Gates of Vienna News Feed 6/9/2016

Students at Yale have submitted a petition to the university administration demanding that white male writers be dropped from the curriculum. They want the course on “Major English Poets” to be removed from the catalog, on the grounds that it is hostile to women, minorities, and the differently-gendered.

In other news, in a video showing the destruction of an ancient Babylonian temple in Iraq, the Islamic State also promised to destroy the pyramids at Giza, with Allah’s help.

Mervyn King’s Alarmist Warning: “All China’s Assets in the US Might be Annulled”

What is it about former central bankers who first destroy the fiat system with their monetarist policies, only to go into retirement, and preach the virtues of the one compound they spend their entire professional careers trying to destroy: gold. To be sure, when it comes to polar reversals of opinion, nobody comes even remotely close to Alan Greenspan: the former Fed chairman who is not only instrumental in launching the “Great Moderation”, which unleashed the current unprecedented global debt wave which will lead to unprecedented disaster sooner or later, has in recent years become one of gold’s biggest advocates as demonstrated most recently in “Greenspan’s Stunning Admission: “Gold Is Currency; No Fiat Currency, Including the Dollar, Can Match It.”…

But the most interesting observation from Mervyn King’s interview comes courtesy of an observation by The Money Trap’s Robert Pringle, who writes the following about “Mervyn King’s alarmist warning”:

According to the World Gold Council, Mervyn King, former governor of the Bank of England, believes that in certain circumstances China’s assets in the US could be “annulled”. Mervyn King’s alarmist warning is made in an interview, entitled “Present perilous, future imperfect” that appears in the June issue of Gold Investor, a WGC publication. After pointing out that “China and other countries do not want to be in a situation where all their iternational assets are in effect dependent on the US”, he is quoted as suggesting that all China’s US assets could be at risk:

“Over the last decade or so, the claims by some emerging market countries on the US have grown. Who knows what the future holds, but China and other countries do not want to be in a situation where all their international assets are in effect dependent on the US. Of course the US would not want to renege on its debts, but if some awful conflagration occurred, then all China’s assets in the US might be annulled. So there are plenty of big concerns that make it extremely reasonable to have assets in your portfolio that are not dependent on the goodwill of other countries.”

The choice of the word “annulled” suggests some kind of deliberate action. Under what scenario could this be even contemplated?

Does he have in mind some sort of armed conflict? That is suggested by his reference to an “awful conflagration”. He appears to be suggesting that if China and the US went to war, the US could cancel the Treasuries China owns (only those China owns?) and not repay (nor service the interest) unilaterally.

He does not say so, but of course this would cause all US Treasuries to collapse, and the US would not be able to issue new bonds.

Temporary suspension?

If he means that the US would suspend paying interest or capital on the bonds that it owes to China (and its allies) only while the war went on, then he cannot mean ‘annulled.’

9th Circuit: Americans Have No Right to Concealed Carry a Gun Outside Home

The United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit is ruling in favor of California’s “good cause” requirement, saying the Second Amendment does not protect a right to carry a concealed gun in public.

On February 13 2014 Breibart News reported that a panel of judges from the Ninth Circuit struck down California’s “good cause” requirement. Thereafter—under pressure from State Attorney Kamala Harris—the court announced that it would rehear the case en banc. Today that en banc ruling resulted in the “good cause” requirement being upheld and Americans being told they have not right to carry a concealed gun in public.

The case—PERUTA V. CTY. OF SAN DIEGO—was filed by concealed permit applicants who think the “good cause” requirement infringed their Second Amendment rights in San Diego and Yolo Counties. On February 13, 2014, the Ninth Circuit panel sided with the Plaintiffs, ruling that the right to keep and bear arms is, in and of itself, a sufficient cause for bearing arms for self-defense. Moreover, that it is a sufficient cause both inside and outside of one’s domicile.

The San Francisco Chronicle quoted from Judge Diarmuid O’Scannlain’s majority opinion, in which he emphasized that “the right to bear arms includes the right to carry an operable arm outside the home for the lawful purpose of self-defense.”

But the en banc ruling went in the opposite direction, upholding the “good cause” requirement and unequivocally stating that Americans have no right to carry a concealed gun outside the home for self-defense. Writing in the majority opinion, Judge Williams Fletcher said, “We hold that the Second Amendment does not preserve or protect a right of a member of the general public to carry concealed firearms in public.”

EBT Card Outage?: It is 8 Days Into June and Many Americans Are Still Waiting for Food Stamp Money

Widespread reports continue to pour in from all over the nation of “glitches” with the food stamp system.

It is eight days into the month and large numbers of people still have not received their benefits, and in other instances it is being reported that EBT cards are simply not working correctly. So what in the world is going on here? On downdetector.com there are scores of reports of problems with the EBT system from people all over the nation. Could this simply be another example of government incompetence, or is something else at work here?

Firm With Close Clinton Ties Lobbied for Islamic Bank Accused of Financing Terrorism

The Podesta Group has perhaps the strongest ties to Hillary Clinton of any high-powered lobbying outfit.

A Washington D.C. lobbying firm closely linked to Hillary Clinton was paid handsomely by a sharia-compliant Bengali bank tied to terrorism, government records show.

Islami Bank Bangladesh Ltd., which was founded in 1983, paid The Podesta Group $390,000 starting last year to lobby the Senate and House on “international banking issues,” according to disclosure forms filed with the Senate.

The bank, which operates in compliance with Islamic banking laws, signed the agreement with the Podesta Group last March 6. The relationship, which ended late last month, went unreported in the press until now.

How California’s Primary Was Rigged Against Independent Voters

Rigging a primary can and does take many different forms. The most effective form of rigging actually takes place in subtle ways via long-exisiting Stalinist rules that normally don’t swing an election, but serve as an effective firewall against outsider candidates when they eventually do pose a threat. That was the establishment can claim “it’s always been this way,” as if that’s a justification for shadiness.

New ISIS ‘Kill’ List Claims to Target Thousands of Americans

A pro-ISIS “hacking” group calling itself the United Cyber Caliphate distributed its latest “kill” list this week. The group claims the list includes names, addresses, and email addresses belonging to 8,318 people, making it one of the longest target lists ISIS-affiliated groups have distributed.

Shock Video: Mom Fights Off Kidnapper Attempting to Drag Daughter Out of Store

Quick-thinking mother jumps into action to protect daughter. Shocking footage out of Florida depicts the terrifying moment a man tried to abduct a child in broad daylight as her mother stood nearby.

Surveillance footage from a Dollar General store in Hernando on Tuesday showed how a mother tugged at her 13-year-old daughter as suspect Craig Bonello, 30, brazenly attempted to drag her out of the store.

Luckily, Citrus County Sheriff’s Deputy Jonathan Behnen had pulled into the store’s parking lot and heard the clerk yelling just as the attempted kidnapper ran out and got in his vehicle.

The US Government Has Recently Issued 2 Alarming Warnings to Prep … But is Anybody Listening?

When the US government steps outside of the apple pie and baseball narrative of the American dream and issues warnings to prep, you’d better pay strict attention and start upping your preparedness game. Bilderberg 2016: What Are the Global Elite Plotting This Time Around?

Later this week, dozens of the most important men in the world are going to gather at an ultra-luxury hotel in Dresden, Germany to discuss the future of the planet. What will happen at this meeting will not be televised, and the mainstream media in the United States will almost entirely ignore it, but decisions will be made at this conference that will affect the lives of every man, woman and child on the entire globe. Of course I am talking about the Bilderberg Group, and for decades you were labeled a “ conspiracy theorist” if you even acknowledged that it existed.

Every year since 1954 the elite of the world have gathered at this time of the year to “ discuss global events” , and since the Bilderberg Group operates under Chatham House Rules, everyone that participates is banned from revealing what goes on during the conference.

But what takes place at these conferences really matters. For example, it has been documented that the Bilderberg Group played a key role in the development of the European Union and in the decision to create the euro.

The elitists that attend these meetings are not the kind of people that would waste their time having tea and exchanging small talk. The list of previous attendees includes Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, George H.W. Bush, Prince Charles, David Cameron, Tony Blair, Henry Kissinger, Bill Gates, Angela Merkel, Ben Bernanke, Timothy Geithner, Rick Perry, David Rockefeller and Joe Biden. I have included a list of those attending Bilderberg this year at the end of this article.

The Taschenbergpalais Hotel In Dresden has been transformed into a heavily armed camp for this year’ s conference, which only adds to the aura of mystery surrounding Bilderberg. The following comes from the Guardian…

Bilderberg Staff Make Last Nervy Tweaks Before Arrival of the Rich and Powerful

Frowning gunslingers are patrolling hotel corridors and a ring of concrete has been erected outside. What are they expecting?

The Taschenbergpalais hotel in Dresden is filling up with pistol-packing plainclothes security as the last guests are ushered out. The frowning gunslingers head up and down the corridors with their hotel maps, trying door handles and checking the lay of the land while, down in the hotel lobby, corporate goons gather in muttering huddles.

I don’t know why everyone’s so antsy. According to the local newspaper DNN, at least 400 police officers will be surrounding the venue for the three days of the talks. There’s already a ring of concrete blocks around the entrance. Is that not enough? What are they expecting? The charge of the light brigade? The hotel is being trussed up tighter than Reid Hoffman’s trousers. No one gets in or out without the right lanyard. As Ed Balls remembers only too well, from that awkward business in Copenhagen.

FPÖ to Formally Challenge Election Result

The Austrian Freedom Party (FPÖ) has announced that a “myriad of irregularities” in the recent presidential elections has forced them to formally challenge the poll result.

The FPÖ’s candidate, Herbet Nofer, lost the election by a hair’s breadth amidst many allegations of voter fraud, duplicate voting-particularly among nonwhites in Vienna-and discrepancies in the postal votes.

Reporters Arrested at Bilderberg Conference, Bundled Into Van

Southern tweeted that police surrounded her and other reporters and started to detain them.

Lauren Southern, the investigative journalist and Donald Trump supporter who called out Facebook for censoring conservative views, was detained by police outside this year’s Bilderberg conference.

Southern was in Dresden, Germany, site of this year’s meeting, attempting to report on the secretive annual gathering of “political leaders and experts from industry, finance, academia and the media.”

UK: Ministers Accused of ‘Skewing’ EU Referendum After Extending Voter Registration by Two Days Because Website Crashed for Less Than Two Hours

But Bernard Jenkin, a Tory backbencher and Leave campaigner, warned that in extending the deadline by two days, when the website was down for only 90 minutes, the Government was on the ‘cusp of legality’.

He said that if the Remain side narrowly wins the referendum, there could be a court injunction against the result. Mr Jenkin, chairman of the Commons public administration committee, told BBC Radio 4: ‘We are not a banana republic. We shouldn’t be making up the rules for our elections as we go along. This is a shambles.’

Islamic State Blows Up 2,500-Year-Old Iraqi Temple, Threatens Egyptian Pyramids Next

A new video making the rounds of Islamic State social media forums allegedly shows operatives of the terror state blowing up a 2,500-year-old temple to Nabu, the Babylonian god of wisdom, along with other historic sites near the captive Iraqi city of Mosul. The video ends with a threat to give the legendary pyramids of Egypt the same treatment.

Vocativ describes the ten-minute video as showing the demolition of the temple to Nabu, using powerful explosives. Nabu was one of the gods in the Babylonian civilization, which was a regional power from roughly 4,000 years ago to roughly 2,500 years ago. The video also depicts the bulldozing of the ancient gates of Adad and Mashki at Nineveh.

According to Vocativ, the video concludes with footage of the Great Pyramid of Giza, which an Islamic State jihadi promises to “demolish with the help of [Allah] God” because the pyramids are “ancient sites built by infidels.”

Op-Ed: The Battle for Fallujah and the Future of Iraq

Fallujah is the picture of all that is wrong in the West’s thinking on the Middle East.

It is strange to see Shiite forces fighting the Sunni ISIS, in effect sacrificing their lives in order to save the city’s Sunni residents, whom they view as infidels, from ISIS’ clutches. That explains their excessive use of explosives, including rockets, on the city and its residents. The Shiites couldn’t care less what happens to civilians whom they consider to be just as bad as ISIS.

Government forces and Shiite militias are being helped by the Iranian Revolutionary Guards, fighting under the direct command of Kassem Suleimani, head of the Quds Force, aided by US-led coalition air power. Iran’s goal is clearly the elimination of any Sunni presence in Fallujah, including both ISIS and the city’s residents. Worst of all is the cooperation between the Western coalition members and Iran, together destroying a city that, as of last week, was home to an estimated 45,000 Iraqi civilians.

The residents of Fallujah know exactly what awaits them and are therefore fleeing the city en masse. Many have drowned while trying to cross the Euphrates River. Those who made it live in fear of government forces as well as the Shiite militias whose major and unbridled activity is hunting down any and all Sunnis in order to do to them what the ISIS Jihadists have been doing to the Shiites.

The Iraqi regime told residents to leave the city, since it was about to be razed to the ground, that being the only way the government feels it can get rid of the ISIS Jihadists hiding in underground tunnels and basements. Unfortunately, the government and the militias suspect that Jihadists will take advantage of the fleeing citizens and join them, and this suspicion has succeeded in turning all the desperately fleeing residents into suspected ISIS terrorists.

Regime forces and militias have so far arrested over 1000 citizens in towns near Fallujah, tortured and mistreated them, beheading — at least according to those who claim to have been there — youngsters whom they suspected of being ISIS fighters.

Fallujah’s residents are convinced that the war is not being fought just to root out ISIS, but is meant to make sure there is no Sunni presence whatsoever left in the city. Their gut feeling is that the proclamations that the war is against ISIS serve as a fig leaf that hides the real intentions of the Iranians, the militias and the regime.[…]

[So a massacre awaits, and the coalition has got/is going to get its hands dirty, mind you, they will still condemn Israel for the speck in the eye, and ignore the plank in their own…]

India: America’s Necessary Partner

by Srdja Trifkovic

India’s prime minister Narendra Modi paid his second visit to the White House in two years on June 8. President Barak Obama was greatly pleased by Modi’s stated willingness to proceed with ratification of the Paris agreement to limit greenhouse gases, and this was the theme duly emphasized in the Western media coverage of their meeting.

To Modi, however, global warming was a peripheral issue. He is a foreign-policy realist who looks upon Obama’s climate-change obsession with quiet bemusement, while pretending to share his concern in order to obtain concessions on other issues. He is far more interested in the long-term geopolitical challenges facing India from the Islamic world to her west and from the Chinese colossus to her north. Pakistan is perceived—quite rightly—as a threat and a source of chronic regional instability, and its deep state (as embodied in the Directorate for Inter-Services Intelligence, ISI) as irredeemably jihad-friendly. China’s explosive economic growth over the past quarter-century, followed less spectacularly by India’s since the mid-1990’s, has not prompted the two Asian giants to resolve their border disputes and other feuds of long standing.

In order to meet various actual or potential threats, Modi wants to further develop and assert India’s status as a regional power; but to that end he needs closer relations with Washington on a number of fronts. His strategy vis-à-vis the United States is threefold. First of all, Modi wants to turn India into a major global manufacturing workshop—that is the theme of his Make in India campaign—and he sees the involvement of U.S.-based corporations as essential to its success. His second goal is to encourage the United States to terminate its policy of tolerating Pakistan’s duplicity in the fight against Islamic terrorism—as manifested in its schizophrenic attitude to the Taliban in Afghanistan—and to encourage the U.S. to look upon India as the only reliable and rational partner in the Subcontinent. Finally, Modi wants to diversify India’s arms supplies—most of which still come from Russia—but does not want to become (or to be seen as becoming) too close to the United States in the grand-strategic scheme of things…

EU Wants €60 Billion to ‘Solve’ Migrant Crisis

The Commission’s proposal hopes to address the ongoing migrant crisis in Europe with an €8 billion fund — rising to €60 billion with contributions from member states and the private sector — aimed at persuading Middle Eastern and African countries such as Tunisia, Jordan, Lebanon, Niger, Ethiopia and possibly even Libya to process migrants before they travel to the EU

According to the Financial Times the initial €8 billion over the next four years will be redirected from existing EU development, relief and aid funds. The further €60 billion will come in the form of a ‘European External Investment Fund’, made up mainly of private money for public works and infrastructure projects aimed at tackling “root causes” of migration.

[Comment: Liars. The money would be used to INCREASE the pace of the hijra. Globalists always double down on problems they create.]

MSNBC Shocked Border Residents Want Wall

Liberal journalist “Trump is right. They need to build a wall.”

Esquire recently sent a liberal journalist to the U.S.-Mexico border to find out what people think about the proposed wall.

Fielden said Esquire wanted the people, “…to tell us what they think about what’s really going on, whether we need a wall. Instead of hearing it from the debate stage.”

Scarborough and Brzezinski were caught off guard when the consensus showed major support for building the wall, specifically, “They said two things, whether they were Hispanic, Anglo, Democrat, Republican, uncommitted, clueless, whatever; they said we want a wall and yet we want it married with compassion toward the people we are trying to keep from jumping over the border,” according to Fielden.

Joe said, “This is shocking stuff,” when finding out Hispanics were less sympathetic towards illegal immigrants than whites, to which Fielden explains, “Most of those Hispanics are first-generation and see it as unfair. They came over here the legal way, became citizens, and now have to compete for jobs with those coming across the border on a daily basis.”

Outrage: EU Court Rules Illegal Migrants Cannot be Jailed… Migrants in Germany Linked to 69,000 Crimes in the 3 Months of 2016!!

Luxembourg (AFP) — EU countries cannot imprison illegal migrants just for crossing borders inside the passport-free Schengen area, the bloc’s top court ruled Tuesday, in a new blow to efforts to crack down on the migration crisis.

The European Court of Justice (ECJ) in Luxembourg said that European Union rules prevent the jailing of non-EU migrants who have illegally crossed a frontier if they have not already been subject to deportation procedures.

The ruling came in the case of a Ghanaian woman, Selina Affum, who was caught by French police at the Channel Tunnel while on a bus from Belgium to Britain using someone else’s passport.

French police placed her in custody for illegal entry to France, and then asked Belgium to readmit her.

‘Ramadan Row’ Behind Fire at German Refugee Shelter

A quarrel over meal times during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan likely sparked an arson attack that destroyed a German refugee shelter, said a report on Thursday quoting prosecutors.

The huge blaze in the western city of Duesseldorf on Tuesday completely razed a hall that housed 282 male asylum seekers, mostly from Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan and North African countries, with 28 people suffering from smoke inhalation.

Police said on Thursday they had detained five men, several of whom had stayed in the shelter using false identity details.

Two were suspected of the arson attack — a Moroccan and an Algerian, both aged 26 — and were remanded in custody by a judge.

One of the men had allegedly poured a flammable liquid onto a mattress and set it alight.

Witnesses reported that there had been recurring tensions between followers of different religions in the Red Cross-run facility.

Soros Bets Against Europe While Funding the Mass Migration He Admits Will ‘Collapse’ The EU

The Wall Street Journal has reported that leftist billionaire and Democratic mega-donor George Soros, a convicted insider trader, has stepped back into trading personally in recent months, betting big on his view that Europe is underestimating the cost of the current illegal immigration crisis from Muslim-majority countries — at the same time he calls for increasing that cost and acknowledges groups he underwrites are pushing to worsen that crisis, the worst since World War II.

In October 2015, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán of Soros’s native Hungary charged that the Muslim-majority “invasion is driven, on the one hand, by people smugglers, and on the other by [human rights] activists who support everything that weakens the nation-state…perhaps best represented by George Soros,” according to a report in Bloomberg, “Orban Accuses Soros of Stoking Refugee Wave to Weaken Europe.”

Orbán stressed, “His name is perhaps the strongest example of those who support anything that weakens nation states, they support everything that changes the traditional European lifestyle.”

In response, Mr. Soros issued an email statement to Bloomberg Business saying his groups viewed “protection of refugees as the objective and national borders as the obstacle.”

Granting that Mr. Soros views “national borders as the obstacle,” is the protection of the overwhelmingly Muslim refugees the objective?

Mr. Soros admits that “Realistically, it will be difficult for Europe to absorb more than one million migrants,” and his view is further that:

[EU] officials have not recognized the full cost of dealing with the migration issue—the crisis. And they have a blind spot: We estimate that the cost exceeds 10 billion euros a year, and they are nowhere near this figure officially. And one of the reasons why they don’t recognize this is because they don’t know where they would find the money.

Mr. Soros states flatly that in part as a result, “The EU is on the verge of collapse,” and that “the very survival of the EU is at risk.”

Yet virtually simultaneously, Soros insists that Europe “has to accept at least a million” of the Muslim-majority illegal immigrants a year — and “cover the cost of housing health care and education for each refugee for the first two years.”

In another interview, Mr. Soros has further admitted that “It would be impossible for the EU to finance this expenditure out of its current budget,” and so advocates their taking on additional debt instead.

Worse, he actually calls for making it easier for the illegals to make it into Europe, arguing that “if asylum-seekers have a reasonable chance of ultimately reaching Europe, they are far more likely to stay where they are.”

Read that again.

Convinced?

So far, Mr. Soros’s bets have had mixed results. According to the Journal, Soros Fund Management, LLC, has “bought over 19 million shares of Barrick Gold Corp.,” a position that “has gained more than $90 million since the end of the first quarter.” The firm also “bought a million shares of miner Silver Wheaton Corp. in the first quarter, a position that has increased 28% so far in the second quarter.”

Yale Students Demand Removal of White Authors From Curriculum

Students at Yale University are demanding radical changes that would remove white male authors from the English department’s curriculum.

According to a petition submitted to faculty, Yale students are demanding that a course on “Major English Poets” be removed from the curriculum because it lacks diversity.

“It is unacceptable that a Yale student considering studying English literature might read only white male authors. A year spent around a seminar table where the literary contributions of women, people of color, and queer folk are absent actively harms all students, regardless of their identity,” the students write in the petition.

The “Major English Poets” requirement for Yale English majors focuses on the work of poets Geoffrey Chaucer, Edmund Spenser, William Shakespeare, John Milton, William Wordsworth, and T.S. Eliot. Despite this lineup lacking the diversity that the students desire, it’s an accurate reflection of the figures who have most influenced English poetry.

According to the students, the “Major English Poets” course “creates a culture that is especially hostile to students of color.” …

Reason’s Robby Suave captured the mindset of social justice warriors in a recent article about students at the notoriously progressive Oberlin College. “The students … seem to think they’re not at college to be educated,” he wrote. They believe that “they are at college to educate everyone else.”

  1. Another sickeningly stupid demand from students at Yale uni; seemingly under the impression they are there to sort things out and run the university the way they think it should be run.

Well, Shakespeare is probably too demanding for the poor souls….

  2. What a load of BS from these stupid students. Why are their parents wasting money on them? They sound uneducable. People of “color” can benefit from Shakespeare just as well as people of “no color” you know. I am amazed by what I read about so-called students in colleges these days. But I guess this is the explanation of why they are dumb as rocks. They would be better off working at quicktrip instead of wasting their parents’ money at college.

Oh, and if you are majoring in ENGLISH, then you do need to know English writers and poets or what’s the point. If you were majoring in SPANISH, you would be reading Spanish authors but they are too stupid to understand any of this.

  3. Oddly racist to say that reading writers of another race is.. er.. racist, and sexist, too. Will homosexual writers be reprieved? How will we know? How can one be ‘actively harmed’ be reading anything? Such people want the whole world to become a padded cell where no harm can come to them, and no benefit either.

  4. English as a first language is overwhelmingly the language of ‘white’ people, strange that, so the literature is ‘white’ too. Am I missing something here?

  5. How long will it be before these cretins insist that caucasian people must speak Bantu, Zulu or Xhosa and decry the dreadful English language of their birthright!
Get a grip for god sake, they are STUDENTS, if they insist on persisting in left wing, feminazi politics EXPEL them!

  6. Trained by the Marxist jackals who run the Ivy League, these young hyenas must be controlled if America is to survive.

  7. IMHO many of the institutions of alleged higher learning in the USA are nothing more than ‘Commie Factories’ turning fresh batches of new Marxists/Communists/Socialists who have been brainwashed and ‘programmed’ into the concept of World Socialism, by out of touch professors. The Communist movement did not die when the Berlin wall came down , it just moved into another phase. Again, expressing myself in this manner has folks questioning my sanity, but I don’t really care.

    • It wouldn’t be so bad if those kids learned anything. To allow anyone to major in some fluffy field, acquiring skills that don’t lead to productive jobs (if there were enough to go around) is cruel and criminal.

I’ll bet most of the students from the STEM disciplines are ignoring the fragile flowers…our son majored in Chem, the Baron in Math(s), so they have useful skills. Me? I didn’t start school until I was 28 and back then women had the luxury of taking whatever appealed. I became interested in moral philosophy, history, and psychology…I realized how fortunate I was to be able to take whatever I wanted bec my former husband was adamant that HE was the breadwinner and I should “trust” him. My bad. Shoulda taken the business courses he did (I wrote some of his papers) as I could have better supported myself and our kids.

Those women who “take men to the cleaners” never met that fellow who could bankrupt us, turn assets into cash and move to another state…But my bad: I learned eventually that betrayal is simply a “thing” as kids say today. It may even be the commonest “thing” many of us experience.

The B is my reward, though. For the blues dues I done paid. I may have even been the template for “Useful Idiot”…

  8. Re: Yale

Another truly sad display from what some have dubbed “Generation Snowflake.”

    Some questions:

Why can’t they simply choose to take a poetry course focused on the poets of their preference?

How are the poets showcased in the offending course NOT titans of English literature?

With English functioning as the de facto global lingua franca, is it not more important than ever to have a deep understanding of the language, its origins, and how it was shaped in the beginning?

    • You’re right of course, it is, but the students know better; in their tiny minds, at least.

      Depressing.
