizations, wiped out entire races.” Mahmoud Ghazni, continues Danielou, “was an early example of Muslim ruthlessness, burning in 1018 of the temples of Mathura, razing Kanauj to the ground and destroying the famous temple of Somnath, sacred to all Hindus. His successors were as ruthless as Ghazni: 103 temples in the holy city of Benaras were razed to the ground, its marvelous temples destroyed, its magnificent palaces wrecked.” Indeed, the Muslim policy vis a vis India, concludes Danielou, seems to have been a conscious systematic destruction of everything that was beautiful, holy, refined.

Bloody Borders in the Old World

In recent years Pakistan, either directly or through its terrorist surrogates, has fomented Islamist violence in the neighboring Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. The Bloody Borders maps show that the vast bulk of Islamic terrorism in India occurs in Kashmir. There has been a de facto ethnic cleansing of Hindus in whole districts of the state.

But no part of India is immune to Islamofascist violence. Today we have a report from the New Kerala:

At least 12 people are feared to have died and about 25 injured when a series of powerful bomb explosions rocked Varanasi on Tuesday evening.

According to informed sources, the bomb blasts occurred between 5.30 and 6.30 p.m. (IST) in the famous Sankat Mochan Temple complex, near the Benaras Hindu University and Varanasi cantonment railway station here, killing at least seven on the spot and injuring several other devotees.

At the time of explosion, the Shivganga Express was on the platform to leave for Delhi.

The injured have been admitted to the SS Hospital in the Benaras Hindu University campus.

Soon after the blast, panic gripped the city as people here were seen talking on phones to know about their relatives and friends.

The reports in the Western press have refrained so far from using the dreaded I-word when describing the attack, but the New Kerala is not so shy:

Giving a political colour to the incident, former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and senior BJP leader Kalyan Singh demanded the dismissal of the Mulayam Singh-led government.

He further went on to say that Islamist fundamentalist were responsible for the blasts and appealed the people to come forward to help the victims.

Varanasi is in Uttar Pradesh, in northeast India, halfway across the country from Kashmir. It is also separated from Muslim Bangladesh by the state of Bihar, yet Islamic violence managed to find its way to the city.

And note the modern instance of the time-honored Muslim practice: the target was a Hindu temple.

Back in the 14th century, the Mongol conqueror Tamerlane said:

My principal object in coming to Hindustan… has been to accomplish two things. The first was to war with the infidels, the enemies of the Mohammadan religion; and by this religious warfare to acquire some claim to reward in the life to come. The other was… that the army of Islam might gain something by plundering the wealth and valuables of the infidels: plunder in war is as lawful as their mothers’ milk to Musalmans who war for their faith.

Since its inception Islam has enriched its adherents by plundering the infidel. The relative wealth enjoyed by some Islamic countries today comes from petroleum, and is not dependent on any inherent industry or productivity among the faithful.

When the last stronghold of the infidels has been overrun, and the dream of the worldwide Caliphate has been realized, from whom will Islam gain its wealth? Sitting in the ruins of the civilized world, living their Utopian dream under the Shari’ah, what can be plundered to keep the emirs in the style to which they have become accustomed? Whose fat will they batten on then?

  1. I think it is a little early to say that it was islamic terrorists. While they seem most likely to be responsible, and while Islamic terrorism is a very real threat in india, it is not fair to jump to conclusions without carrying out a fair investigation.

  2. Varun, as I said in response to a similar comment the last time I posted about an attack in India, I’m willing to put my money where my mouth is: I’ll bet US$50, payable to the charity of the winner’s choice, that this attack will eventually be determined to be the work of Islamic “militants”.

    Any takers?

  3. The Times of India says the temple atrocity is likely the work of Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba.

This is very serious stuff even if we in the west aren’t familiar with it. While I’m not up on Hindu
hagiagraphy this has to be at least as serious as the 2002 Ayodhya incidents in Gujarat. Those
    riots left over 1000 dead.

One wonders if in some not so distant future American and Indian
armies will meet somewhere in the
heart of Islamania just as American
and Soviet Armies did in the ruins
    of the Third Reich.

  4. Islam isn’t interested in converting everyone to Islam. Throughout history they have accumulated wealth both from the labors of dhimmi’s(I’m including the jizya) and from plundering non-Islamic lands. And as far as wagering on who was responsible I want some of that action with varun. Islamic militants are already claiming responsibility.
Of course if this was in France, they would just be called ‘youths’.

  5. Schwartz: a contary view is that the arrival of the British in India saved the Muslims from becoming yet another caste in the South Asian social system. Not my point of view, but one I’ve heard some interesting arguments for. (I think it’s a bit silly personally, but like I said, there’s some interesting stuff there). Actually, in somewhat interesting fashion, Muslims and Christians in India often DO still follow caste, but anyway, that’s neither here nor there.

Also, I agree that this does sound most likely to have been carried about by Muslim terrorists, but there are plenty of other groups that have carried out bombings in India in the past (Sikhs have really been a bigger problem than Muslims since 47, imo). This doesn’t sound like sikh m.o. to me… Passenger cars, the temple, ganga river site–I think it’s gotta be Muslim.

I believe I visited the attacked temple when I was in Varanasi, and if it’s the one I’m thinking of, it was quite nice.

  6. Abu Hamza, the imprisoned mouthpiece of a North London mosque, who influenced Robert Reed the shoebomber, amongst others, and constantly crowed about killing the unbelievers, was seen on uk TV, after the Space Shuttle broke up re-entry.
As he stood in a London Street, he bragged to cameras, that it was an “Act of Allah” that the missionhad been destroyed, because of the defeat of the Taliban, “the bombing of innocents in Afghanistan” and the fact that there were a Jew,and a Hindu amongst the astronaughts.
The one eyed “Hook” who got his injuries as a mudjahdeen supporter, described the Jew as a “pig” and the Hindu as a “monkey”.
The bombing in India was at the sacred site dedicated to the “Monkey-Divinity”
I think that just about says it all.
Islamic terrorism is always keen to make a point to both it’s enemies and it’s followers.
If I had a hundred dollars to bet, I would put it 100 to 1 on Moslem “fanatics”
It looks like that meeting of US and Indian troops in the ruins of the Islamic Reich could be more than speculation.
What will it take to convince the world that Islam is the religion of “No Peace.”
Didn’t the military experiment with lsd as a mindwarfare drug, many decades ago. Didn’t the Hippies dream of putting lsd in the water reservoirs in America.
If this could be done now in islamic countries, do you think that the people would explode into a sexual orgy of orgasmic lust as their bodies pulsed with waves of bliss.
(does anyone out there remember that? mmmn?)
Would the women throw off their veils and offer their painted bodies to the liberating Western troops.
Would the men finally forget their women and make love to their camels with unbridled passion?
Would the favorite tunes of arabia now feature JImi Hendrix (bless him)and The Grateful Dead?
Would the Mahdi return as the glowing effigy of Dr. Timothy Leary?
Ahh, the thought of it. “Woodstock the movie” could be re-run throughout the Caliphate. Peace would break out as the Hamas rush towards the Israely border guards to push flowers into their rifles.
I apologise to all old Hippies and Timothy Leary.
Ya gotta laugh aintcha? Or cry.

  7. For a well written and terrifying glimpse into the future world under Islam, please read the following, first two chapters of an on-line book written by Jane Scully.

…”The Hatred of the Angels,” Jane Ahlam Scully’s first novel, uses materials collected from her studies and life experiences. She began writing it the day Dutch film-maker, Theo Van Gogh, was murdered and completed it on 7 July 2005, the day London experienced its first Islamic terrorist attacks.

“The Hatred of the Angels” portrays a future Europe, one which has become the picture of a society that is fully consistent with Islam. She shows us just what that means. Speaking about the Europe of today in contrast to the Europe of the future that she presents, Jane Ahlam Scully said: “The future I am writing about is approaching us faster than I ever thought possible.”

Ms Scully was born in 1966, the youngest of three daughters, to immigrant parents in New York City. Her Muslim father came from the Middle East, where he had worked as a merchant banker, while her mother came from Roman Catholic Poland. To avoid legal entanglements from his illicit activities with other Muslims, her father moved the family to England; there, he could continue his jihadist activities undisturbed by the authorities….”

She will continue to post the remaining chapters at This Website:

  8. Baron, Varanasi may miles away from Kashmir, but it is located in a state with 35% of India’s Muslim population which is about 45 million muzzies. Kashmr by contrast is home to about 6 million Muslims.

Moreover Hinduism’s all holiest cities Allahabad (actually it was called Prayag but Mughals changed it), Mathura, Ayodhya and Varanasi (a.k.a Benaras) have more mosques than temples.

  9. (Sikhs have really been a bigger problem than Muslims since 47, imo).

Well Sikh insurgency lasted from 1978 to abt 1989 or so… now the movement for Khalistan is practically dead within India with the reconciliation measures undertaken. The movement iteself has more support amongst the British and Canadisn Sikhs than Indian Sikhs.

  10. Robert,

To conquer India the British had to defeat the Marathas(Hindus) and Sikhs

Here is a Map of the Maratha empire in 1760

Here is a brief history of the last Mughal emperor Aurangzeb – died in 1707. (Compare this with the dates of the Anglo-Maratha and Anglo-sikh wars in the links above)

    bld,
funny you mention this – take a look at this article
    GI Joe meets Mowgli

Unfortunately the link on that page goes to a magazine which requires free registration.

Here is a copy of that article

  11. The first commentator, Varun, typifies the hated group called “pseudo-seculars” in India. These are people who have internalized dhimmitude to such an extent that they are the first to defend Islamists, even before Muslims.

A bomb goes off in a temple; Hindus are killed. Over the centuries the followers of Islam have slaugthered Hindus by the millions and destroyed temples by the thousands. Next, to a first approximation, all thousands of acts of terrorism all around the world are commited by Muslims. Next, in India, practically all the acts of terrorism have been Islamic. And YET, Varun, the dhimmi, immediately says, “Yeah but how can you possibly say that this could have been Islamic terrorism?”

Listen, idiot, it is possible that Jains did it; it is even possible that Little Green Men from Mars did it. But confusing the possible with the probable is idiotic.

Ah the dhimmis are the best hope that Islam has that it will rule over the smolder ruins of human civilization.

  12. Vikrant —

Thanks for the information about Muslim population in Uttar Pradesh.

I have a database of Muslim population information, but it breaks down only by country. If you can leave URLs for a resource with the breakdown of Muslim population within India, I might be able to do a post on the topic sometime.

  13. Here’s a PDF document that shows the percentage of muslims in each Indian state.

BTW, Muslims are 19% not 35% of the population of Uttar Pradesh, the state Varanasi is located.

  14. Ever wonder why, aside from the Uighurs, China has never had a major problem with Islam?

Might have something to do with the same spirit that sent a tank to Tienanmen Square.

Say what you want, the Chinese state is unlikely to pussyfoot when it comes to people bloodying the borders.

I have a modest proposal on what to do about Islam over at the Cato blog. Hover your mouse over the pics for value-added commentary!

  15. Baron,

If I had a nickel for every person killed by Islamic terrorism over the centuries, I would be filthy rich. So, no, I will not take your bet because it is a sucker bet.

We all know that nearly all terrorists are Muslims. But I nearly fell off the chair when I read that admission in an Arabic news website: ALMOST ALL TERRORISTS ARE MUSLIMS.
