Islam’s Vicegerent of Viagra?

Dr. Andrew Bostom sends this account of the prurient postmortem puissance of the prophet (pbuh), who… ahem… pitched a tent even after he shuffled off this mortal coil.

Islam’s Vicegerent of Viagra?
by Andrew Bostom

Considered the Enlightenment’s greatest historian, Edward Gibbon (1734-1794) maintains in his 1776 magnum opus, The History of The Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire, Vol. 9 (p. 89, and note 175), that according to the Muslim sources, Muhammad’s sexual prowess, literally till the day he died, was a point of emphasis, glorifying,

…the tradition of his natural or preternatural gifts: he united the manly virtue of thirty of the children of Adam*…Al Jannabi records his own testimony that he surpassed all men in conjugal vigour;

Indeed, as examples of this preternatural concupiscence, we are told in one of the two most important canonical hadith collections:

Narrated Qatada: Anas bin Malik said, “The Prophet used to visit all his wives in a round, during the day and night and they were eleven in number.” I asked Anas, “Had the Prophet the strength for it?” Anas replied, “We used to say that the Prophet was given the strength of thirty (men).” And Sa’id said on the authority of Qatada that Anas had told him about nine wives only (not eleven). (Sahih al-Bukhari, Volume 1, Book 5, Number 268); Narrated Anas bin Malik: The Prophet used to visit all his wives in one night and he had nine wives at that time. [Sahih al-Bukhari, Volume 1, Book 5, Number 282; see also concordant hadiths in Vol. 7, Book 62, Numbers 6 and 142]

Finally, the Muslim historian Abulfeda [Abulfeda (Abū-l-Fidā’ Ismā‛īl ibn ‛Alī ‛Imād-ud-Dnī] (1273-1331; see also)], who wrote a biography of Islam’s prophet, mentions the exclamation of Ali, who washed Muhammad’s body after his death. French Orientalist Jean [John] Gagnier compiled a ‘Life’ in French (which was published by Le Clerc at Amsterdam in 1732) for those unable to read his Latin translation of Abū Al-Fidā’s biography of Muhammad. Here is Gagnier’s translation of Abulfeda’s observations from p. 301 of the French version:

And the English translation, kindly provided by Carolus:

… jointly with Ali, and Osama, and Schokran were pouring water on [the corpse], while Ali was cleaning it.

When they reached the inferior parts of the body, they heard a disembodied voice, who cried: “Take care not to unveil the Prophet’s nudity — Peace be Upon Him.”

Ali confirmed since that they had heard a voice, but that they never saw anyone speaking.

Ali did not see what “can be seen in a dead man” according to Abulfeda’s expression, but according to a Tradition, while rubbing it, Ali felt something stiff, and cried: “Oh Prophet! Your penis is erect, pointing to the sky!”

He also felt that the whole body had a very sweet smell, dead as if living, and that it was the smell of Musi Cat Omm Salaman, one of the Prophet’s wives.

He related it in these terms: “After God’s Apostle passed away, I put my hand on his chest, and despite the fact that I hadn’t fasted for a week and hadn’t done the sacred ablutions, my hand smelled of a sweet scent.”

  1. Much of this is simply corruptions (thefts) of Christian (Syriac/ Egyptian Desert Fathers) lives of the saints, setting out the marks of a saint’s holiness even after death. Of course, much more sexualized. The spiritual exploits of such men and women heavily perfumed the air Islam breathed as it qwhen about conquering & submitting.

Compare the biographies of the Persian prophet Mani with Muhammad, how they both cobbled together what laid before them. Of course Muhammad militarized his cobbled “system” of belief, and Mani didn’t. What always strikes me is how unoriginal Islam truly is – how little is contributed, how it only repackaged what it stumbled upon. Even down to the veiling (seclusion) of women and its “international” design of mosques. That latter is so apparent it should clue anyone to how Islam is history’s greatest ripoff religion.

Islam seen as a Double Heresy (Jewish & Christian) is the best way of viewing its fundamentals and oddities.

    • I agree Steven, Islam is indeed a mish mash of selected Middle Eastern religion, culture & rules of law of the time it was cobbled together. Jewish law, Persian culture & religion, Greek philosophy, paganism & early Christian religion & ideology to name a few. Read ‘In The Shadow Of The Sword’ by Tom Holland for an extremely readable account of the history & circumstances that gave rise to this ideology/religion called Islam. As someone who is interested in discovering how this terrible ideology came about, I was rapt to discover this book to add to my collection & recommend it to all. What a pity books like this are not more widely known & read. We all need this information.
Holland doesn’t exactly say Mohammed never existed but he casts well referenced doubt on the traditional story of Mohammed’s connection to Mecca as well as the existence of a tribe called the Quraysh, & on the existence of ibn Ishaq too, as well as his biography. I particularly noted his account of the Monophysite version of Christianity & that of the outlawed Nazorean sect who disappeared into Arabia after the Council of Niacea. Their version of Christianity is remarkably similar to the Koranic version. Of course the rhetorical question arises; if the Koran is the word of the God of the Christians as well as the Jews & Muslims, how come He only knew these heretical versions of the Christian faith?
Of course Islam seems to have an answer to any criticism, so I can hear the answer; “its just proof that the Christians really did alter their gospels & the Koran has the true version”. LOL.

  2. “Islam was also attacked here” says the blond Danish woman…..sorry but Europeans deserve to be bombed….!!
I just hope my fellow Jews can run away in time before is too late.

    • If someone said that Jews deserved to be bombed, you would surely redact that – but you allow Jews to say that Europeans deserve to be bombed?!

      • I allow occasional utterances of the sort on either side, depending on the context. And if things get out of hand, of course, I cauterize the thread.
