The concrete wall will be half a mile long and thirteen feet high, and is designed to deter would-be migrants from climbing into lorries bound for Britain. Construction work on it may begin this month.

Eurozone Crisis: Greece Crisis Could Topple Brussels Project, Top Rating Agency Warns

Leading experts Fitch warned that the stricken Mediterranean country remains the biggest threat to the future of the EU despite seven years of gruelling recession and austerity imposed from Berlin and Brussels.

Athens has the highest debt and unemployment rates in the world and has become a simmering hotbed of anti-EU feeling.

From an Industrial Economy to a Paper Economy — the Stunning Decline of Manufacturing in America

Why does it seem like almost everything is made in China these days? Yesterday I was looking at some pencils that we had laying around the house and I noticed that they had been manufactured in China. I remarked to my wife that it was such a shame that they don’ t make pencils in the United States anymore. At another point during the day, I turned over my television remote and I noticed that it also had “ Made In China” engraved on it. It is still Labor Day as I write this article, and so I think that it is quite appropriate to write about our transition from an industrial economy to a paper economy today. Since the year 2000, the United States has lost five million manufacturing jobs even though our population has grown substantially since that time. Manufacturing in America is in a state of stunning decline, our economic infrastructure is being absolutely gutted, and our formerly great manufacturing cities are in an advanced state of decay. We consume far more wealth than we produce, and the only way that we are able to do this is by taking on massive amounts of debt. But is our debt-based paper economy sustainable in the long run?

Back in 1960, 24 percent of all American workers worked in manufacturing. Today, that number has shriveled all the way down to just 8 percent. CNN is calling it “ the Great Shift” …

In 1960, about one in four American workers had a job in manufacturing. Today fewer than one in 10 are employed in the sector, according to government data.

Call it the Great Shift. Workers transitioned from the fields to the factories. Now they are moving from factories to service counters and health care centers. The fastest growing jobs in America now are nurses, personal care aides, cooks, waiters, retail salespersons and operations managers.

No wonder the middle class is shrinking so rapidly. There aren’ t too many cooks, waiters or retail salespersons that can support a middle class family.

Since the turn of the century, we have lost more than 50,000 manufacturing facilities. Meanwhile, tens of thousands of gleaming new factories have been erected in places like China.

Does anyone else see something wrong with this picture?

Global Recession? The Canadian Economy Shrinks at the Fastest Pace Since the Last Financial Crisis

Things have not been this bad for the Canadian economy since the last global recession. During the second quarter of 2016, Canada’s GDP contracted at a 1.6 percent annualized rate. That was the worst number in seven years, and it was even worse than most analysts were projecting. This comes at a time when bad news is pouring in from all corners of the global economy. While things in the United States are still relatively stable for the moment, the same cannot be said for much of the rest of the planet. Canada in particular has been hit very hard by the collapse in oil prices, and the massive wildfire in northern Alberta back in May certainly did not help things. The following comes from the BBC…

The recent drop in GDP was larger than analysts had projected, but not far off the predicted 1.5% loss.

“[The figure] could have been worse, given the hit from the wildfire, and clearly confirms the disappointing downward trend in exports over the last few months,” said Sal Guatieri, senior economist at BMO Capital Markets.

In May, wildfires devastated the parts of northern Alberta where much of Canada’s oil and natural gas is produced.

For many years, high oil prices and booming exports enabled the Canadian economy to significantly outperform the U.S. economy. But now conditions have changed dramatically, and all of the economic bubbles up in Canada are starting to burst. This includes the housing bubble, as we have seen home sales in the hottest markets such as Vancouver drop through the floor late in the summer. In fact, it is being reported that home sales during the first two weeks of August in British Columbia were down a whopping 51 percent on a year over year basis.

Do you remember the housing bubble in the U.S. that helped fuel the last financial crisis? Well, a very similar bubble is now bursting up in Canada, and some investors have positioned themselves to make a tremendous amount of money when the whole thing comes violently crashing down. The following comes from Wolf Richter…

“Shut it Down!”: Reuters Orders Cameraman to Kill Positive Trump Footage

Shock example of media censorship caught on tape

UPDATE: Reuters blames “third party” for shut down.

“The Detroit Trump footage being circulated on Twitter and elsewhere was not filmed by Reuters. Reuters obtained the footage from third-party providers and the voices heard on the video are not Reuters staff or contractors.”

A shock example of anti-Trump media censorship was caught on tape when Reuters ordered its cameraman to cut live footage of Trump receiving praise from African-American Bishop Wayne T. Jackson in Detroit.

The incident occurred as Jackson presented Trump with a shawl, a bible, and offered his prayers as the black audience cheered and clapped.

Perhaps aware of the devastating impact the optics of this moment would have on the media’s efforts to demonize Trump as a racist bigot, a voice is heard off-camera saying, “He’s getting a shawl!”

The cameraman then says, “I’m shooting this, I don’t care what they say…I’ll take a demotion for this… you?”

“Shut it down,” insists the director,” followed by another voice asking, “Shut this down?”

“Yes Michael, do it,” orders the director.

We then hear the word “blackout” and the camera shakes before the live feed is cut.

“Reuters was primary video feed for the event, all other video delivery services were coming from the Reuters feed. When Reuters shut down, all other outlets lost the broadcast,” reports the Conservative Treehouse.

After Hillary Health Comments, Dr. Drew Received Nasty Calls and E-Mails: “Downright Scary and Creepy”

Eight days after Board-certified medicine specialist and TV personality Dr. Drew Pinsky expressed his grave concern over Hillary Clinton’s health and the healthcare she was receiving, his popular show on HLN, the sister channel of CNN, was cancelled.

Appearing on KABC’s McIntyre in the Morning, Pinsky said he and his colleague Dr. Robert Huizenga became “gravely concerned…not just about her health but her health care” after analyzing what medical records on Hillary had been released.

Pinsky pointed out that after Clinton fainted and fell in late 2012, she suffered from a “transverse sinus thrombosis,” an “exceedingly rare clot” that “virtually guarantees somebody has something wrong with their coagulation system.”

According to sources close to Pinsky, the medicine specialist had been asked to retract his statements on the democratic nominee’s health and also received a series of nasty phone calls and e-mails over the his comments.

“CNN is so supportive of Clinton, network honchos acted like the Mafia when confronting Drew,” a source told Richard Johnson of Page Six. “First, they demanded he retract his comments, but he wouldn’t.”

What followed, according to a source close to Pinsky, was a series of nasty phone calls and e-mails which were described as “downright scary and creepy.”

The number of shooting victims has topped 2,930, approaching the 2,988 total for all of last year, according to a Tribune analysis.

Conservative Icon Phyllis Schlafly Dead at 92

An icon of human liberty.

Phyllis Schlafly, the leading pioneer of America’s conservative movement, has died at the age of 92.

“She is and was an icon of human liberty,” said Alex Jones. “Without trailblazers like her we would have no chance against the forces of tyranny.”

Schlafly, a formidable pro-family grassroots organizer who was politically active for 70 years, founded the conservative Eagle Forum in 1972 and served as president since then, overseeing the organization’s rise to 80,000 members today.

“Her focus from her earliest days until her final ones was protecting the family, which she understood as the building block of life,” the Eagle Forum said in a statement. “She recognized America as the greatest political embodiment of those values.”

“From military superiority and defense to immigration and trade; from unborn life to the nuclear family and parenthood, Phyllis Schlafly was a courageous and articulate voice for common sense and traditional values.”

[Comment: A true hero of the people. Her passing is a great loss to the USA and the world and her keen insight will be sorely missed.]

Does Hillary Clinton Have Parkinson’s Disease?

Could it be possible that Hillary Clinton is covering up a major illness that would make her unfit to serve as president? It has been my contention for a long time that Hillary Clinton would do or say just about anything in order to become “ the first woman president” , but would she actually lie to the American people about her health in order to reach that “ historic achievement” ? In recent days the Clinton campaign has assured us over and over again about how healthy Hillary is, and she even opened up a jar of pickles for Jimmy Kimmel in order to prove how vigorous she is at her age. But we can all see that she has some very serious health problems. I have written about this previously right here and right here, but as time has gone by things have started to become a lot clearer. There are many that now believe that Hillary Clinton actually has Parkinson’ s Disease, and I have to admit that I agree with them.

On Labor Day, Clinton had another of her epic coughing fits, and this time it happened during an election rally in Cleveland that was being broadcast nationwide. She attempted to laugh it off by making jokes such as “ every time I think about Trump I get allergic” , but nothing could hide the fact that something was seriously wrong with her as the coughing fit went on for nearly four minutes…

Die, Fat Guy! Brits’ Policy is Future of ObamaCare

You may say that Obamacare is not single-payer and not government-run, and you’ d be mostly correct — not yet. But Obama has already begun floating the idea of a “public option” to compete with exchanges in certain areas of the country. This will simply be the next step to the vision of top-down single-payer health care. If nothing changes — it is inevitable.

But many have asked — how bad would that really be? At least everyone would be covered — no more fighting with insurance carriers — a one stop shop, as it were. Sounds great, doesn’t it?

If we want to know just how great it will be, we don’t have to imagine — we merely have to look at nations further along the socialized medicine track than we are — say, Great Britain. They have a rock-solid, fully socialized health-care system. So, how’s it doing?

Well, it turns out that all is not so rosy in jolly ole England, as just a few days ago the Daily Mail reported that, “Obese patients and smokers are to be barred from nearly ALL operations in ‘the most severe policy the modern NHS [National Health Service] has ever seen.’“

Yes, you read it correctly. Smokers and those with a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 30 or more will no longer be allowed to have routine operations. Government funding cuts are to blame for these new surgery dictates.

However, a government spokesman said, “A number of considerations are taken by health services outside of costs when considering the decision to operate,” and that, “Cancer patients and those with conditions which could become life-threatening will not be included, and surgery will not be postponed if exceptional circumstances can be shown.”

Sturgeon’s Independence Bid Hit by ‘Snooping’ Row: SNP Accused of Breaking Data Rules

NICOLA Sturgeon’s new drive to break up Britain was plunged into chaos yesterday amid a privacy row.

The First Minister put the SNP on an independence war footing by mobilising tens of thousands of activists in a “conversation” on independence.

She unveiled plans to contact two million people by St Andrew’s Day as she aims to win over a sceptical public barely two years since Scots rejected separation.

But within hours of the three-month campaign blitz’s launch, party chiefs were accused of trawling for voters’ personal details “under false pretences”.

Experts warned her online “National Survey” could fall foul of privacy rules designed to protect the public from data misuse.

The Lesson for U.S. In Fall of Brazil Regime

Americans have their hands full with a presidential election, societal strife, terrorism, a bad economy, corruption in government and political parties that seem tone deaf.

So why should we care what just happened in Brazil?

Because the impeachment of the nation’s first woman president, Dilma Rousseff, reveals some striking parallels between conditions in Brazil and what’s been happening in the states. It may even provide a glimpse of where the U.S. is headed should Hillary Clinton win the presidency.

First off, the Brazilian Senate voted 61 to 20 to convict Ms. Rousseff on charges of manipulating the federal budget in an effort to conceal the nation’s mounting economic problems. More to the point, the central charge was that she employed budgetary tricks to conceal gaping deficits.

Sound familiar? That’s exactly what Barack Obama has been doing for the last eight years.

I would suggest to you that the political downfall of Rousseff’s leftist Workers Party occurred because Brazil is about five years further down the road of socialist chickens coming home to roost.

Conservative Party of Canada Has No Problem With Immigrants Who Hate US

The hell with the conservative base, Rona. Keep on pandering to special interest groups

Interim CPC leader Rona Ambrose went on CTV over the weekend and said she disagreed newcomers to Canada should be screened for anti-Canadian values. According to Ambrose, potential immigrants to Canada already go through criminal background checks and that should be sufficient.

I’m going to put this in real simple language that even Ambrose can understand. Criminal background checks have nothing to do with holding anti-Canadian values. When Leitch speaks of anti-Canadian values she means such things as holding views that women are second-class citizens and the hatred of Jews, Christians, gays and lesbians. According to Ambrose and her ilk, people who hold these values are welcome to come to Canada and eventually become citizens.

Let’s take an example of a Muslim immigrant from Saudi Arabia. As his wife was never allowed to go out of the house without being accompanied by a male relative and was prohibited from driving, he imposes the same restrictions on her after they arrive in Canada. These things are not crimes in Saudi Arabia so they won’t obviously show up in any criminal record check. In fact the wife would be subject to sanctions in the kingdom if she did venture out alone or drive a car. Ditto for hatred of other religions and sexual orientations. But bringing these views to Canada is just peachy keen with the interim leader of the CPC as long as the immigrant passes a criminal background check which of course he will.

None of these anti-Canadian values constitute crimes in the immigrant’s country of origin.

Germany: Merkel’s Party Suffers Defeat Amid Anti-Migrant Backlash

Anti-migrant backlash rising in Germany

German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s conservative Christian Democrats (CDU) party fell to third place in a state election on Sunday behind the anti-immigrant Alternative for Germany (AfD) party.

In a sobering defeat for Merkel in her home district of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, a year ahead of federal elections, the rising AfD party won 21.4 percent of the vote in their first election by campaigning fiercely against Merkel’s floundering refugee policy.

“This isn’t pretty for us,” said Michael Grosse-Groehmer, a top deputy to Merkel in Berlin’s parliament. “Those who voted for the AfD were sending a message of protest.”

The election took place precisely a year after Merkel’s decision to open Germany’s borders to over a million refugees, and consequently at a time where public dissatisfaction of her policies are at an all-time high.

“This is a slap in the face for Merkel — not only in Berlin but also in her home state,” said Frauke Petry, co-leader of the AfD. “The voters made a clear statement against Merkel’s disastrous immigration policies. This put her in her place.”

“Now it is our responsibility to make politics for the people. The people no longer trust the old establishment parties to do so,” he added.

The results have shocked Merkel’s party.

Leaked Documents: Soros Group Spent $600k to Mainstream Pro-Refugee Attitudes

Money needed over loss of sympathy for refugees.

Leaked documents from left-wing financier George Soros’s Open Society Foundations continue to reveal the extent to which the group has influenced the political response to Europe’s refugee crisis. Internal documents show OSF used $600,000 in reserve funding in March 2016 to bring pro-refugee positions into the “political mainstream.”

Jordi Vaquer, OSF’s regional director for Europe, approved a $600,000 proposal entitled, “Countering the anti-migrant rhetoric and toxic narratives surrounding migration in Europe.”

According to OSF documents, half of the $600,000 would go towards lobbying efforts. All $600,000 came from OSF’s “Europe Reserve Fund.”

A summary of the proposal notes that “the proposed reserve fund allocation will allow for additional resources to be allocated towards countering xenophobic attitudes in Europe, move parts of the political mainstream towards more pro-refugee positions, and build constituencies around a more progressive approach to migration and asylum.”

These people have nothing to offer, illiterate thugs with the deluded self entitled belief that “they want to go to England”
      Excuses their “desperate” behaviour.

Sorry France but they are your problem, they have travelled from some safe countries and across many safe European countries to get to Calais so it has nothing whatsoever to do with Asylum! Sort them out, no (conveniently) paperwork then select a country for them, unaccompanied minor ( with a beard) CHECK his age, If he is being untruthful (there are
40 year old “children in Swedish Asylum Centres) then get rid!

What would happen if thousands of Europeans lay siege to an Arabic or North African Country in this manner? I would submit that the body count would be horrendous!

        • May I discreetly ask, what backlash?
          I don’t see any–anywhere in the west.

Where are the millions in the streets, mosques being blown up and the enemy being deported?
          Nowhere.

    • A half mile long wall – so the most you’d have to walk is a quarter mile before you come to the end of it! Yeah that’s commitment to deterring the invader.

  5. As Trump says “build the wall.”
Seems the world is following his lead and he isn’t even president yet.

  6. This is allegedly, a quote from Chancellor Merkel:
“I am quite sure that if we resist this and stick to the truth, then we will win,” she said. “And that way we will win back the most important thing that we need — the trust of the people.”
Well, this is a change, she promised to stick to the truth!!! for heaven sake… and she admitted to lose the trust of the people, perhaps because the people are not that stupid and realize that she was not telling the truth until now.

    • Readers may be familiar with the German-born, British Labour MP Gisela Stewart. She recently supported Brexit.

Some years ago, I heard her on the radio, stating that it is a German characteristic, having once embarked on a course of action, not to revisit the decision. I don’t recall whether she had Merkel in mind.

      • When I was young, there was a crime called ‘Beamtenbeleidigung’ for which you could be punished. I don’t know if it still exists. It means ‘insulting an official’. Perhaps GDR had the same – I’d doubt whether people there dared ‘insult’ officials.

So people at least of her generation expect, once they’re officials to be respected whatever bad decisions they make. And that criticism is an insult.

Remind you of any other ideology?

      • Let me quote one of my favorite Hungarian journalist, Zsolt Bayor (he has German ancestors) (his previous article here: https://gatesofvienna.net/2016/08/keep-your-distance-from-the-hyenas/) as he said:
“The Germans could not do anything with a half heart. They were full on Nazis when the time dictated, then they could not help themselves to be the best possible Communists. Now they are best possible importers of refugees and they execute the most efficient cultural suicide.”

  7. The times have changed and I imagine in time will produce the appropriate levels of leadership to get the job done.

  8. Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte called Barack Obama a “son of a whore”

Now a question from the bad old days: how long would it take for a squadron of American battle ships to appear in Manila Bay, had the president been Teddy Roosevelt?

To put it in perspective of our times: how long would it take for a similar reaction to happen had he referred to the top Chinese guy?
