COJEP Battles Islamophobia at the OSCE

The annual Human Dimension Implementation Meeting (HDIM) of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe is coming up at the end of this month in Warsaw, and NGOs in the OSCE region are gearing up to do ideological battle in the side events.

One of them is COJEP, Conseil de la Jeunesse Pluriculturelle, a multicultural “youth” organization that is an outgrowth of Millî Görüş, a Turkish radical Islamic group that has a pan-European reach. HDIM meetings are included in COJEP’s remit, and it is planning a side event in Warsaw.

This morning I received the following email from COJEP:

Dear Mr. or Ms.,

We are pleased to invite you at our side-event: “Annoucement [sic] of the Annual Report of ORIW”, that will take place the 30th September 2014 During the Human Dimension Implementation

ORIW, Organization “Racism Islamophobia Watch”, is an organization with headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. It works with expert consultants and lawyers to defend and protect people against islamophobia and racism in francophone countries. Our organization is independent and not affiliated to any political party or government structure.

ORIW takes the initiative to organize different events and conferences to raise awareness about racism and islamophobia with the support of related national and international organizations. Besides, it examines carefully the applications of individuals and organizations who are the victims of islamophobia to provide them juridical support afterwards.

ORIW supports people with judicial help, detects acts of racism and islamophobia in media, social networks, different corresponding reports, personal networks, individual applications, which afterwards are reported to higher authorities. ORIW issues monthly and annual reports in order to draw attention to islamophobia and racism in everyday life and to get free from prejudices.

You can find in the attachments the details of our side-event

Thank you so much for your interest.

Sincerely,

The attachment was a PDF file of a color brochure. It included some slick graphics that are not easily reproduced here, but the copyable text is below:

If you’re going to be in Warsaw on September 30, you may want to drop by the COJEP side event and put a few (polite!) questions to the organizers. It’s advisable to take along a copy of Reliance of the Traveller, so that your points will be well-informed, and reflect authoritative Sunni Islamic law as established by a consensus of the scholars.

  1. LOL! There is no ‘Islamophobia’ – a phobia is an irrational fear of something. But anyone who knows anything at all about Islam knows that it is perfectly rational to fear it. A real Muslim beliefs you should lose your head if you don’t subject yourself to Islamic tyranny.

  2. My (polite) questions would be: “Will you support and assist people whose moral and legal values of life are in danger because of anti-Semitic or Islamosupremacist actions in Francophone countries? If not, why not?”

  3. I wonder whether there is an Association which battles ‘Anglophobia’ and if not why not? We’re in far more danger than Islam and we’re not half as nasty!

  4. Better make a list with all these organizations and its members + founders for when the European governments will change radically. Just in case.

  5. “ORIW supports people with judicial help, detects acts of racism and islamophobia in media, social networks, different corresponding reports, personal networks, individual applications, which afterwards are reported to higher authorities.”

I wonder which “higher auhorities” that would be?
