Gates of Vienna News Feed 11/19/2017

President Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe was expected to announce his resignation today, after his own party, Zanu-PF, ousted him as its leader. However, in his address today he failed to mention when or whether he will resign as president.

In other news, Donald Tusk, the president of the European Council and a former prime minister of Poland, said that Poland is simply following Russian orders in its anti-migration policies.

EU Finally Admit Bloated Budget Will Collapse Without UK Contribution

THE EUROPEAN Union has finally admitted that without the UK’s sizeable contributions the bloated Brussels budget will collapse, a secret memo has revealed.

Confidential papers from the European Commission reveal that Brexit will slash the trade bloc’s budget by 16 per cent and could lead to a suspension of aid to some of Europe’s expectant countries.

Spain’s €37billion (£33bn) and Italy’s €43bn in structural funds from the EU could be drastically cut once the UK leaves the EU, while aid money to Greece, Portugal and Eastern European countries could also be at risk.

The failure of the EU to secure a large divorce bill with the UK could lead to chaotic infighting inside the EU27.

Google Launches Colossal Censorship, Disinformation Campaign Under Cover of Night

Tech giant launches digital Night of the Long Knives in response to Trump presidency

Google is now “reviewing the claims” of Infowars news articles by including links to left-leaning “fact checking” sites when people search for Alex Jones or Infowars.

Google’s biography box for Alex Jones, which is shown with related search results, now has a “Reviewed Claims” tab which displays an Infowars headline and an associated article from Politifact and/or Snopes.com that disputes the news.

The problem is that these “fact checking” sites are not as unbiased as they claim and are typically aligned with establishment interests, particularly those of Silicon Valley which wanted Hillary Clinton in the White House.

“Most ‘fact checkers’ are merely liberal journalists looking to prove their preconceived narrative,” wrote the Washington Times’ Kelly Riddell. “They cherry-pick the statements to ‘fact-check’ and then decide which data to back it up with.”

“Statistics can be manipulated — for every study coming out of the Brookings Institute, the Heritage Foundation can have a counter argument, depending on the methodology and surveys used. Moreover, much of what they decide to ‘fact-check’ is subjective at best. Nothing that can be pinned down with undisputed data.”

In short, “fact checking” is opinion journalism pretending to be some sort of heightened objectivity, as the Wall Street Journal’s James Taranto so eloquently stated.

Man Charged With Stabbing Off-Duty CPD Officer in ‘Domestic Incident’

CHICAGO — A man is charged with stabbing an off-duty police officer while she was driving Friday morning in the South Shore neighborhood.

David Johnson, 21, of the South Deering neighborhood, was charged with a felony count of attempted first-degree murder, Chicago Police announced Saturday.

Johnson was denied bond at a court appearance Sunday, according to Cook County sheriff’s office records.

The 47-year-old woman was driving about 8:14 a.m. Friday near 76th and Stony Island Avenue when she was stabbed multiple times by someone she knew inside the vehicle, according to Chicago Fire Department spokesman Larry Merritt and Chicago Police.

A police source said Johnson is the woman’s stepson.

She was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in serious but stable condition with a head injury, authorities said. She was expected to recover.

Person Shot, Killed in Goffstown, Sources Say; AG Investigating Suspicious Death

GOFFSTOWN, N.H. — The Attorney General’s office announced Sunday night that it was investigating a suspicious death in Goffstown.

Sources told WMUR that a person was shot and killed in Goffstown Sunday evening.

The victim sustained serious injuries, sources said.

Goffstown police, Dunbarton police, Manchester police and Manchester SWAT were all searching the area of Ace Hardware on Depot Street for a possible suspect.

SWAT officers asked local businesses to turn off their lights and asked WMUR to keep its camera lights off.

WMUR’s Tim Callery reported that at 6 p.m. a number of roadblocks were set up on Depot, Mill and North Mast streets, but police seemed to be focused on the Main Street bridge.

People going into restaurants and shops were told to expect to stay inside for some time. One person was asked to either get into the building and stay there or to leave…

Top NSA Whistleblower Claims ‘Russiagate’ A Fake to Increase War-Spending

William Binney is the mathematician and Russia-specialist, who quit the NSA in 2001 as its global Technical Director for geopolitical analysis, because of the lying about, and manipulations of, intelligence, that he saw — distortions of intelligence by the George W. Bush Administration — in order to ‘justify’ systematic, massive, and all-encompassing, Government snooping into all Americans’ private electronic communications. His, and some colleagues’, efforts to get the Inspector General of the US Department of Defense to investigate the matter, produced FBI raids into their homes, and seizures of their computers, so as to remove incriminating evidence they might have against higher-ups. According to Binney, NSA’s Director, Michael Hayden, had vetoed in August 2001 a far less intrusive and more effective system of signals-intelligence collection and analysis, which might have enabled the 9/11 attacks to be blocked — a more effective system that would have been less expensive, less intrusive, and not violated Americans’ Constitutional rights. Hayden went on to head the CIA, until the end of George W. Bush’s Presidency. Afterward, Hayden joined the Chertoff Group and other military-industrial-complex contractors of the US federal Government. There were no such rewards for any of the whistleblowers.

Binney viewed Hillary Clinton as continuing George W. Bush’s neoconservatism, and so, though reluctantly, voted for Donald Trump in the 2016 election.

On November 15th, an interview of Binney was published at the Washingtonsblog news-site, titled “How to Instantly Prove (Or Disprove) Russian Hacking of US Election”, in which Binney provides technical details to explain why he strongly believes that the Democratic Party’s allegations, which say that Russia was the source of the leaks of information from the computers of the Democratic National Committee and from Hillary Clinton’s campaign manager John Podesta, are nothing more than intentional concoctions and distortions, which are backed and promoted by America’s military-industrial complex, whose stock-values rise accordingly with the lies.

ECB Proposes End to Deposit Protection

It is the ‘opinion of the European Central Bank’ that the deposit protection scheme is no longer necessary:

‘covered deposits and claims under investor compensation schemes should be replaced by limited discretionary exemptions to be granted by the competent authority in order to retain a degree of flexibility.’

To translate the legalese jargon of the ECB bureaucrats this could mean that the current €100,000 (£85,000) deposit level currently protected in the event of a bail-in may soon be no more.

EU Takes Swipe at Poland and Compares Policies to Kremlin

DONALD Tusk has lashed out at Poland and accused it of doing the Kremlin’s bidding in the latest row between the EU and the country.

The European Council president, Poland’s former prime minister, slammed the country’s leadership, saying it was pursuing an isolationist policy.

European chiefs have been highly critical of the state’s ruling right-wing Law and Justice (PiS) party with a series of disputes over immigration.

And Mr Tusk used Twitter today to again meddle in the country’s affairs.

Europe: Destroyed by the West’s Indifference?

Our media and intelligentsia are always on alert to defend everything coming from Islam, from women’s veils to the “right not be offended” by cartoons. The same establishment, however, lies in a coma when it comes to Christian symbols under attack.

The West today keeps on hiding its deepest secret: that there is an Islamic war going on against our own Judeo-Christian civilization.

“They want Christianity eradicated, and they want to convert all Muslims to their crusade… They want it to be a holy war. And they want Christians gone. And I don’t think that narrative is getting the attention it should get…” — Piers Morgan, Daily Mail.

France to ‘Prevent’ Muslim Street Prayers in Paris Suburb

French authorities will stop Muslims from praying in a street north of Paris, the country’s interior minister said on Sunday, after a series of protests by lawmakers and locals over what they view as an unacceptable use of public space.

“They will not have prayers on the street, we will prevent street praying,” Interior Minister Gerard Collomb told Questions Politics (Franceinfo, France Inter, Le Monde).

Germany Coalition: Talks Collapse as FDP Pulls Out

Talks on forming a coalition government in Germany have collapsed after the free-market liberal FDP pulled out.

FDP leader Christian Lindner said there was no “basis of trust” with Chancellor Angela Merkel’s conservative CDU/CSU bloc and the Greens.

What happens next is unclear, but Mrs Merkel is due to meet President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, who has the power to call snap elections.

Syrian Terror Suspect Flies From Germany to Greece Despite Electronic Tag

A Syrian migrant deemed to pose a threat who was investigated for terror was able to board a flight from Germany to Greece, despite being electronically tagged.

The 35-year-old, known as Hussein Z., is likely to have come to Germany in February 2015 as an asylum seeker and is thought to have been living in the town of Aschaffenburg in northwest Bavaria.

He had been investigated on suspicion of membership of a terrorist group, according to Die Welt, and the Bavarian state protectors classified him as “particularly dangerous”, likely because of Islamist views.

His movements were supposedly being tracked and controlled, yet he was able to walk on to a commercial fight unopposed.

China Builds World’s Fastest Wind Tunnel to Test Weapons That Could Strike US Within 14 Minutes

China is building the world’s fastest wind tunnel to simulate hypersonic flight at speeds of up to 12 kilometres per second.

A hypersonic vehicle flying at this speed from China could reach the west coast of the United States in less than 14 minutes.

Zhao Wei, a senior scientist working on the project, said researchers aimed to have the facility up and running by around 2020 to meet the pressing demand of China’s hypersonic weapon development programme.

“It will boost the engineering application of hypersonic technology, mostly in military sectors, by duplicating the environment of extreme hypersonic flights, so problems can be discovered and solved on the ground,” said Zhao, a deputy director of the State Key Laboratory of High Temperature Gas Dynamics at the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing.

The ground tests will significantly reduce the risk of failure when test flights of hypersonic aircraft start.

The world’s most powerful wind tunnel at present is America’s LENX-X facility in Buffalo, New York state, which operates at speeds of up to 10 kilometres per second — 30 times the speed of sound.

Victoria’s Secret Staff Think the Chinese Are Spying on Them

Stories about the shambolic Victoria’s Secret fashion show — which is slated to take place Tuesday Nov. 28 in Shanghai — just keep getting weirder.

Chinese bureaucrats have so far refused to cooperate with the show’s producers and planners, denying visas to Gigi Hadid, one of the show’s highest-profile models, and Katy Perry, the US pop superstar who was slated to be the musical guest.

The Communist Party has also inexplicably refused to issue press passes and visas to members of the western media who were supposed to travel to China to cover the event.

Already, we imagine the marketing brass at L Brands have learned their lesson, and that this will be both the first, and the last, VS fashion show held in China.

But as if all this weren’t enough, the New York Post is now reporting that the show’s organizers believe the Chinese government is spying on them. Which, of course, is probably true, given Chinese authorities’ well-known penchant for monitoring foreigners.

  1. Used to respect Mr. Tusk a lot, shame he rather sell his country than earn less money from the EU.

  2. Glad to see our Chinese friends continuing their epic troll job on the VS fashion show!

As for the Muslim pub prayer, it is obvious he is claiming territory and sending a message. Soon there will be 5 of them, the 10, then 100, then the pub will be converted into a mosque.
