Foreigners Are Dumping U.S. Debt at a Record Pace and Our $20 Trillion National Debt is Poised to Become a Major Crisis

While most of the country has been focused on the inauguration of Donald Trump, a very real crisis has been brewing behind the scenes. Foreigners are dumping U.S. debt at a faster rate than we have ever seen before, and U.S. Treasury yields have been rising. This is potentially a massive problem, because our entire debt-fueled standard of living is dependent on foreigners lending us gigantic mountains of money at ultra-low interest rates. If the average rate of interest on U.S. government debt just got back to 5 percent, which would still be below the long-term average, we would be paying out about a trillion dollars a year just in interest on the national debt. If foreigners keep dumping our debt and if Treasury yields keep climbing, a major financial implosion of historic proportions is absolutely guaranteed within the next four years.

One of the most significant aspects of the “Obama legacy” is the appalling mountain of debt that he has left behind. As I write this article, the U.S. national debt is sitting at 19.944 trillion dollars. During Obama’s eight years, a staggering 9.3 trillion dollars was added to the national debt. When you break that number down, it comes to more than a hundred million dollars every single hour of every single day while Obama was living in the White House. In just two terms, Obama added almost as much to the national debt as all of the other presidents before him combined.

What Obama and the members of Congress that cooperated with him have done to future generations of Americans is beyond criminal.

Unfortunately, hardly anyone is talking about this right now, but the consequences are about to start catching up with us in a major way.

Peso, Loonie Drop After NAFTA Renegotiation Executive Order Headlines

Confirming his campaign rhetoric and inaugural address tone, President Donald Trump is expected to sign an executive order as early as Monday to renegotiate the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) with Canada and Mexico, according to NBC News’ Kristen Welker.

President Donald Trump is expected to sign an executive order as early as Monday stating his intention to renegotiate the free trade agreement between the United States, Canada and Mexico, a White House official told NBC News.

Eliminating the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), which was crafted by former President Bill Clinton and enacted in 1994, was a frequent Trump campaign promise.

The deal was intended to eliminate most trade tariffs between the three nations, increase investment and tighten protection and enforcement of intellectual property.

The reaction in the Mexican Peso and Canadian Dollar is clear…

This should hardly be surprise…

I will renegotiate NAFTA. If I can’t make a great deal, we’re going to tear it up. We’re going to get this economy running again. #Debate

– — Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) October 20, 2016

Canada’s ambassador to the United States said it was clear the Trump team were concerned above all about trade deficits with Mexico and China.

“I don’t think Canada is the focus at all,” David MacNaughton told reporters in Calgary, Alberta, ahead of a two-day government retreat focused on how to handle the new Trump administration.

Additionally, as CNN’s Jake Tapper tweeted, Trump is expected to abandon TPP…

Sr WH official: POTUS’s first executive action on Monday will be to withdraw from the Trans-Pacific Partnership, per @JDiamond1

– — Jake Tapper (@jaketapper) January 23, 2017

All of which confirms the new White House’s statement:

“This strategy starts by withdrawing from the Trans-Pacific Partnership and making certain that any new trade deals are in the interests of American workers,”

“President Trump is committed to renegotiating NAFTA. If our partners refuse a renegotiation that gives American workers a fair deal, then the president will give notice of the United States’ intent to withdraw from NAFTA.”

Horrors: Putting America First!

President Donald Trump made it clear to the world during his Inauguration speech that from now on, the U.S. would make decisions based on the principle of putting America first. The media mavens got their knickers in a very uncomfortable knot because of that new operating principle. How dare Trump suggest such an un-American concept! The very thought is not only annoying, and audacious, but abrasive and aggressive!

The radical leftists believe that the U.S. should put every other nation first when making decisions that affect the U.S. Of course, they don’t expect any other nation to do such a stupid thing but America must never follow policies, practices, and programs that have our best interest as primary!

This does not mean that American people should not help other nations in times of disaster as we have always done but that U.S. political decisions should be made with the idea that we ask, “How will this impact our nation?” Then do what is best for the U.S.

It is insane to make decisions that are not beneficial to America. Would any of these non-thinkers suggest that a family should not make decisions based on what is best for them? One media darling suggested that it was racist to “put America first.” But then, everything seems to be racist at this time.

Obama Outlaws More Light Bulbs on His Way Out the Door

The law doesn’t go into effect for another three years

The Department of Energy (DOE) outlawed more light bulbs Thursday in a final regulatory surge from the outgoing Obama administration.

President Barack Obama’s DOE expanded the class of bulbs covered by a 2007 light bulb ban to include bug lights, three-way bulbs, “rough service lamps,” and some decorative bulbs, such as globe-shaped bulbs. Bulbs that had previously been exempt from the ban are now included in the new regulation.

Reince Priebus: Ex-CIA Chief Brennan ‘Bitter’ He Wasn’t Retained by President Trump

‘I think perhaps he’s bitter — you know, he was replaced the day before, he was not asked to hold over…’

White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus chalked up the apparent rift between President Trump and the intelligence community to the fact that former CIA director John Brennan is “bitter” he wasn’t retained.

“I find the whole thing despicable,” Mr. Priebus said on “Fox News Sunday.” “I think that it’s unprofessional, I think perhaps he’s bitter — you know, he was replaced the day before, he was not asked to hold over like [former director of national intelligence James] Clapper was. I don’t know what’s in his head.”

He said Mr. Brennan has “a lot of things that he should answer for” with regard to a leaked dossier containing unsubstantiated and embarrassing allegations against Mr. Trump.

The Filibuster in the Era of Trump

The filibuster may seem a weapon of obstruction in the hands of Senator Schumer, but the Minority Leader may find himself in a trap of his own making when he uses it…

The trick that allowed these “filibusters” to succeed “behind the curtain” was created by Senators Mike Mansfield and Robert Bird after filibusters of civil rights legislation in the early 1960s. In essence, when the Minority Leader tells the Majority Leader that a filibuster is intended, the Majority Leader places the “filibustered” action on a second calendar where it never sees the light of day. Under this custom, Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has allowed the Senate to be “filibustered,” blocking action on bills the Democrats don’t like, simply allowing Democrats to have their way.

In theory, this two-calendar “filibuster” is designed to allow the Senate to operative efficiently to tackle the supposed “immense legislative load” it faces. But the proper term for this is “pre-emptive surrender.” Senator Mitch McConnell has declared that he will not fight. But he does not need to fight. All he needs to do is to require the Democrats to fight.

Trump’s Realist Vision

by Srdja Trifkovic

In his inaugural address President Trump made an important statement on foreign affairs which reflects his views on the nature of the international system and America’s role in it. His is a realist paradigm, explicitly based on interests rather than “values.” This is at odds with the bipartisan consensus which has guided the U.S. foreign policy for some decades now.

Friday’s address heralds Trump’s break with the legacy of Woodrow Wilson, which has created countless problems for America and the world over the past 99 years. Unlike his immediate predecessors’ inauguration speeches, it contained no reference to expanding freedom and ending tyranny in the world (Bush 2005), or supporting democracy abroad (Obama 2013). Trump specifically rejected the notion of transforming the world in America’s image.

Trump said that “every decision on trade, on taxes, on immigration, on foreign affairs” will be made to benefit Americans. “We will seek friendship and goodwill with the nations of the world, but we do so with the understanding that it is the right of all nations to put their own interests first. We do not seek to impose our way of life on anyone, but rather to let it shine as an example.”

Trump Warns “We Are Going to be Imposing a Very Major Border Tax”

One look at the Dollar Index in the last week and it’s clear just how ‘variable’ President Trump’s position has been on trade and so-called ‘border adjustments’. In the space of a few days, he has swung from being against a border adjustment, to possibly being for it, and now today confirming that “we are going to impose a major border tax.” Yen, Peso, and Loonie are all sliding further on the headline.

Specifically, as the clips below show, Trump promised business leaders a “very major” border tax and said he would cut regulations by 75%. Trump held a breakfast meeting with the business leaders he named to an advisory panel on manufacturing, led by Andrew Liveris, chief executive officer of Dow Chemical Co. Other business leaders at the morning meeting with Trump included Michael Dell, chairman and CEO of Dell Inc.; Jeff Fettig, chairman and CEO of Whirlpool Corp.; Mark Fields, president and CEO of Ford Motor Co.; and Marillyn Hewson, chairman and CEO of Lockheed Martin Corp.

Some highlights:

“We’re trying to get it down to anywhere from 15 to 20 percent, and it’s now 35 percent, but it’s probably more 38 percent than it is 35” “What we want to do is bring manufacturing back… It’s what the people wanted” “What we want is fair trade” “That doesn’t mean we don’t trade because we do trade”

“If you go to another country” and cut thousands of jobs, “we are going to be imposing a very major border tax” on the product the comes in “You are great people,” Trump tells CEOs “I’m a very big person when it comes to the environment,” Trump says “But some of that stuff makes it impossible to get anything built”

Later in the day, Trump will meet with a group of labor leaders and U.S. workers, according to his public schedule. In between, he’ll sign executive orders related to trade and labor issues, an administration official said. The official didn’t provide further detail on the orders.

[Comment: ““If you go to another country” and cut thousands of jobs, “we are going to be imposing a very major border tax” on the product the comes in “You are great people,” Trump tells CEOs” … excellent. This should have happened long ago were it not for the globalist puppet politicians. Access to the US market is a privilige, not a right.]

Van Jones Leads CNN Assault on Trump

In his blockbuster new film, “Civil War 2017,” Trevor Loudon asks why the political left is so determined to destroy the Trump presidency. Matthew Vadum of the Capital Research Center responds that Trump “doesn’t back down from a fight,” unlike previous “squishy” Republicans. What’s more, Trump has upended the “progressive coalition” by convincing millions of Democrats to abandon their union leaders and the Democratic Party.

Marxism is at a crossroads. And so are its adherents in the media, such as Van Jones of CNN. Jones is smart enough to know that Trump has tapped into the anger and discontent of American workers. But at the same time, he is compelled to rally what remains of the progressive coalition against Trump. That is why he spoke at the “Women’s March on Washington” on Saturday, and then went on CNN to comment on what he said…

You may have missed the highlights. It featured filthy language, transgenderism, the benefits of killing the unborn, rights for illegal aliens and pure unadulterated communism.

By way of background, remember that the workers used to be the cornerstone of the revolution. The phrase, “Workers of the world unite,” is right from the Communist Manifesto. These workers are now behind Trump. They want jobs, not heroin. They want economic and industrial development in traditional fossil fuel industries that the Democratic Party has been trying to bankrupt through the climate change hoax and green energy scams.

[Comment: You can trust a communist to act like a communist. ]

Introduce Uniform Civil Code to Prevent Further Islamisation of India: Taslima Nasreen

Muslim Fundamentalists protested against Taslima in Jaipur Literature Festival… But, in a Hindu majority India, she is protected!

Upendra Bharti | HENB | New Delhi | Jan 23, 2017:: Atheist Bangladeshi author Taslima Nasreen, now in exile in India, on Monday waded into the Uniform Civil Code debate, saying it was an essential need for India.

“Uniform Civil Code (UCC) is necessary to protect women’s rights, irrespective of religion,” she said during a surprise session at the Jaipur Literature Festival. The session was kept confidential by the organisers till the last minute.

The liberal crusader against the Radical Islam hints that it will be an aggravated situation of the Sharia People, if the UCC is not introduced in time. “The measure is urgently needed to empower people with their rights before turned as an Islamic hell in India”, the author explained.

“If you have a set of laws for Hindus, if Hindu women can divorce their husbands and have a say in their property, and we have seen how progressive that has been, then why are Islamic fundamentalists against a uniform civil law? Is not having a uniform civil law democratic?” she asked.

In the impromptu session at the Jaipur Literature Festival here, the author who has been living in exile since 1994 after facing the ire of fundamentalists, said the Islamic society needed to be more tolerant towards criticism to make progress.

“It is necessary for Islamic society to be tolerant and accept criticism without which they cannot progress. Uniform Civil Code is urgently required for empowering people with human rights,” she said…

For the First Time Ever Russia Beats Saudi Arabia as China’s Top Oil Supplier

While OPEC members were infighting over crude production and export quotas, posturing with temporary production cuts (just so the Saudis could get a six month reprieve during which it clears out a massive internal crude glut), Russia was busy capturing market share, and according to overnight Chinese data, Russia overtook Saudi Arabia as China’s top oil supplier last year for the first time ever boosted by robust demand from independent Chinese “teapot” refineries.

Russia boosted oil exports to China by 24% from 2015 to 52.5 million metric tons, or 1.05 million barrels per day, according to data released Monday by the General Administration of Customs, cited by Bloomberg. In a blow to Ridyah’s ambitions, the Middle Eastern kingdom slipped to second place, shipping 51 million tons, or 1.02 million barrels per day, little changed from a year earlier.

For December, Russia also held the top spot with supplies up 4.8 percent from the same month a year earlier at 1.19 million bpd. Meanwhile Saudi sales dropped nearly 20 percent from a year earlier to 841,820 bpd, data from the Chinese General Administration of Customs showed.

On Saturday, the nation’s capital was inundated with masses of loud, obnoxious, foul-mouthed Trump-hating women (there were also men) at what was billed the “Women’s March on Washington.” The Guardian called the event a “spontaneous” action for women’s rights, while Vox spoke of a “huge, spontaneous groundswell” behind the march.

While the mainstream media bombarded news consumers with news stories claiming few Americans were interested in the inauguration festivities, television ratings for President Donald Trump’s inauguration were the second-highest Nielsen has recorded in 36 years, drawing 30.6 million TV viewers across 12 networks. Factoring in live streams provided by the networks, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, and other online portals adds millions more viewers to the total. But what happened Saturday at the “Women’s March” was not spontaneous. No mass rallies are, especially on the Left.

This so-called “protest”, like the violent attacks orchestrated by the DisruptJ20 coalition on pro-Trump events such as Friday’s “DeploraBall” at the National Press Club, was not an organically generated demonstration.

The usual culprits were involved behind the scenes using the same fascistic tactics they used to shut down the massive Trump campaign rally at the University of Illinois at Chicago in March last year.

President Trump and Putin Union Create World Peace, According to Dalai Lama

DONALD TRUMP has been urged to cosy up to Russian President Vladimir Putin for a powerful union which could influence others across the globe.

The Dalai Lama has insisted the pair should form a special relationship since he believes the duo could promote peace.

The exiled spiritual leader of Tibetan Buddhists insisted heads of state all over the world should be compassionate.

  1. >> Srdja Trifkovic: “Friday’s address heralds Trump’s break with the legacy of Woodrow Wilson, which has created countless problems for America and the world over the past 99 years.”

I pray that Mr. Trifkovic is correct in his assessment. Woodrow Wilson has been, bar none, the worst American president of all, and one of the most despicable villains in human history.

    • Woodrow Wilson (1856-1924), the 28th U.S. president, served in office from 1913 to 1921 and led America through World War I (1914-1918). An advocate for democracy and world peace, Wilson is often ranked by historians as one of the nation’s greatest presidents. Wilson was a college professor, university president and Democratic governor of New Jersey before winning the White House in 1912. Once in office, he pursued an ambitious agenda of progressive reform that included the establishment of the Federal Reserve and Federal Trade Commission. Wilson tried to keep the United States neutral during World War I but ultimately called on Congress to declare war on Germany in 1917. After the war, he helped negotiate a peace treaty that included a plan for the League of Nations. Although the Senate rejected U.S. membership in the League, Wilson received the Nobel Prize for his peacemaking efforts.

[uncivil comment redacted]–“Wilson is often ranked by historians as one of the nation’s greatest presidents”.

      • >> Wilson is often ranked by historians as one of the nation’s greatest presidents

What else can you expect from the court historians?

    • Obama, Islamic promoter is without doubt the most evil of all American Presidents. Bowing low to the “King” of Saudi Barbaria, the most evil country on Earth.

  2. I really like the minimum wage that the EU is trying to impose on its subjects: We have that here too: I personally know a few managers who fired their weakest links on the day minimum wage came into being. The moral of the story is: Minimum wage is an instrument to put the weak and stupid out of any meaningful job!

And there goes “guaranteed minimum income”. Communists tried that, been there – yet what is it about the 1917-1990 experiment that wasn’t clear? If you guarantee income, people will lose their motivation to work!

Its like Venezuela: They also guaranteed electricity to everybody – only to find out that if electricity is free and electricity theft is not prosecuted – the grid will as sure as hell go down.

I heard that Venezuela tried the same policy with water. Guaranteed water for everyone! In the end, the water infrastructure got ruined by insufficient income mixed with record demands from those, who would get it for free…

What is it about socialists that they pursue the same failed policies over and over and over again? I mean, I can understand why someone is socialist. I just can’t understand why they do the same things over and over and expect different results? Are they insane?

    • If you can understand why someone is socialist, you should be able to understand why s/he pursues the same (albeit failed) process. Following a faith implies following the act implied by the faith.

    • Yeah, Venezuela is a great case study on the failure of Socialist economic policies. Venezuela used to be a fairly prosperous thanks to oil. But when Hugo Chavez took control he nationalized all food production, among other things. Over the next few years they discovered (but won’t admit it of course) that State ownership and control of food production is hopelessly inferior to the free market. The result was production fell, shortages and empty supermarkets became commonplace. Today they face daily hyper-inflation. Socialism completely wrecked the economy and catapulted the country to the bottom of Third World rankings.

To find a worse example of Socialist failure, you need look no further than Zimbabwe, once known as the “Breadbasket of Africa.” Now another train wreck economy thanks to failed socialist policies.

  3. >> “Integrate or leave . . . ”

I was pleasantly surprised to read that Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte was aiming these words at “refugees”, and not to the native Dutch population.

    • Too late.

He and his ilk created the problem to begin with.

      Do not believe them.

He is lying to try to garner a few votes away from Wilders.

  4. “President Donald Trump made good on another one of his campaign promises by pulling the USA out of the Trans-Pacific Partnership, a controversial globalist trade deal. Mr. Trump is expected to announce shortly that the U.S. embassy in Israel will be moved to Jerusalem.”

He really really is what’s written on the tin isn’t he?!

    No wonder they’re terrified……..good…..

  5. Ex CIA Chief Brennan is bitter at not being held over! This is a very dangerous, conniving, deceitful man in the pocket of the Saudis. He would do anything to get his revenge. Trump better watch his back with this jackal on the loose.

    • Swamp beast Brennan. And the littlest violin in the world playing a sad tune for him.

About guaranteed minimum income. Well, folks are scrambling to figure out what to do with all the unemployed people, & fake disabled people, who have no hope of being employed. Part of it is jobs leaving… and if they pay workers $1 a day somewhere else in the world, companies will continue to leave. The other things are robotics, and people with few qualifications or skills. So what do you do? FDR started govt supported work force for awhile. Local coops would have been better. But how do you solve this problem? Would you work in the fields instead of the Mexicans?

      • In order to buy the votes of the unemployed unemployables with guaranteed incomes, governments will again resort to conjuring up “magic” money through central bank balance sheet expansions . . . which amounts to an effective wealth transfer from producers and owners of real assets. Producers will be motivated to relocate to friendlier jurisdictions. One of the aims of globalization control is to coral such “wayward” jurisdictions into their control, thus denying any refuge for producers who wish to be free.

      • >> Working in the fields instead of – or alongside – the Mexicans . . .

You can afford to be picky when you have an alternative to the menial slog. “The Mexicans” is not a constant. Mexicans also have ambitions, one of them being to become citizens or legitimate residents of the jurisdiction where they spend their lives. As such, they will be eligible for the minimum wage “protection”, making them as uncompetitive as any other American.

Expect the Rise of the Robots.

        Will robots have Rights?

        • If corporations have rights, sure. Some law clerk will make a mistake somewhere to create precedent if all else fails. 🙁

        • When enough professional people start becoming unemployable due to robots there will be a Butlerian Jihad.

          • That thought has crossed my mind. Maybe if The Donald gets to release some or all of that DARPA secret projects that they have hidden from us since WW2 we may never need to ever work again and can then pursue the real reason for why we come to this planet.

  6. Today’s US Treasury results:
    > 1.125 % on 2 year debt
    > 0.480% on 28 day debt

No sign that rates are spinning out of control despite the level of indebtedness.

    • Rates may have spun out of control, had they been set in any rational way; instead, we have an artifact of collusion between governments and “independent” central banks. A natural interest rate used to be a price. What we have now amounts to a conspiracy. The fact that it appears to be under control does not mean that no damage is being done.

I’m still betting on an inevitable default when minimal real assets remain to be pillaged. There are going to be a lot of angry peasants with pitchforks.

      • Indeed! And one only need to look back just 40 years ago to see what a single dollar would buy as compared to now – that is intentional and they have made trillions from it and we have been the one’s paying them all that money.

  7. Trump is already amazing in my worldview – he’s planning to sign an EO restricting access to the United States for refugees and some visa holders from seven mostly Muslim nations including Iraq, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen.

The latest rumors say he might try to end the entire Syrian refugee program and SUSPEND visas for Muslim majority countries…this is like some kind of dream as far as I’m concerned!!!

    http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2017-01-24/trump-sign-executive-order-restricting-immigration-seven-nations

    • He certainly is poking the hornet’s nest, and more power to him, for the world has indeed been going to hell in a handbasket with so called leaders taking stupid pills, the avaricious bankers going mad, race problems threatening not only America but Europe too–it’s the age of the minorities, you must have noticed!
Non-whites are far more ‘equal’ in most countries, perhaps not in Russia, but certainly here in Canada where the lunacy of affirmative action which only guarantees mediocrity, persists in all it’s misguided stupidity.

But President Trump cannot do it all by himself, and it would be nice if someone of his ilk would stand up in Europe.
For the record, right now I’m reading Bill O’Reilly’s “Killing Lincoln”….
