A Jihad Video from the Alps

Bad Gastein is a resort spa in the Austrian Alps. Jihad recently came to town when an unknown person uploaded a video recorded in Bad Gastein calling for a terrorist attack on Austria.

Uproar About Alleged Jihadist Video

An alleged jihadist video which shows Bad Gastein (Pongau) is causing agitation. A hitherto unknown war-monger is calling for an attack “on this heretical land.” Security services assure us that the video is harmless.

The quality of the video is poor, shaky and amateurish. Who authored this clip? How seriously should it be taken? On Friday afternoon, ORF Salzburg played the video for a businessman in a northern Israeli city, whose mother tongue is Arabic. He regards it as terrorist — also because of the graphics and the logo.

Is That the Sound of the Gastein Waterfall in the Background?

The gist of the spoken text is that warriors loyal to the caliph are also in the Alps and waiting for the order to attack this heretical land (Austria?). When the camera pans to the Bad Gastein parish church, the narration says that the cross on the church will soon be torn out and all heretics punished. The rushing of water in the background can be heard clearly, just as it can in the proximity of the Gastein waterfall. Experts do not believe that the spoken text has been added retroactively.

An Arab who lives in Vienna translates: “We await the words of our leader in the hope that he will come to this place and raise the banner of chastisement.”

Update on the Love Jihad

Here’s some more on the Love Jihad in India. A Hindu association came up with the brilliant idea of stopping the Love Jihad by banning teenage girls from using mobile phones.

Yep, that’ll do it, all right!

Agra: Banning Hindu Women From Using Mobile Phones to Counter the ‘Love Jihad’

A committee of Vaishyas (mostly traders by caste) has made the proposal to counter alleged forced conversions by Muslims of women of other religions. For some analysts, this is the result of social polarisation in Uttar Pradesh, led by Hindu nationalists ahead of upcoming by-elections.

Agra (AsiaNews/Agencies) — The Akhil Bharitiya Vaishya Ekta Parishad (ABVEP), a committee of vaishyas (mostly traders by caste), wants to ban teenage girls and young women — especially Hindus — from using mobile phones, to save them from the danger of the love jihad.

The term love jihad refers alleged forced conversions by Muslims of Hindu and Christian women through offers of marriage in exchange of compulsory conversion to Islam.

“Such things (mobiles, internet) lead young minds to fall in the ‘love jihad’ trap,” said ABEVP national president Sumant Gupta. “We are saddened and alarmed by the rising numbers of such cases in the state, especially when Vaishya girls are involved. We have no option but to take precautions.”

In order to promote its cause, the association will send out groups of young people and women across the state to explain to teenagers the “dangers” they run.

“We will convince them politely, with love. There will be no pressure or force,” Gupta said.

The group’s statements have sparked different local reactions. For Zishan Ahmed, a post-graduate student at Baba Saheb Bheemrao Ambedkar University, reacted with dismay. “These diktats are bewildering and humiliating for youngsters of both communities,” he said.

Another Show Trial?

Geert Wilders may be facing another show trial for “group defamation, discrimination and incitement to hatred”. Mr. Wilders, the leader of the Dutch Islam-critical party PVV, caused controversy by agreeing with what most Dutch people think (if you believe the opinion polls) about the excessive number of Moroccans now in their country.

The following article was published today on the front page of the Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf. A translation has been made available by the PVV.

The court in The Hague is busy preparing the criminal trial against Geert Wilders, although the judicial authorities have not yet decided to prosecute him. The court administration wants to prevent chaos, as happened four years ago in Amsterdam.

It is generally expected that the judicial authorities will decide later this month whether the PVV leader will be prosecuted for his statement about “fewer Moroccans” during an election meeting in a pub in The Hague. Fjordman: Is Jihad Un-Islamic?

In Denmark in 2005, Tina Magaard — a Sorbonne-trained linguist specializing in textual analysis — published detailed research findings comparing the foundational texts of ten major religions. Magaard concluded from her data-driven analyses that

“The texts in Islam distinguish themselves from the texts of other religions by encouraging violence and aggression against people with other religious beliefs to a larger degree. There are also straightforward calls for terror. This has long been a taboo in the research into Islam, but it is a fact that we need to deal with.”

Magaard further observed that “There are 36 references in the Koran to expressions derived from the root qa-ta-la, which indicates fighting, killing or being killed. The expressions derived from the root ja-ha-da, which the word Jihad stems from, are more ambiguous since they mean ‘to struggle’ or ‘to make an effort’ rather than killing. Yet almost all of the references derived from this root are found in stories that leave no room for doubt regarding the violent nature of this struggle. Only a single ja-ha-da reference (29:6) explicitly presents the struggle as an inner, spiritual phenomenon, not as an outwardly (usually military) phenomenon. But this sole reference does not carry much weight against the more than 50 references to actual armed struggle in the Koran, and even more in the Hadith.”

Betrayed by a Muslim in Marriage

Last Thursday we posted a report by Yog about the “Love Jihad” — the Muslim practicing of abducting Hindu girls and forcibly marrying them — in India. As part of his report, Yog linked a Hindi-language video of an interview with a young Hindu woman who had married a Muslim.

Vlad Tepes had the video translated. Many thanks to Yog for the timing, and to Vlad for the subtitling:

As you can see, this video is not an adequate example of what Yog described in his post. The young woman describes a situation that was entirely her choice.

The little girls in Rotherham who were raped and brutalized would have been thrilled to have so many choices.

The Yezidi women who were recently abducted by ISIS and sold to their “husbands” in Syria were never fortunate enough to be able to make the same decisions this Hindu woman did.

Yes, we can sympathize with her, because she made bad choices and suffered as a result. But I’d like to see video interviews with Hindu women who were truly coerced into conversion and marriage. I’m certain there is no shortage of examples.

In perfect harmony. Didn’t we get that thrust down our throats?

But it does raise some questions, such as: Who is the ‘I’ there? In answer to my own question, we now have a major religion, a powerful religion, that worships the god of ‘equality’ and ‘harmony’ (but of course the believers are more equal than non-believers, and those believers are the ‘I’ because they define the harmony), but those who create disharmony are the enemy, because creating disharmony is the ultimate in crime and terrorism.

At best ‘equality’ is an assumption based on moral relativity. It means that one must shut one’s eyes to history and limit discernment to the here and the now. Yesterday Hamas fired missiles at Israeli children; today Israel killed Gazan children in retaliation. It’s simple, stupid: those Joooos create disharmony so they are in the wrong; Muslims are the long term victims of Judeo-Christian exploitation (enforced inequality); therefore we must restore equilibrium by blaming the Joooos wherever we find them etc., etc.

In the science lab in school we had old-fashioned balances in wooden cases for weighing substances and things, and using the balance was quite a skill in itself. After each addition of weights or substance, one had to wait for the swinging to subside. To get to a state of equilibrium could take hours so one learned to average out the swing to save time.

As the weights added got smaller and smaller they became harder to manipulate as well, and the tiny ones had to be manipulated with tweezers and seemed to take on a life of their own and fight back.

It took an incredible amount of work to get a balance, so we rationalized and weighed stuff to the nearest gram, which took a fraction of the time.

Derailed Again

As most readers already know, Gates of Vienna has been experiencing server issues for the past few days. The crisis came to a head yesterday (Sunday), when we were completely derailed and thrown temporarily offline. The hard-working techies have been at it since then.

Naturally, the site went live after I gave up waiting and went to do the shopping — is it ever any other way? But now normal operations can resume.

I’ll combine material from yesterday’s news feed with today’s, and post a single large news feed tonight.

The Baron has spent hours on the phone talking to the techies and fixers, though to no avail. Finally, he went to do the marketing for me since our vegetable situation was critical…

…and y’all know that Schloss Bodissey is at the Edge of Beyond – or rather, smack dab in the Middle, where there be monsters – so it will be a while before he returns.

I have no idea what brought us down, but there was talk of how long it takes to propagate a new something-or-other. It’s whatever all those little numbers are called. And yes, they shouldn’t let me near a computer given the level of my ignorance.

It was leprechauns in the intertubes, that’s what it was. I almost grabbed one – even had the edge of his coat – but all I have to show for my efforts is a bit of tattered green cloth. Do you think they might be lying about their purported pots of gold? Have you noticed President Obama looks a bit like a leprechaun? He’d never make the height limits, though. I can’t picture him crouched under a toadstool, can you?

In the meantime, a placeholder post to let y’all know we’re not dead. Thanks for the concerned emails, too.

Which Islam do Muslims in Austria actually follow?

By 2051, every fifth Austrian will be Muslim. The figure is already 11.6% ( up from 0.4% in 1971). Official Austria has always operated on the premise of religious co-existence. But the newest reports indicate that shockingly great swathes of the Muslim population are regressing to the Middle Ages. Their brutal attitude toward “infidels” (up to and including bestial murders), their imperialism, their repression of women and homosexuals and the dominion of religion over politics all come to them from the Koran.

In recent years, anyone who criticized or even caricatured Islam ran the risk of earning a death fatwa. Self-styled “holy warriors” are killing and dispossessing Christians all over the world. Nonetheless, Western governments have appealed for tolerance. This may come from the misinterpretation of a comment by Jesus: “But I say unto you, That you resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite you on your right cheek, turn to him the other also.” The meaning of the Biblical episode is that Jesus is standing firm and demanding respect. We must do the same, for the sake of our culture and our values. In conversation even with educated Muslims, their contempt for our liberal society is often palpable.

The Role of the Victim as an Excuse

Muslim advocates like to play the victim card. Marginalization of their co-religionists, they say, brings on radicalization. That, however, is only part of the truth. Not a word about the fact that some immigrant groups close themselves off and overburden the educational and welfare systems. Interestingly, it is (liberal) Muslims most of all who denounce the propagation of “fascist Islam” and criticize the support it receives from indigenous parties. It was clear to see, in demonstrations for and against Erdogan in Vienna, that there are thousands of Turks from backward regions in Turkey who are easy to mobilize in our streets. But anyone who has been in Istanbul has also seen the other side of Turkey with its dynamic, well-educated upper class, and many women in top jobs.
