Warning: Google Is Watching

Want to see something interesting? Visit The Study of Revenge. The first time you click on to the site you’ll get a warning page from Google that the site is “questionable.”

You can decide for yourself whether or not it’s a dangerous place. Perhaps, if your name is Mohammed, you may find his art work offensive.

I can’t remember the exact wording. Had I known you only get it the FIRST time, I’d have done a screen capture for your edification.

The censors are coming…

Never mind….they’re already here.

  1. What a bunch of BS, below is the exact wording as it apeared as I accesed the site….

    CONTENT WARNING
Some readers of this blog have contacted Google because they believe this blog’s content is hateful. In general, Google does not review nor do we endorse the content of this or any blog. For more information about this message, please consult our FAQ.

I do not wish to continueI understand and wish to continue

  2. I also didn’t do the screen capture– I suppose I could clear my cookies and try again, but I’m too lazy and I’m not sure how my wife would react to me “clearing my cookies.”

I was initially quite a bit more upset by this until, like Baltic, I read through the FAQ and realized that the response was probably an automated one, perpetrated by those who would game blogger’s anti-spam/questionable site ‘flagging’.

I suppose this is better than Islamists burning down an embassy, but it would behoove google to come up with safeguards against partisans playing games with sites they don’t agree with.

Or are you just upset that it didn’t happen to you first, D?

  3. Just caught a screenshot of it.

    Screenie

Most large and largely automated internet companies have a similar sort of problem. People can game the system, reporting “abuse” where there is none. I know of a large writers website that will remove stories and comments simply because an abuse has reported; they never check. It’s probably the same here.

  4. Right, bought my tickets. I’m going to go and sit in London and wait for Google to become a country and open an embassy so I can burn it down. Who wants to come with me?

Ok, my wife tells me that burning isn’t an option. Perhaps we could teepee their UK headquarters instead…

  5. A4g–

Yeah, I know it’s automated, but its’ still creepy. Maybe we could do a crash bang on Daily Kos and Google would flag that site, too?

Betcha it wouldn’t work in that case.

My deep Islamophobia has made me paranoid, A4…and you’re damned right I’m envious. He’s being taken seriously by the nut jobs while all my “Scream” posts and ridicule and obscenely bizarre pictures of Sharia bathing suits — all my hard work — doesn’t even get a peep out of Google.

    No fair, CAIR.
