Gates of Vienna News Feed 10/4/2015

The German government has revised its projections of the total number of “refugees” that are expected to arrive in Germany before the end of the year. The prediction is now 1.5 million migrants in 2015, which is 500,000-700,000 higher than earlier estimates.

In other news, record rainfall in South Carolina — up to three inches an hour earlier today — caused massive flooding in Columbia and other low-lying areas, in what is described as a once-in-a-millennium disaster.

A Stirring of Resistance in the Czech Republic?

Western Europeans, especially Germans, have been generally supine in the face of the massive flood of “refugees” that is currently being thrust upon them by their political leaders. They seem to accept — or at least remain passive about — the EU’s insistence that welcoming the migrants is a moral necessity, and a net benefit for the natives.

Besides, it’s a done deal — they’re here, you’re kafir, get used to it!

But Central Europe is another matter entirely. The citizens of the former East Bloc threw off the shackles of Communism a mere quarter of a century ago, and many people can still remember life under the commissars. They’re not necessarily willing to go gentle into that Islamic night.

The video below from the Czech Republic shows the first stirrings of what may be an armed grassroots resistance to the multicultural imperative being imposed by Brussels. Note the speaker who reminds his audience that their leaders have effectively abandoned them, and that they must rely on themselves for self-defense.

Many thanks to Xanthippa for the translation, and to Vlad Tepes for the subtitling:

Note: ‘koruna’, the name of the Czech currency, translates directly as ‘crown’ and, as such, is a potent symbol of independent Czech nation-state primacy. Equating it with being gold-plated, or ‘gilded’, denotes false pretentions and political deceptions… as if placing a gold patina on the coin made it worth its weight in gold, as if retaining the coin lent false pretense to Czech national sovereignty.

BPE Intervention Session 12: “Tear Down These Walls!”

Below is a video of the intervention read by Elisabeth Sabaditsch-Wolff, representing Bürgerbewegung Pax Europa at the OSCE Human Dimension Implementation Meeting, Session 12 “Combating Hate Crimes and Ensuring Effective Protection against Discrimination”, Warsaw, September 29, 2015.

Note: The audio track was taken from the official sound system at OSCE, which was evidently experiencing technical problems. As a result, the quality of the sound is degraded, although Vlad Tepes did what he could with it:

Where Do We Put Them All?

Well, if we’re on the Hamburg city council, when we run out of space for the “refugees” in municipal facilities, we pass a law that allows us to confiscate private property in the city.

Many thanks to Nash Montana for translating this article from Die Welt:

Hamburg’s Capacity for Refugee Housing is Exhausted

The city can’t take in any more refugees at this time; 500 have to sleep under the open sky. The municipality decided to confiscate empty properties.

At this time Hamburg cannot take in any more refugees. For the first time since the beginning of the refugee crisis, they have exhausted their capacity, says Bjorn Domroese, the office manager for the Senator for the Interior, Michael Neumann (SPD), on Wednesday.

500 people couldn’t be accommodated last Tuesday. So they had to spend the night in front of the registration center at Harburger Poststrasse, in the open air. And on Wednesday there still was not enough room for new refugees. “At this point in time we do not see an easing of this situation,” Domroese adds. The Hamburger Abendblatt also reported on this.

Everything possible is being done to create new accommodations. Domroese tells the newspaper, “It could be as early as tomorrow that everything will be better.” Tuesday 600 refugees were registered, but only 100 could be housed at the registration center in containers and tents.

The night before Thursday bore similar concerns for the municipal office of the interior. Employees were asked to bring in sleeping bags and serve hot drinks. At the beginning of the week, there were between 400 and 500 new refugees arriving in the city daily, and at the moment there are about 30,000 registered refugees in Hamburg.

Using Properties Even Against the Will of the Owners?

The Hamburg municipality took the first step towards the confiscation of empty properties and using them for the refugees. In a first session, a majority of the parliament decided on Wednesday for the “Law for the security of refugee accommodations in camps”.

Gates of Vienna News Feed 10/3/2015

An “Asian” Muslim family in the UK has been subjected to abuse and even physical attacks from their neighbors for converting to Christianity, which is considered blasphemous under Islam. To escape the attacks, the family is considering relocating from Bradford to a city with more white people in it.

In other news, two bomb blasts in the Nigerian capital of Abuja killed at least eighteen people and wounded dozens more. It is thought that kinetic activists from Boko Haram may be responsible for the attacks.

House of Bribes: How the United States Led the Way to a Nuclear Iran

Earlier this year the Qatar Awareness Campaign produced an extensive report on the Islamic infiltration of American public life, The Betrayal Papers (Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5, and Part 6). The New Coalition of Concerned Citizens is an outgrowth of that earlier project. Its latest report investigates the corrupt process by which the American nuclear deal with Iran was put together. The authors deserve our gratitude for going public with their important research.

House of Bribes: How the United States led the way to a Nuclear Iran

“I think that the American companies will be welcomed in Iran… This is not a game for junior companies, and I call juniors anything below a billion-dollar market cap. This is a big-money game.”

— An American Portfolio Manager, July 2015

Executive Summary

The Iranian nuclear deal is a full capitulation to Iran’s terrorist mastermind Mullahs, and the latest in a series of betrayals of the American people and allies by the Obama administration. At the highest level of the administration, Barack Obama’s Senior Advisor, the Iranian-born Valerie Jarrett, prioritized rapprochement with the terror state. Throughout the process and negotiations, she had the backing of billionaire investor (and Obama-backer) George Soros, and his multi-headed network of tax-exempt foundations. Their efforts were driven by deep-rooted anti-Semitism and personal greed. Meanwhile, since the mid-1990s, a small but very connected Iranian lobby (funded, in part, by George Soros) has been laying the groundwork for normalizing relations with Tehran. Operating through a variety of non-governmental organizations and political action committees, the lobby courted Democrat and Republican politicians. With the election of (Soros-backed) Obama in 2008, the Iranian lobby had very receptive ears in the White House. International business interests were courted and effectively bribed with access to Iranian markets, until finally the deal was realized, approved, and sealed by a vote of the United Nations Security Council.

Preface

Thus far, the reports and exposés issued by the New Coalition of Concerned Citizens have focused on the threat posed by Islamists to American sovereignty. The Qatar Awareness Campaign brought to light extensive influence network of the State of Qatar and their ruling al-Thani family. The Betrayal Papers explained the Muslim Brotherhood’s domination of the Obama administration’s agenda and policies, foreign and domestic.

This report will detail the sinister influence of the small, yet well-connected and very powerful, Iran lobby. Though the Iran lobby’s highest level contacts are prominent Democrats, their reach spans both major political parties. Like previous exposés, this investigation will mention familiar names, including George Soros, Valerie Jarrett, and the United Nations.

Iran is widely regarded by counterterrorism experts as the heart of Islamic radicalism, and the point of origin for terrorism with a specific geopolitical agenda (i.e., the creation of an Islamic Caliphate, much like the Islamic State, but dominated by Shiites, not Sunnis). With the eager embrace of a legacy-hungry Obama administration, the Iran lobby managed to achieve a deal which makes the United States the de facto most powerful backer of Islamic terrorism in the world.

How did this happen?

Background

Since its 1979 Islamic revolution, Iran has been the epicenter of Islamic terrorism throughout the region and the world. Immediately following Ayatollah Khomeini’s return to Tehran from France and ascension to power, Iran took American hostages at the embassy in Tehran. In 1983, Iranian terror proxy Hezbollah bombed the Marine barracks in Beirut, killing 307, including 241 American servicemen. In 1994, Iran’s proxy Hezbollah bombed a Jewish center in Buenos Aires, killing 85 and wounding more than 300. Sponsors of both Hamas and Hezbollah, a New York court found that Iran materially supported and directed Al Qaeda in the 9/11 attacks.

In the decades since the Islamic Republic came into existence, Tehran has proved eager to embrace terror, partnering with various factions around the world. Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, translated the work of the Muslim Brotherhood’s leading author and theorist, Sayyid Qutb, into Persian, proving that Sunnis (Muslim Brotherhood, Hamas, Al Qaeda, etc.) and Shiites (Iran, Hezbollah) will gladly cooperate in terrorizing the West.

Today, Iran’s presence in Latin America is also strong. In countries such as Venezuela, Mexico, Peru, and Argentina, Iranian-backed Islamic terror cells work hand-in-hand with drug cartels. The tri-border region between Paraguay, Argentina, and Brazil is Hezbollah’s main hub in South America. Terrorists, cartels, and organized crime “move liquor electronic goods, cocaine, refugees, even babies” across the region’s three frontiers. Following the 1992 and 1994 bombings in Buenos Aires, western intelligence tracked Islamic terrorist activity to the tri-border region. Today, although intelligence continues to operate in the area, the criminal activity is so rampant that local authorities rarely interfere.

Partnering with South American cartels and organized crime provides a revenue source for terror, while increasing Iran’s strategic footprint in our southern hemisphere. It also highlights a unique problem related to the non-enforcement of security on America’s southern border.

The Trailblazers: Namazi & Nemazee

The Iran lobby of today appears to have its origins in the work of two individuals. One of those individuals is Baquer Namazi, who heads a central and critical Iranian non-governmental organization (NGO). Namazi’s son, Siamak, co-founded the National Iranian-American Council (NIAC) with Trita Parsi, who was a consultant to Republican Congressman Bob Ney of Ohio.

The other individual is Hassan Namazee, who was a major political fundraiser, especially (but not exclusively) for Democrats. He is now serving a prison sentence after admitting guilt in committing bank fraud.

Baquer Namazi and Hamyaran — Corruption and Influence through NGOs and the United Nations

In 1998, elements within the Iranian government, Iranian NGO community, and international organizations (including the United Nations) formed the NGO Hamyaran. It was conceived as, and operates as, an “umbrella” NGO for all other Iranian state-connected NGOs.

As one source explains:

In addition to monitoring and controlling the Iran’s NGOs, Hamyaran is charged with channeling all contacts and relations of the NGOs with the international organizations and the UN. Under the supervision of the government, Hamyaran is also charged with creating communication channels with the Iranians living in the US.

In a word, Hamyaran is Tehran’s organization to police and propagate the pro-Iranian (and thus pro-Mullah) message within the United States, and more broadly to the West. It does this under the auspices of the United Nations.

Since Hamyaran’s founding in 1998 by Dr. Hossein Malek-Afzali, a high ranking Iranian government official who at one time served in President Ahmadinejad’s cabinet, the NGO has been co-led by Malek Afzali and Baquer Namazi.

  • Like Malek-Afzali, Baquer Namazi is closely tied to the government in Tehran. Baquer was previously the governor of the province of Khuzestan, in addition to holding multiple other high level positions in the government. He has also held positions with the United Nations, including being a Member of the Advisory Panel of U.N. Center for Regional Development, Nagoya.
  • Namazi’s son, Siamak, founded the International Association of Iranian Managers (I-AIM). The organization is dedicated to recruiting high-powered “Iranian elites” in the United States.
  • Siamak’s partner in I-AIM, Ali Mostashari, was a strategic advisor to the Assistant Secretary General and Director of the Regional Bureau for Africa at the United Nations Development Program. He has been accused by reporters of directing U.N. funds into Iran for his own benefit and the benefit of the ruling Mullahs.
  • Siamak Namazi, with Republican consultant Trita Parsi, founded the National Iranian-American Council. It is arguably the primary lobbying arm of Tehran in Washington, D.C.

Like many of the Obama administration’s other scandals, it is clear from the facts above that the United Nations was used to supersede American law and sovereignty. Furthermore, in keeping with the trends of Obama scandals, several tax-exempt NGOs were central to the plan. This points to an inept, if not complicit, I.R.S.

Hassan Nemazee & Iranian- American PAC (IAPAC): Democrat Fundraiser Extraordinaire

If Baquer Namazi, his son Siamak, and their associates cemented the relationship between the Iran lobby and United Nations, Hassan Nemazee[1] was the Iran lobby’s man in the Democrat Party. Before admitting to bank fraud in 2010, Nemazee was a star fundraiser for top Democrats.

  • In 2008, Nemazee served as one of Hillary Clinton’s national fundraising chairmen when she was running against Barack Obama in the Democrat primary.
  • Nemazee was eventually credited by the Obama campaign with helping raise $500,000, following Clinton’s defeat in the primary. He donated an additional $50,000 to Obama’s inauguration committee.
  • Also in 2008, Nemazee donated $9,200 to Biden for President Inc.
  • In 2007, Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) was the featured guest speaker at IAPAC’s annual New York City reception.
  • In 2006, Senator Chuck Schumer asked Nemazee to serve as finance chairman for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee. Nemazee raised $119 million, helping to retake the Senate for Democrats and installing Harry Reid as Senate Majority Leader.
  • In 2004, Nemazee raised $500,000 for Democrat nominee (and current Secretary of State) John Kerry. Kerry, of course, was the lynchpin in securing the Iranian nuclear deal.
  • In 2000, Nemazee donated $50,000 to the Gore-Lieberman Recount Committee.

Hassan Nemazee (right) with Terry McAuliffe

Yet Nemazee’s influence was not limited exclusively to the Democrat Party, and neither is the Iran lobby’s influence in general. He and his partner, Alan Quasha had a history of giving to Republicans, too.

A New Dutch Referendum

Our Dutch correspondent H. Numan provides an overview of the current political situation in the Netherlands for non-Dutch readers. Surprisingly enough, it’s more optimistic than anything we’ve heard from Western Europe in a long, long time.

A new Dutch referendum
by H. Numan

As we experience massive political avalanches on almost a daily basis in Europe, this one slipped our attention: the Dutch will have a real referendum. In April 2016. Very much against the will of the government and the political establishment.

What happened? Parliament passed a referendum bill on 1 July 2015. Neither the government nor the parliament (well, most of them, anyway) liked this bill a lot. So it’s as meager as they could possibly make it. One needs to collect 10,000 signatures in order to apply for a referendum. Once that number has been reached, 300,000 signatures within six weeks are required to get the referendum. On top of that, the referendum is advisory, not legislative. Mind you, a real and consequently legislative referendum is old hat in Switzerland. Where you need a lot fewer signatures and get much more time to collect them. The Swiss also have no problems changing their constitution via referendum. All it requires is more signatures.

The most popular weblog by far in The Netherlands is GeenStijl.nl. The name is difficult to translate; ‘no class’ comes close. It’s somewhat conservative, mostly but definitely not exclusively, targeting a younger predominantly male audience. They tend to kick where it really hurts. Nobody is spared. Very often the PVV is targeted, so much so that you may get the impression it’s just another Wilders-bashing site. But they are also the biggest open and honest blog reporting bad situations in the country, political and otherwise. They lash out at anyone. No holds barred. Nobody is spared. Several cabinet ministers found that out to their regret. Notably Ella Vogelaar, former minister of Integration and Housing, who had to resign after she completely bungled an interview with GeenStijl. She performed so badly in that interview she was forced to resign the same week.

For example, the Dutch police are very hesitant to put photos of criminals online. One has to protect the privacy of muggers, rapists, burglars and other unsanitary folks. And above all, no photos confirming right-wing suspicions, so no photos of Muslims, blacks or anything politically incorrect. GeenStijl has absolutely no qualms about that. A ‘Sandlandistan’ chap spitting in a bus driver’s face, caught on camera? Smile buddy, you’re now online. Politically incorrect? Absolutely! You have a lawyer writing a cease and desist letter to get rid of your mugshot in Dumpert? That goes online too. With some snippy remarks accompanying it.

GeenStijl started the first real referendum, under the name GeenPeil (peilen = to poll). The 10,000 signatures they got in a matter of days, and the remainder for the 300,000 limit they reached comfortably (341,666 signatures) a few days before the deadline. They met the legal requirements, and the government is now required by law to hold the referendum.

The issue at hand is the association treaty between the EU with the Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia (the former USSR republic, not the US state). According to the EU, nothing to worry about. But in reality very much so. If only because in that association treaty real EU military and financial support will be given to those states. The treaty itself can be found online. If you care to read 300 pages of bone-dry civil-servant-speak written by civil servants who want to hide something in a maze of words, that is.

Keep in mind that the government is not obliged to follow up the results of the referendum. The referendum law only allows for advisory, not legislative referendums. That’s another sign of how much the government (dis)likes the opinion of the people they represent. Just like the first Dutch referendum. When the people with neither political support nor a financial budget to speak of, voted a resounding ‘NO!’ against the EU constitution. The government had a massive budget, control over most media and literally tried to scare the people into voting yes. That was also an advisory referendum. The government, after their massive defeat, rejected the results and duly signed the treaty of Lisbon. Which was the very same constitution under a different name. As they will no doubt do this time. Or try to.

A Nightmare, Reborn

Note: This essay was first posted on Oct 1, and was “sticky” for several days. Scroll down for a video from OSCE Warsaw, report on the problems caused by Roma migrants in Sweden, three more interventions from this week’s OSCE conference in Warsaw, an MSM hit piece on PEGIDA, and other more recent posts.

Below is the second part of Max Denken’s analysis of the multiculti nightmare that is currently engulfing Europe. This installment pays special attention to Germany.

A Nightmare, Reborn
Part 2 of 3

by Max Denken

The two countries that have been animating the European Union also power, since the 1950s, Europe’s drowning-by-Muslims, the refugee tsunami included. They are France and Germany.

Their pre-peoplehood enmity was noted already by Julius Caesar. Perhaps they now share a benign view of grafting Islamic hordes onto Europe because they devastated each other directly or by proxy for over 150 years of internecine Christian religious wars begun in the early 16th century. In modern times, they went at it in the Franco-Prussian War of 1870-71, World War I and World II, after which they decided that the only way to bury the hatchet was to integrate in a pan-European entity and draw in the rest of the continent with them.

Unique pathologies have developed over that long history. France is to European history what the writer Spengler called in a 2003 article, “the sacred heart of darkness.” Spengler referred solely to French delusions of mystical grandeur that perhaps started with Cardinal Richelieu’s spymaster, Father Joseph du Tremblay. Fr. Joseph was convinced that France was God’s instrument for the salvation of humanity, hence justifying any and all means for the attainment of her “noble” goals. This led to France playing both sides in Europe’s religious wars; for instance first a mass murder of its own Huguenots, and then financing Protestant Sweden in its war on Catholic Central Europe.

But what is one to make of the French Revolution? Apart from the horrors it inflicted on France, it is the mother of communism and socialism, state terror and the citizen as the state’s servant, hundreds of million dead in a little over 200 years, militant secularism and the fraudulent cult of equality. Then came Napoleon and submerged Europe in a sea of blood under the slogan Liberté, égalité, fraternité.

In our times, France has been the architect of the Muslim invasion of Europe ever since opening its borders, under de Gaulle, to millions of North African Arabs. France has been the instigator of Eurabia, metamorphosed of late as the hopefully-named Mediterranean Co-prosperity Sphere. France is where pogroms of Jews and cartoonists are the norm, Marseille might as well be in Morocco, 1,000 infidels’ cars are torched each year as a Muslim celebration of the Winter Holiday, and productive citizens pay a 75% marginal income tax rate while half of France’s at-least 7 million Muslims live on public welfare. France sued Brigitte Bardot five times for “inciting racial hatred,” and is now suing Marine Le Pen for “racism” because she criticizes the vast expanse of upturned Muslim posteriors occupying many a public square and church plaza in her country five times a day. It’s that France that’s now pushing suicide-by-Muslim-refugees on the whole of Europe.

But Germany is the more interesting case.

Deutschland schafft sich ab

When the German politician, financial expert and member of the Executive Board of Germany’s Bundesbank (central bank) Thilo Sarrazin published his book Deutschland schafft sich ab (“Germany abolishes itself”), he became an instant pariah to the ruling elite and a folk hero to the common serfs. Sarrazin lost his job with the Bundesbank, his position in the Social Democratic Party, his social standing, his friends, and probably some family too. Germany’s mass media and politicians crucified him virtually and would have, if they could, done so physically as well.

But why? Even the liberal-left Der Spiegel itself that called Sarrazin “The Man Who Divided Germany” (it’s never the Progressive saboteurs who “divide”) acknowledged that his conclusions about the failed integration of Muslim immigrants are “beyond any doubt,” And that is already at least one level off from the truth, which is that to have expected “integration” from imported products of ancient, hostile barbarism was, and continues to be, the essence of lunacy itself.

Frau Bundeskanzlerin Merkel called Sarrazin’s conclusions “absurd” and assumed the facial rictus of one force-fed live maggots when she as much as heard his name mentioned in TV interviews. And that was before all hell broke loose because Sarrazin speculated that the Jews’ high degree of intelligence is due to a shared gene, i.e. inheritability.

German media erupted in an uproar about the “disgusting realm of race theory,” “shadow of Hitler” and so on. The Central Council of Jews in Germany — -typically for the progressively demented Jewry of our times — condemned Sarrazin in the strongest terms. The funny thing is that Sarrazin based his remark on a paper by an Israeli geneticist, Gil Azmon, “Abraham’s Children in the Genome Era: Major Jewish Diaspora Populations Comprise Distinct Genetic Clusters with Shared Middle Eastern Ancestry.”

One of the few important people who came to Sarrazin’s defense sought to explain this madness by stating that Germany was overshadowed by its Holocaust history. There is something to it and it’s obvious, but the whole is much wider, and it’s buried deep inside.

First, to put it bluntly, it’s the worthiness of the deal: murdering 6 million European Jews and importing in their stead what will very soon be 6 going-on-10 million West Asian and African Muslims in Germany alone. A former French government minister, Patrick Devedjian, hinted at that when he said, recently: “Germany took our Jews and gave us Arabs.” Poignant, though France gave up its Jews willingly and replaced them with Arabs willingly, too.

A fuller “profit-loss” reckoning transpired when an anonymous Spanish poet wrote in 2010 in a poem widely reproduced on the Internet:

[My inexpert translation: “Europe died in Auschwitz. We assassinated 6 million Jews in order to end up importing 20 million Muslims … In Auschwitz we burnt the culture, intelligence and power to create … As the result of relaxing borders … the absurd pretext of tolerance… we have 20 million Muslims (and millions more now), mostly illiterate and fanatical. We exchanged culture for fanaticism, the capacity to create wealth for the will to destroy, intelligence for superstition. We exchanged the pride of survival for the fanatical obsession to die, killing us and our children in the process. What a mistake we have made!”]

1935: Germans smile and look on as three German-Jewish businessmen are forced to march down Bruehl Strasse in Leipzig, carrying signs that read, “Don’t buy from Jews. Shop in German businesses!” (Photo credit: William Blye Collection, courtesy of USHMM Photo Archives)

Standard social psychology theory of cognitive dissonance and internal justification predicts that Germany’s political and intellectual elites would seek to deny the consequences of their Muslims-for-Jews “trade.” Let alone, when their own power and fate among their countrymen depend on the force of that denial. Accordingly, they chant as one the mantra that imported Muslims are Germany’s salvation.

Gates of Vienna News Feed 10/2/2015

A fifteen-year old Iraqi-Kurdish boy shot a civilian police employee to death outside a police station in a western suburb of Sydney, Australia. When he shot at police emerging from the building, they return fire and killed him. The young offender was said to have been “radicalized” by unspecified means.

In other news, the German city of Hamburg passed a law that allows it to “borrow” commercial real estate to house migrants. In case property owners resist, the law empowers the government to make the transfer of premises compulsory.

The Other Immigrant Invasion

The European “refugee crisis” dominates the headlines these days, with the (mostly Muslim, mostly male) migrants streaming from the Aegean to Austria and Germany on the nightly news programs.

Our Norwegian correspondent The Observer sends the following report about the problems caused by a different group of immigrants to Sweden: the Roma. Widely described as “Romanians” when they make headlines in Europe, the gypsies cause difficulties wherever they migrate. Whatever country they settle in — which they never really do, being a nomadic culture — they cause exactly the same set of social problems. Ordinary citizens who describe the depredations of the Roma always describe the same symptoms: primitive living conditions, a lack of basic hygiene, piles of rubbish around their dwellings, and widespread crime in the surrounding communities.

Yet to discuss these issues in simple, factual terms is to risk ostracism and prosecution in most Western European countries.

A note from The Observer:

This report concerns a TV program that aired in Sweden a week or so ago. The program deals with the unwillingness of the Swedish police and various government agencies to uphold the law of the land. The program is called “Uppdrag Granskning” and may be found on YouTube. There are no English subtitles, but I would still encourage people to watch it, just to get a sense of how bad things really are in Sweden.

The Other Immigrant Invasion: The Migration of Roma into Sweden

by The Observer

The police in Sweden are waving the white flag.

No taxation without representation. It’s a principle that the founding fathers of the USA succeeded in introducing in the 18th century after a long and drawn-out revolution that cost several thousand American pioneers their lives. Their European cousins, however, let it slip through their fingers in the 20th and 21st centuries without even twitching an arm to prevent it. The consequence of this momentous loss is that any European citizen that today raise legitimate questions about the lack of democratic process will, figuratively speaking, be hit over the head with thousands of paragraphs, binding conventions and legislation concocted by unelected bureaucrats, which the concerned citizen has had no say in shaping or influencing whatsoever.

We got a brief glimpse into the way this lack of representation manifests itself in contemporary Europe a few days ago through the Swedish investigative TV program “Uppdrag Granskning”, which shone a light on some of the more disastrous side effects of one of the so-called fundamental “freedoms” of the EU, namely the one that deals with the destruction of national borders and the accompanying legislation that strips EU member nations of the right to decide who gets to cross their borders and who gets to stay. The program’s topic was the massive influx of Roma (gypsies) in recent years and the enormous problems that these individuals are causing in Sweden. The report focused primarily on the squalor and littering that seems to follow this particular group the way a contrail follows the flight path of a jetliner.

The reporter, Janne Josefsson, one of the few honest journalists left in Sweden, visited two different regions of the country, a tiny little village in the Swedish countryside, Högfors, and the heavily culturally enriched city of Malmö, where he showed the viewers how the Roma have completely taken over their surroundings and turned it into what can best be described as third-world shanty towns. Josefsson also reveals the total lack of consideration shown by the Roma for the rest of society, and how Swedish authorities deal with the numerous and revolting problems associated with this ethnic group.

Although the program didn’t deal specifically with the mass invasion of predominantly Muslim “refugees” that Europe is currently witnessing, it is still very informative and a must-see, most of all because it gives us a forewarning of how Swedish authorities will deal with the Muslim invasion when it starts in earnest in a few months. The simple answer is that they won’t, at least not if we’re to judge them by their response to the problems presented in the TV program, where various government agencies and local police pass the burden of responsibility for sorting out these issues among themselves like professional soccer players during a match.

The first half of the program is dedicated to the devastating fate that have befallen the indigenous residents of the little village of Högfors in the Swedish countryside, that have seen an influx of approximately 50-100 Roma in recent years. These “new Swedes” have moved into old apartment buildings that used to house Swedish workers in the past and that have now been bought up by private investors who are renting them out to the Roma. It highlights the legitimate concerns that the primarily older Swedish inhabitants of the village have, several of whom are too scared to even venture out of their houses.

One of the Swedish inhabitant interviewed in the program tells the reporter that the problem is getting so bad, mostly due to police indifference and inaction, that some of the villagers have hinted that they might get their guns out and sort the problem themselves. He adds cryptically that most of the people in the area are avid hunters, and that the majority of the Swedish households have guns. He is genuinely worried that some will eventually snap and simply take the law into their own hands.

Should We Tolerate Intolerance?

Below is the intervention read by Elisabeth Sabaditsch-Wolff, representing Bürgerbewegung Pax Europa at the OSCE Human Dimension Implementation Meeting, Session 14 “Tolerance and non-discrimination II, including: Combating racism, xenophobia and discrimination, also focusing on intolerance and discrimination against Christians and members of other religions”, Warsaw, September 30, 2015.

OSCE Human Dimension Implementation Meeting

Working Session 14

To what extent can we tolerate intolerance?

Ladies and gentlemen, distinguished delegates.

We are gathered here in order to discuss how to prevent and eliminate discrimination against individuals or communities on the grounds of religion or belief in the exercise of fundamental freedoms in all fields of life, including equal rights of believers and non-believers.

However, these fine intentions cause us to be confronted with the paradox of tolerance. In the words of Karl Popper:

If we are not prepared to defend a tolerant society against the onslaught of the intolerant, then the tolerant will be destroyed, and tolerance with them.

Fortunately, this paradox lends itself to an easy resolution: In order to defend tolerance, we must have the courage to remain intolerant towards intolerance, with vigilance and diligence.

We, the defenders of human rights, democracy and free, secular societies have no obligation to be tolerant of those with different ideological aims. OSCE pS cannot have any obligations to be tolerant of ideologies, organizations or individuals opposed to fundamental OSCE principles.

Religious Liberty vs. “Defamation of Religion”

Below is the intervention read by Dave Petteys, representing the ACT For America 5280 Coalition at the OSCE Human Dimension Implementation Meeting, Session 15 “Freedom of thought, conscience, religion or belief: Ensuring the collective dimension of freedom of religion or belief”, Warsaw, September 30, 2015.

OSCE 2015 Human Dimension Implementation Meeting

Working Session 15: Fundamental Freedoms

Mr/Mme. Moderator, Ladies and Gentlemen, thank you.

Religious Liberty is a basic freedom in the West. The First Amendment of the Constitution of the United States says “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof”; this means there is a clear separation of church and state, with religion an individual and private matter.

But it seems in most of the public forums the discussion of “freedom of religion” has been finessed by self-defined Islamic entities to the subject of “combatting the defamation of religions”[1]. And even though such documents refers to “religion”, the texts clearly only refer to Islam.

The reason for this seems clear. In the West, freedom of religion includes changing one’s religion or even choosing not to belong at all. This is not the case in other faiths. In fact, in some religions to leave is a capital offense.[2] So it’s understandable that the self-identified Islamic entities would prefer to change the subject and make accusations of “defamation and Islamophobia” against anyone who brings up such matters.

Tolerance is a Two-Way Street

Below is the intervention read by Dave Petteys, representing the ACT For America 5280 Coalition at the OSCE Human Dimension Implementation Meeting, Session 14 “Combating Racism, Xenophobia and Discrimination, also Focusing on Intolerance and Discrimination against Christians and Members of other Religions”, Warsaw, September 30, 2015.

OSCE 2015 Human Dimension Implementation Meeting

Working Session 14: Tolerance and non-Discrimination

Mr./Mme. Moderator, Ladies and Gentlemen, thank you.

Mr/Ms. Moderator:

“Tolerance” is defined as the “willingness to accept feelings, habits or beliefs that are different from your own” [Merriam Webster Dictionary].

Yet what do we see?

  • The 2006 the world-wide Danish Cartoon riots that killed dozens and caused widespread damage.
  • Vitriol and threats over the remarks of Pope Benedict XVI mentioning some historical facts at a conference in Regensburg.
  • In Paris, the notorious Charlie Hebdo attack that killed a dozen journalists.

These violent events seem to show marked intolerance and an appalling unwillingness to “accept beliefs that are different from their own”.

Mr/Mme. Moderator:

The ACT for America 5280 Coalition recommends that any complaints by self-defined Islamic entities concerning “intolerance” be ignored until such a time that these same entities show some of the tolerance to others that they are demanding from the West.

Thank you, ladies and gentlemen.
