Gates of Vienna News Feed 3/29/2016

Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair said that millions of Muslims adhere to an ideology that makes them incompatible with the modern world. He also said that the mujahideen of the Islamic State cannot be contained, that they “have to be crushed”.

In other news, the U.S. government ordered the families of American diplomats and military personnel evacuated from their posts in southern Turkey, due to the increasing threat of terrorism in the region.

A ‘Perfect Storm’ Is Brewing Over the Most Important Part of the UK Economy

A “perfect storm” of fears over the state of the world economy, Britain’s place in the EU, and market volatility is gathering over Britain’s dominant financial services sector, according to a new survey.

Banks and investment firms have reported the sharpest deterioration in their outlook in over four years in a survey of 104 firms carried out by the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) and accountants PwC.

Only 14pc of financial firms surveyed said are they more optimistic about their business this year compared to last, while 35pc said they were pessimistic — marking the first drop in business sentiment since 2012.

Financial services — which includes banking, insurance, fund management and securities dealing — contribute to just under 10pc of Britain’s total economic output.

Although the survey noted that profits remained healthy, hiring levels were steady and business volumes had been growing, looming political events combined with financial uncertainty emanating from Europe and China had dampened the outlook for sector.

Kevin Burrowes, head of UK financial services at PwC said “clouds” were darkening over the industry.

“With uncertainties over the EU referendum and global economy, the next quarter will be a challenging one for the financial services sector. Banks in particular are highlighting what a difficult position they find themselves in.”

Britons will go to the polls on June 23 to vote to stay in or out of the EU — an event which has already postponed investment decisions from some companies surveyed by the CBI…

Cash or Digital Money, Personal Freedom or Globalism

Sweden seemed to be at the forefront of the newest globalist scheme digital money v. cash, advocating a cashless global economy with a one-world currency. A CBS World News article reported in 2012 that a small number of businesses in Sweden accepted only credit cards, including some churches, even though elderly people prefer cash, especially in rural areas.

Bjorn Ulvaeus, a former rocker, stated that cash encourages theft, citing his own son who was the victim of armed robbery three times. Cheating and cash theft may have declined in Sweden but cybercrime around the world is indisputably on the rise. Even though Sweden was the first European country to introduce bank notes in 1661, Ulvaeus would like Sweden to phase out cash altogether.

Doug Casey gave an interview recently to Louis James of the International Speculator on the “War on Cash.” Casey described how governments would control the people’s finances through assaults on cash by making every financial transaction electronic. He presented the following historical timeline of efforts to control people’s money:

Bank Secrecy Act of 1970 requiring U.S. citizens to “report the existence of any foreign bank or brokerage accounts,” a law which Americans ignored Money Laundering Control Act of 1986, forcing Americans to explain the source of their money as if it was a crime to move money around without government permission; in Casey’s opinion, “money laundering is an artificial, arbitrary, made-up crime” Patriot Act of 2001 Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act of 2010 (FATCA), forcing foreign banks to “report Americans who had bank or brokerage accounts;” Casey explained that U.N.’s Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) countries jumped at the opportunity to make FATCA a global issue

Casey explained that many countries have already outlawed cash transactions over a certain amount (€1,000 in France, $5,000 in Uruguay, etc.); countries like Norway, Sweden, India, Denmark, and Israel have promoted the ban on cash entirely. Large corporations such as airlines use the excuse of theft to do away with cash transactions.

[Comment: Not a surprise. Sweden is the test bed for bankster experimentation. Witness the destruction of the state by mass migration. Next experiment is digital money.]

Corporate Debt Defaults Explode to Catastrophic Levels Not Seen Since the Last Financial Crisis

If a new financial crisis had already begun, we would expect to see corporate debt defaults skyrocket, and that is precisely what is happening. As you will see below, corporate defaults are currently at the highest level that we have seen since 2009. A wave of bankruptcies is sweeping the energy industry, but it isn’t just the energy industry that is in trouble. In fact, the average credit rating for U.S. corporations is now lower than it was at any point during the last recession. This is yet another sign that we are in the early chapters of a major league economic crisis. Yesterday I talked about how 23.2 percent of all Americans in their prime working years do not have a job right now, but today I am going to focus on the employers. Big corporate giants all over America are in deep, deep financial trouble, and this is going to result in a tremendous wave of layoffs in the coming months.

We should rejoice that U.S. stocks have rebounded a bit in the short-term, but the euphoria in the markets is not doing anything to stop the wave of corporate defaults that is starting to hit Wall Street like a freight train. Zero Hedge is reporting that we have not seen this many corporate defaults since the extremely painful year of 2009…

Report: There is No Sign of Recession: “Strong Consumer Spending Underscores the Economy’s Underlying Strength”

For those who think the U.S. economy is going under, a report from Reuters suggests you’re just peddling fiction.

According to official data there is nothing to worry about. We are not only not in recession, but the economy is fundamentally strong and only getting stronger.

Relatively strong consumer spending underscores the economy’s underlying strength and should further allay fears of a recession, which triggered a massive stock market sell-off early this year…

“The consumer is back in the driver’s seat. There is no sign of recession in these data so this will put a smile on Fed officials’ faces and argues for their policy of gradual interest rate normalization to continue,” said Chris Rupkey, chief economist at MUFG Union Bank in New York.

GDP growth was initially estimated to have risen at only a 0.7 percent rate. The economy grew at a 2.0 percent pace in the third quarter and expanded 2.4 percent for all of 2015.

Consumer spending, which accounts for more than two thirds of U.S. economic activity, rose at a 2.4 percent pace and not the 2.0 percent rate reported last month. More consumption of services than previously estimated accounted for the revision.

Though at first glance this report may sound convincing, as is normally the case with official data and the mainstream propaganda that follows, some key points have been ignored.

First, while the economy officially grew at a rate of 2.0%, when you adjust for built-in upside bias to official reporting according to ShadowStats.com, we actually had a negative growth rate of nearly -2.0%.

147 FBI Agents Working on Hillary Clinton’s Email Investigation

The Hillary Clinton private email server investigation is being worked on by 147 FBI agents.

The Washington Post reports that 147 different agents are working all sides of the probe, according to a lawmaker who spoke with FBI director James Comey about what is transpiring behind the scenes.

The FBI recently kicked its investigation into high gear, as agents and prosecutors are setting up interviews with Clinton’s top aides, presumably including Huma Abedin and Cheryl Mills.

The case hinges on whether Clinton violated a provision of the Espionage Act of 1913.

The law (18 U.S. Code & 793 subsection f) makes clear that anyone who has materials “relating to the national defense” cannot lose or give them away. The law is broken “through gross negligence permits [materials] to be removed from its proper place of custody or delivered to anyone in violation of his trust, or to be lost, stolen, abstracted, or destroyed.”

The penalty? A fine, a prison term of up to ten years, or “both.”

Clinton used a non-secure BlackBerry to conduct classified State Department business, and there is evidence that her device was compromised on her first official trip to China as secretary of state.

17 Men Reportedly Heard Chanting, Firing Off Shots in Apple Valley Detained, Released

Federal and local law enforcement authorities Tuesday are investigating after 17 men were detained for reportedly firing off hundreds of rounds in a remote part of Apple Valley.

San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputies and an FBI agent were among the units that detained the men — reportedly all of Middle Eastern descent — who were camping out in the Deep Creek Hot Springs area Sunday morning, authorities said.

A 911 caller reported hearing over 100 shots fired and seeing five to seven men wearing turbans and shooting “assault rifles, handguns, and shotguns,” according to a Sheriff’s Department statement.

A county sheriff’s helicopter located the men walking near a creek with backpacks “and other items”, The Los Angeles Times reported.

Officials say the men were cooperative as they were detained and searched.

Several handguns, a rifle, and a shotgun were found at the scene, but a records check found all the weapons were registered with the exception of the rifle, which reportedly didn’t have a serial number because it was purchased in parts, an FBI spokesperson told The Times.

Police scanner traffic posted online by the Victor Valley News Group described “a large group of subjects wearing turbans and chanting” at the scene.

“They were up all night chanting ‘Allah akbar’-type stuff,” an unidentified officer is heard saying on the audio recording.

None of the hikers interviewed by Sheriff’s investigators say they witnessed any shots being fired, according to Sheriff’s officials.

A photo of the arrests [http://vvng.victorvalleynews.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/image-17.jpeg] showing several men handcuffed at the scene was posted by the Victor Valley News Group but was not immediately confirmed by authorities.

All 17 men were eventually released because Sheriff’s investigators say they had no outstanding warrants or criminal histories.

“There was no evidence found that a crime had been committed by any of the subjects who were detained and they were released,” a Sheriff’s spokesperson said.

The FBI may conduct further interviews with the men to determine if any crimes were committed, The Times reported.

[Several commenters noted that various versions of the photo have no evidence of “turbans” on anyone.]

A New Car Will Cost You at Least $3,800 Extra Because of Government Regulation

When Congress and the Obama administration passed and implemented extremely strict fuel economy regulations, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) claimed that it would save consumers a few thousand dollars on gas and add only $948 to the price of a new car.

The most modest of the independent estimates works out to $3,800 per vehicle, even after the fuel savings are taken into account.

Three teams of independent economists and engineers went up against the EPA’s analysts-finding much larger costs and smaller benefits. The most modest of the independent estimates works out to $3,800 per vehicle, even after the fuel savings are taken into account.

So whose predictions were more accurate?

Anti-Trump Activists to Face Bikers, Riot Police at Trump Rally

Riot police already standing guard where Trump will speak

Anti-Trump activists, ‘Bikers for Trump’ and riot police will all face each other at a Trump event where six anti-Trump protestors were already arrested.

Trump will give a speech at the Janesville, Wisc., Conference Center on Wednesday, which is connected to a Holiday Inn Express where four women and two men, all from Madison, were arrested the night before while staging a ‘sit-in’ protest.

Local police told Infowars the city has experienced volatile protests in the past, including a recent demonstration against a local pet store.

It’s also likely some of the same activists from the recent, violent anti-Trump protests in nearby Chicago will make an appearance.

Monday night’s sit-in protest was apparently an attempt by leftist protestors to intimidate the hotel into cancelling the Trump event.

“An organizer told The Gazette earlier that the Monday protest was a last-ditch effort to convince the hotel and/or the city to cancel Trump’s appearance in order to prevent violence,” the local GazetteXtra reported. “The hotel’s owners on Monday afternoon issued a statement saying they would not cancel.”

Furthermore, bikers in support of Trump said they would show up at the event in response to the planned protest.

“Patriotic bikers, from all across the U.S. are planning to show up at ALL future Trump rallies to make sure that any paid agitator protesters don’t take away Mr. Trump’s right to speak or interfere with the rights of Trump supporters to safely attend,” a press release from the group stated. “We shall not be silenced!”

Carson: If Nomination Taken From Trump, GOP Faces ‘Absolute Destruction’

Monday on Fox News Channel’s “Fox & Friends,” former Republican presidential candidate Dr. Ben Carson said if Republicans attempt to take the nomination from Donald Trump, the consequence will be “absolute destruction.”

Discussing the possibility of a brokered GOP convention Carson said: “I can tell you this, if there are shenanigans, if it’s not straightforward, all of those millions of people that Donald Trump has brought into the arena are not going to stay there, and the Republicans are going to lose. And it’s going to be not only the presidency, but it’s going to be the Senate, and it could even be the House,. It’s going to be absolute destruction. So the real question is, are the establishment Republicans — and they say they don’t exist, they say there’s no such thing, yeah right — are they more concerned about maintaining control and their positions? Or are they more concerned about America? And if they’re more concerned about America, they will not blow up a straight-forward process, they will let the will of the people prevail.”

Exclusive: Texas Republican Official: Donald Trump is Not Playing the Delegate Game Here

Texas state Republican Executive Committee member Randall Dunning calls himself the “most hated man on Twitter” for boasting that he’s working to help Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) grab delegates away from Donald Trump on the second ballot at the convention in Cleveland.

But Dunning tells Breitbart News that the process of “delegate marshaling” is sophisticated, democratic, and as old as Lincoln. And more importantly: Trump just doesn’t know how to play the game.

“There is a ground game to this,” Dunning said in a wide-ranging interview. “This is a very old process in the Republican Party.”

Hillary Clinton is Career Criminal, Clinical Psychopath: Analyst

Perfect agent for the globalists as she will be obedient to their whims

“The political system of the United States is a democracy in name only. There is a democratic facade that hides the reality that the true polity of America is plutocracy, or government by the wealthy,” Walt Peretto told Press TV on Monday.

“Voting in the United States has little to no influence on who ends up staffing the federal government. The election system is mainly in place to offer the common people the illusion of democracy so that psychologically they will feel participatory in their own affairs instead of dictated to,” Peretto said.

“It’s clear that the global financial elites who issue the currencies of the United States and almost all of the currencies of the world intend to place Hillary Clinton into the White House in January,” he observed.

“This career criminal and clinical psychopath would be a perfect agent for the globalists as she will be obedient to their whims and she is ready and more than willing to advance their agenda of one world government and one world currency,” Peretto added.

More Evidence of Clinton Corruption Yields Little Interest From the Media

Hillary Clinton’s email scandal keeps on growing, with new revelations that offer more justification for an indictment. Yet the mainstream media have long maintained that Mrs. Clinton is not the target of the two ongoing FBI investigations, and they seem very uninterested in the latest evidence to be revealed.

However, a grand jury may be forthcoming. “My sources tell me that the Justice Department is close to empaneling a grand jury and deciding whether to grant statutory immunity to Huma Abedin, Hillary’s closest adviser,” writes Ed Klein for NewsMax. Klein is a former foreign editor of Newsweek, and was editor-in-chief of The New York Times Magazine from 1977 to 1987. “That things have gotten this far in the investigation indicates that FBI director James Comey is moving inexorably toward recommending to Attorney General Loretta Lynch that Hillary be indicted,” added Klein.

While President Obama may be content to pre-judge the FBI investigations as unlikely to find anything criminal in Democrat presidential candidate Clinton’s behavior, more and more evidence has appeared showing that Mrs. Clinton is a deceitful liar replete with conflicts of interests and even pay-for-play as secretary of state.

New Study Shows Mass Government Surveillance Silences Unpopular Opinions

A new study has found that the knowledge of widespread government surveillance causes people to self-censor dissenting opinions online.

The study, published in Journalism and Mass Communication Quarterly, studied the effects on the speech of its subjects after they had been reminded of government surveillance.

Frighteningly, the majority of participants reacted by suppressing opinions that they perceived to be unpopular…

Elizabeth Stoycheff, lead researcher of the study, finds the results very disturbing.

“So many people I’ve talked with say they don’t care about online surveillance because they don’t break any laws and don’t have anything to hide. And I find these rationales deeply troubling,” she told the Washington Post.

According to Stoycheff, it is those who hold the “nothing to hide” belief that are most likely to self-censor.

“The fact that the ‘nothing to hide’ individuals experience a significant chilling effect speaks to how online privacy is much bigger than the mere lawfulness of one’s actions. It’s about a fundamental human right to have control over one’s self-presentation and image, in private, and now, in search histories and metadata,” Stoycheff said.

[Comment: This is one goal of cultural marxism. Bankster globalist do not have enough “soldiers” to enforce their agenda and “vision” — so they brainwash the public to “police” themselves.]

NY Professor Says Algebra is Too Hard, Schools Should Drop It

A New York professor has sparked a debate among educators over whether or not algebra is too hard and should be dropped from the curriculum.

Political scientist Andrew Hacker of Queens College in New York insists the difficulty of learning algebra is responsible for a higher dropout rate when students find they can’t grasp the discipline. The course should be excluded, Hacker says, because the math is just too hard for students today.

“One out of 5 young Americans does not graduate from high school. This is one of the worst records in the developed world. Why? The chief academic reason is they failed ninth-grade algebra,” Hacker says in his new book The Math Myth and Other STEM Delusions.

The Queens College professor emeritus says only about five percent of jobs have any use for algebra and other advanced maths, so teaching higher math is both a waste of time and causes actual damage to graduation rates.

“At the very time we should be honing and sharpening quantitative reasoning skills we punch students into algebra, geometry, calculus. The Math People take over and ignore much simpler needs. Arithmetic is super essential — we quantify everything,” Hacker told The New York Times.

Oregon School Murals Feature Hammer and Sickle American Flag, Odes to Che and Castro

A video of at least eight murals at Lincoln High School in Portland paint a picture of how important issues like immigration and foreign policy are approached in public schools

PORTLAND, Ore. — A recent YouTube video is highlighting some interesting student artwork at an Oregon high school, raising serious questions about what students are learning in class.

A video of at least eight murals at Lincoln High School in Portland paint a picture of how important issues like immigration and foreign policy are approached in public schools. The student artwork features an American flag redesigned with the communist sickle and hammer, a white person in chains, missile silos, men with guns and odes to Che Guevara, Fidel Castro and other communist leaders.

The artwork is steeped in imagery used in La Raza and Aztian propaganda and appears to mock the U.S. Constitution and advocate for open borders. The student murals at Lincoln also incorporate the Mexican flag, immigrant protests, a bloody cross, and several communist sayings, written in Spanish.

Police Arrest Teen in Fatal Shooting at DC Train Station

WASHINGTON — A teenager was charged Tuesday with the fatal shooting of a 15-year-old last weekend on a train station platform in Washington.

Maurice Bellamy, 17, of southeast Washington was charged as an adult with second-degree murder while armed. Online court records show that a court appearance Tuesday, he was ordered held in jail. His next court appearance was scheduled for April 22.

Police said Bellamy fatally shot 15-year-old Davonte Washington on Saturday at the Deanwood Metro station. Davonte died of two gunshots to the torso, according to a court document.

The document says police were able to identify Bellamy as a suspect as a result of surveillance video footage from the scene and that two witnesses who were at the station with Bellamy confirmed his identity after being shown a photograph of him.

One witness who was with Bellamy at the time of the shooting said that when Bellamy was near Davonte he heard Bellamy curse and ask why he was being looked at, saying, “You know me from somewhere?” The witness said he saw Davonte getting up off a bench where he was sitting, heard both men say “What?” and then the shooting took place, according to the court document…

Ted Cruz Dodges Question About Whether He’s ‘Always Been Faithful’ To His Wife

Cruz stood silently

Ted Cruz declined to answer a question on Monday about whether he has ever been unfaithful to his wife Heidi.

‘Senator Cruz,’ DailyMail.com asked him, ‘can you please swat down more definitively this National Enquirer piece by telling us on the record that you’ve never been unfaithful to your wife?’

The National Enquirer published a story last Wednesday that speculated about five women with whom the Republican presidential candidate was rumored to have had extramarital affairs.

Cruz has batted down the specifics of the story on numerous occasions since it appeared in supermarket checkout lanes.

But instead of making a blanket declaration that he has been faithful during the entirety of his 14-year marriage — a move that would effectively end the vicious news cycle — Cruz stood silently as campaign surrogate Carly Fiorina leapt in to intercept the question and change the subject.

The Justice Department Dropped Its Case Against Apple Monday After an “Outside Party” Was Reportedly Used to Crack the iPhone of Syed Farook.

According to the court filing, “The government has now successfully accessed the data stored on Farook’s iPhone and therefore no longer requires the assistance from Apple Inc…”

The phone, which was encrypted with a four-digit passcode, was designed to automatically erase its contents after 10 failed passcode attempts. The government’s original order demanded Apple create an entirely new operating system with such security measures disabled, allowing the FBI to preserve the data while making unlimited passcode guesses.

Following the announcement, tech and legal experts began raising questions on whether the technique would be used on other iPhones.

Others such as NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden had previously questioned whether the FBI was being truthful when initially claiming there was no way to access the phone without Apple’s assistance.

[Comment: They probably already cracked the iphone, but were trying lawfare to backdoor open all iphones in order to set a precedent.]

Times Square Spider-Man Shows Up in Court in Costume After ‘Kicking a Female Tourist Who Refused to Give Him a Tip’ — But Spidey Says Her Husband Threw the First Punch

A Times Square Spider-Man accused of kicking a tourist who denied him a tip showed up in court wearing his costume.

Abdelamine el-Khezzani, 37, kept on his red and blue leotard during his arraignment at Manhattan Criminal Court on Sunday, the New York Post reported.

He is accused of kicking a woman from Virginia who refused to tip him after posing for a photo with el-Khezzani and her family on Saturday.

The judge warned el-Khezzani, who is involved in another case regarding a brawl with a comedy ticket-seller a few months ago, that he wouldn’t get out if he got arrested again…

TPP Under Fire in the U.S. As Other Signatories Advance Towards Ratification

Other countries are moving towards ratification as well

The Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) is taking a beating in the ongoing U.S. presidential election cycle, leaving some observers to wonder if it can survive such a political backlash against trade agreements. But as the leading candidates seem to compete for who can bash U.S. trade policies the hardest, other countries have been pressing forward to ratify the TPP since the deal’s signature in February.

In the U.S., chances are close to nil that the TPP could get ratified anytime soon. The White House is still seeking congressional support for the massive 12-country deal but the political environment could not be any more unfavorable. Presidential candidates are pointing to trade agreements as the root cause of economic inequality. For the Obama administration, things look grim in Congress as well. More and more lawmakers are coming out against the TPP, while others who had long championed the deal are now holding back their support over their stance that some of the provisions do not go far enough to protect certain industries. The soonest the TPP’s ratification vote may happen is during the “Lame Duck” period after November’s election.

But even as the United States stalls on the TPP, other countries are moving towards ratification. Below is a summary of how TPP is advancing outside the United States:

New Zealand: The Minister of Commerce and Consumer Affairs released a consultation document on the implementation of the TPP’s intellectual property provisions. EFF has reviewed their proposals and will submit comments. One of the most substantial issues affecting Kiwis’ digital rights are the changes the government would be required to make to its DRM rules. Even though the TPP bans the circumvention of DRM, potentially even for non-copyright-infringing purposes, it was a pleasant surprise to see that the government propose very permissive flexibilities that could effectively counteract this toxic obligation. We urge other countries to emulate New Zealand in this regard, and do all they can to support user rights if they are to ratify and implement the TPP.

Australia: Leading proponents of the TPP are seeking parliamentary approval for the TPP before the country heads into a federal election later this year, fearing increased politicization of the issue blocking its chances of getting ratified.

Canada: Trade officials are delivering on their promise that they would consult with the Canadian people about the TPP’s impacts. The parliamentary committee on trade is holding public hearings across Canada to hear from people directly and is inviting Canadians to submit written comments by the end of April. A coalition of Canadian civil society organizations have created the Let’s Talk TPP platform to make it easy for anyone to send comments to state officials.(To read more about how the TPP will affect the digital rights of Canadians, see Professor Michael Geist’s blog series, The Trouble With the TPP.)

Japan: Prime Minister Shinzo Abe introduced some bills earlier this month to approve the agreement during the current Diet session, paving the way for the TPP to be debated by the legislature in April and possibly ratified by the summer. Sadly, one of the bills would enact the TPP’s copyright term extension into Japanese law-a provision that we have vehemently opposed. There has long been a major opposition movement against the TPP in Japan, including from those protesting its copyright provisions, but more so due to powerful agricultural and industrial organizations that fear the agreement’s impact on their markets. We hope that when these bills come up for debate next month, the Japanese people come out in force to stop the implementation of the TPP’s restrictive copyright rules.

Malaysia: The Senate ratified the agreement on January 28 even before the TPP signing in February, making it the first and so far only country to do so. That approval came despite opposition from thousands of Malaysians who protested in the streets. Still, the government must go through the process of implementing the actual terms of the agreement into law. It had already preemptively made some of the necessary changes to its laws in 2012, but one major remaining change is the copyright term extension. A national committee, made up of private industry and NGO representatives, has been created to oversee this process. If they will not reject the deal outright, we encourage this committee to propose copyright rules that maximize the public interest.

Vietnam: The National Assembly has announced plans that it will approve the TPP in July of this year. The Vietnamese government says it strives for an early ratification to prove their role as “active member of the TPP” and has assigned some of its national ministries to conduct reports on the TPP’s impact on Vietnam’s laws.

Peru: The Prime Minister has expressed his intention to press forward with the TPP’s, but there has been vocal public opposition to the deal. Nearly 40 civil society organizations across Peru demanded that a full public debate take place in Congress before the government moves to approve it. Over the following month, there were at least five protests against the deal, one of which had over 2,000 Peruvians marching across the capital city of Lima.

The agreement itself stipulates that the TPP’s provisions do not go into force until at least the U.S. and Japan both ratify the agreement. If the U.S. does ratify, it will still claim the ability to withhold benefits from other countries until their implementations are “certified” as compliant to the U.S. interpretation of the deal. We strongly urge countries to forgo TPP’s implementation into their laws until at least the TPP impasse is resolved in the United States-or for that matter, to never ratify the deal at all. Many of these TPP signatories are preemptively binding their laws to an agreement that will not only undermine their people’s rights to free expression, privacy, and access to knowledge on the Internet, but would also threaten innovation and creativity, potentially all in exchange for nothing.

The TPP was kept entirely secret from the public for seven years of negotiations, while powerful corporate stakeholders had the prerogative to decide its aims and objectives. We’re now at the last stage when it’s possible to defeat this deal. That’s what happened with the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (ACTA), which had already been completed and signed when tens of thousands of Europeans went out and protested the agreement. They couldn’t be ignored, and Parliament rejected ACTA. There’s hope that we can defeat the TPP too, but it will only happen if the public demands our governments do the right thing and reject its ratification.

Why Are Educators Learning How to Interrogate Their Students?

About a year and a half ago, Jessica Schneider was handed a flyer by one of her colleagues in the child-advocacy community. It advertised a training session, offered under the auspices of the Illinois Principals Association (I.P.A.), in how to interrogate students. Specifically, teachers and school administrators would be taught an abbreviated version of the Reid Technique, which is used across the country by police officers, private-security personnel, insurance-fraud investigators, and other people for whom getting at the truth is part of the job. Schneider, who is a staff attorney at the Chicago Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, was alarmed. She knew that some psychologists and jurists have characterized the technique as coercive and liable to produce false confessions-especially when used with juveniles, who are highly suggestible. When she expressed her concerns to Brian Schwartz, the I.P.A.’s general counsel, he said that the association had been offering Reid training for many years and found it both popular and benign. To prove it, he invited Schneider to attend a session in January of 2015.

Fighting the Real Monsters That Seek to Demonize Regular People

I have been a little quiet over the last few days.

The passing of one of our dearest friends and most inspiring men, Rob Ford, has literally hit me like a ton of bricks, as it has for so many of us. His smile and his life story flooding my Facebook feed became dizzying. Watching posts pop up from people I have never heard of in my life, reminding us all to “Never forget how this man embarrassed Canada!”, hurt my heart and made me feel sick to my stomach. Do these people actually think anyone is going to forget the few slights of Rob Ford, after he was the centre of a mass public lynching for more than 5 years? Really? …come on.

The opportunism has been so thick, I’ve hardly been able to see through it. Everyone standing up to say their piece about the ‘tragedy of cancer’, how “Rod Ford did not deserve this”, and barfing out their feigned love for a “great man”, a “great councillor”, a “great father”, a “much loved husband, brother, son”-has quite literally, turned me inside out. Though each of these things is true, the people I’m referring to, such as; Justin Trudeau, Kathleen Wynne, John Tory, Norm Kelly, Shelly Carrol, Janet Davis and on and on and on, were the exact people that continuously degraded Rob Ford’s character repeatedly. These are the people that wear pink t-shirts as a statement against bullying, while at the very same time, they bully a man on a public stage, to the extent that I cannot even support the “Anti-bullying” movement myself anymore, since they have sabotaged my trust in those responsible for the movement itself. Sickening.

Brussels: Patriots Disrupt Peaceniks

Just over one thousand patriots put in a surprise appearance at a peacenik rally in central Brussels today, sparking off heated confrontations with a similar-sized crowd of reds and nonwhites who had come to proclaim “peace and love” after the Muslim terrorist attacks in the city.

Although the patriots did nothing but chant, the police attacked them with water cannon and batons, while at the same time, nine more nonwhite terrorist suspects were arrested in dawn raids across Belgium.

The 1,000 reds and nonwhites were first on the scene at the Place de la Bourse square in Brussels, where large numbers of flowers have been laid in commemoration of the attacks. There they mouthed the usual platitudes for “peace” and “tolerance” which characterize those who have no understanding of the racial demographic cause of the violence.

However, by 2 p.m., according to Belgian broadcaster RTBF, about 1,000 patriots had suddenly appeared, carrying banners and chanting slogans which identified them as belonging to a previously unknown organization called “the nation.”

Some of the banners appeared to be of English origin, with one in particular reading “Casuals against Terrorism.” The word “casuals” is in common use in Britain to describe football fan clubs…

By now, the controlled media, present to cover the “peace” rally, were busy sending news wire stories out saying that “neo-Nazis” had come to the rally and were making “Nazi salutes” (even though the photographic evidence shows nothing of the sort, with the only symbols being made of clenched fists and the well-known two-armed chant pose of the “casuals”).

Exclusive — Sen. Rand Paul: ‘UK Should Never Have Joined’ The European Union

Former U.S. presidential candidate and Senator for Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) has told Breitbart London that he believes Britain joining the European Union (EU) was a mistake from the outset.

Sen. Paul, who dropped out of the Republican nominee race in early February, made the comments as an increasing number of foreign politicians and leaders chime into the ‘Brexit’ (British exit) debate.

Britain’s EU referendum is to be held on June 23rd, and has already attracted the attention of figures such as Ambassador John Bolton, Republican front runner Donald Trump, U.S. President Barack Obama, and most recently, General David Petraeus.

But unlike President Obama and Gen. Petraeus, the senator from Kentucky believes that Britain is better off out of the European Union, adding his voice to those such as Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Ambassador Bolton, who have questioned the consensus view that Britain is stronger and safer inside the EU.

Speaking exclusively to Breitbart London, Sen. Paul said: “I believe the UK should never have joined in the first place.”

Sen. Paul sits on the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, as well as the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, the Subcommittee on Europe and Regional Security Cooperation, and the Subcommittee on Near East, South Asia, Central Asia, and Counterterrorism.

His views on the matter are unlikely to surprise people, but his willingness to speak about the issue is indicative of a wider trend. U.S. politicians see Britain’s June 23rd vote as a harbinger for their own elections: the anti-establishment versus the establishment, the tried and failed versus the ‘unknown’.

“The notion that the European Union provides security from external threats is wholly false,” Amb. Bolton pointed out on the Breitbart News Daily radio programme last week, adding: “In fact, I think for NATO itself, the European Union is a real problem. I think it has made Europe less than the sum of its parts, and I think that’s bad for the United States. I think we need strong, capable nations in Europe to stand with us against international threats, like radical Islam, that we face here in the United States, and that they face in Europe as well.”

Right-Wing Belgians to March Through Jihadist Capital of Europe

Protesters to confront Islamists in Molenbeek

Right-wing protest group Casuals United Belgium is set to stage a controversial march through the Brussels district of Molenbeek, the area known as the jihadist capital of Europe.

A post on the group’s Facebook page calls on as many people as possible to attend a rally in Molenbeek which will begin at 3pm on Saturday.

“This is the opportunity to express our displeasure in the den of the lion,” states the post.

Reporting on the planned march one Belgian news outlet remarks, “The riots on Sunday in Brussels seem to be only the beginning”.

That’s a reference to demonstrations which took place on Saturday at the site of the memorial to the victims of the Brussels attacks.

500-1000 right-wing protesters clashed with police, who at one point used a water cannon to disperse what some in the media described as a riot.

Casuals United Belgium are a collective of soccer fans, many would call them hooligans, who put aside club rivalries to band together in opposition to what they claim represents the Islamization of Europe.

A march through Molenbeek would be almost certain to spark a massive confrontation between the district’s Muslim population and right-wing demonstrators.

As the New York Times reports, Molenbeek is widely known as Belgium’s “Jihad Central,” and was home to numerous terrorists including Paris massacre mastermind Abdelhamid Abaaoud, who grew up in the area.

Scotland: Congratulations to All Muslims’ Sick Gloating of Islamist Fanatics Over Shopkeeper Death

SICK Islamist fanatics gloated over the death of a peaceful Muslim shopkeeper allegedly murdered by a fellow Muslim after wishing Christians a happy Easter, it emerged today.

Radical Islamists attacked Asad Shah online — even posting “congratulations to all Muslims” — and gloated over his death after he posted a series of videos promoting peace and understanding between Muslims and Christians.

Mr Shah, 40, was stabbed to death outside his shop just four hours after wishing friends and neighbours in Glasgow a “very happy Easter” online.

Police have said the killing was religiously motivated and have charged Tanveer Ahmed, 32, from Bradford in Yorkshire with murder.

He appeared before Glasgow Sheriff Court earlier today and made no plea.

The court appearance comes amid widespread outrage after trolls gloated about the death of Mr Shah, who was stabbed and killed on Thursday, on a Facebook page.

One of the sick messages, which contains a link to a news story about the killing, said: “Congratulations to all Muslims.”

It was posted on the Anti Qadianiat (Tahafuz Khatme Nubuwwat) Facebook page and has been liked 54 times with two likes coming from the UK — one from a web user in Leeds and one from Birmingham.

It has also emerged that hardline Muslims used two videos originally posted online by Mr Shah to promote peace as part of a sick attack against his inclusive Ahmadi strand of Islam.

UK: The Rotherham Whistleblower: Incredible Story of the Woman Who Risked Everything to Bring Asian Men Who Groomed and Raped White Girls for Two Decades to Justice

It is a scandal that sent shockwaves across the UK. Cases of mainly white girls — some as young as 10 — being groomed, raped, forced into prostitution, beaten and even killed, by gangs of older Asian men.

These horrendous crimes were told by the vulnerable victims to Rotherham youth worker Jayne Senior on an almost daily basis for 20 years.

They were desperate pleas for help that fell on deaf ears for nearly two decades when the 51-year-old reported them to the local police, to the council, and to social services, all of which failed to believe what Senior was telling them.

Senior, a mother of three, has now written a book called Broken And Betrayed, revealing how she became the whistleblower who risked imprisonment to provide evidence to bring these cases to court.

It’s a decision which sparked an investigation by the Home Affairs select committee, which has identified that since the 1990s, up to 1,400 young girls in the South Yorkshire town have been regularly abused by paedophile gangs, predominately made up of older men from Pakistani descent.

And in February this year, Arshid Hussain, 36, the ringleader of a gang who groomed, raped and abused teenage girls in Rotherham was jailed for 35 years.

Senior, a mother of three, has now written a book called Broken And Betrayed, revealing how she became the whistleblower who risked imprisonment to provide evidence to bring these cases to court.

WaPo: How Belgian Prisons Became a Breeding Ground for Islamic Extremism

From the Washington Post:

LIEGE, Belgium — Stephane Medot knows a thing or two about Belgian prisons. He spent 10 years in them. Arrested for carrying out more than a dozen armed bank robberies, the stocky, bald-headed Medot moved from prison to prison, from one cell of his own to another, until he served out his time.

Along the way, he got a front-row seat in a prison system that has become a breeding ground for violent Muslim extremists. Many of those involved in the Paris and Brussels attacks first did short stints behind bars for relatively petty crimes. And there these wayward young people met proselytizers and appear to have acquired a new, lethal sense of purpose.

A Belgian prison is where Abdelhamid Abaaoud, who helped plan the Paris attacks and who was killed in a police raid in November, met Salah Abdeslam, an alleged Paris attacker who was captured in Brussels this month. Salah’s brother Brahim, who blew himself up in Paris, also served time.

Erik Prince: Because ‘Europe Can’t Deal With Radical Islam, ‘ Slaughter of Christians Will Continue

Erik Prince, managing director of the Frontier Resource Group, and a former Navy SEAL who helped found the famous Blackwater security contracting firm, appeared on Breitbart News Saturday on SiriusXM to talk about the slaughter of Christians in the Middle East, Africa and, increasingly, in Europe.

“Radical Islam is on the march in many places around the world,” Prince warned. “Whether you start in East Africa, in Somalia, Somalia spilling over into Kenya, total chaos in Central African Republic, the eastern DRC… Nigeria, of course, has a terrible problem with Boko Haram, that literally means ‘Western education is prohibited,’ anything Western, including Christianity. Of course Libya, terrible failed state. Egypt, the entire Levant, everything from Lebanon to Syria. Iraq, of course, the ongoing Christian persecution — genocide — occurring there.”

He compared the situation in the Middle East to the Thirty Years War of European history, which had “religious overtones, Catholic versus Protestant, political overtones… and you have that now in the Middle East between Sunni and Shia Islam, radical Islam from both of those sects hates Christianity, hates Judaism, hates any other organized religion, and attacks it without limit.”

Without adequate legal protection in much of the Middle East, Prince said Christian communities are being crushed between the “plate tectonics” of the Sunni-Shia civil war. He noted that most secular leaders in the Middle East are preoccupied with “staying in power and keeping their borders intact,” so “the last thing on their minds are Christians.”

Tony Blair: Many Muslims ‘Incompatible’ With Modern World

REUTERS/Mohamed Abd El GhanyFormer British Prime Minister Tony Blair argued for “active on-the-ground military support” for Arab armies, saying that ISIS militants “have to be crushed.”

Tony Blair has said that “many millions” of Muslims hold a viewpoint that is “fundamentally incompatible with the modern world.”

Rejecting arguments that ISIS is simply “tens of thousands of brainwashed crazies,” he said ISIS, the militant group also known as the Islamic State, ISIL, or Daesh, “does not seek dialogue but dominance.”

“It cannot therefore be contained,” he said. “It has to be defeated.”

To mitigate against such attacks, the former British prime minister argued for “active on-the-ground military support” for Arab armies, saying ISIS militants “have to be crushed.”

He also called for the creation of a pan-national anti-terror force, saying: “We must build military capability able to confront and defeat the terrorists wherever they try to hold territory. This is a challenge for the West.”…

US Orders Diplomatic, Military Families Out of South Turkey

WASHINGTON (AP) — The State Department and Pentagon ordered the families of U.S. diplomats and military personnel Tuesday to leave posts in southern Turkey due to “increased threats from terrorist groups” in the country.

The two agencies said dependents of American staffers at the U.S. consulate in Adana, the Incirlik air base and two other locations must leave. The so-called “ordered departure” notice means the relocation costs will be covered by the government.

In a statement, the military’s European Command said the step “allows for the deliberate, safe return of family members from these areas due to continued security concerns in the region.”

Three-Year-Old Girl Decapitated by Stranger Who Grabbed Her From Her Mother in Taipei Street and Cut Her Head Off With a Meat Cleaver.

[WARNING: * Disturbing Content. *]

A three-year-old girl has been decapitated in an apparently random killing outside a subway station in the Taiwanese capital of Taipei.

A 33-year-old man reportedly grabbed the girl from behind as she was entering the station with her mother shortly before noon on Monday.

The man, unknown to both mother and child, then cut the child’s head off with a meat cleaver in the middle of the street.

The mother told local media how the three-year-old had been on a bike and that she thought the killer had intended to help push the girl up the street.

The man, identified only by his surname of Wang, then brought out the large meat cleaver and brought it down on her daughter’s neck.

She told Taiwanese newspaper Apple Daily how she tried to stop the killer, but was not strong enough to overpower him.

Several witnesses helped to subdue the attacker, after which police arrested him.

Luis Fleischman: President Obama’s Visit to Cuba: An Overview

President Obama just returned from an historic visit to Cuba, the first American president to have visited the island since 1928. The trip took place 15 months after Obama announced the process of normalization with Cuba.

On his visit to Cuba, Obama began by quoting from a poem by Cuban independence hero and poet Jose Marti. That poem, “Cultivo una Rosa Blanca” or “I plant a white rose”, is a classic that refers to the importance of reconciliation. The poet plants a white rose for a true friend and also for “the cruel person’ that “tears my heart”.

Obama spoke about the superiority of democracy over authoritarianism, the higher quality of life of a free person over the oppressed and the importance of a free economy for the self-development of the individual.

Likewise, he stressed the need to end discrimination against those Cubans living on the island who are of African descent. Obama also called on the Cubans not to define their identity by being against the United States.

He chided the Cuban regime’s ridiculous prejudice that views Miami Cubans as conspirators. Obama defended the Cuban/American exiles living in the U.S. as being passionate, loving people who care about their lost homes and are not merely anti-Castro fanatic militants.

Obama made clear what the differences between the U.S. and Cuba are. However, like Marti’s poem, the president spoke about the need for reconciliation based on “the recognition of common humanity”, despite the brutality and rogue character of the Cuban regime. He made a call to leave the past behind and to look forward to the future together…

Water Cannon Used on Anti-Immigrant Protesters in Brussels

Protestors chanted slogans including “this is our home.”

Riot police fired water cannon at far-right demonstrators who invaded a square in the Belgian capital on Sunday, shouting anti-immigrant slogans at the memorial to the victims of the Brussels attacks.

Approximately 200 men wearing black, some of whom were masked, shouted nationalist and anti-immigrant slogans and made Nazi salutes as they moved in on the Place de la Bourse, where people had laid flowers and candles in honour of the 28 people killed and 340 injured in last week’s suicide bombings at Brussels airport and metro.

Riot police with shields and water cannon cleared the square and 10 people were arrested. The protestors chanted slogans including “this is our home” as people who had gathered earlier to light candles at the memorial in front of the former Brussels stock exchange shouted back: “No to hatred.”

  1. And yet it was Blair’s Govt, as a deliberate policy to change the social structure of Great Britain, who imported them by the ship load.

The man has some really schizophrenic ideas and actions about them.

    • Tony Blair is a war criminal for his part in the 1999 bombing of CIVILANS (only they were targeted ) in SERBIA by NATO.

An unlawful war NOT approved by the UN.

Maddie Albright actually said they NATO would lay waste to the entire country AND ALL THEIR people. “KILL them all ” she was heard to exclaim at a meeting with Clinton and his WIFE and allies.

  2. “Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair said that millions of Muslims adhere to an ideology that makes them incompatible with the modern world.”

So what to do? Clearly, the answer is to invite lots of them to Britain to “rub its nose in diversity”, and make us all live in one “Global village” with them. (to quote 2 of the most notorious quotes of the Blair era).

  3. Yes, Mr. Blair, millions of Muslims adhere to an ideology that makes them incompatible with the modern world. It is called Islam.
Mr. Blair says the mujahideen of the Islamic State “have to be crushed”.
They are, however, Mr. Blair, “doing exactly what this book says”.
Mr. Blair says, “There is a problem within Islam”. True: it is called Islam.
Mr. Blair says, “We seem blind”. Not all of us, Mr. Blair.

  4. Andrew hacker probably struggled with algebra – no amount of arguing and rambling essays made his nonsensical solutions acceptable.

    • I disliked algebra and geometry in high school. Passed them with no problem, however much as I disliked them.

They came in handy when I began drafting clothing patterns a few years later . Never even knew I would need those skills when I was a “kid”.

  5. Thanks Tone Blurt. Pity you didn’t think of that before being party to crime of the the century in poor Iraq. But we do know exactky what you and your greedy gang of murderers mean by “crush”. Bon voyage.

  6. “Tony Blair has said that “many millions” of Muslims hold a viewpoint that is “fundamentally incompatible with the modern world.”

How come he is saying this now? When in office, he flooded the UK with these people and then went chasing their vote.

    Hypocrite.

    • Yes, POPE … we Christians would love to live in peace…but, POPE… ask the Greeks and the Armenians what it WAS LIKE living under and being MURDERED by muslims.

  7. Yes it’s amusing how Blair is now positioning himself as a global “know all” on Islam when he was part of problem to begin with.

  8. The state-backed Swedish Institute handed control of its official Twitter account over to a Lebanese migrant who then proceeded to tweet,

“I’m the immigrant f**king your daughter while you’re trying to sleep ignoring her moans calling me ‘daddy’”.

Billed as “a new Swede every week,” the Twitter account (@sweden) rotates between various ‘new Swedes’…

    https://youtu.be/nmuvX7rnefM

    • Swedes? Lost cause. My mother ( WWII vet) used to say they were a lost people when they refused to stand AGAINST Hitler and had no problem at all about being partners with JOE STALIN after the war.

Student exchanges and big business deals with USSR.

      • Congratulations!

Not everybody is happy to have a mother speciallized in realpolitik.

  9. Blair was always very quick to remind the masses they had better get used to the certainty that at some point in the not too distant future there would be an Islamic entity Prime Minister. For sure for sure Anthony?

  10. Tony Blair is incompatible with the modern world. The man is wrong about everything. He has spent his political career trying to wreck his nation and send it back 1000 years.

  11. Blair is a hypocrite, a man who betrayed our country and destroyed its identity. He should have the word ‘TRAITOR’ branded on his forehead.

    • The Blair Creature should by on trial for War crimes, along with Bush! The geopolitical landscape shifted dramatically post 9/11 when it was decided to attack Iraq when everyone knew the twin towers atrocity was backed by the Saudis.

  12. I’ve pretty much reached the point of just saying “select from my earlier comments.”
