Gates of Vienna News Feed 12/8/2016

Forensic medical experts in Denmark have discovered that three-quarters of the “child” migrants claiming asylum in the country were actually adults. X-rays of their teeth and bones proved that 600 of 800 allegedly minor immigrants were lying about their age, and were considerably older.

In other migration news, Russia is rejecting the asylum applications of Syrians, on the grounds that Syria is in general not an unsafe place for them to live.

EU Fines 3 Banks $520 Million Over Rate Market Rigging

European Union regulators on Wednesday fined banks JPMorgan Chase, HSBC and Credit Agricole a combined $520 million for colluding to manipulate the price of financial products linked to interest rates.

EU antitrust Commissioner Margrethe Vestager said the banks illegally exchanged sensitive information and colluded to make big profits in the market on the specialized financial products.

Italy: MPS and Milan Bourse Rising Despite No Vote

‘No request for ESM loan’, says spokesman

(ANSA) — Rome, December 7 — The stocks of troubled Tuscan lender Monte dei Paschi di Siena (MPS) rose Wednesday after it confirmed the day before that it had received over one billion euros in voluntary conversions of subordinate bonds.

The bank on December 2 published preliminary data on the scheme, a major plank of a five-billion-euro fundraising aimed at ensuring the survival of the Siena-based bank.

The Milan bourse has been rising since the beginning of the week despite the No vote in Sunday’s Constitutional reform referendum. The FTSE was up 1.31% at midday on Thursday and was driven by banking sector stocks including MPS, which was up by 7.14%. The markets are keenly awaiting Thursday’s decision on European Central Bank (ECB) interest rates and a speech by ECB chief Mario Draghi.

ANSA was told by a spokesman for a European bailout fund on Wednesday that there had not been “any request or discussion with Italian authorities about a possible European Stability Mechanism (ESM) loan” in reference to reports in the media about requests for 15 billion euros to bail out MPS and other credit institutes.

Oops! UK £6 Billion Worse Off After Multi Billion Pound Gold “Accounting Error”

UK failed to measure huge imports of gold coins and bars after Brexit vote

Britain’s trade deficit with the rest of the world is £6 billion larger than previously thought — and at a record high — because the nation’s bean counters made a mistake in their sums.

The problem was found in the collection of “non-monetary gold” data, which measures the amount of gold traded privately rather than used in jewellery

The Office for National Statistics yesterday admitted to a big “processing error” that meant it had miscalculated the value of everything that the country exports and imports for almost two years. For the three months to September, the correction catapulted the trade deficit from £11 billion to £17 billion, the worst since records began in 1955.

Rise of the Machines: Millions of American Jobs Will be Wiped Out in the Next Five Years

As Mish Shedlock recently pointed out at Mish Talk, the transition to automated systems like Amazon Go, as well as technologies like self-driving cars and long-haul trucks, has been fast tracked.

We’re no longer talking decades, but rather, a few years before we start to see the direct effects on the labor market:

Once again competition is the driving force that will guarantee success no later than a 2022-2024 time frame. By the end of that period, if not much sooner, long-haul truck jobs will vanish.

“We Killed the Mainstream Media” This Journalist Got the System to React to Its Own Crimes

Project Veritas founder James O’Keefe appeared at David Horowitz’s Freedom Center and made the case for how his brand of bold journalism has turned the tide against the lies, planted & paid assets, scripted media talking points and cross-collaboration that tried to purchase a presidency for Hillary Clinton.

Despite outward appearances of a fair and free election in the world’s foremost democracy, the conflict of interest has reached a peak — literal presstitutes have been bought out and told to frame virtually everything in a light favorable to what was supposed to be the first female president.

Now, citizen journalists and determined activists have exposed that system. Wikileaks proved that the Democrat primary was rigged to keep Bernie from getting the nomination, and they tried to fix it for Hillary in the general election — but the anger and principled opposition among the American people kept that nightmare from happening.

Here is O’Keefe’s proclamation of victory — of slaying the mainstream, agenda-driven, propaganda media with the truth, caught on video:

Detroit Recount Observer: Box Marked ‘306’ Ballots — Only Had 50 Inside

Is it possible Jill Stein’s recount will actually catch big city Democrat Machine vote fraud?

Check out this first-hand account from an observer who said he was watching the recount in downtown Detroit.

Conservative activist Ken Crider wrote on Facebook:

Penny Crider and I just got back from helping watch the recount at Cobo Hall in Detroit. On Nov. 8th (election day) the election officials at 8:00 pm shut down the polls. They then reconciled the differences from the machine count and the voter count on the computer. At this point a Metal tag/seal with a serial number is put on the box and the box was taken away.

Penny’s precinct, Detroit Precinct #152 had an unbroken seal and everything looked proper. The tag on the box said 306 and the book said 306 and the ticket said 306, so there should be 306 paper ballots on the box, right. Well when they pulled out the ballots the stack seemed short and when they finished separating the two page ballot to count the Presidential page only guess how many ballots were in the box? 304 no, 299 nope, 200 nada, how about 100 wrong again. There were only exactly 50 paper ballots in a locked sealed box that again was supposed to have 306.

Crider noted, “since there was a discrepancy in the two numbers the original count stands.”

Facebook Already Blocking Links to “Fake News”

Google is also de-listing information pertaining to criticism of Islam

Despite Washington Post admitting its “fake news” exposé was based on shoddy research

Facebook is already blocking links to so-called “fake news” stories, despite the Washington Post being forced to admit that its own definitive article on “fake news” was based on shoddy research.

A Twitter user revealed how he tried to post an Alex Jones Channel video about ‘PizzaGate’ on Facebook but was blocked from doing so because Facebook characterized the YouTube link as “unsafe”.

This suggests that more than just blocking alleged “fake news” websites, Facebook is censoring certain topics from being posted altogether.

The social network giant also appears keen to comply with a European Union demand that all “fake news,” which was listed on a par with hate speech and jihadist propaganda, be censored within 24 hours.

As we reported yesterday, after pressure from academics, Google is also de-listing information pertaining to criticism of Islam and information about black people being overrepesented in crime figures (which is an objective fact).

Milo: “When I Announced I Was Speaking About Pizzagate… I Got Calls From D.C. Saying Not Yet”

Editor’s Comment: Was Milo told to hush up on this sensitive topic, or merely told to wait until more information is leaked? This controversy has blown over, after a man allegedly fired a shot inside Comet Ping Pong, and this pedophile conspiracy suddenly became the most taboo topic on the planet. Accounts and websites are being shut down, and under-circulated due to their willingness to discuss this subject matter.

Will free speech be silent? And what else does Milo and Breitbart know about the skeletons in the Dems closet? Some people now believe this information is what got Andrew Breitbart killed… but that remains to be seen.

The Dragon of Islamic Terrorism

[…]How different the world would be if, in 1989, every publisher — large and small — had published some portion of The Satanic Verses on their front pages. How different if politicians and diplomats in the West had delivered the simple and forceful message back to the Ayatollah: Unless you remove this threat, we will cancel all diplomatic visas. But they did not, and this is now our world. …

The dragon doubtless now knows more about us than we know about him. But if we can reassert our freedoms — faith, speech, ideas, laughter and definitely mockery — we can still avoid his tail.

Two Juveniles Charged With Arson in Tennessee Wildfires That Left 14 People Dead

Two juveniles have been charged with aggravated arson in connection with the wildfires that ravaged two East Tennessee resort towns last week, killing 14 people and leaving nearly 150 others injured and damaging or destroying hundreds of properties, authorities said Wednesday.

During an investigation involving local, state and federal agents, “information was developed that two juveniles allegedly started the fire” that roared through Great Smoky Mountains National Park before spreading into Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said in a news release.

Both were taken into custody Wednesday and are being held at the Sevier County Juvenile Detention Center.

The suspects are Tennessee residents, District Attorney General Jimmy B. Dunn said at a news conference in Sevierville. No additional information about the youths was made available, including their age and gender.

“I understand that you have a lot of questions,” Dunn told reporters. “However, the law does not allow for the disclosure of additional information at this time.”…

Washington Post Appends “Russian Propaganda Fake News” Story, Admits it May be Fake

The Bezos-owned publication may have engaged in defamation by smearing numerous websites

In the latest example why the “mainstream media” is facing a historic crisis of confidence among its readership, facing unprecedented blowback following Craig Timberg November 24 Washington Post story “Russian propaganda effort helped spread ‘fake news’ during election, experts say”, on Wednesday a lengthy editor’s note appeared on top of the original article in which the editor not only distances the WaPo from the “experts” quoted in the original article whose “work” served as the basis for the entire article (and which became the most read WaPo story the day it was published) but also admits the Post could not “vouch for the validity of PropOrNot’s finding regarding any individual media outlet”, in effect admitting the entire story may have been, drumroll “fake news” and conceding the Bezos-owned publication may have engaged in defamation by smearing numerous websites — Zero Hedge included — with patently false and unsubstantiated allegations.

It was the closest the Washington Post would come to formally retracting the story, which has now been thoroughly discredited not only by outside commentators, but by its own editor.

France Arrests 3 in Connection With June Police Killings

French police have arrested three men in connection with the killing of two police officials earlier this year by an extremist claiming loyalty to the Islamic State group.

Paris prosecutor’s office said Wednesday that three people with links to attacker Larossi Abballa, who was killed in a police raid in June, were arrested Monday and placed in custody.

The suspects are aged 22, 25 and 39. Authorities say two of them have ties to radical Islam.

On June 13, victim Jessica Schneider, a police administrator, and police commander Jean-Baptiste Salvaing were stabbed at their home in Magnanville, about 35 miles (55 kilometers) west of Paris. Their 3-year-old son survived the attack. Abballa was shot dead when police stormed the home to rescue the child.

Italy’s Constitutional Reform Was Rejected by Millennials and the Less Affluent

nadia ferrigo (translation by merope ippiotis)The Carlo Cattaneo research institute in the central Italian city of Bologna has revealed that it was millennials and weaker social strata that voted “No” in last Sunday’s constitutional referendum. Having analysed the results of the December 4 vote, the institute found that the “Yes” campaign was snubbed by the same social echelons that punished Renzi’s Democratic Party in last June’s local elections. In Rome, for example, the referendum was rejected by 59% of voters, the same percentage that voted “No” on a national level. Coincidentally, a similar trend was witnessed in the local elections that catapulted Five Star Movement member Virginia Raggi to the position of mayor of Rome. “Yes” won — only by a small margin — in the more affluent areas, the same ones that had voted for the Democratic Party candidate in Rome’s mayoral election…

The stand-up comic added “I’m sorry, but I won’t be your werewolf comedian”. Grillo added that “now they need an enemy” and said the “great pundits” should admit they got things wrong about Sunday’s Constitutional reform referendum, where the M5S was seen as one of the big winners over Premier Matteo Renzi, who promptly said he would resign. Grillo said he had already been “improbably labelled populist, fascist, and ignorant, but if that is so how come the M5S always gets it right in recognising what’s in the hearts of Italians?”.

Italy: Pisapia Ready to Unite Left Outside PD

Ex Milan mayor invites Renzi to break with centre-right forces

(ANSA) — Rome, December 7 — Former Milan mayor Giuliano Pisapia threw his hat into the ring on Wednesday and said he was ready to unite left-wing forces outside the Democratic Party (PD) led by outgoing Premier Matteo Renzi. “It is the moment of truth,” Pisapia said in an interview with La Repubblica newspaper in reference to the political repercussions of Sunday’s Constitutional reform referendum that resulted in an overwhelming defeat for the government also due to opposition from a left-wing faction within the PD. The civil rights lawyer said when general elections are held “as soon as possible, with an electoral law that is the same for both chambers” he is ready to return to the field at the helm of a grouping of progressive left-wing parties and movements that would enter into a “loyal alliance” with Renzi on condition that he breaks ties with current junior government partner New Centre Right (NCD) and the centrist Liberal Popular Alliance of Denis Verdini. “Matteo needs to choose now whether or not to go to the polls with the left,” Pisapia said, adding that the PD’s electorate would never accept an “alliance with the NCD that would turn it into a genetically modified party”.

“What is needed is an open alliance…uniting left-wing forces that are able to assume the responsibility of government.

Not for reasons of power, but to do left-wing things,” he continued.

There will be a first meeting in Rome on December 18 “with mayors who want an alliance with the PD”, followed by another meeting in Bologna, Pisapia said.

Muslim-Founded Dutch Political Party Posts That Hitler Was Jewish

A Dutch anti-discrimination group complained to police about a political party whose Muslim founders said Adolf Hitler was Jewish and that homosexuality is a contagious illness.

The Bureau Against Discrimination on Wednesday filed the hate speech complaint against the Free Democracy Party, which was established last week ahead of general parliamentary elections scheduled for March, the De Orkaan news site reported.

The party’s official Facebook page was blocked last month in what the party claims was a response to a post about Jews. The post said “Jews are worse than the devil” and accused Jews of helping Hitler reach power in Germany and participating in the murder of other Jews, according to De Orkaan. “Hitler was an Austrian Jew who during World War II killed many Jews, including by gassing them,” the post read.

The post also claimed Jews use the far-right Dutch politician Geert Wilders “as a pawn to stir trouble in Holland” and falsely asserted that Wilders is Hitler’s grandson.

Pope Pontificates on “Fake News, “ Calls it a Sin and Likens it to “Sexual Arousal From Excrement”

The Pope also says that people who consume fake news are sick and tend toward coprophagia… eating poop

In a recent interview with Tertio, the Pope weighed in on the so-called “fake news” scandal by calling disinformation a sin and saying that the media should not fall victim to “coprophilia” — that’s right, being aroused by poop.

A thing that can do great damage to the information media is disinformation: that is, faced with any situation, saying only a part of the truth, and not the rest. This is disinformation. Because you, to the listener or the observer, give only half the truth, and therefore it is not possible to make a serious judgement. Disinformation is probably the greatest damage that the media can do, as opinion is guided in one direction, neglecting the other part of the truth.

See, all of that is true… but he’s not specifying where this disinformation is coming from, leading the whole of the mainstream media to use the Pope’s statements to point fingers at the alternative media.

The Pope continued:

And then, I believe that the media should be very clear, very transparent, and not fall prey — without offence, please — to the sickness of coprophilia, which is always wanting to communicate scandal, to communicate ugly things, even though they may be true. And since people have a tendency towards the sickness of coprophagia, it can do great harm. Thus, I would say that there are these four temptations. But they are builders of opinion and can construct, and do immense good, immense.

That’s right, the Pope also says that people who consume fake news are sick and tend toward coprophagia… eating poop.

He’s not talking about governments who spend billions on war propaganda or the mainstream media who parrots and tows the establishment line, even when its a blatant lie…

He’s getting on board with the same censorship agenda as the rest of the system… in a really sick way.

Shari’a Law Meets the Internet

The UK has for several years faced problems with its growing number of shari’a councils (often misleadingly called courts). These councils operate outside British law, yet frequently give rulings on matters such as divorce, child custody, inheritance and more, which are based on Islamic law and in contradiction of the rights of individuals (usually women) under UK legislation. Many Muslim communities in cities such as Bradford, Birmingham, Luton, or boroughs such as Tower Hamlets in London are both sizeable and close-knit; individuals in them are made to live lives in accordance with Pakistani, Bangladeshi and Islamic traditional norms. This means that contact with British life at large is often restricted, with a lack of assimilation that traps many women and girls into lives very close to the lives of their sisters in Muslim countries.

The scale of the terrorism threat to the UK is “unprecedented”, the new head of MI6 has said.

Mr Younger also warned that “hybrid warfare”, which included cyber-attacks and subverting democracy, was becoming an “increasingly dangerous phenomenon”.

“The risks at stake are profound and represent a fundamental threat to our sovereignty,” he said. “They should be a concern to all those who share democratic values.”

UK: Another Massive Charity Commission Whitewash

On November 4, the British charity regulator, the Charity Commission, published a report of its inquiry into the Islamic Education and Research Academy (iERA), a British Salafist group and religious training organisation. The inquiry was initially welcomed by moderate Muslim groups and counter-extremism analysts, but many will be disappointed with the Charity Commission’s recommendations.

More than a dozen pieces have been written for the Gatestone Institute examining the iERA’s links to extremism, as well as the failure of government, media and even Jewish organisations to tackle this fast-growing Salafist group. In 2014, one of these articles exclusively revealed that the “Portsmouth Five,” a notorious group of ISIS recruits from southern England, were all members of an iERA youth group.

Up to 35 percent have returned — some with ‘specific missions’ — and 50 percent remain in the battle theatre, which amounted to between 2,000 and 2,500 Europeans.

The Real Illegal Settlements

As the international community continues to slam Israel for construction in Jewish settlement communities, Palestinians are quietly engaging in massive construction of entire neighborhoods in many parts of the West Bank and Jerusalem. In addition to overlooking the Palestinian building project, the West has clearly been neglecting a crucial difference between the two efforts: while the construction in the Jewish settlements of the West Bank and neighborhoods of Jerusalem has long been carried out within the frame of the law and in accordance with proper licenses issued by the relevant authorities, the Palestinian construction is illegal in every respect. …

The hypocrisy and raw malice of the EU and the rest of the international community toward the issue of Israeli settlements is blindingly transparent. Yet we are also witnessing the hypocrisy of many in the Western mainstream media — those dozens of correspondents who see with their own eyes the Palestinian settlements rising on every side of Jerusalem, but choose to report only about Jewish building.

Boris Johnson’s Saudi ‘Proxy Wars’ Comment ‘Not UK’s View’

Downing Street has said Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson’s comments on Saudi Arabia do not represent “the government’s position”.

Footage has emerged from an event last week at which Mr Johnson said UK ally Saudi Arabia was engaging in “proxy wars” in the Middle East.

The PM’s spokeswoman said these were the foreign secretary’s personal views.

BBC political editor Laura Kuenssberg quotes one senior MP as saying: “Boris Johnson has used up all of his lives.”

BBC diplomatic correspondent James Landale described Downing Street’s response as a “pretty robust slapdown”.

Mr Johnson’s comments were made at a conference in Rome last week but only emerged after the The Guardian newspaper published footage of the event.

Islamic State ‘Has Lost 50,000 Fighters’ Over Two Years

At least 50,000 militants from so-called Islamic State have been killed since the US-led coalition started fighting in Iraq and Syria two years ago, a US military official has said.

The senior official described the figure as a “conservative estimate”.

The figure showed air power and a small number of US figures supporting local forces were having an impact, the official said.

The US has, however, repeatedly warned that IS can replace fighters rapidly.

The official on Thursday said that coalition air strikes could be intensified in places like Mosul, which Iraqi troops are now battling to recapture, but that had to be offset against the risk of civilian casualties.

EU Chiefs Grant 50 Million Ukrainians and Georgians Visa-Free Travel to Bloc

The European Parliament and the European Council gave the thumbs up late last night to grant visa-free travel to the two countries on the edge of the bloc, ending an internal EU dispute.

Some EU leaders had felt Brussels was reneging on pledges to ex-Soviet states it has promised to help as they try to move out from Moscow’s shadow.

And European Council President Donald Tusk yesterday warned the European Union was risking its credibility by failing to reward Georgia and Ukraine for painful reforms.

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko hailed the move as “encouraging news from Brussels”.

Unemployed Fishermen in Venezuela Become Pirates, Terrorize Coastal Towns

Once home to the world’s fourth-largest tuna fleet and a thriving fishing industry, the catch in the Venezuelan state of Sucre is down to less than a third of what it produced in 2004.

That trade has collapsed, along with virtually every industry across Venezuela.

As a result, gangs of out-of-work fishermen have started to prey upon those who still venture out into the open sea, stealing their catch and their motors, tying them up, throwing them overboard, and sometimes shooting them.

The robberies have taken place daily this year, and dozens of fishermen have died.

“People can’t make a living fishing anymore, so they’re using their boats for the options that remain: smuggling gas, running drugs and piracy,” said Jose Antonio Garcia, leader of the state’s largest union, to the Associated Press.

Venezuela: Here’s What Happens When a Currency Completely Breaks Down

In Venezuela, hyperinflation has become so pitiful that shopkeepers are no longer bothering to actually count money.

Instead, they’re weighing it…

[…]as in literally pulling out a scale and weighing giant stacks of money. Do you want to buy a bottle of Coca Cola? That’ll be 1 kilo of currency please.

One shopkeeper interviewed by the Guardian newspaper said he’s piling up bricks of cash so quickly he feels like Pablo Escobar.

And yet Venezuela’s hyperinflation continues growing worse; those bricks of cash are buying less every week.

This is an important lesson.

Throughout history, human beings have used countless forms of money.

Many of the ancients used commodities like silver or salt. The feudal Japanese used rice. The island natives of Yap used enormous stone wheels.

Today we use physical pieces of paper and electronic digits in a bank account. Large financial institutions and governments use bonds.

Each of these is (or was) a form of money.

But regardless of the form, money is only credible as long as everyone agrees that it has value, i.e. there’s a large enough market size of people willing to use it.

This fundamentally comes down to trust and confidence.

But Venezuela’s example shows how quickly that very thin veneer of trust and confidence can shatter, plunging a country into chaotic hyperinflation.

How to Deport Millions of Illegal Aliens, Without Employing a Single Stormtrooper.

Sanctuary City policies encourage human trafficking of illegal aliens and whether mayors, supervisors and complicit law enforcement officers are also complicit in those crimes?

The answer to illegal aliens in this country was never to round them up and force them to leave, that’s just silly. The answer is to make it impossible for them to stay. So how do you do that. The first and most important thing is to immediately pass Representative Peter King’s bill, H.R. 140 of 2015, to revoke the misinterpretation of the so-called “birthright clause” of the 1965 Immigration and Nationality Act. That misinterpretation is responsible for every “anchor baby” wrongly granted citizenship since 1965, and for every extended family member brought in to this country that is somehow barely connected to those anchor babies. Current policy is to immediately grant U.S. citizenship to any baby born on U.S. soil, regardless of whether the mother is an illegal alien, or tourist, or visa over stay, or anyone else not a citizen or legal registered immigrant. This is insane. No other country but Canada still engages in birthright citizenship. Why? Because it is national suicide. There is no reason for it, unless you have a vested interest in illegal aliens.

Immigration Group Shielding Known Gang Members and Blocking Trump From “Deportation Database”

It seems that politics is blocking common sense, and the enforcement of immigration law yet again.

With President-elect Trump’s promise to deport criminal illegal immigrants with records involving gang activity and violence, many pro-immigrant groups are concerned that he will cast too wide of a net. So, they are attempting to block Trump from being able to gain access to the CalGang database, California’s extensive records on known gang members, many of whom are undocumented immigrants.

It seems that this group would prefer these criminals to run rampant, rather than allow Trump to curb immigration and attempt to address the blowback from unlimited migration, and in influx of crime that has followed sketchy border policy over the past several decades.

via Breitbart:

Immigration advocacy groups are asking California Attorney General Kamala Harris to “block federal access” to the database containing names of gang members in the state. […] Basically, if successful, the group would have the state to aid and abet the influx of illegal immigration, while blocking due process to remove known criminal elements from the country at the federal level and enforce the law. It is bizarre and telling of the mindset that they hold.

Trump’s appointment of Sen. Jeff Sessions has been interpreted as a signal that his administration will follow through and indeed be tough on illegal immigrants. Keep one of his key campaign promises would give a boost in his approval ratings from the base that elected him.

Meanwhile, opponents of this policy are ready for a full-scale fight over immigration. And while California is keeping its database of criminal gang members secret, the state of Texas has already estimated that more than 100,000 illegal immigrant gang members exist in the state, and have contributed to a wave of crimes that could be reduced by sending these individuals back.

Katie Hopkins: You Can Ban the Burka, Frau Merkel. But What Are You Going to Do About Banning the Migrant Boats You Encouraged to Come and Which Are Destroying Your Country?

‘Wir Schaffer das! We can do it!’

At least that was the message with which Angela ‘Mother of all Migrants’ Merkel tried to reassure the German people as she opened their country to all the world’s refugees and told them to come.

By the time 1.1 million refugees had arrived in 2015, ordinary Germans had grown so tired of playing tolerant host to the intolerant masses incapable of understanding their cultures, respecting their women or western ways, that 66% no longer agreed with Merkel’s mantra ‘we can do it’.

In fact, most were shouting ‘we don’t want to do it’.

Merkel Downplayed the CDU Decision on Dual Citizens

Conservatives voted to scrap back tougher rules

(ANSA-AP) — BERLIN — Members of German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s party voted Wednesday to scrap rules that allow the children of immigrants to be dual citizens, a move opposed by party leaders and rejected by its partners in government.

Merkel downplayed the decision. She told n-tv television “this was about a small group (of immigrants), and I don’t think we should reverse” easing the rules.

Vice Chancellor Sigmar Gabriel, a Social Democrat and likely challenger to Merkel for the top job, said his party wouldn’t agree to tougher rules. He said the vote shows that the CDU “doesn’t agree with Mrs. Merkel’s policies.” Delegates later backed a motion, backed by CDU leaders, that among other things urges making it easier to detain people ahead of deportations.

Merkel’s party leads in the polls, but would likely have to turn to one of two left-leaning rivals or a socially liberal pro-business party to form the next government. It says it won’t ally with the nationalist Alternative for Germany, which has thrived in polls by attacking Merkel’s migrant policies.

The West’s Politically Correct Dictatorship. It Has Blinded us to the Real Danger: Radical Islam

[…]Under this politically correct dictatorship, Western culture has established two principles. First, freedom of speech can be restricted any time someone claims that an opinion is an “insult.” Second, there is a vicious double standard: minorities, especially Muslims, can freely say whatever they want against Jews and Christians…

Jim Hoft, a gay journalist who is the creator of the popular Gateway Pundit blog, was suspended from YouTube. Twitter, one of the vehicles of this new intolerance, suspended the account of Milo Yiannopoulos, a prominent gay critic of Islamic fundamentalism — but probably not the accounts of Islamic fundamentalists who criticize gays. Twitter even formed a “Trust and Safety Council.” It brings to mind Saudi Arabia’s “Council for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice.” Could it be an inspiration for the liberal mullahs?

Yes, it might have looked like a golden age for free speech. But under this dictatorship of political correctness, the only “win-win” is for political Islam.
