Deutsche Bank Crisis Threatens to Roil Global Markets

Europe’s problems with some of its largest financial institutions could spill over into the rest of the global market.

Deutsche Bank’s shares tumbled on Thursday on a report that a group of hedge funds were reducing their exposure to the giant financial institution

ECB “Refused to Answer Questions” — “Systemic Threat” of Deutsche is “Not ECB Fault”

The potential collapse of Deutsche Bank and the systemic risk it poses to banks and the European financial and monetary system moved into the German political sphere yesterday. The German government denied it was preparing a rescue of the embattled bank and the Bundestag attempted to ask questions of ECB President Mario Draghi about the causes of the “systemic risks” posed by the bank.

The ECB president brazenly “refused to answer questions” regarding Deutsche Bank during a closed-door meeting in the German parliament. Afterwords in conversation with journalists, he denied that the negative interest rates being imposed by the ECB are partly responsible for Deutsche Bank and the German financial system’s troubles.

However, many analysts rightly assert that zero interest rate policies (ZIRP) and now negative interest rate policies (NIRP) are a factor and partly contributing to the challenges facing banks in much of the western world. Not to mention causing bubbles in many property markets and indeed in stock and bond markets.

Pain Spreads to Germany’s Second Biggest Bank: Commerzbank Scraps Dividend, Fires 20% of Workforce

With Deutsche Bank mercifully missing from overnight headlines for the first day in almost two weeks, it is time to bring attention to Germany’s second largest bank which, as we first reported earlier in the week citing a Handelsblatt leak, confirmed it is also going through a historic rough patch. This morning, Commerzbank said it plans a wide-ranging business restructuring that includes scrapping the bank’s dividend for the rest of the year, terminating nearly 10,000 jobs — roughly 20% of its workforce — and merging two large units.

“The focus on the core business, with some business activities being discontinued, and the digitalization and automation of workflows will lead to staff reductions amounting to around 9,600 full-time positions,” Germany’s second-largest lender said.

Who Owns the Federal Reserve?

The Fed is privately owned. Its shareholders are private banks

“Some people think that the Federal Reserve Banks are United States Government institutions. They are private monopolies which prey upon the people of these United States for the benefit of themselves and their foreign customers; foreign and domestic speculators and swindlers; and rich and predatory money lenders.” — The Honorable Louis McFadden, Chairman of the House Banking and Currency Committee in the 1930s

The Federal Reserve (or Fed) has assumed sweeping new powers in the last year. In an unprecedented move in March 2008, the New York Fed advanced the funds for JPMorgan Chase Bank to buy investment bank Bear Stearns for pennies on the dollar. The deal was particularly controversial because Jamie Dimon, CEO of JPMorgan, sits on the board of the New York Fed and participated in the secret weekend negotiations.1 In September 2008, the Federal Reserve did something even more unprecedented, when it bought the world’s largest insurance company. The Fed announced on September 16 that it was giving an $85 billion loan to American International Group (AIG) for a nearly 80% stake in the mega-insurer. The Associated Press called it a “government takeover,” but this was no ordinary nationalization. Unlike the U.S. Treasury, which took over Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac the week before, the Fed is not a government-owned agency. Also unprecedented was the way the deal was funded. The Associated Press reported:…

Female Student Attacked for Wearing Trump Hat on Campus

“No one deserves to feel unsafe for wearing a Trump hat, so it’s sad that it has to come to this.”

A female member of the Gustavus College Republicans was assaulted by a male student for wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat shortly before Monday night’s debate.

The incident took place on campus, right before the first presidential debate began, according to a press release put out by the Minnesota College Republicans.

The victim of the assault has chosen to remain anonymous, saying that she feels unsafe and threatened, and has even resorted to asking campus security to escort her around the college. While the perpetrator of the assault has not been publicly identified, he is reportedly a male student at Gustavus College.

How Reuters “Tweaked” Its Latest Poll (Again) To Show a Clinton Lead

Reuters has taken some heat in recent months for “tweaking” their polling methodology seemingly every time the data reveals “inconvenient” results for Hillary (see our previous posts on the topic here and here). But the latest Reuters/Ipsos polling “tweak” is truly amazing. Having run out of options for slyly “tweaking” questions and categories to sway respondents in their preferred direction, Reuters has apparnetly resorted to blatant poll tampering by altering their polling samples to include a disproportionate number of democrats.

In their latest poll, released just two days ago, Reuters found Hillary to have a 6 point lead in a head-to-head contest with Trump. But, when you dig a little deeper you find that Reuters’ polling sample included 44% democrats and only 33% republicans. Which would be fine, of course, if it had any basis in reality. But, as The Pew Research Center points out very clearly (see table below), registered democrats represent about 33% of the electorate while republicans are 29%…a modest 4 point gap versus the 11 point advantage in the Reuters sample.

Internet No Longer Under U.S. Control by Saturday

Worse case scenario: When you awaken to face another new day in tumultuous times this Saturday, the Information Highway as we knew it will no longer be at your service.

With computers being all but useless without being hooked up to the Internet, set back by decades, your fingers will someday soon move over the keys of an expensive desk top computer, now essentially turned into a modern day typewriter.

On his way out of the door Barack Obama will have wholly ceded over control of the Internet to UNIDO, (United Nations Industrial Development Organization).

When it is far too late for anyone to do anything about it, history will someday record that Barack Hussein Obama hijacked public access to the Internet before leaving office.

Why he decided to hand over control of the Internet, to an unknown conglomerate of “international stakeholders-held by the United States for all 18 years of ICANN existence-five weeks before Election 2016, remains a dark-sided riddle.

Obama, Hillary Clinton, the global elite and big governments at home and abroad will be able to surf the ‘Net as usual and will be able to retain their IPs, but the masses will be left on the outside looking in.

Ditto for Internet giants like Amazon and Google and others who were getting ahead of the curve four years before the hand-off.

Luis Gutierrez is One of Many “ Security Risk” Congressmen and Senators Exposed in Trevor Loudon’ S New Documentary: The Enemies Within.

Luis Gutierrez represents the 4th district of Illinois in the US House of Representatives. He is a member of the House Judiciary Committee and until recently served on the House Intelligence Committee, which oversees all of America’ s 16 intelligence gathering organizations.

Gutierrez is also a member of the pro-socialist Congressional Progressive Caucus and the Cuban-tied Congressional Hispanic Caucus.

Only the fact that there are no security checks to serve on any House committee enables Gutierrez to hold any responsible position in the US government.

Luis Gutierrez was born in Chicago, Illinois, on December 10, 1953 and later moved to Puerto Rico, his parent’ s birthplace, before returning to Chicago to attend college. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Northeastern Illinois University in 1975 and then worked as a teacher, cab driver, “ community activist” and a social worker for ten years.

1980’ s Chicago mayor Harold Washington’ s electoral coalition included many members of the pro-Cuba, Marxist-Leninist, Puerto Rican Socialist Party. Luis Gutierrez, who became a Chicago Alderman under Washington, was a leader of the Puerto Rican Socialist Party and was able to secure government funds for the PSP-sponsored cultural center and for Party-sponsored “ social services.”

Obama’s Reckless Plan Threatens U.S. Oversight of Internet

The Obama administration is poised to surrender control of certain Internet functions to non-profit ICANN, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, on October 1. According to Americans for Limited Government’s senior editor Robert Romano, opposition to this Internet giveaway has united Republicans such as Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) and presidential candidate Donald Trump. But questions remain as to whether or not the Republicans will unite sufficiently to insist language is included in a continuing resolution that will forbid the transfer of control.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) actually stripped out this language from the continuing resolution, and a vote to end debate on the current language, which does not fix the ICANN issue, failed on September 27. This is the latest Obama administration scandal, one that threatens the integrity of the Internet. President Obama is seeking to cede oversight of Internet protocols to a multinational body, effectively ending unilateral American control over these functions.

Romano writes that this is the “Last chance to save the free and open Internet.”

One Dead, Over 100 Injured After NJ Transit Train Hits Hoboken Station

More than 100 people were injured — many critically — when a train crashed into Hoboken terminal at this morning, according to a spokesman for NJ Transit.

At least one died, a woman standing on the platform, according to NBC4 NewYork.

The crash caused chaos inside the train and the station, eyewitnesses said. Blaine pulled some people out of the window before police officers moved him out of their way. The roof over the platform collapsed, bringing rain water and live electrical wires into contact with the train and frustrating efforts to rescue people, said William Blaine, a passenger who is a train engineer for Norfolk Southern railroad.

The train had about 250 passengers and crew members onboard at the time, said Jennifer Nelson, the NJ Transit spokeswoman. It had just traveled the Pascack Valley line, which originates in Spring Valley,New York, and passes through the heart of Bergen County. Hoboken is the last stop on the line.

The crash caused heavy structural damage to the terminal, Nelson said. Heavy steel beams that support the roof collapsed on to the train and platform, according to videos and photos from the scene. The station is now closed to the public and all NJ Transit train and bus service, PATH trains into and out of Hoboken, and NY Waterway ferries have been cancelled.

The cause of the accident remained unknown Thursday morning. The FBI announced it was monitoring the situation but not responding directly, indicating that agency officials believe it was likely not a deliberate act of terrorism.

Trump Turns Away 12,000 at Florida Rally

Hillary Clinton on the other hand had barely 400 people at her rally Tuesday in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Since August 1st when both parties’ conventions concluded, Trump has had more than 312,000 people at his events with thousands turned away due to space limitations. Turkish-Born Cascade Mall Shooter Facing Voter Fraud Charge as Wa Law Prohibits “Verifying Citizenship”

Last week we wrote about a mass shooting at the Cascade Mall in Burlington, Washington about 65 miles north of Seattle that left 5 people dead (see “Five Killed At Washington State Mall; Manhunt For Gunman Continues”). The shooter fled the scene but was later captured and identified to be 20 year old Arcan Cetin a “legal, permanent resident” of the United States who immigrated from Turkey.

As it turns out, Cetin may be facing more charges than just 5 counts of murder as NBC News is reporting that investigators have discovered he voted in the past three election cycles, including the May presidential primary, despite the fact that he is not a U.S. citizen. Apparently the state of Washington frowns upon anyone other than U.S. citizens voting…that kind of behavior is only tolerated in swing states like Ohio and Florida.

What the “Deplorables” Must Accomplish in the Next Decade to Rebuild America

In my last article, “The Deplorables — Who We Are And What We Want,” I examined the basic philosophies that define what I call the liberty movement; the same group of Americans that Hillary Clinton admonishes as part of her “basket of deplorables.”

It is important to recognize that only foolish progressives actually take Clinton’s claims at face value. Clinton seeks to characterize a large subset of conservatives as narrow minded when she mentions the “deplorables.” But, it is how she defines “narrow minded” that is the crux of the thing.

When people like her talk about “racists,” they are referring to conservatives who want a secure southern border. When they talk about “Islamaphobes,” they are referring to people who want to stop Islamic refugees from being bused into the country without being vetted or philosophically and morally acclimated to our way of life. When they talk about sexists, they are usually referring to all males in general, because remember, social justice warriors (SJWs) claim that we are “subconsciously sexist,” even if we think we are fair to women. When they talk about homophobes, they are referring to Christian bakers who do not want to participate in services for gay weddings despite the fact that they should be perfectly free to refuse association with anyone at any time for any reason.

What Clinton and social justice lunatics are really referring to when they use these attacks are those people who want to be free to think and do as they see fit as long as they are not violating the constitutional rights of others. No one in Hillary’s basket is actually narrow minded, but she and her cronies pigeonhole them as narrow minded anyway.

Clinton is not actually worried about real racists, or real sexists or real homophobes. What she and the establishment are worried about are true conservatives, because our principles are not built on hate; they are built on reason and truth. It’s easy to defeat a movement driven by hate; it’s next to impossible to defeat a movement driven by truth.

Belgium to Expand Targeted Security Measures in Brussels

Belgian authorities plan to expand their intensified law-enforcement efforts beyond Molenbeek, the Brussels neighborhood that was home to several suicide bombers, said officials, who also publicly detailed steps taken in recent months to curb terror threats.

The “Canal Plan”—so called because a canal separates Molenbeek from the center of Brussels—was implemented in February after the November terrorist attacks in Paris revealed that several of the Islamic State fighters had grown up in the Brussels neighborhood. Some left for Syria and came back undetected by using fake documents provided by friends who stayed in Molenbeek.

The Canal Plan was gradually rolled out just weeks before the March Brussels bombings, which killed 32 people.

As part of the plan, an additional 50 police officers were deployed in Molenbeek and a joint task force focusing on suspected foreign fighters was established, officials said on Thursday. The task force has been examining whether the suspects receive welfare benefits and what links they may have to criminal networks supplying weapons and false documents.

Facebook Must Ban Abusive Content, Says German Justice Minister Maas

UK: 19th-Century Pub Unearthed in Manchester

MANCHESTER, ENGLAND—The Manchester Evening News reports that an excavation ahead of a construction project in the city center has uncovered the remains of a 200-year-old pub and several houses. Artifacts from the site include unopened bottles of brandy and crockery personalized with the name of Thomas Evans, owner of the Astley Arms pub in 1821.

“It’s brilliant because you can suddenly connect it to the local people in the area,” said senior archaeologist Aidan Turner. “We looked online about his family history and one of his descendants now lives in Texas.” The team also recovered keys, pots for quills, and pipes. The pub was renamed the Paganini Tavern in 1840, when it was owned by Thomas Inglesent, but the property reverted to the Astley Arms by the 1850s. The pub remained open until 1928.

After Islamic State, Fears of a ‘Shiite Crescent’ In Mideast

From the point of view of Sunni Arab regimes anxious about Iran’s regional ambitions, Islamic State—as repellent as it is—provides a silver lining. The extremist group’s firewall blocks territorial contiguity between Iran and its Arab proxies in Syria and Lebanon.

This means that now, as Islamic State is losing more and more land to Iranian allies, these Sunni countries—particularly Saudi Arabia—face a potentially more dangerous challenge: a land corridor from Tehran to Beirut that would reinforce a more capable and no less implacable enemy.

Pro-Iranian Shiite militias such as Lebanon’s Hezbollah and Iraq’s Badr and Asaib Ahl al-Haq are filling the void left by Islamic State in Syria and Iraq, and they are much better equipped and trained than the Sunni extremist group. They are also just as hostile to the Saudi regime, openly talking about dismantling the kingdom and freeing Islam’s holy places from the House of Saud.

That rhetoric only intensified after January’s breakup in diplomatic ties between Riyadh and Tehran.

America in Syria: How to Build a Terror-State

In Syria, the United States has engineered and perpetuated a proxy war against the government in Damascus and its Russian and Iranian allies beginning in 2011. Before even the armed conflict began in 2011, the United States admittedly poured resources into opposition groups including the Muslim Brotherhood to prepare the ground for violent subversion. In 2007, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Seymour Hersh would write in his 9-page report, “The Redirection: Is the Administration’s new policy benefitting our enemies in the war on terrorism?” that:

To undermine Iran, which is predominantly Shiite, the Bush Administration has decided, in effect, to reconfigure its priorities in the Middle East. In Lebanon, the Administration has co-operated with Saudi Arabia’s government, which is Sunni, in clandestine operations that are intended to weaken Hezbollah, the Shiite organization that is backed by Iran. The U.S. has also taken part in clandestine operations aimed at Iran and its ally Syria. A by-product of these activities has been the bolstering of Sunni extremist groups that espouse a militant vision of Islam and are hostile to America and sympathetic to Al Qaeda.

Hersh’s now prophetic report would also reveal US support for the Muslim Brotherhood:

There is evidence that the Administration’s redirection strategy has already benefitted the Brotherhood. The Syrian National Salvation Front is a coalition of opposition groups whose principal members are a faction led by Abdul Halim Khaddam, a former Syrian Vice-President who defected in 2005, and the Brotherhood. A former high-ranking C.I.A. officer told me, “The Americans have provided both political and financial support. The Saudis are taking the lead with financial support, but there is American involvement.”

The US, through backing a large, alternative political front, was already well on its way in 2007 toward creating a parallel state within Syria to eventually undermine and overthrow before eventually absorbing the Syrian nation.

As hostilities began, the US augmented its proxy political party with both opposition media fronts and armed militant groups — essentially the creation of mass media and an army for its growing parallel terror state.

The New York Times in 2013 would admit in an article titled, “Arms Airlift to Syria Rebels Expands, With Aid From C.I.A.,” that:

With help from the C.I.A., Arab governments and Turkey have sharply increased their military aid to Syria’s opposition fighters in recent months, expanding a secret airlift of arms and equipment for the uprising against President Bashar al-Assad, according to air traffic data, interviews with officials in several countries and the accounts of rebel commanders…

In reality, the “White Helmets” operate solely in terrorist-held territory, as the nation of Syria already has an effective, professional, and well organized civil defense organization. The “White Helmets” appear to be “targeted intentionally” because they are operating side-by-side designated terrorist organizations including Al Nusra, quite literally Al Qaeda in Syria.

In one graphic instance (GRAPHIC VIDEO), these “White Helmet” Al Qaeda auxiliaries can be seen literally standing by as Al Nusra terrorists execute a prisoner, before rushing in to remove the body. Had Syrian or Russian warplanes struck these terrorists in the midst of carrying out war crimes, these “White Helmets” would have rightfully been liquidated side-by-side the terrorists they were aiding and abetting.

Kashmir Attack: India ‘Launches Strikes Against Militants’

India’s army says it has carried out “surgical strikes” against suspected militants along the de-facto border with Pakistan in Kashmir.

The operation was aimed at preventing attacks being planned by Pakistan-based militants, a senior army official said.

He said “significant casualties have been caused to the terrorists and those who are trying to support them”.

Pakistan denies India carried out any strikes and says two of its soldiers were killed in cross-border shelling.

A territorial dispute between the two countries over Muslim-majority Kashmir has been running for decades, but tensions flared earlier this month after a militant attack on an Indian army base in Kashmir left 18 soldiers dead.

China Accuses Japan of ‘Playing With Fire’ In South China Sea

China’s Defense Ministry has warned Japan against stepping up military maneuvers in the South China Sea. Tensions in the region are escalating as US allies seek to counter Beijing’s influence.

China asserts its sovereignty over most if not all of the South China Sea and rejects claims to the territory by other countries in the region. Meanwhile, relations between Beijing and Tokyo have been overshadowed by the legacy of World War II, during which Japan brutally occupied much of China.

The defense minister’s comments also came shortly after Japan scrambled Chinese fighter jets that passed over a disputed part of the South China Sea near Japan’s coast.

Following the incident, Japan’s Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga warned China that it should stop expanding its military activities to the skies.

Cyber Warfare: Who is China Hacking Now?

In the dark world of cyber-espionage, the finger of blame has often been pointed at China.

Earlier this year, China’s cyber spies were accused of hacking into dozens of workstations and servers at the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp.

Last year, Chinese hacking was blamed for the massive data breach at the US Office of Personnel Management which compromised the data of over 21 million people.

And in May 2014, US federal prosecutors indicted members of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) for cyber-espionage for economic gain.

China has all along denied the allegations of state-sponsored hacking. But analysts say China’s cyber operations are an active threat.

Philippines’ President to Scrap War Games With US Because They Anger China

Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte said joint military exercises of Filipino and American troops next week will be the last such drills, although his foreign secretary quickly said the decision was not final.

Duterte made the comments while addressing Filipino community members in Hanoi late Wednesday night, noting that the Philippines will maintain its military alliance with the U.S. because they share a 65-year-old mutual defense treaty.

During a two-day visit to Vietnam, Duterte said he wants to establish new trade and commercial alliances with China and Russia, and that Beijing doesn’t want the war games.

“I would serve notice to you now that this will be the last military exercise,” he said. “Jointly, Philippines-U.S., the last one.”

Let’s Lock the Door to Islam

by Geert Wilders

Yesterday, I visited Maassluis. It is a town near Rotterdam, where the indigenous Dutch inhabitants have become the victims of immigrant youths of Moroccan descent.

Cars have been demolished, houses vandalized, people threatened. The Dutch no longer feel free and safe in their own city. When the local radio station interviewed some of the victims and referred to the perpetrators as Moroccans, it received an anonymous letter: “You are racists! Your time will come! I won’t take care of it because I am too old. But our boys are the new soldiers.”

Trumping Islamic Terrorism

The Obama Administration has made America a wide open target for would-be terrorists. This Administration’s essentially open border policy combined with its flaccid military response to terror, its embrace of the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism, Iran, and its unwillingness to identify and declare war against the true enemy, radical Islamic terrorism, has created an environment hospitable to the growth of radical Islam and to radical Islamists murder of Americans. Hillary Clinton offers no stark break with that shameful past. Indeed, she condoned the very policies responsible for America’s decline while serving as Secretary of State. Throughout the campaign, she has wooed the far left wing of her party and select minorities on promises to maintain the very Obama Administration policies responsible for making America vulnerable to terrorist attacks.

Donald Trump remains the only candidate committed to a dramatic break with Obama appeasement with radical Islam and its principal state sponsor, Iran. Trump would reinvigorate the military, using all necessary force to eradicate radical Islamic terrorists around the world, would secure the borders and would severely limit immigration into the United States from those countries from which radical Islamic terrorists hail. He means to ramp up the intelligence and military campaigns against radical Islamic terror by ferreting out and destroying radical Islamists wherever they may be.

The recent terrorist incidents in New York and New Jersey make apparent just how vulnerable we are under the current Administration.

Professor Makes Headlines by Standing Up for Freedom

TORONTO — As part of an hour-long YouTube lecture on political correctness, University of Toronto professor and clinical psychologist Jordan Peterson is objecting to the Trudeau government’s Bill C-16, which proposes to outlaw harassment and discrimination based on gender identity and gender expression under the Canadian Human Rights Act and the Criminal Code.

Peterson, a white male in his mid 50s, also decries what he claims are attempts by the university to transform its human resources department into “a politically correct institution.”…

In his video, Peterson blames the legislation on the overrepresentation of “social justice warrior-type activists” in government, and “because our current Premier (Kathleen Wynne) is lesbian in her sexual preference.” He goes on to claim the LGBTI community “has become extraordinarily good at organizing themselves and has a fairly pronounced and very, very sophisticated radical fringe.”

Peterson, who is an expert on personality and the psychology of religion, joined the University of Toronto in 1998. Prior to that he taught at Harvard University.
