Notable Absences

A group calling itself “The Secret Organization of al-Qaida in Europe” has claimed credit for today’s bombings in London:

In the new statement, the group said “the heroic mujahedeen carried out a blessed attack in London, and now Britain is burning with fear and terror, from north to south, east to west.”
“We warned the British government and the British people repeatedly. We have carried out our promise and carried out a military attack in Britain after great efforts by the heroic mujahedeen over a long period to ensure its success.”
“We continue to warn the governments of Denmark and Italy and all crusader governments that they will receive the same punishment if they do not withdraw their troops from Iraq and Afghanistan,” the statement went on.
It was signed “The Secret Organization of al-Qaida in Europe.”

Conspicuously missing from the list of future targets are Australia and the United States. One assumes that these countries would be even more desirable victims of al Qaeda than Denmark and Italy. Why, then, were they left off?

Possible reasons:

1.   The terrorists’ operational structure in the two Anglosphere countries is so compromised and degraded that they simply cannot mount serious attacks there.
2.   Denmark and Italy get to go first, so they are mentioned specifically.
3.   The jihadis simply forgot and left them out of the list.

Your guess is as good as mine.

  1. This announcement may be by some group other than the actual assassins. Never forget that we are dealing with an enemy capable of some subtlety when it comes to murdering those who cannot strike back. Analysis of the document is useful to some degree, but not a great deal I suspect.

Denmark has made some solid steps to curbing unlimited immigration from the Dar al Islam. As a result, the Moslem population of Malmo has increased rapidly of late. See the Fjordman.blogspot.com for some details .

Italy is the home of the Roman church and thus a logical target for the Jihad.

One possibility for leaving off Australia and the Great Satan from this announcement is even simpler than that of the Baron: Jihad operations in those countries are ongoing, and there is no need to further alert anti-Jihad forces with threats.

  2. graf von salam:

The Baron’s link omitted an important part of the text of the terrorist message, at least as far as it exposes the kind of thinking we dealing with. Here’s part of what was said:

We continue to warn the governments of Denmark and Italy and all the Crusader governments that they will be punished in the same way if they do not withdraw their troops from Iraq and Afghanistan. He who warns is excused.

And then they have this direct quote from the Koran:

God says: “You who believe: If ye will aid (the cause of) Allah, He will aid you, and plant your feet firmly.”

Analysis of the document is useful to the extent that it ought to put paid to any drivel about ‘tolerance’ for terrorists. Notice the London news was not using “insurgents” to name this group.

Analysis is also useful in pointing out the inherent violence in Islam. As Fjordman says, mixing Western culture and Muslim culture is like trying to integrate fire and water. I say let’s hose off the centuries of accumulated fiery violence and be done with it.

  3. I think Al Qaeda is barely meaningful front group for the real enemy of Islamism. That said I think this it is the European branch of Al Qaeda focusing that produced the hit list of European countries. After Spain and Britain, Italy and Denmark are the two European countries (with Poland – don’t know why they left that one out) part of the Iraq coalition that has not yet been hit by terrorism.

Denmark seems to have been saved by being so small and inconsequential that the Islamists didn’t know where or what it was. Last time they mistook us for Norway and issued a stern warning to Norway for having troops in Iraq. Now they seem to have spotted us though. There was just a bomb warning in Copenhagen’s subway. I guess it’s only a matter of time now. No matter. Denmark is not going anywhere out of Iraq for at least 3-4 years. Osama can go hump a camel.

  4. Always is right: Denmark and Italy are non-retaliators.

Why not threaten them ? If these countries can be made to fold on their minimal war on terror commitments with threats and bombs elsewhere, it’s a freebie.

Note that business about the “cheerful one and undaunted fighter.” Plenty of honorifics are assigned as sideboys to Mohammad, particularly when barbarous murderers are invoking his name, but the choice of those particular terms is interesting. Are there some jihadist somebodies someplace acting cheerless and daunted ?

Yeah, we can dissect the announcement all we want, but its best use is toilet paper. Only thing we need to learn about these people is how to kill them in big bleeding batches.

  5. No, no. It’s “been there, done that”, if you count Bali as an anti-Oz strike. They’re just trying to lengthen the list. I guess Poland and Japan will probably show up at some point, for example.

  6. Jefe — I don’t know; both Rune and Fjordman seem to disagree with you about Denmark. We’ll see — the Danish mettle hasn’t been tested yet.

If only all the Europeans were like Fjordman. He says: “Muslims living among us must be brought to accountability. They must either leave Islam or forced to leave non-Muslim countries. Islam is terrorism. It must be banned.”

If the Norwegian authorities find out his identity, they’re bound to jail him for hate crimes.
